Natsu pov:

“Natsu? Whats that sound?” I speaker sounded and Sesshomaru’s eyes went blood red. I flinched as he growled at me. “Stay behind Natsu. Sesshomaru doesn’t seem to be in a good mood.” Rei said and I gulped. I bit my lip. Why was he acting like this? Everyone was so scared that the other guards who were in the cockpit ran out in fear.

“Sesshomaru….what happened? Why are you so angry?” I stepped out from behind Rei but he held me back again. “Get away from that man!” Sesshomaru growled and I blinked. He was….jealous? Really? I sighed and the speaker rang again. “Natsu? Rei? Are you there?”

I sighed and moved away from Rei to the speaker. Sesshomaru growled and slashed Haku on his chest, leaving him bleeding on the ground. Rei tried to stop Sesshomaru from getting to me and they were holding swords against each other. Sesshomaru’s eyes were still red and I knew I had to get this conversation done soon, or else we might end up in a big problem.

I picked up the speaker and held it to my mouth. “Hey professor. Sorry about that….well the situation here is kinda complicated. Can I get back to you in a minute?” “Oh, yeah I guess….if you say so.” I put the speaker away and turned off the communication system.

I turned to Rei and Sesshomaru who were still fighting and took a deep breath. “Rei, stop fighting.” He glanced at me and cursed. “What are you, crazy? Look at this guy! At this rate, he’ll kill you!” Rei yelled back and I sighed. “Rei, stop fighting, take Haku and leave the room. I want to talk to Sesshomaru alone.”

They jumped away and stared at me. I was giving a hard look to Rei and he sighed giving up. “You are so stubborn sometimes.” He muttered and walked to Haku. He picked him up over his shoulder and walked out of the cockpit. He closed the door behind him and I sighed closing my eyes. Sesshomaru walked to me and pushed me against the metal wall of the room with a hand on my neck.

His hold was tight, but I held his hand gently and stared into his red eyes. My eyes glazed over and I cupped his cheek with my other hand. “Sesshomaru…..why are you angry?” I asked softly. “I wont let you be touched by anyone besides me!” He growled and I let out a soft chuckle. I touched his hair and ran my fingers through it.

“Sesshomaru, you have to understand. This is important to us. Its true, I lived in your castle and I fell in love with you. But I do miss home….I miss my family, my friends….just as I would miss you and Rin and Kaito. That’s why I have to use this chance….if I can see my family once…..I promise I’ll come back to you.”

He growled and pushed me harder into the wall of the plane. “Wench!” I sighed and closed my eyes. “Sesshomaru, you have to trust me. This isn’t my life, but I’m willing to come back to you because I care for you, Rin and Kaito. I just want to see my family once. Please….” I asked softly and stared into his eyes.

His eyes came back to their usual golden color but he was still glaring. “I’m not going to leave you out of my sight.” I bit the inside of my cheek. The way he was saying it, I would probably never get home. The only option I had was to probably take him along with me. I took a breath and looked at him hesitantly.”W-why don’t you come with us? I mean, you said you don’t want to leave me….and that’s the only idea I can come up with.”

He narrowed his eyes, but let go on my neck. I took steps closer to him and placed my hands on his armor while hugging him slightly. I closed my eyes and sighed. “We’ll just be gone for a little while….I promise.” I felt his arm wrap around me and we just stood in silence. “Just for a while.” I heard him mutter and I smiled wide. I pulled away and grinned at him.”Thanks Sesshomaru! You’re the best!”

Then I frowned. “Only problem…..we have to get all these demons to leave this so called ‘cave’.” I muttered and Sesshomaru smirked. I widened my eyes and gasped jokingly since it was very rare to see him smirk. And if he did, it meant something big like a fight. “I’ll drive them out. They should pay for touching you.” I rolled my eyes but followed him out of the cockpit.

Rei was standing there with several demons pointing spears at him and I sweatdropped. “All of you pathetic demons get out of this cave before I slaughter you all.” Sesshomaru growled and I shivered at the venom in his voice. I actually felt a little scared the way he said it. The dragon demons hesitated and when one of them tried to rebel, Sesshomaru grabbed his neck tightly. And if I hadn’t stopped him, he would have snapped his neck in half.

Seeing that his words weren’t empty threats, they glared at all of us and left the plane. When they had all got out of the plane, I also jumped out and Sesshomaru followed me suspiciously. Rin and Kaito were inside with Jaken under Sesshomaru’s orders and Rei got out as well. “Rei, help me cut the vines. It will be a problem when we take off.”

