《Growing Old》Final

"Kacchan, you okay?" Izuku asked.
Bakugo grabbed onto Izuku's arm to help hoist himself up, "It didn't stop you so it ain't stopping me."
The sound of ice cracking sounded beyond the smoke. They could hear Mina's hollering, but it turned into a high pitched cry. The two scurried through the smoke, finding Todoroki creating ice constantly, only to have it deteriorate quickly. Their eyes glanced to the fallen former hero, clutching his left eye that seemed to be seeping blood.
Kaminari held his fingers out in the shape of a gun, allowing electricity to shoot out of the tips and surge to Shigaraki. The villain, was blasted by a couple in the shoulders, not seeming that effected. He reached out to grab at the hero, only to get his hand burned by a wall of fire.
Uraraka was tending to Aizawa, being joined by Bakugo, "Oi, let me see."
The former teacher moved his hand and the hero reeled back. A large gash sat where his eye was and at this rate, he will be blind in that orb.
"We shouldn't have called you to help." Uraraka choked on a sob.
Aizawa smiled, "It's alright. I'd do anything to help."
"You think you can cancel his quirk again?!" Kaminari yelled over the fight between Todoroki, Izuku, Mina, and Shigaraki.
Aizawa went to do just that, only to cry out at the pain that strained through his eye. He shook his head in sorrow and the three heroes glanced to the fight. Mina was down, a broken tendril stuck in her leg. Todoroki was delaying Shigaraki's movements with ice, helping Izuku get the literal upper hand from the sky.
"Duck!" Todoroki yelled, falling to the ground as air gusted all around them.
Aizawa clutched to Uraraka's arms and Bakugo stood up to see Izuku and Shigaraki all up in each other's face, snarling like wolves. The geteenette had a grasp on the villain's wrist, disabling his arm movements.

A tendril from Shigaraki's fingers stabbed through Izuku's shoulders again, right where the wound already was. Todoroki pounced, freezing the sharp quirk and breaking it. Everyone stumbled back as Kaminari and Bakugo ran in.
"No!" Shigaraki yelled, sending a burst of wind at the two, who went flying many yards away. "I'm going to destroy everything, starting with you!"
He reeled towards Todoroki, surprisingly, and caught him by surprise. The hero was latched onto, his skin decaying beneath Shigaraki's fingers.
"Shigaraki!" Izuku screeched, causing the villain to let go of the hero and face the other.
The air was tense and silent. Izuku had a plan, and everyone was instantly catching onto it by his body expressions.
Izuku stepped dangerously close, "You wanted to take me down, right? By yourself, right? Kill the number one hero, ri-"
"Right."
Just as Shigaraki pounced, he was shot with millions of watts of electricity. To add on to it, Bakugo created a large explosion that resonated through the air with noise and wind. Though, the villain came out with a large arm, one more muscular than it should be.
Kaminari grunted as he shot electricity, only to get smacked far away from the fight. Todoroki was down, Mina was unconscious, Uraraka was protecting Aizawa, which left the lovers facing the villain.
Izuku's air force gloves pulsed, expanding on his wrists, "We need to take him out, now. Try not to kill him, but detain him."
"I don't think detaining will do any good." Bakugo growled.
"We're not killing him!" Izuku shouted.
"If we can't detain him, what else do we do?!"
"Knock him out, for God's sake!"
The two went on a full argument, unknowing of the area around him. The next thing they knew, Izuku was bleeding. Badly. He was stabbed in the arm, foot, and side, seemingly very close to some organs. He shakily looked up at Bakugo, who stumbled back.

"Deku!" Uraraka cried out, just dodging a tendril with Aizawa in her arms.
"Stay-" Izuku coughed, blood dripping from his mouth. "Stay over t-there!"
"Shouldn't have been arguing." Shigaraki sneered, allowing the tendrils to shrink back into his fingers, which made the hero collapse.
"I'll definitely be killing you now, bastard!" Bakugo yelled, launching himself forward.
He dodged dark lines, ones that decayed the floor. Shigaraki charged forward, ready to fight.
"Fuck, this is going to hurt like a bitch." Bakugo whispered to himself as he took both pins off his gauntlets and ignited his own quirk. "Brace yourselves."
As Bakugo reached the villain, he jumped up, barreling down towards him. Just in time, both gauntlets exploded and he created an even larger explosion as he added on his quirk. A cloud of smoke, ash, and dirt mushroomed into the sky, sending tremors all over within a 100 mile radius.
The blonde was on the floor, now beaten, bruised, and bloodied by his own creation. All he heard was ringing and he glanced over at Uraraka, who seemed to be talking into her earpiece. He looked to Todoroki, Mina, and Shigaraki, all now unconscious and he couldn't see Kaminari anywhere. His gaze fell upon Izuku, who was dragging himself to him.
He reached out, grabbing the greenette's hand. Izuku fell forward, next to Bakugo. He said something, but the blonde couldn't hear it, so all he did was wrap an arm around him. His vision became hazy as he looked up at the sky, and he finally allowed himself to rest.

A Prose of Years
For decades, spiritualist Evert Kallstrom and his team have joined in humanity’s millennia-long fight against the beasts. Wielding their weapons and their ki, they fought and killed these great threats to civilization. And yet, despite their efforts, humanity was losing traction in the war. In the last fifty years alone, more cities had been overrun than in all of known history. While most thought the great beasts natural, a few knew the terrible truth. They were the product of a dark lord, who desired neither fame nor wealth nor power. Instead, his sole purpose was the genocide of humanity. While their peers dithered, a small faction of the strongest mankind had to offer—including Evert Kallstrom and his team—set out towards the Deadlands to find and confront this dark lord. After weeks of travel, twenty-one spiritualists found themselves approaching an ancient fortress wherein rested a being known only as the Eastern Guardian. All they found was death. But death has other plans for Evert. Evert bolts awake in his 16 year old body near his hometown, decades in the past. He is confused, poor and weak. But with grit, sweat, and years of experience, he won't let the future repeat itself. That level of strength won't be enough by itself (it wasn’t last time) and victory is hardly assured (he’ll need to reach farther and higher than he ever did), but Evert refuses to squander a second chance. [Other tags: First Person POV, Hard Magic, Faulty Memory] Volume 1 is complete and has been fully released. My current intention is not to write any sequel volumes. That said, I have also released appendices (SPOILERS) that cover the worldbuilding and future story-that-never-was. Comments suggesting fixes for grammar, misspellings, etc. appreciated. Note: If you came here from Candlelit Lives, these stories have nothing in common.
