Stevie and Emmeline are in Florida. Stevie is doing a three-day gig with Tom Petty. Emmeline is seven and she's on spring break so Stevie quickly agreed to do this and bring her along.
I am home alone working on a solo record, Fleetwood Mac has agreed to only go on tours. We're passed the Album making stage at this point. But another band is at the forefront of my mind. Josh put a band together and they're doing some festival somewhere. I'm eating chips, and drinking a beer when the doorbell rings. I groan but open it anyway. Nick is standing there white as a sheet.
"Nick, is something wrong with Sara?" I ask already reaching for my car keys.
"No, Can we go sit and talk?" Nick points into the house.
"Of course," I say leading him into the house.
"Lindsey, Sara and I have been dating for a while and I um...I wanted to ask for your blessing. I want to marry your daughter." Nick says shakily.
"Have you talked to Stevie?" I ask.
"No, her and her assistant scare me and she hasn't been taking phone calls." Nick chuckles.
"Well, you have my blessing and let me be the first one to say welcome to the family son." I chuckle shaking his hand.
"Thank you so much," Nick says going to leave.
***
About five hours later, I'm cracking open a pizza and Sara comes running into the kitchen.
"Woah, what's up sweetgirl?" I chuckle, knowing exactly what's up.
All she does is hold up her hand where a silver band with a square diamond sits on it.
"Daddy, I am so excited." Sara squeals wrapping her arms around me as Nick takes a slice of pizza.
"Have you told your mother?" I ask.
"No, she's performing right now." Sara shakes her head.
"Well, I have two pizzas...Mason and I aren't going to eat it all. So, join us for dinner and we'll call later tonight." I say.

"Okay." Sara laughs as Nick already has Pizza piled up on his plate.
"Mason, come on and eat," I yell out.
***
It's eight when we call, eleven in Florida. I just hope Stevie answers. It takes a while, but she does answer and I breathe a sigh of relief.
"Momma, I have something to tell you." Sara smiles laying her head on my shoulder.
Stevie says something that causes Sara to Laugh and then she continues the conversation. "No, nothing like that. Nick proposed. He asked for Daddy's blessing and everything." Sara gushes.
They exchange some more words and Sara hands me the phone.
"Hello, Angel." I answer.
"Why didnt' you call as soon as he asked for her hand?" Stevie squawks.
"Because at the time you weren't screening calls. Nick even tried to call you baby." I chuckle.
"Oh...I'm so excited.'" Stevie cheers.
***
Not twenty minutes after Stevie and Emmeline were home from Florida, Josh was clambering into the house.
"We have a record deal." Josh cheers.
Stevie stops dead in her tracks and turns towards our son. "What do you mean you've got a record deal?" Stevie questions.
"Buckingham, we were playing in San Francisco and after our set, some guy grom RCA approached us and wants to record us." Josh cheers.
"Joshua, you need to be sure that this is really what you want to do. Have you thought about what happens if you don't sell?" I ask crossing my arms.
"I've already talked to Nick and I'll have a job with him...But, dad, you're a record producer. We have you to fall back on." Joshua sighs.
"Yes, I am a producer but I don't own a record label. If I did when Fleetwood Mac made Say You, Will, we wouldn't have ditched doing a double record." I express.
"But you've been in talks with Warner about starting your own." Joshua defends and I wince. Stevie did not know about that.

