《The Healer | ✔》35. Am I In Love?

"How about a coffee instead?", She asked me, sun streams reflected in her amber eyes reminding me of Rivaah.

"I'm sorry-"

"Don't be. A coffee is all I'm asking for?", Her eyes widened, hope gleaming in them.

"I don't have time. But I'm ready to pay. If you want, I'll send someone to take your car to garage so you don't have to worry about wasting your time.", I said apologetically.

"C'mon, it's just a coffee!", She said with a shrug.

"My son is waiting for me. Not for me actually, but for his breakfast. So I've to go.", I said and her eyes widened before she blinked and her lips pulled down in a frown.

"Oh, it's fine. Some other day may be?", She asked and I was annoyed now. What part of I have a son she doesn't understand? If I've son, that means I've a wife too. I can't even reject her outright because it was my mistake bumping into her car and I don't want to end up in police station.

"Yeah, fine.", I said half-heartedly.

"Great! Your phone number?", She demanded as she fished out her phone from her back pocket of jeans.

"I can type it for you?", I suggested and she handed me her phone. I punched in a random combination of ten numbers and handed it back to her. "There you go."

"I'll message you?", She asked looking up after keeping her phone back at it's place.

"Sure.", I nodded and walked back to my car. Getting in, I flashed her a quick smile through windshield as she was staring at me and drove out of there as soon as possible. I didn't know I'm so popular among female population.

Okay, just kidding. I know how much they want me. Someone tell this to my wife please.

Even after having no memory of her I've accepted them easily, then what problem she has. I know it is hard considering what a stupid I was in my past, but I'm not same anymore. I at least deserve a chance to prove myself.

Last night she was jealous. I saw how me dancing with other women affected her. Yet she still rejected to accept that. And let that aside for time being, I know accepting jealousy bruises your ego so I'm not blaming her. But why would she blame me for the moment that happened between us. She didn't looked disgusted when I sucked on her fingers. She didn't look grossed out when I licked them clean. In fact she looked all ready to moan my name. And this morning, damn the way she was eyeing me. My dick was all ready to wave at her.

Shit! Why the hell I'm heading back home!?

I thought as I found myself driving in a familiar lane. In all the thoughts, I forgot about my son's breakfast. Damn you girl for invading my thoughts as if you own them.

I spotted a good bakery at the end of the street and sighed in relief. After grabbing my order, I headed back home.

"What took you so much time!?", Reyansh whined when he spotted me entering.

"I'm sorry.", I said simply before waving the brown packet in my hands to lure him in. His anger forgotten as he eyed the bag hungrily.

He tried to jump at me but I held him back. "You're all bathed, Rey. I'm not. So stay away.", I said and strolled inside kitchen. She was inside with Taila, preparing something. At the sound of my approaching footsteps, she looked up.

"Oh! Taila, I forgot my wallet in car. Can you please bring it?", I asked narrowing my eyes.

"Sure, darling.", She smiled and left. Such a sweet lady.

After placing the breakfast on kitchen counter, I strolled close to her. She frowned. "What are you doing?"

I don't know why, but I have an urge to trouble her. And what Kabir wants, Kabir does.

She started stepping back cautiously.

"You look all fresh?", I smirked as I eyed her up and down.

"Uhm, yeah. I just had a bath. Why?", She asked as she looked down at herself before meeting my eyes with confusion etched all over her face.

"I'm still sweaty because of gym.", I shrugged and her eyes widened as she realized my motives.

"So-So? Go and take a shower!", She instructed me pointing at the kitchen door.

"I'm jealous of you. How could you take a shower before me?", I pouted.

"What is wrong with you, Kabir? In times like this I feel that the earlier Kabir was better!", She screeched as she took a run for the back door. I leaped at her and caught her by waist. She shrieked before her face screwed in disgust. "Gross! You stink! Leave me!", She screamed and few seconds later I heard Reyansh's giggles.

"Let's make Mommy dirty, Reyansh! What say?", I asked him wiggling my eyebrows.

He came front and nodded.

"Kabir you really stink- Ugh!", She groaned as I rubbed my sweaty arms against her body. "What the hell is wrong with you!?"

"Haww! Rey, Mommy used bad word!", I said in an exaggerated manner and he gasped for extra effects.

"C'mon Rey, do your work. We've to make Mommy dirty! She thinks-", I stopped as Reyansh laughed after throwing an egg at his mother. Okay, I didn't expect this game to go so extreme. May be I did it a little too much?

I unclipped my arms from her and stepped back. She looked horrified. The egg was splashed right on her neck. She closed her eyes, her chest was heaving up and down vigorously. Her nose was flaring in anger. I could see how hard she was trying to calm herself down.

I chuckled soundlessly. I admire her patience.

Sensing a presence, I looked at kitchen entrance and saw Taila looking at us with a smile.

Reyansh's giggles caught my attention and my eyes widened when I saw he was ready to throw another egg at Rivaah. Goodness! Doesn't he know it's fatal to poke an angry lioness? Before I could stop him, he threw it at her and it landed on her chest. The egg yolk and egg white dripped down her clothes, soaking them as well.

I felt being sucked into an horror movie when I noticed her hands curling up in fists and jaw clenching tightly. And therefore, like a responsible father that I'm, I grabbed my son and dashed out of kitchen. Reyansh was laughing loudly when I rushed upstairs along with him in my arms.

"You'll kill us someday!", I said as I made him stand on bed. We both flinched at the sound of utensil getting slammed against floor.

"She's angry.", Reyansh said palming his mouth. But his eyes still had that glint of playfulness.

