《The Healer | ✔》36. Do I Have A Crush?

Fine silk like breeze rifted through the lace white curtains. The howling gales, with passion driving them clattered with the documents kept on his desk, creating a rustling sound, and despite them not being the leaves of fall, scattered in the mercy of wind. It was the rhythm of nature, an old song that is being sung from millennium. It was calm, soothing and gentle.
Similar to his touch on me. My emotions were soaring, ready to settle in ecstasy and burn in restlessness. Restlessness of what? I've no idea. But it was there. And it was blazing with intensity.
His fingers trailed down my cheek, the tip of his rough yet soft fingers created a burning need in me. A need to feel them in places that are still unrevealed. But they halted on my chin, gently cupping it. I closed my eyes at the slight graze while my body demanded for more. When I opened my eyes, I found him lost in his own thoughts. His touch still a soothing caress on my skin. His onyx eyes, that usually holds a piercing gaze, now soft and warm. His thick eyebrows slightly pulled together, showing how deep he is in his thoughts. The pair of plump pink lips that recently I've always seen in a smirk now still and unmoving. His sharp jaw covered in slight stubble and I resisted an urge to run my fingers across it. His raven black hair, falling gently on his forehead, giving this charming and brooding man a touch of boyishness.
I was commiting the same mistake again. But then, why does it not feel like a mistake? Instead, I've a burning desire to walk on the same path again. May be this time I'll receive roses instead of thorns? May be this time he'll catch me before falling.
After all, he's not the same Kabir anymore. He's changed. He's not that same man who derived pleasure by controlling others, he looks ready to bow before me.
I had made a mistake falling for that Kabir, but this Kabir, may be this will turn out different than last time. I just hope his memories never come back. His smiles, the innocent mischief in his eyes, the winks that electrifies the butterflies in my stomach to flutter rapidly, everything that now I'm witnessing, is completely different from what I had expected before coming here.
This Kabir, is not him. And he'll never be. Not unless those memories come back. And so, I don't want them to come back ever. I don't want them to create a rift between us, separating us apart. Because it's not only about us anymore, our kids are involved. And they deserve this Kabir as a father. Not that one.
How I wish I had soften that Kabir. Was my love weak that it didn't stand a chance against his hatred for world.
Even if he's the same person, it feels different living with him now. It feels weird talking with him. Because he has a type of grins that will send ladies in a heart clenching swoon. But the rare genuine smiles of him in past had me melting in a puddle.
What if Kabir had both sides to him. The gentleness and roughness balanced. The cold smirks and boyish grins, dominance and submission, rare heart melting smiles and silly charming smiles, everything making their own presence when needed. Wouldn't that have made him more irresistible? More appealing. More....
I blinked. Coming out of my thoughts and cussing myself at how wandering they could get. For God's sake they are mine, yet I can't tame them.

"I wish your memory never comes back.", I spoke out my mind.
"Why? I thought you want them to come back so I'll realize what wrong I've done.", H said in his soothing murmur, a gentleness to his tone and caress as his thumb stroke my cheek.
"Yeah, initially I wanted the same. But now I don't. Because, I want this Kabir as a father to our kids. Not the one in past.", I said and for a second noticed hurt flashing in his eyes as they lost their usual twinkle.
Did I said something wrong?
"And what about you?"
"What about me?", My brows furrowed together.
"Don't you want this Kabir more than that? More than just a father?", He said it huskily, sensually, and I witnessed the somersaults in my stomach increasing. My heart raced with millions of possibilities of how I'll answer his questions. There were two options, either I deny or accept. There's no way I'll accept his advances so early. And there's hesitation in pushing him away.
I wanted to bite on his finger that was rubbing against my bottom lip. I had a crave to make him go through the same insanity of pleasure like he pushed me in yesterday. But the way my toes curled as excitement surged through my body, I know we may end up in a compromising position if I do something like that. And our son is still fast asleep.
"We'll see about that!", I said flicking his finger away much to my body's dismay. His winks has always send my heart in a frenzy, and I wanted to see if I've the same effect on him. But when I winked, he was all open about the shock he felt. I hat to hold my chuckle until I got out of the room.
With a silly smile of sweet defeat etched on my face, I strolled downstairs. I was happy. Genuinely and completely.
Do I have a crush?
I guess.... Yes....
I cupped my flat stomach, now proud that we made this new bundle of joy together. Although I was in pain and humiliation that time, but the way he held me, felt like he was worshipping me. Despite not remembering anything from the past, he's all ready to give up on his bachelor life because he wants us. He wants me. He wants Reyansh. And he wants this new baby.
Am I too quick to make a decision?
Yes I'm. But this time I'm cautious. I'll not readily jump back in his arms and render myself defenseless like last time. He has to prove himself. He has to earn the spot in my brain like he has in my heart. Because a side of me is still in denial for this new development, something in me is still afraid for my dignity. And I'm not going to give him another chance to humiliate me. Although he has made a room for himself in my heart, he needs to make it permanent. And for that, he needs to win my trust which is still dwindling weakly.
A chance he wants? A chance he'll get. But he won't be made aware of that. Without knowing that he's approved of a chance he has to struggle to make a spot for himself in our life. I don't want to give him any hope. I want to see how far he goes without it. It may sound cruel, but I've lived with him for a year without it, and he should know how it feels to live like that. I want to see how much time until he gives up.

