Matty sat still in her bed. Maybe she was simping. But in all honesty, she didn't care.

She simps for everyone so liking this new guy wasn't weird at all... right?

She was in the middle of responding to some people on twitter to pass time when Charlie came into her room, looking bothered by something.

He was at the doorway, fiddling with his black and white knitted sweater, a frown on his face. It made her worry.

"What's up?" Matty spoke up, putting her phone down after liking and commenting on a couple of fan arts she was tagged at.

"I only have two days left and I don't know how to feel." He said childishly before walking towards her bed and tackling her into a hug. He buried his face onto her stomach and sighed.

"Aw you poor baby." Matty coo'ed, her hand running through his messy brown hair. A small grin casting itself on her lips. "I'm gonna be fine here, Charlie. I swear."

Charlie sighed again before sitting up, staring at her seriously. "I don't know, Matty. What if... what if that same fucking person says something and it'll mess with you again? I don't want that!"

"I don't want that too. I just have to live with it. I signed up for this anyway." Matty said, slightly rolling her eyes as the topic was brought up once again. She thought he'd let it go for once as he only had a couple of days left with her. But maybe it was time to address it now.

Charlie hadn't been in their friendship group for long that's why he was so protective when he found out and saw how she was treated by her then ex-boyfriend. When he showed up during the time their group had eaten dinner at the local restaurant. When he had dragged Matty out by the hair, spitting harsh words towards her. When he saw how he treated her, he was furious. That day, Charlie's mind went blank and all he saw was red.

He wasn't sure how he got out there alive. Her ex was stronger than he was. And was taller than he was.

Charlie scoffed in disbelief. "See? That's where you're wrong. You don't have to live with it. It's not for everyone to fucking know, Matty.. And you're just letting that person expose you like that. Expose the shit that happened to you in high school. With that fucking douchebag. You think it's fine that everyone fucking knows the one thing, that one fucking thing that's.. that's—"

He stopped. He noticed how quiet she became. Fuck, you really don't know when to stop huh, Charlie? He thought.

Matty was silent the whole time. Her mind flashing back to the words she feared to see whenever she goes live.

His name. His god-awful name that popped up every once in a while.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."

"You're right. I shouldn't live with it but I'm scared, Charlie! I'm scared they'll see me different, that they'll treat me different. I just..." Matty choked before covering her face with her hands. Hot, burning tears spilling from her eyes. "I'm just so scared... It's my fault anyways! I didn't follow him. I wasn't what he wanted. I made him do it—"

"No! Don't ever fucking say that, Mat." Charlie had cut her off. "None of it was your fault. He's the one at fault here ok? Not you!"

"But he told me he loved me." She cried, her whole body shaking from all the emotions she was feeling.

Charlie held her face in his warm hands, looking at her straight in the eyes. He was crying also, scared and angry at himself for making his best friend talk about something he knew would trigger her.

That's one of the other flaws Charlie has... Once his emotions and thoughts reach its limit, he would just talk and talk, blinded by wanting to get an answer that he forgets that other people can get offended, that other people have emotions.

"Matty. Loving someone isn't only pain. It's not whatever you went through. That's not love, Matty. That was very far from it. He ruined you and I will never forgive him for that."

Matty sobbed even more. As much as she tried to heal from it, to heal from the abusive past she had, there was still a part of her that can't get past it. Her friends and family were there. They helped her. But she can never fully heal until she accepts it herself.