"Smart realisation!", I said and we both burst out laughing.

I went to take a bath and until then Reyansh busied himself on my phone. He's getting attached a lot to that device recently.

When I came out all fresh, he looked at me immediately and I knew at that instant that he's gonna demand for something. I raised my brows while patting my hair dry.

"Let's go to Dev's house?", He asked tilting his head to one side innocently.

"Who's Dev?", I frowned.

"Dev, daddy! Dev!", He said widening his eyes and waving his hands in air as if me not knowing who Dev is something he's not very pleased about.

"Who Dev?", I mimicked him. He eyed me disapprovingly before clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth.

"I-", he suddenly sat down.

"Rey!", I rushed to him. He looked tired and sleepy.

"Nothing, Daddy. I'm just sleepy.", He said faking a yawn. I understood he was exhausted because of his anemic condition. Looping my hands around his underarms, I hoisted him up and settled him on my lap.

"No one told you lying is bad?", I asked as I pecked his nose.

"Hmm hmm.", He hummed before laying his head on my chest.

My heart constricted in undescribable pain. He doesn't deserve this. My son is such a pure soul, why would nature play so cruelly with him. The fear of losing him is so terrifying that it wakes me up at nights sometimes. And I haven't even spent enough time with him, I can't afford losing the only hope of my life. I don't care whether I remember anything or not, the connection I've with him doesn't need the stamp of memories. I've adored him without knowing he was my son, and now I love him even if I don't have memories of creating this beautiful bundle of happiness.

He's my carbon copy. His eyes, nose, the way his lips turns in a crescent moon, everything eerily resembles with me. The way he tries to control every conversation, manipulates everyone with his never ending sweet talks, gets his demands accepted, my heart goes to him for all his childish antics. He's my sweet ball of sugar and nothing in this world can take this sweetness away from me.

He's beat to my heart. A ray of hope to look forward to future.

"You're gonna get a good beating-"

"Shh!", I said in a hushed tone as Rivaah barged in furiously. Reyansh stirred a little and I caressed his back to get him back to sleep.

"What happened? Why did he fell asleep so early in the morning?", She asked sitting beside me. Her hand approached his face and she gently stroke his cheek.

"He's tired.", I sighed looking at her.

Her face hardened before she took a deep breath.

"Sometimes I feel like stopping him from exerting himself too much, but then, he deserves to be normal like other kids, don't he?", She looked up at me with her big innocent amber eyes. I nodded. "Why him, Kabir? Why our child?", She sniffed.

"Hey, everything will be fine. This little Superman or Supergirl-", she chuckled at my confusion. "This baby will heal our child. And everything will turn out right at the end.", I said and she smiled as hope radiated through her golden pools.

A whisper of wind intruded the silence of room as we stared at each other. It felt as if time stood still for us. Those five years I was alone, it was for this moment. And this moment is worth every breath of my life. The incompleteness I used to feel, these two fills that emptiness. All the doubts I had, all the questions I was afraid to ask, everything is here with me. My answers, my two beautiful and precious answers are right now together with me. Everything that I've suffered through, those empty nights, the lonely thoughts, the missing puzzles of my life that I was desperate to find, I've finally found them. And I'll protect them. Until my last breath.

A lucky strand flickered on her face and I softly pushed it back. My finger trailed down her cheek, resting on her face. I let my touch kiss her, let my eyes devour her for she's mine in this moment. And even she can't deny that. The way she has closed her eyes, shows how much my single touch affects her. I just need her to get her out of the shell she has pushed herself in. I just need her to trust me, and I'll bring world to her feet.

One chance, that's all I ask. That's all I need.

Every happiness will be laid before them. Along with the power over me. I'm all theirs, and I know Reyansh has accepted me. I just need her to take me now.

The commitment is big, it sometimes scares me. But I'm ready. Even if I've to shred myself to pieces to fill their empty holes, I'm all eager to do so. I've given them pain, and even if I don't remember anything, to mend the mistakes is my only aim.

May be I was stupid in past. Or may be I was too lost in my own broken fragments to consider someone else's existence. But that was all past and I'm not up to repeat the same mistake again.

"I wish your memories never come back.", She spoke slicing the silence.

"Why? I thought you want them to come back so I'll realize what wrong I've done.", I said, my thumb stroking her cheek.

"Yeah, initially I wanted the same. But now I don't. Because, I want this Kabir as a father to our kids. Not the one in past.", Her words felt like a stab.

Was I that bad? Now I'm glad the accident happened.

"And what about you?"

"What about me?", Her brows furrowed.

"Don't you want this Kabir more than that? More than just a father?", I questioned while my thumb stroke her bottom lip. It felt silly referring myself as a third person, but I just said it.

"We'll see about that.", She said flicking my thumb away from her lips. My eyes widened at the wink she sent me before walking out of the room.

My heard was racing past it's limit. Did she just- did she just wink at me? Is she high on alcohol!?

"Calm down, Daddy. Your heart is beating so fast.", I heard Reyansh's sleepy voice.

But I was unable to say anything. It felt as if all the nerves in my brain just froze at her one action. Damn the woman can render me paralyse with just a wink!

Am I in love!?

I'm so gone!

I fell down on bed and sighed dreamily.

"Daddy, Dev's house!", Reyansh knocked on my chest.

"Who Dev-"

"Reyansh!", I heard a loud scream of a little boy.

"He's here!"

Reyansh jumped off me as his lips pulled up in a huge grin. He skipped to the door and ran out.

I was about to follow him but my phone beeped catching my attention. I grabbed the palm size device and unlocked it to see a message from an unknown number.
