"You can take Reyansh with you. But not this child. So until this is born, you'll stay at your parents house!", Reyansh stood frozen as he heard his father say that. The words were a biggest blow to his innocent heart who was already full to the end with love for his father. But Daddy doesn't want him.

"Mommy was right. You don't want me.", He whispered catching his parents attention. But he couldn't see his mother clearly, the sight was turning fuzzy and he could no longer hold himself on feet. The day's tiring events took a toll on him and he collapsed right there on ground shocking both of his parents.

"Reyansh!", Rivaah gasped before she scurried to cradle her son in her arms like a delicate beauty of a bubble. She cupped his face and lightly patted his cheeks. "Baby, wake up. Rey, baby.", She sobbed and tears almost blocked her vision before she aggressively cleaned her eyesight with the back of her palm. Her arms flailed desperately when his body was lifted off from her lap. Kabir turned and immediately strode out, rushing downstairs. She stood up and ran behind him.

"Give him to me. I'll carry him.", She said when he struggled to open the door of car. He quickly handed their son to her and opened the door. Nodding at her to get in. When she was settled inside, he slammed door shut and jogged to the offside, quickly getting in and driving out of mansion premises.

When they reached hospital and stepped out, she knew Reyansh with her in arms might slow down her speed so she quietly gave him back to his father. Both of them strode inside hospital, there was no exchange of words between them until Rivaah directed him to follow her instead of asking at the reception. That earned a frown from Kabir but he decided to stay quiet for a time being.

When they reached a deserted corridor, she stopped the doctor in white coat as if she already knows him. "He fainted, Dr.", She breathed out hurriedly.

"Prepare the room!", The doctor instructed before he gently took the unconscious boy from Kabir and waltzed inside a room along with the two nurses immediately following him.

He noticed Rivaah sitting down on chair, but his unsettled, shaken up mind couldn't find peace in all these chaos. He paced to and fro the empty corridor, carrying the weight of guilt he felt after seeing Reyansh's broken eyes. How was it so easy for him to say something so absurd when he can't even see his son in tears!? How can he break his son's innocent heart by saying something so irrational and heartless!? He felt dumb and stupid.

Rubbing his temples in frustration and brushing his hand across his dark silky hair, he leaned against the spotless dull wall and closed his eyes shut. His left leg continued to shake in impatience.

The moment they heard the sound of door, both of them jumped on their feet and hassled closer to the doctor.

"Is everything okay?", Rivaah asked, worry lines evident on her forehead.

"Uhm-", The doctor looked uncomfortably at Kabir, hesitant to speak and disclose the information regarding patient in front of a possible stranger.

"Speak up! I'm his father!", Kabir growled causing the old man to flinch.

"O-Oh! I'm sorry, Sir.", He smiled awkwardly. "Don't worry, Mr and Mrs. Verma. You should know anemia is a common problem most of the cancer patients suffer with. He'll be fine soon.", The man said before he excused himself. "Ah by the way, you can go inside but please don't disturb him.", He said and disappeared in his office that was close by.

Rivaah took a step front but a sudden and painful grip on her wrist stopped her from moving ahead.

"He has cancer?", Kabir asked feebly.

"Hmm.", She hummed in response, lowering her head down to floor.

"Why didn't you tell me?", He asked as he sniffled, trying to hold back his tears.

"Because you don't remember us. And we don't need you in our life.", She said before escaping his grip and turning the knob, slowly stepping inside. It was a lie that she and Reyansh doesn't need him. If it was not him that they need, she would have never stepped a foot in this country. That's how badly she needs him. Or, needed him.

Her son was attached to the fluids and the sight broke her heart. Soon enough she heard the door opening and couple of seconds later, closing quietly. His masculine scent thickened in the closed room and she found herself calming down.

The sight of his son so weak crumbled every ounce of strength left in him. He felt powerless and it was disgusting. He stood beside Rivaah, blankly staring at their sleeping son. Minutes later when Reyansh began stirring, he lurched forward and stood beside the little guy's bed to tend to his needs.

When Reyansh slowly opened his eyes, his Daddy was the first in his line of vision. He was almost about to smile huge when the words his father said of not wanting him came back flooding in his memories and his doe like eyes watered, tearing up quickly.

Kabir leaned down, grabbing his free hand that was lying on his stomach and raining kisses all over his face. "Quiet. Quiet, Champ. I'm sorry.", Kabir whispered as he gently but weightlessly laid his head against Reyansh's forehead.

"I know you don't want me. So you can go.", Reyansh mumbled as he attempted to free his hand that felt so safe in his Daddy's large, warmth cocooned hand.

"No baby. Daddy loves you. Daddy loves you alot.", Kabir whispered shakily as he kissed Reyansh's small red nose. He sat down on the stool and kept his one hand enveloped with his son's as the other hand soothingly caressed his head. "I'm so sorry.", He said kissing Reyansh's every knuckle gently.

"But you said you don't want me. No one wants me. Now I know why God wants to take me away.", He said averting his eyes and Rivaah gasped as her hands fled to cover her mouth. Kabir glanced back at her and noticed she was about to burst out in tears. He gestured her not to with a discreet shake of his head.

Unable to hold her tears anymore, she dashed out.

"Hey! How could you say that!", Kabir said, sadness visible in his voice. "Agreed God is selfish. He wants all the beautiful kids to himself. But this fight is between me and him! And your daddy is much more stronger that you can ever think. With the help of doctors, few medicines, Daddy and Reyansh will fight against God. And Daddy hates losing. So are you really going to give up just like that? Do you want me to lose in front of the God?", He pouted and Reyansh's fingers interlaced with his calloused ones before the little boy shook his head.

"Mommy will make the team stronger!", He added and Kabir gasped dramatically.

