---Tsuki's P.O.V---
"King..." I choke out. I can't feel pain anymore. Only numbness.
"Who did this? Who did such a terrible thing to Tsuki and Diane?" King asks quietly. It's almost hard to hear. "Was it you?!" He turns to the guy, I think his name is Howzer. "Or you?!" He turns to Guila, who's holding her brother Zeal.
"It wasn't them...Those two...Protected me...So please...Don't blame them..." Diane chokes out.
"Please Diane...Don't talk...You'll only hurt yourself..." I try to say. My throat feels all closed up and all I taste is blood. King walks over to Howzer. He starts punching him, which obviously doesn't affect him at all.
"You call that protecting her?! You didn't protect her at all!" He yells and keeps punching. "Quit messing around! Apologize!" He keeps on going. Stop...
"King...Please...Stop...You're only going to hurt yourself..." I say loud enough for him to hear me. He turns around to face me with a bloody fist.
"Why? Why? Why is it that I can never...ever...protect the people that I care about?" He cries.
"Don't worry...about me..." I manage to say. "You'll only...hurt yourself..."
"Me?! Hurt myself?! What about you?!" He turns to me, tears in his eyes.
"Please...Don't worry about me...I'll be fine..." I say, faking a smile. "Don't...underestimate...the power of...Neko..."I drag myself up, putting on a brave act. I'm screaming with panic on the inside. I'm not ready to die! Not yet! I half walk-half drag myself over to where he is. He just stands there, staring at me with tears spilling from eyes. "Please...don't cry..." I wipe the tears from his eyes. "You'll only...make me cry...So...Be happy...Okay?" I smile, accidentally letting a tear fall from mine. I collapse. I can hear Helbram yelling at him but all sounds are muffled.
"Shut up!" King yells at him and sends Chastiefol at him. King sets me down by Diane. I no longer have the strength to open my eyes. I can only hear the fight. It sounds like King is winning. "Go back to your true form. In that body, you're limiting your magical power. Helbram!" King tells him. From somewhere, I find the strength to open my eye. Helbram is...a fairy? Suddenly, I feel myself lifted into the air and I'm by Helbram's side.
"Is it little kitty cat, here? I'll admit, she is quite pretty. Maybe, I'll take her for myself after I crush you. Yeah, that's a plan. I'll crush the Giant Girl and steal Kitty Cat." Helbram grins.

"No...King only...Hands off..." I struggle. He laughs.
"Feisty too. I like her." Helbram drops me but catches me with some sort of tree thing. He puts me back next to Diane. My eyes close and my strength fades. I hear King get hurt. I can't move. I can't hear anymore. I can't see. Every breath is a struggle. I feel like I'm underwater, slowly sinking towards the dark, cold of the ocean. Time seems to slow. I almost want to reach out, but the water is against me. Yes, I must be drowning. And yet, I feel a warmth flowing through my body. A light. The cold, darkness of the bottom of the ocean fades away to replace with warm light. It envelops me like a warm hug, giving me strength. I find the strength to open my eyes to see myself in the palm of Diane's hand. King is sitting next to me, staring right at me.
"Huh?" I sit up.
"Tsuki! We thought you'd never wake up!" Diane smiles at me.
"Hi Diane. Are you all better?" I ask and she nods.
"Me too." I smile. I turn to King. "Hi King." I say softly.
"Hi Tsuki. How are you feeling?" He looks at me with a soft look in his eyes, feeling my head.
"I'm alright. Thank you for protecting us." I take his hand from my head and hold it.
"I'm just so happy that you're okay. For a second there, we thought we lost you." He says, eyes brimming with tears. I wipe them away.
"But I'm okay now. So don't cry." I smile at him. He only nods and gives me a hug.
"I'd kiss you, but Diane is watching." He whispers into my ear and I blush.
"I guess I'll have to wait~" I fake-sigh, smiling. We stand around to see tons of thunderbolts in the distance.
"Another thunderbolt? How many is that now?" Howzer asks.
"There's no question that Gilthunder is doing it. But, he's gotta be fighting the Captain, right?" Diane turns to King and I. I nod.
"Yeah, I guess so." King agrees.
"I'm not sensing Ban's power." Gowther's voice says. I turn in surprise to see Gowther awake and alive.
"Gowther!" I say excitedly. "I'm so happy-"
"Where did he go?" Gowther cuts me off. Elaine.
"I need to go. I'll be right back." I say, jumping off Diane's palm and landing on the ground. I sprint to to the castle, breaking into the dungeon and catching up with Ban. "Ban!" I pant.

