《Timeless》49

Sitting at dinner, Lindsey is staring me down. It's a Friday and our kids are off doing various things. Sara is off to a party with Samantha, fifteen-year-old Mason is at the movies with a group of friends. And Joshua my sweet ten year old is at a swim team sleepover. And since the kids were gone, I had to bring a sensitive topic up.

"You are not going to New York to record another album, Especially this far into your pregnancy." Lindsey hisses.

"I'd record it here. I can't fly anyway." I say.

"Who's producing it?" Lindsey asks the dreaded golden question.

"Well, Michael Campbell, Sheryl Crow, and John Shanks," I say looking down.

"Fine, you're pregnancy is too risky for me to argue with you. Now I will not be involved and I want nothing to do with it." Lindsey squawks.

"Fine by me," I state rubbing my rib where the baby kicked.

"When do you start?" Lindsey sighs out.

"Monday," I say

"Monday, Jesus Steph. Way to give me notice." He shouts.

'I could've not told you and had them all just show up on Monday." I shrug.

"I don't even know why you're doing another album. You said you wanted to raise this baby differently." Lindsey looks at me.

"I have a contract to fulfill. This album has been in the works since before the Fleetwood Mac tour. My label is tired of waiting." I explain.

"I'm going to go clean the studio." Lindsey sighs getting up and walking away.

I clean the dishes and put the leftovers away. While I'm sitting in the Living Room with the TV playing for background noise, I twirl the three diamond ring on my left hand. The gold original wedding band sitting on my right hand. Our wedding picture staring daggers at me from the mantle. I'm taking out of my thoughts when I catch my belly rippling.

"Alright Dove, I guess I'll go fold your clothes again. I am pretty bored." I rub my belly.

We went neutral with Doves room like we did for all of the Nurseries except for poor Sara who didn't get a proper nursery until she was almost two. Each child now has their own special thing, Sara's walls are a light grey with mint green accents, Mason's is green, and Josh's room is red. But Dove's is nice and tranquil with dark grey walls and white furniture. There are little moon decals spread out and an owl stuffed animal sitting in the crib. We don't have much for baby clothes. Some yellow onesies, grey ones, and white ones not to mention the trunk up in the attic of hand me down baby clothes from the first three. We've decided that when we bring them home they'll be wearing a white Onesie with little grey stars and moons all over it. After they're born they're going to get gender specific clothing. I was rudely woken up by Lindsey lightly shaking me.

"What?" I ask.

"Angel, you fell asleep in the rocking chair." Lindsey chuckles, because I've been known to do that throughout pregnancy and early motherhood.

"Four children and it's still as comfy as ever." I smile

"I'm surprised it still is standing. Only needed a new coat of paint. Come on, and let's get you into an actual bed." He smiles helping me.

As we're laying in bed, I lay my head on his chest and look up at him.

"Are you mad at me?" I ask.

"I would be a lot angrier if you had gone to New York. But no, I know you have responsibilities. I'm just hurt that after all these years you don't want me to produce your album. I am also upset that you didn't give me any further notice, but I'm okay." He says kissing my head.
