It's hot and humid. Whoever decided, Sara and Stevie, that an outdoor wedding in the middle of the summer in Los Angeles would be a good idea needs to get their heads checked out.
At ten o'clock, Sara Rhiannon Buckingham became Sara Rhiannon Jackson. My oldest is 28, a doctor and she is now, married to hopefully the love of her life.
It's going on two now and the backyard reception is in full swing.
"Lindsey, I think I am going to be sick," Stevie says as I untie my tie. This monkey suit is making me overheat.
"You're not pregnant are you?" I joke
"NO! That ship sailed about two years ago. I'm freaking out about the performance. Why are we the entertainment anyways?" She's yanking on her expertly styled updo.
"Angel, look at me. You've sung Sara a million times. You've sung all of these songs a million times. You have your teleprompter, you'll be fine." I say taking the jacket off and rolling my dress shirt sleeves up.
"I know, but it's Sara's wedding. I don't want to mess up and why are we even singing we should be mingling with the guests." Stevie babbles.
"Baby, Sara asked us to. You'll be fine." I say grabbing her face and kissing her.
"Are you sure?" Stevie questions.
"I am," I say tugging her hair of its clippings.
"Lindsey, what the FUCK!" She yells
"We're going out as Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks and Stephanie Buckingham are two different people. That updo, as sexy as it was, is so not Stevie Nicks." I explain fluffing her hair out.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Sara requested a live band and a live band was delivered. To start off I need the bride and groom center of the dance floor. For their first dance without further ado, please welcome Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks." The best man, Luke, Nick's best friend call out.

We go onstage and when Stevie reaches her mic, I can tell she's holding back tears. And her hands have to be shaking because I've never seen her play with her dangly things that much before.
"Sara, I wrote this song for you, about 25 years ago when I was expecting your brother Mason. I was worried that you would think we loved him more than you." Stevie pauses.
"Damn right you did," Mason calls out as everyone laughs.
"Today you married a great man and this song is taking on another meaning. From your father and me for your first dance as a married couple, Sara, Nick, this is Sara." She smiles as we start playing.
We sing Sara and several other songs before Stevie speaks again.
"Alright, so Lindsey is going to sing but this song needs all of the married couples on the floor. Yes mom and dad, you too. This song is for all of the couples tonight and Lindsey and I would be out there if we could." Stevie looks to me.
"Now Steph, I don't dance. You'd have to drag me. I wrote this song about 21 years ago and we're performing it tonight as a testament for the new married couple. A testament to making sure they always remember that there's light at the end of the tunnel and to always work there shit out. If Stevie and I can do it so can you. We love you both." I say going to Big Love.
Stevie is singing harmony on it for once, It's rare that we do that. The last time was on Letterman when she was pregnant with Emmy. We had been promoting The Dance at the time and Sara has expressed her love for this version countless times.

We sang twelve songs overall, half of our normal setlist, and then we let a DJ take over. Stevie and I were then cornered at the food table.
"Lindsey, you play that guitar like it's an extra limb." Nick's dad, Ray says.
"And Stevie your voice is amazing." Diane, his mother chimes in.
"Well thank you," Stevie says.
"Yes Thank You!" I smile.
"You know, I used to play guitar in High School," Ray says putting his hand on my shoulder and pulling me away from Stevie.
As the evening was wrapping up and the cleaning crew was there, Ray, Diane, Stevie and myself were taking Sara and Nick to the Fleetwood Mac Private plane. Their honeymoon was going to be in Paris.
"Aren't you guys lucky your honeymoon is going to be in Paris. Ours was in Aspen. Hardly the city of love." Diane coos.
"Lindsey, Stevie where did you guys honeymoon?" Nick asks.
"Well, our wedding night was spent in Stevie's childhood bedroom. We got married in my In-Law's backyard and we didnt' have a honeymoon." I shrug.
"Why not?" Diane asks.
"We couldn't afford it. I was working two jobs and Lindsey was painting houses. We were so poor we didn't even have to file an income tax form until Sara was one. Lindsey didn't even get a wedding band until about eight years ago now." Stevie explains.
"Wow, looking at you know I would've never have guessed you were that hard off." Ray sighs.
"I know, we used to live in a three-room apartment. Sara had just turned two when we moved into our house." Stevie states.
"Mom, dad you should go on a honeymoon. It's like 30 years overdue. Nick and I will watch Emmeline." Sara coos.
"Yeah, and when'll that be. Your father and I are super busy. Not to mention Buckingham Records is starting to look through artists. I don't think it'll work." Stevie shakes her head.
"Steph, maybe we should." I look at her.
"Really?" She asks.
"Of course. Maybe next summer. Your parents can watch Emmy. We shouldn't have anything going on." I smile.
"I have always wanted to spend a summer in Italy." She bites her thumb.
"Great." I chuckle.
