《Timeless》45

"I'm up way too early for this. Besides, it's Lindsey's Birthday. I should be home making him Breakfast." I pout crossing my arms.
"Hey, you told me to schedule your yearly exam this was the day your OB/GYN had available. However, you start tour promo at noon so this was our only option." Karen tells me.
"Stephanie Buckingham." The nurse calls out.
I groan and begrudgingly follow her. After I've been examined, I am waiting in the cold paper gown anticipating my release.
"Stephanie, I'd like to run some more tests." The doctor comes in.
"Why, is something wrong?" I ask worry filling my stomach.
"I'm not sure. Your uterus and Cervix look and feel abnormal. I know you have a history of Ovarian Cysts so I want to run some tests to make sure that a) you don't have a cyst that's cancerous because they can affect your cervix and uterus or b) it's something else." The doctor says.
"How long will these tests take? I have to be somewhere at noon." I say.
"Well, half an hour to forty-five minutes. Basically, we're just going to draw blood and take it to the lab. We'll look at your bloodwork and your smear samples and if they show a cancerous abnormality then we'll have to schedule a biopsy. It's a surgical procedure so you'll be put under local anesthetic and you would have to have someone else with you." He says.
"Okay, the sooner we know the better." I sigh peering up at the clock.
"Before we draw blood, I would like to ask you some questions. When was the last time you had intercourse?"
"Um, September like the first week. I don't remember the exact date." I sigh.
"When was your last Ovarian Cyst?"
"Maybe two years ago now."
"Any medications?"
"Just a vitamin every morning."
"Alright, A nurse will be in to draw blood." He smiles walking out.
***
Waiting is the scariest part and I let out a sigh of relief when the doctor comes in a smile on his face.
"Stephanie, congratulations you're pregnant." He announces.
"What?" I gasp.
"About five weeks, so you were right when you said the beginning of September. Where you're at right now is putting your due date around May thirtieth. I know you're running short on time so we'll talk about it at your next check-up. I know you're touring but I want to see you at least every three weeks. Because of your age, and your history, I just want to keep an eye on you. When is the next available time for you?" The doctor asks.
"Halloween," I answer smiling.
"Alright, we'll schedule our appointment for then. Do you want to lay back so we can do an internal ultrasound? You won't be able to hear the heartbeat but you can see it. Then I'll give you a b-12 shot give you your prescription and I'll send you on your way." The doctor smiles.
"Okay," I say doing as I'm told.
"So that little sack of cells is your baby." He points.
"Oh so small," I say
"Very, would you like a picture?" He asks.
"Three please," I say.
When I finally emerge Karen is tapping her foot.
"Two hours. When I go to the gynecologist I'm only in their for forty-five minutes." Karen squawks.
"They had to run some additional tests," I explain
"Are you okay?" She asks.
"Perfect. After you drop me off, I need you to go to get this prescription filled for me.

"You're pregnant?"
"Yeah, five weeks. Just a little sack of cells but it's there. I haven't had any symptoms yet." I explain.
"When do you think you will?" She questions.
"In the next few weeks. It was around eight weeks with the other three." I tell her.
"Alright, good to know," Karen says.
I'm late when I get to work and they quickly usher me to make-up. But my thoughts are consumed by the baby I'm carrying. I'm placed next to Christine and they snap multiple pictures but I'm blank casting my gaze slightly to Lindsey. After the photo shoot, I wish Lindsey a quick happy birthday and kiss him. Then the interview starts and I try my hardest to not touch my stomach. During the interview, it's almost like Lindsey senses something In me because he keeps kissing my head and touching me. As we're packing up to go home the band confronts me.
"Quite late Mrs. Buckingham," Mick says.
"I had a doctor's appointment," I explain.
"I don't' believe you." Mick teases.
"I got a shot and my blood drawn," I say rolling my sleeve up to show the gauze on my arm.
"We can't have you getting sick on us now," Christine says.
"I'll be fine. Anyway, I want to go home and nap before the minions get home from various activities.
"Various activities?" Mick asks.
"Yes, Sara's last class got out at two, she picked the boys up and took one to swimming and one to soccer. I'll have an hour to nap before we go out to dinner for Lindsey's birthday." I explain wrapping my arms around him.
"Well, we'll let you go then. See you tomorrow one more week and we hit the stage." Micks says hugging everyone.
As we pull up to the house Karen's car is not in the driveway but a bag is sitting in the entryway. I quickly examine it and go to the medicine cabinet.
"How come you're so tired all of a sudden?" Lindsey asks as I close the cupboard.
"I don't know. I just am." I smirk kissing him and going to bed.
***
After dinner, I'm sitting in the living room glasses on my face writing.
"Angel, do you want some wine?" Lindsey asks.
"No," I say.
