But this book is getting good!I sigh and put down my phone. I say to Ethan, "I'm just going to the bathroom real quick."

After I finish my business I see Ethan quickly put down my phone. Ya I thought I did too...

"What were you doing with my phone?" I ask suspiciously.

"Nothing." He says innocently.

"Right." I say rolling my eyes. "I saw you holding it..."

"You'll probably find out later..." He says hiding a smile.

I look at my camera roll to see if he spammed photos. I check my messages to see if he changed anything or texted someone. I sigh and look at Ethan.

When more people start to come in I put away my phone and Ethan and I start to serve the customers.

Ethan and I decide to take our break an hour later and head to the back. My phone starts blowing up with notifications from Snapchat.

I open the app and see Layla and Harper texted me in our group chat.

I exit the group chat and look at my story. It says I posted a bunch of pictures.

The first picture is Ethan with the caption, "This is Ethan. He's my best friend. (For now.) I love him more than Harper and Layla."

The next photo says, "I'm going to marry him one day. ❤️💍"

I tap on the right for the next photo. "He's the best employee at Cooper's Cafe. I adore him. 😍"

"Okay I have to go... If you want an invite to the wedding hmu! 😜"

"Hope you're not mad at me when you read this Red! Besties still right? Harper and Layla DO NOT tell her about this. I want to see how long it will take for her to realize I spammed her story! 😜"

Then the rest of the story was him doing funny faces. I totally did not save those. I look at Ethan and say, "Why did you post those on my story?"

He looks at me and says, "What are you talking about?"

"I know you spammed my story." I say tilting my head.

He bites his lip and says, "I don't know what you're talking about."

"I know you're lying. You bite your lip when you're lying." I say smirking.

"Whatever you say..." He says shrugging.

I roll my eyes and say, "Now Harper and Layla think we're dating so thanks a lot..."

"Hey you'd be lucky if you got to date me." Ethan says.

"How so?" I say giving him a really look.

"Well if I had a girlfriend I would buy her food and cuddle her while we're binge watching Netflix." Ethan says.

"Wow so romantic." I say laughing. Um yes it does! If it's with him I'll pass.

"And anyway you buy me food and we watch Netflix on our breaks." ...No

Ethan opens the car door for me and walks me to the door. "Thanks for driving me." I say smiling.

"No problem." He says. He furrows his eyebrows and asks, "Uh do you have any plans tomorrow?"

"Nope." I say shrugging. I smirk and say, "You want to hang out with me for a whole day?"

He laughs and says, "I just wanted to know if you wanted to come hang out with me at the carnival this weekend."

"Dude we should get the whole group! Maybe Hunter, Harper, and Layla are free." I say.

"Ya that would be so fun!" He says. Ya cause I do not want to hang out with him alone. I'm not falling... I'm clearly standing right now.

"I'll ask them and then I'll call you later?" I ask.

"Okay." He says waving.

"See you!" I say as I go inside my house.

I walk into my room and put down my backpack. I walk back down the stairs and see my mom in the kitchen. "How was work?" My mom asks as she makes dinner.

"Good! Do we have any plans tomorrow?" I ask.

"No you're dad is on call so we don't really have anything planned. Why?" She asks.

"Well my friends and I want to go to the carnival tomorrow..." I say.

"Do you think you could take Jade with you? She's been dying to go there..." My mom says.

"So I have to babysit her..." I say complaining.

"It's either that or neither of you are going tomorrow..." My mom says.

"Fine..." I say.

After I eat dinner with my family I head to my room and take a shower. Once I'm in my pajamas I jump onto my bed and watch a random show on tv.

I text the group chat and see if everyone is free tomorrow.

I roll my eyes and decide to call Ethan. Um no. There was never a ship in the first place.

I don't like him like that! ... Oh shut the fuck up.

"Hey Red!" Ethan says when he answers the call.

"Hi!" I say smiling even though he can't see me.

"So um about the carnival..." Ethan says trailing off.

"Are you blowing me off? I will fucking kick you in the guts if you're ditching." I say.

"No! I wasn't ditching but I have to bring someone to the carnival..." He says. He doesn't have one. (Hopefully.)

"Who?" I ask.

"My sister... My mom's making me." Ethan says sighing.

"Oh my gosh same!" I say laughing.

He laughs and says, "Do you like rollercoasters?"

"Hell no." I say shivering.

He sighs with relief and says, "Good cause I was not going to ride a rollercoaster. Even if you payed me."

"I don't like all those twists and turns." I say.

"Well I have to go wash the dishes. I'll talk to you tomorrow Red." He says.

"See you." I say.

When the call ends I can't help but smile. Oh shit.

I might actually like Ethan. No! He can't know that I like him. Oh my god... Oh my god. OH MY GOD! This is weird. I wish I could throw away emotions. This is WEIRD! I like Ethan.

How is this possible? I mean I've only known him for 3 months! Ya because that's what friends do.

I sigh and continue to watch tv. Maybe if I ignore these feelings it'll disappear! But of course the last thought before I went to sleep was him... I really wish I could make this crush go away.