"Yeah?" He turns around.
"Let me help." I say determinedly. He rolls his eyes and motions for me to come with him. I grin. We're going to get Elaine back! We descend to see the Trumpet of Cernunos. My jaw drops. It's huge!
"So this is the Trumpet of Cernunos, huh? You've gotta be kidding me. The thing is frickin' massive!" Ban exclaims. "Yo! Goddess or whoever, is there anybody home? Hey, if someone can hear me, I want you to revive Elaine. And in exchange, take my life." Ban calls out. My eyes widen. No...Ban can't die. "Hey! You listening?" He calls out again.
"Scratch that, I want you to bring back Elaine in exchange for my life." I step forwards, pushing him back. No response.
"Oh well, I guess it wouldn't be that easy, would it?" Ban turns around to walk away.
"Who are you?" A voice says. We turn around. We see Hawk up there. "Is that you? What the hell are you doing up there?! Come to think of it, why are you here?!" Ban yells at Hawk.
"You tell me! Where is this place? Where is Elizabeth?!" Hawk yells back angrily. I wave hello. Hawk comes down to us. He explains what happened.
"So, you're telling us that you got blasted down here by the mage who took Elizabeth?" I ask.
"Yeah, she was probably scared what would happen if I let my true power out." Hawk sniffs arrogantly.
"I'm sure that was it." I say sarcastically.
"Anyway, let's get out of here. Now, the first thing we've gotta do is rescue Elizabeth." Hawk orders.
"Yeah, about that...You better go on ahead without us." I say.
"You're not coming?" Hawk asks. We can't leave, not yet. There's still something we've gotta do.
"Correct. There is something you two need to do." The trumpet lights up and says. My eyes widen.
"Come out and face us! Just show yourself already!" Ban calls out angrily.
"Unfortunately, that's not possible now. All of our power was lost in the ancient war. It will take some time to restore ourselves into what we were before. Nevertheless, resurrecting one fairy would be little more than a trifle for us." The voice answers.
"I know bringing this up might bite me in the ass but, here goes. About these wishes, do you Goddesses really grant them for any random person who walks in and wants one? If she exchanges her life for hers will you-"Ban starts.
"No. We have no intention of taking her life. Instead, we will give you a mission." The Goddess says.
"Okay, we're in. I'll do anything you want." Ban says.
"We want you to kill a certain person." She says.
"Are you serious? For somebody as noble as a Goddess, that's a pretty dark request." Ban says and I shake my head in disapproval.
"So you refuse to accept this mission, then?" She asks.
"Weren't you listening? I said we'd do anything." Ban says annoyedly.
"Now, who is it?" I ask.
"At present, he is known by this name. Seven Deadly Sins, Dragon Sin...Meliodas." My eyes widen. I can't kill him! I mustn't! No way! And yet, I think of Elaine's smiling face. She'd be so happy with Ban. Should I do it? It's not like I can. Suddenly my ears perk up. Trouble.
"Ban! The Sins are in trouble!" I yell.
"Let's go." He says. We run up to find Meliodas and Gilthunder on the floor and King crying in the air.
"Ban. Tsuki. Help me out here. It's Elizabeth. Hendrickson's taken her away." He grunts.
"Not again! These Holy Knights are out of control!" Hawk walks over to Meliodas. Should I kill him? Should I try? "Ban and Tsuki, the three of us need to get moving and rescue Elizabeth. Let's go!" Hawk yells at us. Ban and I just stare at Meliodas. Hawk talks but I don't hear him. If Ban makes a move, I will too.
"Well, I really do love you, Captain." Ban says and cuts off Meliodas's arm. I slide my claws out. So this is it. "And I don't want you to suffer, so don't resist." He catches Meliodas's arm.
"Never!" Meliodas yells and punches Ban. He turns to me. "And you, Tsukiko? You're going along with him?" He gives me an angry look. I look down in shame.
"It's for Elaine. I just don't know what to do anymore! I can't! I want Elaine back, but I want you alive too! It's my fault she died. I should have stayed with her." Tears sting my eyes. "I can't do this anymore. Ban, you resurrect her. I'm not doing it." I turn around and walk away, retracting my claws.

This fiction belongs to the same universe as Ancient Blood. English is not my native language, so please don't be harsh. This story is an adaption of an idea, that we, a friend of mine and me, have developed over a few months while taking a break from learning. Some parts were written by Emberspark. Thank you for allowing me to work with your ideas and letting me publish this as a whole. Updates... I will try to frequently update both of my fictions... Well in case you are interested I post it on Scribble hub, too. I really don't steal from myself 😂

The Animo Saga
Before history was well-recorded in the world of Ulakam, primordial animal spirits adopted humans, provided protection and developed deep spiritual connections with them. Millennia later, humans now host animal spirits and are split into tribes named for the species they host. Ulakam is slowly being consumed by a decades-long war pitting the main tribes against the smaller tribes and a group of bandits calling themselves "the resistance". Callida Animo was born into this world. Coming from a mixed family of generational soldiers, Callida joined the family business at a young age. In her words, she was practically bred, born, and raised to be a soldier. And she's good at what she does... which inevitably attracts attention that makes her unambitious self extremely uncomfortable. Love, loss, influence and growth. This is her story. Written episodically, this story focuses on relationships and character growth through a series of mini-arcs that connect to make a greater whole. (Honestly, the story would lend itself well to a TV series.) "Episodes" range from 3-7 chapters (at least so far), and average about 4 or 5 chapters. Author's note: I'm always thrilled to receive comments, follows, ratings/reviews, messages.... All forms of feedback are welcome and encouraged. However, I have no interest in begging readers for more engagement to get better visibility. I tried that with my last story and found the game soul-sucking. So! This constitutes my only self-promotion request. If you are reading this story, let me know what you think! I love engaging with my readers. We'll see if growing the readership organically is even possible. Thank you! 😘 Release schedule: Weekly on Wednesday afternoons
