《Timeless》4

"Stevie, I think we should have Thanksgiving together. My family and yours. It'll give our parents a chance to meet and of course, we can meet each other's parents." I suggest as we lay under the stars. It's chilly, but we're wrapped up together so it's okay.

"But Lindsey, is that really a good idea?" Stevie looks up at me.

"My mom really wants to meet you and this way you won't have to deal with my Aunt Martha alone when I bring you over to get your gift for Christmas." I smile.

"Oh yeah, you already got me a Christmas gift?" Stevie smiles.

"I don't know. What do you really want?" I rub her back.

"A white, female dog." Stevie smiles.

"I'll keep that in mind."

Strolling up to Stevie's house on Thanksgiving is terrifying. The giant two-story is covered with brown brick, white shutters, and many pretty flowers. A giant contrast to ours. My mother rings the doorbell and I internally freak out. There are my mother and father dressed to the nines. My brother Greg is dressed like a greaser with nice jeans and a white tee-shirt. Greg is also accompanied by his feisty red-headed girlfriend Corina. Jeff is dressed like the nerd he is and I'm wearing a grey monkey suit/tuxedo my mother picked out for me. We really are a sorry bunch.

The woman that opens the door looks a lot like Stevie and it's suddenly revealed who she got her looks from.

"Oh welcome! I'm Barbara. Which one is Lindsey?" She's jittery.

"Me!" I step in front of my father and shake her hand.

"Oh, you're so handsome! I'm so glad I finally get to meet the man that makes my little Teedee bird smile. Come, come." She says leading us into her house.

"Look who's here. This is my husband Jess and our son Christopher." Barbara smiles.

"Nice to meet you, son," Jess says shaking my hand.

"Pleasure." I smile.

"Teedee has not stopped talking about you. Who've you brought with you?" Jess asks.

"Well, Mr. and Mrs. Nicks, this is my dad Morris, my mom Rutheda and my brothers Greg and Jeff. This is Greg's girlfriend Corina." I introduce them.

"It's an honor to meet the president of Grey Hound. We just sent my sister-in-law three tickets for Christmas." My dad says as I shake my head.

"Well, I'm glad you chose my company," Jess responds.

"Mom, dad this is my girlfriend Stevie," I say as she walks down the stairs and eventually gets to me, so I can pull her into my arms.

"Oh dear, I'm so happy to meet you. You can call me Ruth." My mom grabs her from my arms and pulls her into hers.

"And you can call me Barbara." Stevie's mom pats my back.

Dinner went off without a hitch. Barbara and my mom get along swimmingly. Jess is intimidating, but after dinner, we started talking about USC, where I would've gone for college with a swimming scholarship, and it was a good conversation. As Stevie and I kissed goodnight, I whispered: "I told you it would be fine."

Weeks passed, and Christmas was finally around the corner. My mom wasn't too thrilled about Stevie's gift, but she's grown accustomed to it. It's four days until Christmas, Aunt Martha will be here in two days.

"Lindsey, your father and I would like to talk to you." My mother yells from downstairs.

Begrudgingly, I stop playing my acoustic and walk downstairs. My parents were perched on the couch very close together and I gulp. That position is never a good one to see when they say that they want to talk. It normally ends with a punishment of sorts, but we're adults now and the last time I was punished was maybe four years ago.

"Lindsey, what are your intentions with Stephanie?" My mom asks.

"I don't know, we've only been together for about six months, but I do know that I love her and if Destiny has us stay together we will," I explain.

"That's a very adult answer. How old are you son?" My dad chimes in.

"Well, I just turned twenty-one." I shrug my shoulders.

"And how old is Stephanie?" My mom asks.

"Twenty-one. Twenty-two in May." I answer.

"So, you both are consenting adults. Your father has to go on a business trip. It's only for three days. Tonight, tomorrow, and the following. We'd be home around eight. Aunt Martha will get here around one. Your father and I have agreed that you and Stevie can stay here. Your brothers won't be home until Christmas Eve." My mom explains.

"Are you guys sure?" I question in disbelief.

"Yes, you two are old enough and besides your mother wants grandchildren." My dad says as I blush, and my mom smacks his arm.

I call Stevie and as soon as nightfall comes we make love and cuddle up.

"Lindsey," Stevie says as we come down from our highs. Both panting heavily.

"Yes, dear?" I ask playing with her hair.

"I love you." She smiles sleepily.

"I love you too." I beam. She bites her lip and we go for round two.

It ends quicker than round one and as we're falling asleep we gently press kisses to each other.