"Hurry up Scarlett! I want to go!" Jade says outside my door.

"I told you Ethan's picking us up. Stop hurrying me up." I say to her while I'm getting ready in my room.

Maybe I can say I have plans? True... I'll just try to distance myself until this crush goes away.

I sigh and put on some lip balm.

I put on my shoes and hear the doorbell ring. "Jade!" I shout. She comes running towards me and I say, "Remember to be nice to Ethan's sister."

She nods and opens the door. "Hey Jade!" Ethan says.

I walk towards them and see Ethan. Stop it! He makes eye contact with me and his whole face lights up. Or your imagination.

"Hey Red." He says softly.

"Hi!" I say smiling.

"You look breathtaking." He says looking me up and down.

"Shut up." I say walking past him. No I'm not! I hear him laugh and it makes my heart flutter. Stop doing that! Why does all of a sudden everything he does affect me!

"I want to meet Ethan's sister!" Jade says running in front of me.

Jade walks up to the car and opens the door. "Oh my god Ellie!" She screams.

"Jade! What are you doing here?" Ellie says hugging her.

"Scarlett is my sister!" She says.

"I guess they know each other already." Ethan says opening the car door for me.

"Ya!" I say laughing.

When he backs out of the driveway I ask Jade, "How do you guys know each other?"

Jade says, "This is Ellie! She's the bestie I told you about."

"Oh cool! So what's the first thing you guys want to do?" I ask.

"Let's do the rides first and then prizes!" Ellie says.

"Okay!" Ethan says. A few minutes later we arrive at the carnival and park. He opens the door for Ella and Jade while I step out of the car.

We all line up to buy tickets and when it's our turn, I hand them some money. But then Ethan says, "I got this."

"No it's okay!" I say.

Before I can try to reason with him he already handed the employees his money and got the tickets. He hands all of us our ticket and says, "You don't need to pay me back. I'm just glad you wanted to go with me."

I smile and say, "How about I pay for the food?"

He thinks about it and says, "Okay."

"Yay!" I say clapping. He laughs and my heart does this weird thing. Stop it. Whatever this feeling is make it stop.

Jade and Ellie decide to ride a merry-go-round while Ethan and I sit at a bench.

"Have you seen a booth that you really want to go to?" He asks me.

"Yes! I'm here to win a bunch of stuffed animals." I say smiling.

Once Jade and Ellie's ride is over I drag everyone to a booth. The worker says, "The objective is to pop 6 balloons and then you win a prize."

She hands us 6 darts and I hand three to Ethan. "Really?" He says.

"I can't do this alone!" I say laughing.

We start to throw our darts and pop balloons. "Oh god..." I say nervously.

"You got this Red. I believe in you." He says giving me a small smile. I know... I mean no!

I exhale and throw the dart. I see a balloon pop and I hug Ethan. "We did it!" I say smiling.

He wraps his arm around my waist and asks, "What do you want as your prize?" Please stop.

I turn around and ask the worker, "Can I please have the pink donut?"

"Of course!" The worker says handing me a pink donut pillow.

"Let's go to the mini rollercoaster!" Ellie says to Ethan.

"Ya!" Jade says dragging me towards the rollercoasters.

"What do you guys want for dessert?" I ask everyone.

"Dippin' Dots!" Jade says.

"Cotton candy please!" Ellie says.

"You." Ethan murmurs.

"What?" I ask not sure I heard that right.

"Funnel cake please!" He says laughing a little.

Once I buy everyone their snacks we start to exit the carnival. "I can't believe it's already 11!" Jade says.

"Ya! It seems like we just got here..." Ellie says.

"So you guys had a lot of fun?" I ask them.

"Yes!" They say at the same time.

When we get to my house we all exit the car and Ethan walks me to the door with Jade. I unlock the door and she walks into the house with her food and prizes. Stop. "Thanks for going to the carnival with me." He says.

"No problem! It was really fun!" I say smiling.

"See you on Monday, Red."

"See you!" I say giving him a quick hug.

I put the pink donut on my bench and get ready for bed. After I finish taking a shower and brushing my teeth I get in bed and lie down. Ya... How the hell am I supposed to get rid of these feelings?

Fuck no. When he tells me he doesn't like me back it'll just be awkward trying to be just friends. That's almost impossible! We have classes together and work together.

I don't even get why I like him! I've only known him for like three months! I don't know! Is that even enough time to know someone before dating?

What if I'm just overthinking all my feelings and I don't actually like him? But what if I actually don't?

His smile makes my heart stop. I love it when he calls me by my nickname. His eyes are gorgeous. I don't know I just really like hazel eyes. No they're shit colored. They look like poop.

He's funny and kind. I could literally just hang out with him and never get bored. He's actually why I like going to work now. He's also caring about his family. We can joke around and also talk about serious things with no judgement.

Sigh... Crushes are so stupid. I never asked for these feelings! I scream into my pillow and just stare at the ceiling. After about two minutes I feel my eyes start to droop and fall asleep.