He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms giving me a hard look. He didn’t move and I started cutting the vines with a dagger. I looked back at him and he was watching me impatiently and the dragon demons continued to glare, especially the leader Haku who had become conscious again. I sighed and held a hand on my hip as I turned to face Rei. “What?” He walked to me and flicked me on the forehead. I winced and rubbed the spot while glaring. Sesshomaru walked up with a growl and I held his haori before he could start another fight.

“How are we gonna take off, genius? We don’t have a runway!” Rei yelled and I rolled my eyes. I went back to cutting the vines and I answered his question. “Test flight aircrafts have the machinery to turn the engines upwards and we can lift off like a helicopter. So stop glaring and start cut the vines!” “Oh…” he said stupidly and went ahead with cutting the vines.

After about half an hour, we had cleared off the whole green cover and we could see the whole fuselage. All the demons and Sesshomaru were stunned by the new appearance of the so called cave and were looking at it suspiciously.

“That’s done…..so now lets see if this baby can fly.” I said with a mad grin and got into the plane again. After we were all in, I shut the door tightly making it air tight and looked around. Rin and Kaito looked nervous and it had caused his wings to come out. I smiled sadly and walked to them. I got on my knees and patted their heads. “Don’t be scared, ok? I’m used to flying this so you don’t have to be afraid of anything.”

I stood up and looked to Rei. “Rei, can you sit with them please? Sesshomaru will sit with me in the co pilot’s seat, and I want you to be here to make sure they don’t get scared ok?” He nodded and smiled. I picked up Rin and Kaito and sat them down on 2 seats. I pulled the seat belt and buckled them securely. They looked a little nervous and Sesshomaru was watching with narrow eyes.

Rei sat down next to them and he buckled up as well. “If you need anything, just call out, ok?” He told me and I nodded with a smile. I looked around, and Jaken was still lost in the situation. I giggled, picked him up and strapped him to a seat too despite his whining. Though he did shut up when Sesshomaru sent him a warning glare. When that was done, I motioned for Sesshomaru to follow me to the cockpit and I made him sit down in the co pilot seat.

I pulled the seat belt over him as well and he frowned. “Why are you trying to tie all of us?” He growled and I sat down in the pilot’s seat and buckled up as well. “Its for safety. When I take off, its best if everyone is strapped down.”

I put on the huge head set that we used for communicating with the control tower and I switched on the communication system. “Hey professor, you still there?” I asked and the headset crackled before I got a response. “Right here Natsu chan.” I smiled and rolled my eyes when Sesshomaru growled again. “I’m ready for take off….”

“Hmm, how much fuel do you have? A vertical take off usually takes fuel enough for half an hour of the flight.” I reached up and switched on several buttons. I heard and felt a vibration and I looked back from the window to see that the engines had turned upwards. I pressed several other buttons turning their lights on and starting the gear and pressure indicators.

I looked at the fuel gauge and I nodded. “Besides the take off, I think we should have enough fuel for a 2 and a half hour flight.” “Ok, that’s good. Now lets see if you can get back.”

I took a deep breath and held the steering. I pushed the throttle bar upwards and heard the engines burn the fuel and I could notice the foliage around the plane rustle violently at the pressure. I pushed the throttle further and the planes slowly began to get off the ground.

I had flown helicopters and hover crafts before too, so I knew how to handle a vertical take off. I smiled but I saw Sesshomaru tense beside me. “Natsu, whats happening?” I could make out the nervousness in his voice and I giggled to myself. “Don’t worry, I’m going to fly this. Demons aren’t the only ones who can fly you know?” I grinned at him and he failed at maintaining his stoic face.

I kept increasing the throttle till we were high enough in the air and I slowly turned the engines backward and we ascended into the sky. We gained speed soon and even altitude and in about 15 minutes we were at 62,000 feet above sea level.

When we had got a decent speed and balance, I turned on the auto pilot and unbuckled myself. I removed the seat belt from Sesshomaru as well and we got up and he followed me out the cockpit. When we reached where the others were seated, Rin and Kaito were sitting with their eyes shut tightly and Rei was looking lost as to what to do.

I rolled my eyes when he look relieved seeing me appear and he got up from his seat as well. “I want you to stay in the cockpit. I’m just gonna look around the plane and make sure everything is functioning ok.” He nodded and saluted. “Roger that Captn’!” I chuckled and shook my head. He was obviously over excited about going home.

