"God damnit, how could you let this happen?" Don snorted a line of coke on the table and pushed a chair out of his way.
Stevie was scared. He was acting erratically. She'd never been sober enough to really see how he treated her, and she felt so alone. It had been a while since she'd last gotten high or had a drink. She had someone else to think of, but at this moment, all she wanted to do was push Don out of the way and finally meet the sweet release of a high. It took everything in her power not to do it.
"Jesus, Don, you're scaring me! It takes two to tango, alright? This isn't all my fault!"
"Aren't you on the pill? I thought that was supposed to stop things like this from happening!"
"I guess it's not 100% effective," Stevie shamefully looked around the half finished room. Don was building a house and she couldn't help but imagine tiny feet running up and down the halls. "Listen, can't we just talk," Stevie rested her hand on his to try to calm him down, but it was to no avail.
"No, take this, and don't bother me again." Don threw a couple of hundreds at her. "Take care of anything, and I don't wanna hear another word about this."
Tears started steaming down her face and she was brought back into reality with a swift brush of Lindsey's thumb stroking the tears away.
"Baby, please don't cry. You did what you had to do. I don't love you any less for it." Lindsey looked at her still holding onto her delicate face.
Stevie felt a little bit better after hearing Lindsey's words. She never got over the guilt she felt, and she was worried karma would come after her now. Stevie thought back to when she was pregnant, right before she and Lindsey joined Fleetwood Mac.

Lindsey and Stevie were overwhelmed with joy at their unexpected surprise. It was just before Thanksgiving, and Stevie couldn't wait to tell her parents along with the Buckinghams. Earlier that day, Lindsey took Stevie to the jewelry store to pick out an engagement ring, or at least something that he could afford. Their Buckingham Nicks money was starting to run out, which made Stevie nervous, knowing that there would be a third member to take care of soon.
"How about this one?" Stevie looked at Lindsey enthusiastically, hoping he would say yes. This ring was beautiful with a perfect small diamond sitting in the middle of it.
"Alright, let me see the price tag." Lindsey groaned when he flipped the tag over knowing that he couldn't afford it.
"What about these?" Lindsey gestured over to a section with gold bands.
"These are, nice, I suppose." Stevie stared at the gold rings, a little disappointed.
"Come on, why don't you try one on?" Lindsey motioned to the sales woman working behind the desk and she opened the case. Lindsey slipped the band over Stevie's finger and Stevie lit up with joy.
"This is it. This is perfect, Linds."
Lindsey looked to the saleswoman. "Well, I guess we'll take this one!"
The pair walked out of the store, Stevie beaming with happiness wearing the new ring Lindsey bought for her. She couldn't believe that in just 7 months, she would be having Lindsey's baby. She was over the moon.
That night, Stevie woke up to what felt like a cramp in her stomach. She looked down and she realized she was laying in a pool of blood.
"Lindsey!" She shook Lindsey to wake him. He grunted. "Lindsey, I'm bleeding." Lindsey shot up and carried her in her arms to the car. He drove as fast as he could to the hospital. The car ride was silent as Lindsey held Stevie's hand the whole way. Stevie cried, and through he tears she whispered, "I'm sorry" to Lindsey.

"Stephanie, I'm sorry but you've lost the baby," a doctor solemnly told the couple. Stevie couldn't do anything but drop her head into her hands and sob. Lindsey's heart was so broken and a single tear ran down his face.
On the way home from the hospital, Stevie couldn't stop crying. "I'm so sorry, Lindsey. I couldn't do the one thing a woman is supposed to do for you."
Lindsey pulled over to the side of the road.
"You listen to me. Stop apologizing, there was nothing you could have done. You did everything right, ok? I still love you, no matter what. Our time will come. Please don't be ashamed, this isn't your fault."
"We've gone through this same exact thing before, and we both know how that ended up. What if this time won't be any different? We're just getting our hopes up." Stevie tried to walk away, but Lindsey grabbed her elbow to stop her.
"No, don't talk like that. Everything's going to be fine, I promise. Do I break my promises?" Lindsey wiped away Stevie's tears as he felt a lump begin to grow in his own throat.
"Whatdya say you and me have some breakfast now? I'll make omelettes and we can drink orange juice, I know it's your favorite!" Stevie looked back up to Lindsey puffy eyed and a shy smile started to appear.
"Don't you step foot in my kitchen, Buckingham!"

Tales of Ordinary, Completely Unremarkable Contractors
"Where life had no value, death, sometimes, had its price. That is why the mercenaries appeared." - Artur Xerxes, in A Century of Disappointment: Memoirs of a Travelling Dwarf It's never too difficult to land contracts for a set very specialised skills in a continent teeming with werewolves, vampires, giant leopards, undead and, god forbid, elves. The difficulty comes when these contractors find themselves suffocated in the dense atmosphere of this world's rigid - and mostly unfair - rules; death, suffering and misfortune await those unwilling to sacrifice to bend these in their favour. In this non-linear plot, you will observe a scarred and deformed farm girl cashing her first bounty posters, a seemingly ordinary barmaid at a tavern in the bustling centre of a sprawling, corrupt city and an enigmatic leader of a firm specialising in dealings any other would consider suicidal. Watch them all take everything to the next level at every available opportunity, and then feel dread at the thought that this still might not be enough to halt the physical embodiment of doom about to do what it does best Please, feel free to review and comment! Any sort of feedback can help me become a better writer and write more engaging stories for you. I used to update once every 3-5 days, but this rewrite is taking much too long...I do hope it will be worth it.