"You're turning down red wine on a special occasion." He asks.
"Special Occasion my ass, you turned forty-seven. Hardly a special occasion. Anyway, come here I went to the doctor today."
"I know."
I smile and hand him the ultrasound picture.
"What the hell is this?" He asks.
"Well, that little black blob is a five-week-old fetus nestled all nice and cozy in my belly," I explain
"You're pregnant?" Lindsey asks.
"Yeah, I am." I smile
"Honey that's great. But we're touring." He gives me a concerned look.
"I know, we aren't telling anybody because of my age and it's still super early, we go back on Halloween at ten. If the doctor gives the all-clear we'll tell the kids. I'm going to wait until I'm showing to tell everyone else." I say.
"Will you be okay?" Lindsey asks.
"As long as I don't stress and relax every change I get we'll be okay, I've toured pregnant before. The only difference is that I'm not as far along as I was when we went on the Tango tour, and I'm a tad bit older." I assure him.
"We're going to have another baby." Lindsey cheers wrapping me in a hug.

I bolt out of bed and into the bathroom. As I'm throwing up, Lindsey comes in and grabs my hair.
"Morning sickness?" He asks.
I just hold a thumbs up and he chuckles rubbing my back. What seems like hours later, but a mere ten minutes. I sit back against Lindsey.
"The only horrible parts of pregnancy are this and labor." I groan sleepily.
"Jesus, it's only three-thirty. Lindsey groans looking at his watch.
"Morning sickness knows no time." I groan as we get off the bathroom floor and crawl back into bed.
Our alarms go off at six and then we start our day. Tour opens tonight at the Forum then we have a day in Sacramento, San Jose, and Oakland. Then we're off for Halloween before going countrywide. We film tonight and our families are all attending My brother, Lori, and Jessie, my mom and dad, Lindsey's mom who is being accompanied by god-awful Aunt Martha, who just turned seventy-nine. Jeff, Christi, their kids, and Meredith is driving up from San Francisco with Joey, Olivia, Stella, and Gregory Jr.
Downstairs, I'm brewing coffee and tea and the kiddos filter down into the kitchen.
"Morning momma. I'll just eat oatmeal, I have an eight a.m." Sara's first. She's not a morning person at all and this required course is kicking her around.
"Strawberries and Cream or Apple Cinnamon?" I ask I gave up on buying just plain oatmeal because I'm the only one that eats it.-
"Strawberry." She says pouring herself a travel mug full of coffee.
I plop it in the microwave and my three boys come down the stairs.
"What do you boys want for breakfast?" I ask.
"Bacon and Eggs." The youngest one calls.
"Toast with butter and Jam." Lindsey states.
"Grape or Strawberry?"
"Strawberry."
While the eggs and bacon are cooking the smell wafts up and I quickly turn to Lindsey.
"Linds...I have to use the restroom, can you watch the food?" I ask breathing slowly.
"Absolutely go." He says hurriedly.
As soon as I'm out of the kitchen I run to the hall bathroom and turn the vent on to cover my wretching. The oatmeal I was eating making another appearance. When I was finished I clean myself up and quickly go to my purse to pop a breath mint. Back in the kitchen, Sara is giving me weird looks.
"What?" I ask.
"Why didn't' you use this bathroom?" She points to the one right off of the kitchen.
"I like my own better. You'll understand when you own a home someday." I say breaking a piece off Lindsey's toast.
"So what's the plan?" Mason asks.
"I'm going to drop you off at school, Your mom is going to pack for us. Sara is picking you all up after school where you'll meet everyone for dinner then drive to the forum. Doors open at seven-thirty. You're meeting for food at four-thirty at Marcelli's. Reservations under Buckingham. Dress nicely. We'll see you after the show." Lindsey explains as I'm throwing the boys lunches together.
"Alright. I've gotta go. I love you, see you tonight." Sara says kissing us both on the cheek.
"I love you, baby," I say
We leave for soundcheck at noon, a car picking us up. We get McDonald's for lunch and arrive at the venue at around one. Soundcheck starts at two and dinner was served at five. I walk into the green room and immediately regret it. Salmon fills my nose and I have to run out. I've never thrown up this much during pregnancy. Lindsey comes looking for me very quickly.
"The Salmon?" He asks.
"Salmon." I nod
"Well, you need to eat something. Do you want me to make you a plate and bring it down to your dressing room?" Lindsey questions.
"Yes please," I say
"Alright. I love you, Angel. I'm sorry you're so sick. It's kind of my fault." He chuckles.
"Yes, it is." I smile patting his cheek and slowly getting up from the disgusting floor.
"If I could do it for you I would." He sighs.
"No, you wouldn't. It'd kill you. Food now." I say trudging to my dressing room where I quickly brush my teeth and wait for my husband with a plate.
