《Reid and the awkward girl | S.R.》23

After a few minutes of Danny staring at the floor with wide eyes, and the team staring at Danny, someone finally talked.
"So I guess Reid's not gay?" Morgan broke the awkward silence with a teasing smirk.
Danny whipped her head up fast, "huh?!"
Morgan laughed out loud and explained to the whole team, plus Danny. "So I walked up behind Reid once and saw that it said "Dan the man" as a contact name. He was smiling while texting and I thought you were a guy," he directed that last part to Danny. "He kept referring to you as just 'Dan' so I guess we were all a little confused."
A nervous chuckle bubbled out uncontrollably. "Well, uh, you know, yeah, I'm a girl. Yeah," Danny stumbles over her words. Reid talks about her? She's too flustered. With that information and the fact that these people are her idols, it's hard to function. Danny feels about to short circuit from stress and fan girling.
Morgan chuckles at the girl and Prentiss slaps his chest with the back of her hand.
"So how did you and Reid meet," Prentiss tries to make the girl more comfortable. Danny cringes.
"College," she tries to keep it at that.
"Ah so let me guess, classic you-drop-your-books-and-guy-picks-it-up am I right?"
"Well, uh, no. He's my professor," Danny rushes out.
Rossi wheezes in his seat, hand over his heart. Danny ducks down like a turtle. Morgan slaps his knee with a 'My Man!' While everyone else tries to not stare wide eyed.
"David Rossi, was actually supposed to be my teacher," Danny tries to take their mind off the whole student/teacher relationship.
"Ah Charles' class. I see," the Italian man snaps out of his stupor.
Another silence ensues, one that Danny is not keen to be in. "Well if all we are going to do is wait around, all be aback at the station trying to find Spencer's shooter." Danny stands and walks over to the elevator.
"Wait, wait wait," Morgan runs over, followed by the rest of the team. "Sorry hun but you can't work on this case with us."

"I can and I will." She walks into the elevator.
"No" Morgan follows with the rest.
"Yes"
"No"
"Yes"
"Okay," Rossi drags out. "Come on children. Stop that." The elevator dings.
"The least we can do it offer you a ride back to the station," Hotch offers when Danny says she will have to call the station for a ride.
"Yeah, okay" she nods. Playing with her fingers she follows after him. He's definitely the most intimidating out of the whole team.
After a quick ride they are back at the station. Danny climbs out, passing Harold in the parking lot with a quick pat to make sure he's okay, then walking into the station like she owns it.
If she's going to run with the big dogs on this case, and help out Spencer, then she has to woman up. Dan the Man is out to play. Her father would be proud of her. No matter what the team say, she is working on this case.
She walks around the desks and sees though the glass a room covered in files with a board up. She walks in, ignoring the protests of Morgan behind her. Staring at the board, the artwork of Spencer Reid greats her. Pictures, notes, maps, markers and lines take up the entirety of the space. It's beautiful.
She admires it for a second before getting straight to work. She feels the team staring at her but she ignores it. Picking up a green marker she is reminded of the time she played the geographical profiling game with Spencer. He really was a good teacher.
Unfortunately, he didn't get the map entirely correct. Too short to reach the top of the board, Danny grabs the map from the bottom and rips the paper from the tacks.
"Okay princess thats enough," Morgan comes around to put his hands on her, thinking she is going to ruin the whole case.
Danny flinches is horror, mildly, but still noticeable to the team. She takes a step back, shakes it off and drops the map the floor. Kneeling down the girl draws a smaller circle around her old apartment building. She then closes her eyes trying to remember where else this man has been.

Disappointed, that's all she really knows. That's all she has to work with.
She sees two other circles right next to each other. Two other victims. She notices the way Reid makes his circles slightly different for abduction and dump sites.
What does she know about him? He worked as a delivery service man for a Chinese restaurant. She puts an 'x' over the Chinese place. Then she thinks back to the newspaper she found in the library.
"I need a printer" JJ wordlessly points to the one right outside the office. Danny gets out her phone, connecting wirelessly to the printer and prints off the picture she took of the newspaper, and the one she took of the white board. 'Steve Casino' is suspect number one at the moment. She tacks the pictures to the board and the team files around them while Danny adds another 'X' over the mark of the pizza place he worked at before.
Logically he would want to blend in with the neighborhood. He must have been within distance of the delivery places considering they were close together. She makes a final circle. In this area is where he lives. "Done." Danny mutters and walks away from the map going back to the board.
Her mind is on overdrive, trying to solve this as fast as she can so both her and Spencer are safe, but the team won't leave her alone. All the have are questions, and Danny knows she is going to have to answer them so then they can work together. She just needed to prove herself first. She turns around to face the BAU members.
"Okay shoot," she monotones out.
"Where did you get these," they point at the picture.
"The library," she points at the newspaper, and "the university, Mr. Charles classroom."
"How do you know it's this man?" Hotch asks.
Danny sighs she knows she going to have to talk about it sooner than later. "I don't necessarily," and she goes on to explain her attack, her staying with Spencer, her trashed apartment, her staying with Spencer again.
"Wait you live with Spence?" JJ furrows her eyebrows.
Danny looses her confidence for a second. Spence always talks highly of JJ, the woman intimidates her. "Just temporarily."
"So you figured out the geographical profile? Reid wasn't even done with it," Prentiss leans over to look.
"Well you guys were looking at this case as something different to my attack. But they are one person. I added in my old apartment and his previous work."
"Smart, kid," Rossi praises the girl.
Her face burns a little scarlet. "Thanks."
She glances back to the board when she sees an evidence bag placed on the table to the left. "What's this?" She asks no one in particular. The Spanish words bring a shiver down her spine. She knows he's talking about her.
"Left with the bodies," Prentiss says
Danny walks over to the board and sighs at the sight of the two young girls. It's tragic that they died. They look so much like Danny. If she got her hands on this man...
The guilt is eating her up.
Wait. She glances at the time of death stating that they were killed at 4pm today. Spencer was called in on the case at around five and she got the phone call at 5:30. That is not enough time for the killer to commit a murder, clean up, stage the victims, shoot Spencer, drive all the way to the university and set up.
She states her thinking to the group.
"You are right, somethings not adding up," JJ mutters.
Danny walks over and pins the evidence bag by the picture she took of the white board. The one that has Spencer on the ground in pain. She tries not to think about it, instead she focuses on the words.
"Two different hand writings," she says out loud.
"Two different UNSUBS," Morgan nods.
"And this one is female," Rossi points to the words 'Blacksburg, VA'.

A King in the Clouds
Tanlar. A cruel, repulsive, and foul word. It meant untitled, officially, but it also meant ungifted, unable, unworthy, unnecessary, unhuman. It was more a curse than a term, a badge only the damned and condemned wore. To be a tanlar was to know your life, your entire being, was insignificant. Once Kaizer had resigned himself to such a fate, but those times had passed. He may have been untitled, but he was anything but untalented. He refused to scrape by at the bottom of society. Those who stood above him could sneer all they liked, but he wouldn’t suffer being stepped on for long. He’d be better, much better. But of course he would be. ‘Fate’ demanded it so. [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] What To Expect: The story of a boy becoming a man becoming a king + everything that entails. Largely gamelit, but later arcs could be called litrpg. Also schemes. A lot of schemes. I do love some good ol' fantasy politics and intrigue. Minimum Word Count a Week: TBA after Writathon Release Time(s): Daily for as long as I can/until the end of the Writathon. I also write The Deathseeker [Returning Dec 5th]
