《Not Anyone | Vernon Chwe》Chapter 5

I let out a chuckle after hearing everything Gia said, and mostly trying to forget or for just even a moment, all the things that happened here.
Night already fell and just earlier, I was planning on going out and tour the place at night time, but after having this kind of day, I feel so worn out that I just decided to move it to tomorrow.
"So, how is everything there?", My smile slowly subsided as I hear her question. If I tell her, would it make me feel better? But if I really do, will she get worried and regret letting me go alone here?
"Yeah... I think everything's just fine..."
Maybe I'll just tell her when I get back. Wouldn't it be a waste if I already ruin the mood in my very first day here?
"That's great, but it feels kinda empty here without you...", I just laughed. "I'm serious, really."
"Oh yes you are.", I sarcastically said, earning a scoff from her. "I know you're telling the truth. It sucks without me, right?"
"On the second thought, I think it's not that bad being alone, having the whole apartment to myself...just me, myself and I...alone..."
"Then who's that behind you?"
"Hey!", She shrieked that I couldn't even think twice about holding my laughter. I can't believe she bought that.
"Okay okay.", I couldn't help but just laugh. I thought she wasn't scared of anything. "I'm going to bed now~ Talk to you later!"
"Alright. Enjoy you're stay there."
"Yes~ I will."
"Oh! and goodnight!"
"You too~", she chuckled. "Dream of me~"
"I suddenly don't wanna go to sleep."
We both laughed then again and after some more minutes, we bid goodbyes and ended the call. I'm glad I called her, that way, I got to free myself from all those stress. It would've been more fun if she was here too.
"Let's just go to sleep...", I mumbled to myself. "...and enjoy myself tomorrow!"I hope...

I sighed at the sight of my phone, showing that it was already eleven in the morning. I was supposed to wake up at seven but out of my will, I got carried away using my phone last night that I slept past midnight.
I tried so hard earlier to wake by my alarm but I just couldn't. One thing that I hate about myself, is that I don't have self control or like time management.
But it's sort of okay, it's not like I have any schedule to catch. I'll just move now if I don't want to regret anything anymore.
First thing I did when I got out of the hotel, I dined at a restaurant that is known to be a hot place. Well, before coming here, I did a lot of research, and I'm glad I did. But when I went there, majority of the people there had acquaintances and it felt like I was the only one who doesn't.
I should get used to it. I think I'll be lonely for who knows how long.
"Gracias!", I thanked the vendor as she handed me the snack that I bought. I took a seat at one of the vacant bench there that has been sheltered from the sun with a big tree, and just enjoyed the scene of the lake with people riding on rowing boats.
I knew going to the park would be a great idea for my first day touring around this place.
Everything here was just soothing, from the emerald green water, to the nature and the clear sky, and seeing happy people, I could hang around here for hours.
"Hey! Good afternoon!", Just when I was about to take a bite out of my food, I heard a voice from beside me which caused me to instinctively face that person, he was wearing a long black coat in this hot weather and in a beanie that is also black.
For a fact, I might just misheard it or he's talking to another person, but the benches are too far away from each other that I couldn't even understand what those people from the other bench were talking about. "Can I sit here? All the benches here are occupied and it seems like you're the only one sitting here...so...uhm...can I...?"

Him, indirectly telling me that I'm alone somehow pierced a pain through my chest.
"Y—Yeah. You can sit here...", his face immediately lit up as he took a seat beside me with a good distance. "You can sit there since... I'm alone...", I mumbled to myself, low enough to not make him hear it.
I went back to continue eating but I then again stopped halfway when I realized something.
"Uhm excuse me but—", when I turned to look at him, I halted my words when I saw him holding a camera up to his face. Seeing his side profile, I realized that he had long lashes that my very own can't relate. He was handsome too, to add up.
"Sorry, I had to focus.", He said as he brought down his camera. "So what where you going to say?", He faced me. I don't know why but there's something about his voice, his features that made my heart unknowingly pound.
"Uh—Uhm So...", What was I supposed to ask him again? How could I even forgot? My mind shifted and got too focused on his looks, and him in general that I've even forgotten my main purpose on calling for him. I looked elsewhere briefly and faced him once again when I finally remembered. "I was just about to ask if you were speaking in english earlier."
"What?", His thick brows furrowed. Did he not just understand what I said?
"What I mean is...a—are you talking in english?"
"Yeah...? I guess.."
"Oh, okay. My mind's kinda messed up at the moment...so....", I awkwardly chuckled, tending my eyes back infront.
I think I sounded so wrong. He just asked me what, and that was in english, wasn't that enough reason for me to believe myself that we did converse in english?
Pathetic. I'm pathetic.
"It seems like you're not from here too.", He suddenly uttered that I slowly faced him, and the moment I did, he was already looking at me. His stare can melt, I guess.
"Y—Yeah...", I forged a chuckle. "B—But...how did you know?"
"I guess when you asked me why I was talking to you in my native language."
I really feel like an idiot talking to him. "Oh... right...", He chuckled, and I've never heard a chuckle as deep as his before. But there's this something that makes him kinda sound like that voice that I heard from the hotel, deep yet soothing. "I'm quite glad that you were the one who asked to take a seat here beside me."
"Why?"
"Because I feel like once and for all, I'll loose all my braincells trying to come up with a decent sentence that is in Spanish.", He chuckled then again, that it somehow made me plaster a smile. "I'm not good with languages, or even memorizing stuffs."
"Really?"
I nodded. "I can feel what Dory felt. Easily forgetting things..."
"Dory?", My forehead creased when I saw his confused face.
"You know...Dory... that blue fish in that movie... Finding Nemo...", I just looked at him expectant that he'll probably remember that famous movie. "...her and Nemo's dad went looking for Nemo...and...on the second movie, she was the one who went missing...so Nemo and his dad were now the ones who are looking for her..."
"Oh! Dory! Yeah, I remember.", He closed his eyes and shook his head as he laughed.
I can't believe I explained a whole two movie to a stranger, and what's funnier is that it's an animated movie, a movie for kids...and we're both grown ups...
