《Timeless》36

Our semi-move to Arizona was complete. Eventually, we'll go back to California. Sara is starting fifth grade and Mason is going into first. Time is flying by so fast and I really want it to stop. Josh is going to be one in a month and then I go out on tour from October to December. Sara's not happy I am leaving but she's warmed up to the idea. Especially because Stevie promised she wouldn't be working.

As we finish unpacking Stevie breathes out and plops on our bed.

"What's the matter, Angel?" I ask sitting down next to her.

"I just don't feel good. I think my allergies are acting up it was awfully dusty in here, or I'm developing another ovarian cyst. The last one was right before I got pregnant with Joshua." Stevie answers.

"Let's just get some sleep. Tomorrow we go to LA and get to see our babies." I kiss her head.

"And you'll meet us back here in November for Thanksgiving?" Stevie smiles laying down.

At around three in the morning, the phone rang and I get up to answer.

"Hello." I groan.

'Daddy I had a bad dream." It's Sara

"What about?" I question.

"School. I'm scared something is going to happen at recess. Fifth graders don't get recess and if something happens I won't be there to protect him." Sara mumbles.

"Oh, sweet girl. How about this, when I drop you guys off on the first day I tell Mason's teacher that if anything happens they get you from class." I tell her.

"Okay. Daddy, will you sing for me?" Sara questions.

"Of course." I smile

I sing her Sara and then head to bed where I see my wife thrashing around. I crawl into bed and my hand hit's something wet. I turn the light on and my hand is tinted a slight crimson color along with our tan sheets, as well as Stevie's grey nightgown.

"Steph!" I yell.

She stirs and sits up almost immediately yelping in pain.

"Stevie, did you get your period?" I ask.

"I don't' think so. My periods never have a pool of blood or this much pain. Lindsey, you need to take me to the hospital." She says.

When we get to the ER they take her back and I am forced to wait in the waiting room. Everything going through my head terrifies me. I'm starting to understand how Stevie felt in Philadelphia four years ago.

"Mr. Buckingham." A doctor says walking into the waiting room.

"That's me," I say shooting up.

"Your wife had a major miscarriage. I'm so sorry for your loss. She was early stages, only about four weeks. We had to perform a D and C. You can go see her." The doctor says patting my shoulder.

I bite my lip and follow him to the room. When we walk in my wife is just staring at the ceiling.

"Steph," I say going over to the bed.

"Lindsey." She looks over to me.

"Hey, Angel," I answer looking at the doctor. He nods and walks out.

I crawl in bed with her and she wraps her arms around me and she starts sobbing.

"I didn't even know I was pregnant." She cries.

"You were only four weeks baby." I answer

"But still," She sobs.

All I do, is squeeze her tighter and rock her back and forth tears in my eye threatening to fall. As I rub her back she sniffles and abruptly pulls away from me.

"Lindsey, we aren't telling anybody about this. Ever." Stevie says sternly furiously wiping her eyes.

"Okay. We don't have to mention it again." I nod.