"Angel." He knocks.
"Come in." I answer sitting down on my couch.
"I thought Salad would be safe." He smiles.
"It looks amazing baby thank you." I smile we eat silently with each other stealing slight glances when another knock comes to my door.
"Come in," I call
"How come you two are hiding in here?" Karen asks.
'Salmon smell made me throw up." I explain.
"Speaking of the baby. I had Margi make you three different dresses. I've done my research and it turns out, that the more pregnancies you have, the earlier you show. I know we're only touring until December and you'll only be about four months but I just wanted to be safe." Karen expresses.
"Karen knows?" Lindsey asks.
"Yes. She was with me. The only ones who know are the three of us in this room, Margi, and my OB/GYN. It's going to stay like that until I say." I warn looking between my husband and assistant.
"I understand." They say in unison.
Pretty soon make-up and hair come and Lindsey and I are holding hands walking onto the stage. Every pregnancy I've had has made me want sex so badly. However, watching Lindsey onstage every night turns me on anyway. Today is NO exception.
For many years I've dedicated Landslide to someone, "This is for you daddy." I say nonchalantly as Lindsey stars playing.
They're filming tonight and when the song is over, I reach out for Lindsey. Daddy echoes through my head as he pulls me close.
"Double meaning or are you being sneaky?" Lindsey whispers. I just blush he chuckles and kisses me. Lindsey has never kissed me onstage before.
"Thank you, Lindsey," I say
'Thank you, Stevie." He mimics we know exactly what we are thankful for.
***
After the show, Lindsey and I are bombarded with hugs. Jessie, and Chloe are asleep but everyone else is wide awake.
"Mom you were really good." Mason hugs me.
"Oh thank you, baby. I was so nervous." I smile, and I really was because I didn't get my shot of tequila before going on.
"The young man is right. Lindsey, Stephanie, I was pleasantly surprised. I liked that bird song." Martha crows hugging us.
"Wow, that means a lot, Ms. Elliot," I answer.
"Stephanie, it's been over twenty years. You can call me Aunt Martha." She pats my hand.
"Oh Teedee, you're glowing." My mother says pulling me into a hug.
"Am I?" I ask.
"Yes. Happiness looks good on you." My father kisses my forehead.
"Oh, how I wish I could've been up there with you but..." Lori says rubbing Jessie's back.
"Jess is more important than me," I say kissing the toddlers head.
"But I miss you and Sharon." She pouts.
"How come we aren't talking about the fact that my song isn't in the setlist." Sara pouts.
"Sara, you're the poet in my heart." Lindsey sings.
"No...you don't sing that...momma sings it.' Sara groans.
"At least you got Rhiannon...Sara Rhiannon Buckingham." I scold.
"True. Aunt Martha, if you thought Rhiannon was good tonight you should've heard it in the seventies. It was like an exorcism." Mick comes up.
"Excuse me, who are you?" Martha questions.
"Mick Fleetwood, the drummer. I've heard all of your conversation from bird song..."Mick chuckles.
"Martha Elliot. Lindsey's aunt." Martha holds her hand out.
"Charmed...anyway, I came to ask if our white-winged dove and her husband would be joining us at the after-party," Mick says
"I'm not, I'm going to the hotel and showering. Lindsey if you want to go you can." I say.
"I might. I haven't decided yet. I was up at three-thirty this morning trying to get back into tour shape. It's been a while since I've toured with this band this strenuously. About eight years." Lindsey says patting Joshua's back. Our son just gives him a cheesy grin.
"Has it really been that long? It really didn't seem like it up there tonight. You and Stevie sound as good as you did twenty years ago now?" Mick smiles.
"Yes, about that." Lindsey looks over to Sara.
"I can still remember the day Stevie waddled quite literally into that Mexican restaurant wearing a diners uniform and one week later getting that call. Yeah, we'll join your band but Stevie just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl." Mick chuckles patting Sara's back.
"Yes, I ate most of Christine's nachos. Speaking of, I'm hungry so, I'm going to get food. Then I am going to our hotel and sleeping. I love all of you. Joshua, Mason you better behave for your sister and your Aunt Lori. Don't be mean to Jessie or you'll be in a lot of trouble and won't get to go trick or treating or to your Halloween party. Do you understand?" I give my best mom talk.
"Yes, mom." My sons echo.
"Alright. Hugs and Kisses. I love you." I say
"We love you too." Sara smiles hugging me tightly.
***
The next three shows absolutely wipe me out so when we get home, I don't even make it up to bed. I end up falling asleep on the couch.

Teresa Hargrove was okay with giving up. She knew the Earth was doomed and there was nothing to be done about it. However, they are not meant to be of a specific ethnicity or social background and are instead perceived differently by people around them.
