《Timeless》25

The past few months have been great. My wife and I are back to sharing a bed and Don Henley hasn't reared his ugly head. Mason and Sara are glad that Mommy is back and our son has been cuddling with her nonstop. Today we fly to San Francisco for mom's birthday.
"Lindsey, would it be too bad keeping two homes?" Stevie questions halfway through the flight. Both kids are asleep.
"What do you mean? Keeping your Santa Monica Condo and our home on the outskirts of Los Angeles? They're only about an hour away from each other." I explain.
"I know. The LA home could be our main but if we wanted to go to the ocean on the weekends we have a place right on the water." Stevie says.
"If you want," I reply.
"Thank you." She kisses my cheek.
We land in San Francisco at noon and a car picks us up. My family home is bustling with people and Stevie and I just stand and stare.
"Do we even bother going in there? We'll be put to work." I say bending down and picking Sara up.
"We have to." Stevie sighs shifting Mason and walking to the front door.
It's even worse walking in and having to dodge a catering tray.
"Holy shit," I mutter
"They are really going all out for this aren't they?" Stevie asks.
"I guess so." I shrug.
"Oh, my babies how are you?" Ruth asks walking in and seeing us.
"Gramma!" Sara cheers wiggling out of my arms and running to my mother.
"Oh Sara, I've been meaning to give you something," Mom says going to the mantel and grabbing a picture.
"Is that me?" Sara asks.
"You and your Grandfather the day after you were born. You can have it." My mom smiles.

"Thanks, Grandma." Sara hugs her.

We're hanging out in the kitchen drinking some ice tea when the front door opens. "Rutheda..." We hear a voice.
"Fuck sake..." Stevie cries laying her head on my shoulder.
"Kitchen!" My mom yells back.
The first one in is Walter.
"Hi, Stevie." He gives a cheesy grin.
"Walter." Stevie nods.
"You look awfully pretty." He blushes and I hide a snort.
She's wearing a pair of worn-out bell bottoms and a tom petty tee-shirt tucked into them. She's got tennis shoes on her feet standing her very tall five one height and her hair is pulled into a messy bun on the top her head, she calls it a Gibson, I call it a nest. Her glasses are also perched on her face,
"Thank you." She states.
"I told you she was a skank, Lindsey. Why are you still dating her.?" Martha walks in.
"I'll have you know, I am not you and we have been married now for seven years. Don Henley is just an asshole. Now, don't focus on my marriage. Your husband also cheated on you and left you for her. So, re-evaluate everything you're saying about my wife. The only reason you don't like her is that we spent three days alone here at ages twenty-two and twenty-two." I spit.
"You're married!! Since when?" She gasps.
"January 27th, 1973. Our daughter was born on January 17th, 1975. So, so much for her trapping me with our five-year-old." I smile.
Martha just growls and walks out.
"Nice one Linds." Jeff cackles. All three of us share a healthy distaste for our mother's older sister.
"She was awful rude." Meredith crosses her arms.
"That's why Uncle Ralph ran," Jeff smirks.
"Daddy, can we swim?" Sara asks pointing the pool that I grew up splashing around in.
"Sure baby." I smile.
"Since when do you swim?" Greg asks.
"Daddy taught me in May. I'm also going to be taking dance classes in the fall. Mommy's been teaching me some ballet and the splits." Sara cheers.
"The Splits at your age? You got lucky Lindsey." Jeff looks at Stevie and I blush.
"I'm only 31." Stevie pouts. She and Sara have the same dangerous pout.

The Adventures of BLUE EAGLE
"Herald City. A great American metropolis, with gleaming towers and bustling streets. Never before has there been a safer place to live and work, because the citizens know that when disaster strikes, they can count on the protection of BLUE EAGLE. Blue Eagle--also known as David Dufraine--was born with incredible strength, powerful eyebeams, superhuman senses, and the amazing ability of flight. Possessing a strong sense of justice, he seeks to protect the city from criminals who prey on the innocent. Having taught these values to his son Jack, who possesses similar abilities, they protect Herald City as Blue Eagle and Switch the Blue Eaglet! Together, the Father-Son Duo wages a war on crazy criminals and notorious ne'er-do-wells, including the powerful perverter of plant life, QUEEN VENUS. These are the adventures of BLUE EAGLE and SWITCH THE BLUE EAGLET." Welcome, everybody! This superhero adventure is a nostalgic return to the good ol' days of the Filmation and Hanna-Barbera superhero cartoons of the 1960s and 70s. With Super Friends, The Adventures of Super Boy, and The Adventures of Batman and The New Adventures of Batman as inspiration, I hope to take you back to the olden days of wacky stories jam-packed with superhero action and excitement! This is actually a leadup of a much larger project I'm working on (which will be played straight, have a darker and more serious tone, and will be a multi-season serialized epic). I've been itching to publish something with my characters for some time, and this 8 episode miniseries just scratches that itch. So while my main series is being written, I hope you find some enjoyment in some good old fashioned superhero fun.

The Solipsist
Every novel needs a main character, and in this case, it's a young man named Jacob Bates. Jacob is your average guy who likes books, television, and long walks on the beach. One day, Jacob was diagnosed with a condition that made his body frail and weak. This drove Jacob to focus solely on his studies, ending up becoming a fairly capable guy, despite his condition. The road ahead was looking great! That's when a little scene occurred between Jacob's girlfriend and one of his male classmates. Jacob's mood was a little lower than dirt from thereon. His motivation to pursue his studies, gone. This event caused Jacob to fall into the death grip that is a job in retail. One day, while Jacob was mopping the cold floors of the grocery store he worked in, a strange blue screen appeared in front of him, notifying him that the world was going through a change. Now if this change was a good or bad thing, he didn't know. But there was one thing Jacob knew for certain. He didn't have to mop the floors anymore. Author's Note: (This is my first story, and I would be very thankful if grammatical errors were pointed out. I could also take a few suggestions in the comments if you would. This is less a planned production, and more a little project that I'm winging as it goes. I will try and be consistent with at least 2 chapters a week. Also, as I am a completely new author, the number of words per chapter may fluctuate. The minimum will be around 1000 words, while other chapters may be 2000-3000. It will hopefully only get better with time.)

The Dungeon's Escapee
An Earthling, a Summer Elf, and the only male Phoenix in existence walk into a Dungeon... Okay, maybe they don't really do it so much for glory but rather because it's their job, and maybe they weren't really together, and some of them were actually walking out. Enter the world of Cespes, a land of magic, mystery, and monsters. Now, the Ancient Gods have gone silent even as magic enters the Golden Era. The Avish Empire might have fallen four thousand years ago, yet much of society remains fragmented, even as they share more cultural ties than ever before. Adventurers have always formed parties. Now, there are Dungeons, dark, grey blobs that dominate Kingdom maps and kill everything within sight. Yet, beyond even these obvious places of danger entwined with fortune, a forgotten evil rears its head after fermenting for millennia. A call for heroes has arrived. Warning: This story is written in the first and third person with multiple POVs. I will try to publish at least once every two weeks, if not more. Cover art by: [email protected]
