"Shut up Jaem, I'll deck you in the jaw I swear." Seowoo deadpanned, glaring up at the boy with her arms defiantly crossed over her chest.

Jaemin, the said boy, had a bright gleaming smile on his pink lips that stretched so wide the girl wondered if it physically hurt his cheeks.

"You definitely have a crush." He grinned.

Seowoo pursed her lips, narrowing her eyes at him to conceal the fact she grew flustered.

"Crush my ass." She retorted, rolling her eyes.

"Speaking of," Seyeon spoke up, taking sips from her coffee. "Chenle seems to be relaxed with you now."

Seowoo shrugged in response.

"I mean, it's been now what, like two months since we met and for the most part- he hated me."

"True." Seyeon agreed.

"Are you going to try and change him?" Jieun spoke up and the girl directed her attention to the speaker.

"What do you mean?" She questioned as she began to tie her hair out of her face with strands that didn't it in her bun falling to frame it.

"Like make him a better person, changing him to be nicer and shit." Jieun explained.

Seowoo's lips curved up and she scoffed out a short airy laugh under her breath at the idea.

"I'm not trying to change him, it isn't my responsibility. I don't see why I should change him you know?

I mean I can definitely help better himself but that's up to him."

"Damn, who knew you were that smart." Renjun commented and Seowoo gasped, launching a pillow directly at him.

"Dude, don't you think Draco Malfoy is hot." Heejin spoke as they all had a Harry Potter marathon.

"Yes!" Seowoo exclaimed out.

"Chill...not at you all simping over a like 15 year old fictional character." Seyeon voiced and Heejin stuck her tongue out at her.

"You have no taste."

"Yes I do, I'm dating Hyuck."

"Exactly, no taste." Renjun deadpanned.

Hey Princess :)

Your house is really nice, especially the locked basement.

"The fuck...." Seowoo trailed off, bewildered by the text.

"Hm?" Jaemin hummed, immersed into the movie but Seowoo shook her head.

There was an unsettling feeling simmering inside her as she got up, narrowed eyes and hurrying up the steps taking two at a time with her heart lodged in her throat.

"Oh hey Jisung- have you seen Chenle?" Seowoo hurried out and the male sported a quizzical look before humming.

"Training?" He offered as a suggestion. "Or the basketball court!" Jisung yelled out to the girl that had already taken off.

Her palms pushed the two doors open that screeched once it blew back in the wind at the force.

Shining brightly, the sun scorched down on her and she was forced to shield her eyes with her hand.

The outside area was vast, stretching on for acres into the distance and Seowoo felt the warm rays of heat beating down on her as she took steps away from the building.

She spotted a few people training, fighting with each other- ragged breaths and bruised.

Wincing, the girl averted her eyes as she desperately scanned the area for Chenle.

As soon as her eyes locked on the figure, a subconscious smile took up the space on her lips.

Alongside the boy running around the court with a thin navy and white muscle fit sport t-shirt and black shorts, there were five other males.

She didn't recognize them but concluded they were in the gang as Chenle was playing with them.

Hesitantly, she approached them and could now hear the heavy breaths and yells for the basketball to be thrown towards them.

Her eyes naturally drifted over the the black haired boy that enticed her, alluring her in a trance of just him.

Chenle was smooth yet sharp and quick on his feet as he dodged the other guys heading towards him.

She could almost feel the thrill surging through his body, hair pushing back effortlessly in the wind and back muscles flexing when Chenle crouched down and jumped to shoot.

He scored of course.

"Yes!" He yelled out in triumph, high fiving his teammate with a ghost of a sly smile on his face. "See that Kang? Looks like my 15th win this week." Chenle teased.

Kang- the boy in red huffed and glared at the boy.

"Shut up Chenle, that was just luck."

Chenle scoffed out a laugh at his friends distaste towards losing.

"Come on, let's play again." Another called out, bouncing the ball and catching it again.

Seowoo took it as her time to approach, reaching them as one's eyes naturally fell to her and raking his gaze over the length of her body to her face.

"Uh," she began, making her presence noticed and all heads turned towards her- not including Chenle who was crouched down tying his laces.

"Hey gorgeous you up for a match?" One asked, holding up the ball and she shook her head with a friendly smile to decline.

"Damn," one whistled lowly as he looked at her. "I haven't seen you around before, what's your name?"

"Seowoo." She quipped quickly and at the sound of her name, Chenle's head snapped up and his eyes immediately caught sight of the girl talking to his friends.

"How old are you?"

"I'm seventeen-"

"Seventeen? Oh...so when are you turning Eighteen?"

Before Seowoo even opened her mouth to speak, Chenle had interjected with his presence and immediately looked at the girl.

She smiled up at him when she saw him.

"Hey, Jisung told me you were here." She began.

The other boys completely disregarded Chenle's presence, their eyes stuck to the beautiful girl in front of them.