"Finally I can see you smiling happily!", A tender voice halted me and shyly I casted my eyes down. "You look like a newly married bride.", She cooed as she stroked my head.
"Aunt Taila!", I blush harder.
She laughed before shaking her head. "Now, shall I start the preparation of lunch because it's way past breakfast time now.", She said and I smacked my forehead.
"The breakfast that Kabir brought?"
"It's still in kitchen-", her words stopped at the sound of door bell.
"I'll attend it!", I said patting her shoulder before advancing towards the door. The moment I opened it, a little boy rushed past me.
"Reyansh!", He screamed and I flinched.
"I'm so sorry, Ma'am!", Karthik Sir stepped front before he dashed inside past me.
"Dev, behave yourself!", He chastised the little guy who guiltily looked down.
"I'm so sorry-"
"Dev!", An ear piercing scream staggered both of us. My son came running downstairs, which was very unlike him and laughed along with the boy who now I recognize as Dev. Karthik sir's son. Reyansh grabbed his wrist and pulled him to the back door to get in backyard.
"Okay...", I chuckled at the rapidness of events that happened within a span of five minutes.
"I'm sorry-"
"Sir, stop saying sorry and don't call me Ma'am. I'm not your ma'am. Don't forget I still receive less salary than you. Your boss is being biased!", I said playfully but the way his eyes widened and horror settled in them I knew he took my words seriously.
"I'll ask Mr. Raichand to increment your salary-"
"Why not decrease yours instead?", I asked raising my brow. His eyes dulled as his mouth turned down in a frown. I tried not to laugh. "Just kidding!", He sighed in relief.
"Oh no! My wife is still out!", He face-palmed.
"Oh! Should I go and call her in?", I offered.
"Uhm no, I'll do that. She's kind of self-conscious.", I awed at his lovestruck face before nodding.
He went out and I hurried upstairs.
Kabir was still lying on bed, lazily scrolling on his phone with a scowl on his face when I entered the bedroom.
"What the hell Kabir? Get up and wear something!", I said and he got up with a frown.
"Why what happened?"
"Just wear a shirt!", I snapped as I surfed through his wardrobe to find him something decent to wear.
"Why? You can't control yourself seeing me shirtless?", He wiggled his eyebrows and I slammed the ball of shirt down on his face. He grabbed it off and pulled it down.
"एक चमाट मारुंगी ना खिचके, सारी अकल ठिकाने आ जाएगी. चुपचाप कपड़े पहन लो और निचे आ जाओ. ", I ordered him before walking out of his room. My heart was about to melt at the sight of his hurt stricken pout but I held myself strong. Good job, Rivaah!
Karthik Sir and his wife were still standing despite Taila's countless request to have a seat.
"Sir, have a seat please.", I said while walking downstairs.
"No, Rivaah. We're ready to leave.", He said gesturing to his wife. To say she's beautiful would be an understatement. She seemed to be a living embodiment of innocence.
"C'mon, Sir, please give us a chance of hospitality. Have a seat.", I said and he sighed before occupying the three seater sofa along with his wife.
"Aunt Taila, tea-"
"With snacks coming right up!", She said with a smile and I chuckled before nodding.
"So, how's Dehradun for you?", I asked after sitting down on the sofa before them.
"It's nice. Dev loves this place.", His wife replied.
"Oh that's nice. I'm Rivaah by the way.", I introduced myself.
She blushed as we had started the conversation without even knowing each other properly. "I'm Gayatri.", She said and I nodded.
"Beautiful name.", I complimented, her blush deepened. Geez, what a shy lady. I wonder how they made Dev? Goodness what a pervert I am!
"Thanks. You're-", she stopped with a gasp, her wide eyes locked at something behind me. I turned around and saw Kabir frozen on the second stair shirtless!
"Oh damn! Sorry!", He squeaked before scrambling back to his room. I was burning in embarrassment as I turned to face them again.
Her cheeks were red and Karthik Sir had his eyes fixed on the wall.
"I'm sorry on his behalf.", I said apologetically.
"It's fine.", Gayatri smiled streanously.
I smiled shakily.
What the hell is wrong with this man!? I had told him to come down after wearing something but he came half-naked!? How dare he!? And he posed like a Vogue model right in front of some unknown lady!
I counted to ten inside my head to calm down.
"So Reyansh was demanding for your son since morning?", I smiled at the chaos that was happening in our backyard.
"What do you mean?"
"Reyansh was asking me to take him to Dev. When I denied, he waited for his father to come home so that he'll take him there. I guess it was your son he was very eager to meet again?", I chuckled.
"Oh, yeah. Dev too was demanding to be brought here since morning. When he started crying, we couldn't hold back the temptation.", She smiled guiltily.
"It's fine. Actually I'm happy that they found friend in each other as we're away from our families."
"That's true.", Karthik Sir nodded.
