The words you spit out kill me like bullets
You don't embrace me but the trigger you pull it
"Why did you come to get me?" Seowoo asked as she had her feet on the ground, sliding her helmet off as Chenle stopped in front of an abandoned building.
"We found a lead, it's worth checking out." He said, turning the loud roaring engine off and swiftly getting up from the motorcycle.
The girl nodded, looking back at the building as she squinted her eyes due to the harsh rays of sun.
"What were the leads?"
"Your Brother came here before he died, before he picked you up. Jisung said he had this address in his notes section too." Chenle informed her, refilling his gun with bullets.
"It looks abandoned though..." She trailed off, eyeing the raggedy old building and face contorting into disgust; cowering away from the horrid sight.
Chenle sighed, rolling his eyes and begining to walk towards the dark entrance.
"Come on." He urged, leisurely begining to saunter towards it fearlessly.
"But...why is it just us two- didn't you call the others?"
"Yeah, they're coming soon- your school was on the way."
"Oh," she said in acknowledgement but then her gaze hardened as she glared at the back of his head. "You didn't have to be so rude to Beomgyu though." She scolded.
Chenle stopped by the door, turning around towards the girl- eyebrows cocked up with amusement swimming in his dark eyes.
"What, is he your boyfriend or something?"
Seowoo crossed her arms over her chest and pushed her chin up with her glare hardening.
"What's it to you if he is or isn't? You can't just be rude to everyone."
"Well, I don't really care if I hurt your friends feelings to be honest." Chenle shrugged, holding the padlock from the doors in his hand and eyeing it.
"Well you should, being a dickhead gets you nowhere."
"Yeah, I get the job done quicker."
"You have no remorse do you?" She scoffed, staring at the boy who kneeled on one knee as he tried to unlock the doors.
"You know it." He quipped uninterested.
Seowoo glanced around, the place around them being run down and scruffy- it didn't look too friendly and she ran her fingers through her long hair as she wearily looked around.

Tapping her feet on the ground, she found herself biting down on her fingernails anxiously as Chenle worked on the lock.
The said boy clenched his jaw before exhaling sharply through his nose, harshly turning his head to look up at the girl.
"Do you mind? I can't concentrate." He spoke, pulling her from the thoughts that consumed her- pulling her hand from her mouth and halting her actions.
"It's too quiet, I'm bored." She muttered in response.
"Then go busy yourself, this lock is more complicated than I thought." He trailed off into a murmer.
She hugged herself to emit some warmth, sighing and leaning against the wall next to the door; eyes falling on the homeless man walking down the street opposite.
"Do you ever feel like you take life for granted?" She spoke out loud, sight following him as he scavenged through trash cans.
There was a frustrated grunt that came from the boy as he attempted to forcefully rip the padlock off.
"Cuz, like sometimes I think about what I have and I feel bad for hating my life- you know?" Seowoo commented, turning her head to lazily look at the boy.
"Yeah." He replied, focused on the lock.
"It's not going to open."
"It might if you shut up."
"Right, don't lie- you love my rambling."
There was a silence after her words as he didn't reply and a humoured breathy laugh fell from her lips, rolling her eyes.
"Ah Chenle, what are we going to do with you?" She muttered.
"What?" He questioned and Seowoo ago her head with a smile playing on her lips.
"Nothing- it's just hard trying to be your friend when you're so damn cold all the time."
"Sorry," he muttered an apology, squinting his eyes at the lock as he forced a twig inside the keyhole. "I don't realise I'm doing it sometimes, it's instinct."
Seowoo felt a little guilty after his confession, her shoulders slumping whilst she began to think what he had possibly have gone through.
"It's okay, everyone opens up at their own pace." She said softer than her teasing tone, resting her head on the wall.
"I'm just..." He began, hesitating to even say his mind.