"You are?" She looks at me.
"Thanks, Josh. She didn't know about that, but just because I'm in talks doesn't mean it's going to happen." I state.
"Were you going to tell me?" Stevie glares her hands falling to her hips.
"Eventually, I was going to give you a chance to rest after this tour," I explain.
"Lindsey, a record label is a big deal. Are you going to run it out of the house?" Stevie's eyes still burn into me.
"No, I'm looking at building out in San Francisco. My dad's old coffee plant to be exact. Jeff is in the process of selling it. IF I can get the partnership with Warner Jeff is willing to give it to me free of charge. We'd have to do some extensive maintenance on it though." I explain.
"How much is extensive?" Stevie moves her hands from her hips to her head.
"About 150,000 dollars worth." I rub the back of my neck.
"150,000. Lindsey, we are paying for water, heat and cooling, cable, and telephone for three houses. We pay 25,000 a year for the condo. We are about to pay for a wedding. Which I WILL be sparing no expense because Sara deserves the whole world and not to mention we're paying 10,000 dollars for Emmeline to swim competitively and not to mention 1,000 for dance lessons. Lindsey, all that together is roughly 500,000 dollars. We have a college fund going for Emmeline and we had one for Joshua." Stevie explains.
"Steph, we are multi-millionaires. You never worry about the bills. Why are you starting now?" I ask
"Lindsey, Trouble in Shangri-la didn't do well. Neither did Say You, Will. And NONE of your albums have EVER done that well. I just don't want us getting in over our heads is all." Stevie states. The last part sabbing me in the heart.
"Thanks for believing in me Stevie, really appreciate it," I say walking towards my studio.
"Lindsey, that's not..." She starts.
"Save it. I won't do it." I shake my head and start down the stairs. As I'm shutting the door, she calls my name, but I ignore it.
***
I lose track of how long I'm in my bunker, listening to Buckingham Nicks on the record player. I'm in my own little world until Emmeline is crawling into my lap.
"Hi, Dove, what's up?" I asked wrapping my arms around her. No matter what I'm feeling, it all goes away when I hold her in my arms. Our little Miracle baby.
"Momma says dinner is ready. But Daddy, what's a record label?" She asks. Her mother's eyes staring into mine.
"Well, you know how momma and daddy put out CDs?" I ask.
"Yeah! You make pretty music." She smiles.
"Thank You. Well, a record label allows us to put out the beautiful music." I smile back.
"Oh, well Let's go I'm hungry." She states crawling off my lap her little hand taking mine.
I chuckle and grab her when she makes it half-way to the stairs. I sit her over my shoulders and we go upstairs. I put Emmeline in her seat and Stevie grabs my belt loops pulling me into the bathroom.
"Lindsey...I want you to do whatever makes you happy. I will support you in everything you do. And baby, I didn't mean what I said about your albums. I love all of them so much and I love you so much." She says wrapping her arms around me.
"Do you mean that?" I ask.
"Of Course. I just got back and I had this big plan for tonight if you still love me enough." She smirks.
"Miss Nicks...are you insinuating what I think you are?" I ask.
"Mrs. Buckingham is insinuating exactly that." She smiles kissing me.
"Hot Damn."

Silhouette
WARNING: THIS STORY HAS A SLOW START. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. We all grew up hearing stories about heroes and villains, but what would we do if we were to be part of one? One night, a bioweapon escaped from its laboratory in Zalcien, only to die in a dark alley. One night, a young man lent a helping hand, only to die alone in the dark. One night, a deity of death saw two lost souls and offered one a second chance in the other's body. Now a strange creature made of darkness, James has to deal with his new form in a strange new world where superpowers, heroes and villains are commonplace, far away from his home. Watch as he learns how to use his powers, as he meets allies and enemies and how, when facing the paths of heroism and villainy, he chooses a third way somewhere in between. Follow the story of James, a lost Earthling soul, as he becomes Silhouette, the mysterious power in the shadows. Greetings fellow humans. This is my first story on Royal Road and my first long-term project written in English, so I do hope you will have some mercy in your heart when reading. So, as you may have understood, this is a story with super-heroes - which is quite ironic for my first story considering all of the other ones planned are fantasy - and as such will take place in a modern-like setting. Despite dark themes and gory scenes making their way into the story, it is still a super-hero world with the logic that matches, so expect characters to survive nuclear explosions without a scratch and yet to get defeated by a rubber ducky - as well as similar dark humor, thus the comedy part.