I helped Rin and Kaito out and Kaito clung to me and Rin to Sesshomaru. I patted Kiato’s head and smiled. “How about I show you around, hmm? This is the biggest transportation carriage that can fly in my world.” They seemed to get less scared and more amazed by what I said. I chuckled again and led them through the whole plane while avoiding bits and pieces of remaining rotten meat.

Just before we took off, Rei and I had tried to clean out as much of the remains of the demon clan’s food. But it was still kinda stinky and there were bits and pieces of remains and stains on the seats and the floor. But it was definitely better than it was before.

I walked all the way through the plane, checking wire check points and electric circuits while removing the panels. I went all the way back and reached the kitchen and the cargo hatch. I made sure no electric circuits were malfunctioning and I looked through the transparent plastic of the cargo hatch.

I frowned when I looked out the cargo hatch but nodded it off as it didn’t seem to be anything major. When I was done inspecting the whole thing and explaining some things to my curious onlookers, we headed back to the cockpit. This time everyone followed and since the cockpit was big, we could all stand there comfortably.

“So everything’s fine?” Rei asked while turning to me. I nodded. “The cargo hatch is a little damaged due to the crshe, but its not anything major. We should be fine.”

“Wow! You can see the clouds!” Kaito yelled and stood next to one of the glass windows. I smiled and hugged him from behind. “Isnt it beautiful? When I was at home, I got to see this almost 2 or 3 times a week.”

Rin had also come to look and they were quite enjoying the ride. I was snapped out of my dreamland when I head Rei’s nervous voice. “Um….Natsu? I think we have a problem.” I looked up and stiffened when I saw really thick storm clouds up ahead. I could hear thunder and we could see flashes of lightning.

“This is bad.” I muttered. I pushed Rei out of the way and got into the pilot’s seat. I switched off the auto pilot and took control of the steering. “I’m gonna try and lower us by a few notches.” I said and slowly reduced the altitude. We were just below the clouds and the static in the air was causing the glass to vibrate.

A flash of lightning appeared right in front of us and we all screamed. But when the bright light had faded, I saw buildings and roads and everything I remember of home. I widened my eyes and the speaker crackled again. “Natsu! I see your plane on the radar! You’re finally here! We found you!”

“Alright!” Rei yelled and I smiled relieved. “Runway 5 is open. You are clear for landing.” “Alright, professor.” I said and I got a glimps of the airport in the distance.

“I need you guys to go buckle up again. We’re gonna be landing and we cant have anyone thrown around.” Rei nodded and he took Rin and Kaito outside and Sesshomaru sat down next to me. I gave him instructions on how to put on the seat belt and I began to lower our altitude.

As I approached the runway, I pressed the button to bring out the landing wheels but it blinked red and gave a warning messege that the wheels were stuck. “Shoot….I’m gonna have to do a belly landing.” I mumbled and sighed. “Hey prof! I’m gonna do a belly landing. The wheels are stuck.”

“Seriously? Damn….be careful.” I took a deep breath. I had done a belly landing only once before and I tried to remember how I had done it. I tilted the plane at an angle and slowly lowered the speed and the altitude. We all felt the plane rumble as it touched the ground and I tightened my grip on the steering as shocks racked the body of the plane.

Finally after a few minutes, the plane came to stop with a loud screech. I was breathing unsteadily and I pulled my stiff hands away from the steering. I switched off the engines and the power supply of the plane and leaned back into the seat. “Excellent landing Natsu! The steps are near the door, you can get out now.”

I bit my lip. It was like a huge burden was lifted off my shoulders….and I was quite nervous for some reason. I nodded to Sesshomaru and we unbuckled. When we got out of the cockpit, everyone was waiting and I pushed open the door. There was the movable stairs that was there and we got down. Rin and Kaito were very nervous and Sesshomaru and Jaken looked very alert and suspicious.

When we finally made it to the gorund, my eyes widened in the direction of the control tower. “Natsu!” “Natsu, my darling!” My mouth went slightly wide and my eyes stung. Sesshomaru growled beside me at the 2 people who ran to me and I whispered. “Mom….Dad…..”

“Mom! Dad!” I yelled in happiness and I ran to them. I jumped at them and we fell into an embrace. “I missed you!” I said as tears of happiness rolled down my cheeks.