"Hm?" She hummed, turning her attention towards him as he internally debated with himself.
"I'm just uncomfortable with people, I don't trust easily."
"Because you've been hurt by someone? You know not everyone will hurt you, some people you need in your life and will be there to make you happy."
"I don't really need anyone." He admitted with a shrug, standing up with a sigh. "I haven't needed anyone in a long time."
Her eyes softened, a sympathetic flood of emotions filling her as she stared at the boy who began typing on his phone.
"You might not feel like you need anyone but other people might need you."
"Like who?" He scoffed out wryly.
"Me, I need you because you're the only one I can trust with this case."
Chenle glanced up in surprise, his eyebrows inching up slightly and he became frozen for a second.
"Yeah well, it's my job."
"Is it?" She inquired. "I thought you carried out missions, not solved cases." Seowoo pointed out, leaning against the wall as he stood in front of her.
There was a temporary silence that surrounded them as he was at a short stump of words.
Was it his job?
"Why are you even helping me Chenle?" The curious girl asked, knowing he definitely had better things to do.
"Because you told me to help you." He replied nonchalantly.
"You could easily have declined."
Chenle placed his phone back into his pocket, lifting his head to meet her gaze- staring into her honey swirled brown eyes.
"I know how much it means to you, I can see it in your eyes- like it's the only thing that will make you feel better.
So...if it can make you feel at ease then I guess I can play my part to help."
Seowoo was completely taken off guard, eyes inching wide.
"I didn't think you really cared."
He shrugged.
"I know how you feel so at least one of us should feel better right?"
Her lips conformed downwards into a frown, stepping from the wall and towards him as her hand placed delicately yet comfortingly on his shoulder.
"It doesn't have to just be one of us, we can both heal from it you know? You don't deserve to keep hurting silently, it's okay to..." She trailed off, attempting to find the words.
"I'm fine, it's nothing." He brushed off, turning around to go back to the door yet Seowoo's hand outstretched- clasping onto his to stop him.
He halted, turning his head for his eyes to fall on her empathetic gaze.
"I mean it Chenle, you don't deserve to be hurting." She said sincerely, quieter as her voice spoke with raw emotion. "Why do you keep ignoring your own feelings?"
He scoffed, shaking his head as she knew nothing- not even the depths of his past that had caused the pain he endures today.
Chenle yanked his hand from her grip, causing her to step back from the force and her hand brushed against the brick wall behind her.
The pain and rage fuelled around him, bubbling inside and threatening to burst out as he strode over to the girl.
It was instinctive, sudden and unexpected as the boy's strides stopped right in front of her- his palm landing on the wall near but not close enough to her head as he looked down at her with an unreadable emotion.
Seowoo stepped back once he was advancing on her, back hitting the wall and breath hitching in bewilderment- eyes meeting his.
"Because if I let myself feel then the people I care for die because I forgot how to be happy! I'm that fucked up Seowoo." His breaths were heavy, voice deep and his fist clenched by his side.
There was a tension that clogged the air and hung above them heavily, her swallowing the dry spit down her throat and forcing herself to keep the intense eye contact.
"You're not fucked up," she began defiantly, not breaking the eye contact as he looked down at her.
"You said that sometimes you have to learn to survive in it- you don't." She shook her head. "You can choose to overcome it and not allow it to control you anymore."
It's getting a bit tense up in here 😳 pinning her against the wall ok Chenle I see u

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. TAG DISCLAIMER: The tags 'Portal Fantasy / isekai', 'High Fantasy', and 'Non-Human Lead' do not take place until later on in the novel. Probably mid-way through the first volume. The 'villainous lead' tag is a very loose tag. Some of the things the mc does can be considered villainous to those with a staunch moral code, however, I have not made the mc out to be overtly villainous. True Title: Advent of the Silent Storm (I came up with the original title a while ago, before I had even written a single chapter. It still kind of fits but this new title fits a lot better. I would change it but I don't know if it would screw up the recommendation algorithm.) Excerpt: My mind wanders through the soup of unconsciousness, still startlingly awake despite my physical form’s stasis. Electricity completely paralyzes the air around me and lightning flashes in a constant strobe of blinding light. The ground, thousands of feet below my being has been wiped clean of all manmade artifice and natural beauty; leveled, through absolute power. My power. Synopsis: Tetal Faelen, a very successful businessman with lofty goals, is introduced to an omniscient being through less than pleasant means. This being has an irresistible offer for Tetal with next to no downside. Tetal can’t help but wonder, “What’s the catch?” Additional Notes: Second novel I have started within the Web of Interconnected Realities. My other novel is not posted on this site so don't bother looking for it. I might post it here in the future.