Aunt Taila came with a tray of tea and some snacks. I took it from her with a small thank you before offering the couple tea cups.
Me and Gayatri frowned as Karthik Sir suddenly got up.
"Sit down, Karthik. Stop treating me like a judge of some criminal court.", I heard Kabir's deep voice behind me before feeling the sofa dip beside me.
The standing man sat down with a light blush. This couple blushes alot.
Gradually they let themselves loose with us and the conversation developed into a casual and friendlier one. I then requested them to join us for lunch but Karthik Sir denied until Kabir said the same, dominance differentiating our tones.
We had lunch and Kabir had to forcefully detach Reyansh from Dev as he was not ready to let his new friend go. Even Murphy was running in circles around Dev to stop him.
"Reyansh, stop!", Kabir warned as he was trying to jump out of his father's arms.
Dev waved sadly through his car window before their car drove out of our premises.
"Why can't he stay with me for tonight!", Reyansh demanded as he kicked Kabir on stomach.
I decided not to join this fight and strolled back inside. Let him be the strict father when needed.
"Because he has a home of his own!", Kabir said while bringing him in. He made Reyansh stand on the tea table and sat down on couch. "Ouch!"
I snickered as Reyansh jumped down on his father earning a painful groan in response.
"Because he has a home of his own!", Reyansh mocked, trying to mimic his father's deep voice.
Kabir gasped and looked at me in disbelief. I shrugged.
There's not always a sweet and adorable side to our son. In times this little devil is the most notorious kid.
"How dare you?", Kabir's eyes narrowed.
"How dare you?", I'm damn sure Reyansh must have tried to copy Kabir's facial expressions as well.
"You'll get grounded for this behavior!", Kabir said strictly and I snickered. Is he serious?
"What's that?", Reyansh asked innocently with a frown.
I left the father son duo in living room to grab something for me to eat. I'm gonna get fat at this speed.
The day far by went peacefully thereafter. Next day we followed the same routine and reached office after dropping Reyansh, Murphy and Taila at Karthik sir's house. He said until his son resumes back to school, he has no problem with Reyansh visiting and staying till office hours end.
My all peace was snatched away when I saw someone else occupying my chair.
"How dare you enter my office without my permission?", I glared at him.
He brushed his brown curls back before getting up with a smirk etched on his face. "I just thought of greeting you good morning, Miss. Verma. Why so salty?", He chuckled softly.
"Out!", I opened the door to my office.
"Tch tch! I didn't know women has the trait of resisting? Actually, I never met one, until now.", He said taking predatory steps towards me.
"Get. Out. Of. My. Office. Mr. Mehrotra!", I gritted out.
"Game is on, Miss. Verma. No one has stood a chance against me. And you promised your team that you'll lead the campaign this time? Is this your trick to April fool them? Because it sounds like one.", He snickered, finding humor in his own stupid words.
"We'll see that.", I nodded.
"We'll definitely see that.", He stood straight. His eyes raked up and down my body, before he hummed in what sounded like satisfaction. "This will be fun. I was so bored bedding spineless women."
Are all men here pervert!?
"Get the hell out!", I wanted to scream but I settled on snarling at him.
He laughed. "Remember one thing though, what Mehrotras want, Mehrotras get.", He winked before strutting out. I slammed door shut after him.

Sanjak-beys and Aghas of the Janissary Corps all seek to devour their enemies, both in and out of the Sultanate. And Baybur, in the midst of this brewing storm, is no different from a fish dreaming to be a dragon. But a woman he meets at the banquet changes everything; his goals, his dreams, and his fate. After all, love, without expression, is a deadly curse. As a note, Cover is not mine obviosuly, and I write this both for NaNoWriMo and Writathon. To some history lovers and nerds who specialize in it, I know you might be angered quite a deal with some things I've written.(I get the feeling when someone talks wrong foolish things in a study I know, no hate) But this is a historical fiction written by a seventeen-year-old, don't expect much from me to know every single detail. Much of my research is surface level and some things are, well, to fit plot, are changed. So bear that in mind. For schedule/chapter thingt, there will be at most five chapters until I pass the 55.555 words mark. Each chapter will be around or above 10k+ words. It is also not edited, and probably won't be unless I find a great deal of time in my hands after November to see what I lack in where. That's all. Now go read, or leap to another fiction. Enjoy!

The walk to his bedroom was short, and before she could say anything, she found herself on his bed, him hovering over her.