"Seowoo's a pretty name for a pretty girl." One spoke with a dashing smile. "Can I get your number if you're okay with-"

Chenle exhaled harshly from his nose, jaw clenched as he pushed away the hand his friend held out with his phone.

"No you can't have it." He muttered, his calloused fingers grasping onto Seowoo's wrist and begining to walk off- her following him.

"What's with you and flirting with everyone?" He shook his head disapprovingly.

"What?" She gawked. "I wasn't flirting."

"Whatever," he stopped, turning around to her and running his fingers through his sweaty hair. "What did you need me for?"

"Oh yeah," she began, grabbing her phone from her pocket nose scrunching up as she searched for the text.

Chenle watched almost entranced, unable to compell himself to stop as her features glowed in the afternoon sun.

As soon as she found it, she shuffled closer to him so their arms brushed against each other and she showed him the text.

Chenle squinted his eyes due to the sun not allowing him to see the message so he bowed his head down to see it.

Seowoo's eyes raked over his side profile until they immediately fell to the ink peeking from the top of his shirt.

Curious, she leaned towards it just a bit and Chenle could feel her presence getting closer so he lifted his head to see what she was doing.

The boy halted as soon as he did, her light brown eyes glistened and widened once she realised how close they were.

Rooted in place, she felt the erratic beating of her heart commence again.

"U-uh, nice tattoo!" She blurted out, pointing to below his neck.

Chenle's eyes drifted over her features before his lips pulled up at her awkwardness, standing up straight as he shook his head, looking down as he smiled in amusement to himself.

Seowoo narrowed her eyes at the boy.

"What are you laughing at?" She asked offended and he shook his head- pursing his lips together.

"Nothing." He shrugged lightly.

"Nothing my ass Zhong, you're so irritating."

"Thanks Angel, truly appreciate it." He gestured a lazy thumbs up.

Seowoo rolled her eyes yet couldn't help but laugh at him.

"Weirdo." She commented. "But, what do you think?"

Chenle hummed lowly, glancing at the text again.

"Whoever it is, is trying to lure you into a trap. Don't go today, we can check it out tomorrow." He spoke authoritatively.

She nodded in agreement yet couldn't help the bad feeling in her gut.

"Hey, you ever played basketball?" He spoke up, nodding over to the now empty court.

She directed her own eyes to it before turning back to him.

"I mean, back in like year 9 yeah." She commented and he raised a brow at her.

"What? I couldn't be bothered to take part after that, leave me alone okay?"

"Alright," he began as he walked over the the court with the ball spinning as he threw it up and caught it. "Let's see how good you are Angel." He spoke with a cocky smirk.

Seowoo scoffed at him, already tying her hair up, thankful she wore a t-shirt and sweatpants and not jeans- tucking in her T-shirt so it wouldn't fly up or anything.

"You're on Lele." She swiftly knocked the ball out of his hand when he was caught off guard and giggled at the fact he wasn't expecting her to get it in the hoop on the first throw.

Chenle was clearly in shock from his lips parted and eyes stuck on her.

"And you said you haven't played since year 9, liar."

Her grin faded into a sad smile and she shrugged.

"I loved playing with Jeongmin...I just haven't since you know?"

Seowoo went to grab the ball in her hands, looking down at it as she became reminded of him.

The growing pit in her stomach made the claws of her past grip up her throat and scratch at it.

He noticed her sudden change in mood, walking over to the girl.

"You don't have to play-"

"I want to." She whispered. "I haven't done anything I loved to do for eleven months." Begining to realise how much her brother's death had stunted her happiness.

"He wouldn't want to see me like that, throwing everything away." She shook her head, blinking away the tears lining her waterline.

His hand reached out without thinking about it first, his index finger resting under her chin and thumb on top of it as he urged her head up.

Caught off guard, her glassy eyes looked up at his own. The sun began to set, the burnt orange hues illuminating onto them both.

Her chest rose and fell irregularly, his dark brown eyes becoming an ocean of her favourite thing to delve into, heart almost painfully clenching as she knew too well she was in over her head.

Unlike the stoic gaze and dark eyes he had piercing into her when they first met, now they were gentler, inviting and almost vulnerable.

A part of her had a glimmer of hope he'd feel the same way as her, they'd say they're friends but she always felt herself drawn towards him no matter what the situation was.

She watched, unable to move away from his grip and instead wanted to move towards him. His swirling brown eyes held so much depth and she swore it became her favourite thing about him.

His fingers were still on her chin, lifting her head up to look him in the eyes and there were a few seconds- which felt like years- that passed.

There was a lurching of her heart as his eyes unmistakably flickered down to her pink hued lips, glossy from the watermelon lipgloss she had an unhealthy obsession with.

Thoughts circled around her head, deluding herself to believe it meant nothing.

But did it?

Friends don't look at friends that way though.