"Oh! How can I forget Mommy! She's the strongest of all! We are definitely taking her in our team. So it's settled. I mean, it's three against one! Of course we're winning!", Kabir chuckled as he freed his hand before raising it up for a high-five. Reyansh immediately met his hand halfway with a small slap.

"I'm still angry! You made Mommy cry. You need to apologise.", He reprimanded strictly. Kabir's eyes dropped down to stare at his twiddling fingers as he guiltily nodded.

"I know. I keep doing mistakes. Daddy is a whole mountain of mistakes!", He chuckled shaking his head, morning over his pathetic fate.

"No, Daddy. Mommy says no matter how much you try, mistakes happens as no one is perfect. You just need to realize, apologize if you've hurt someone because of them and try not to repeat them.", He said innocently.

"Your Mommy teaches you nice things."

"She does.", He nodded proudly.

"And you memorize everything she says?"

"No. She writes it down on a note and tells me to read it every morning until I memorize it completely.", He shrugged.

"Good boy.", Kabir pinched his nose. "And one more thing, forget what you heard. It may be hard but try to. Daddy was an idiot when he said that bullshit. No matter what, daddy will never leave your side. Daddy loves you loads. And from now on we all will live together. You, me and your Mommy.", Kabir softly murmured as Reyansh was slipping in a deep slumber. "I love you.", His voice quivered and he kissed Reyansh's forehead before quickly leaving the room.

He heard the soft sound of restless cries from the end of the corridor and followed the voice. There he saw Rivaah cradling her own knees and sobbing quietly in a self made cocoon. He slid down beside her, resting his head against the wall. He too cried, but it carried no voice. It was painful, but it didn't give any hint of pain to the person beside him. It was desperate to come out with heart wrenching screams, but stayed hidden to appear strong. His chest did vibrated softly, but he held his shoulders from shaking.

How easily life can turn your whole present upside down. The man who had no worry of the world until yesterday, now carried the weight of a family he had once abandoned unawaredly. But now, he'll leave no stone unturned to bring the happiness back in their lives. This is his family and he's responsible for them now.

"We need to go back, Kabir. You should move on. I know you are not the same anymore so I can't blame you for what you did in past. But that doesn't mean the scars will fade away. I'll be fine with Reyansh and this kid away from all of your lives. But God has given you another chance to live a new life. And you should do that."

"And I'll do exactly what you told me.", He answered back as he wiped his tears before sitting straight. "With you guys. Until Reyansh is completely fine, please stay here, Rivaah. You know that a child needs it's both parents. In this state, Reyansh deserves a healthy and happy environment. For once, let's pretend, that we're a family for our son. I promise, once my boy is all healthy and fine, I'll personally drop you off to airport.", He said calmly as he turned to face her.

"Kabir-"

"Please don't say no. Do you think I'll be at peace knowing my son is at the other corner of world, fighting a fatal disease? Please for once think from my point of view. From a father's point of view. I'm a father, Rivaah and my son is not healthy right now. I'll die here slowly without him around. Please try to understand. I'm begging you. I swear I'll be no longer a obstacle in your life once he's healthy again.", He pleaded grabbing her shivering hands and rubbing them slowly, sending warmth through the coldness.

"Okay. But only for Reyansh.", She whispered and he smiled with a nod of agreement.

"What is the treatment he's receiving for his cancer?"

"Can we talk about this later? Not now please.", She breathed out tiredly.

"Okay."

I'll make everything right.

Reyansh was discharged later at midnight. He dropped them off under the apartment building.

"Keep your stuff ready. I'll come to pick you up day after tomorrow. Okay?", He asked and she hesitantly nodded.

"Yes, sir?", Karthik tried to hold his yawn as he answered his boss's call.

"I'm sorry, Karthik, for calling you this late.", Kabir quickly apologized.

"It's completely fine, sir. Anything important?"

"Yup. You once mentioned to me about the property I had purchased in Dehradun prior to my accident?"

"Yes, Sir. A farmhouse it is."

"Is it close to metro area?"

"It is, sir. Just fifteen minutes drive."

"Good. I want it redecorate before the coming evening. Is that possible?"

"I'll get to it immediately, sir."

"Amazing. Also, get in contact with the nearby reputed hospitals and check their facilities for cancer patients. Choose the best one and fix my meeting with the Cancer specialist of that hospital. Clear?"

"Crystal."

"And, arrange a meeting with all the board members tomorrow. Aarav will handle the main branch from now onwards. I'll see into the Dehradun branch.", He said only to hear a shocked gasp.

"But the branch there is doing it's work efficiently, Sir."

"I know. But I don't want to change my decision anymore. You go to sleep now. Good night.", He whispered at last before disconnecting the call.

When he came home, his mother and father was already present in the living room.

"Where were you? I called you so many times since last five hours, Kabir. We were so worried!", Vihaan said as he came forward.

Soon his siblings too appeared and frowned at the unfolding drama before them.

"Reyansh has cancer.", Everyone except Aarav gasped.

"Wh-What!?", Ahana whispered in disbelief. That little life carries such a big problem? How can God be so cruel!?

"I'm moving out, Mom. Dad.", He acknowledged both of them. "Clearly I've made uncountable mistakes and it's time I correct them. I'll be handling Dehradun branch from now on and Aarav will looked into the Mumbai branch. My son needs me and I need both of them. Similarly, you all need time to yourself. Mom and dad, Ahana and Aarav deserves your attention. Ahana, you need to move on without remembering everything whenever you see me. With me around, it'll be difficult for you and I understand that. Aarav, you need to focus more on your career and life instead of trying to balance my broken one. Thank you, bro. I love you all and I'm sorry for the mistakes I did.", He said everything politely with a small sad smile on his face.

"I'm sorry, Bhai! Please don't leave. I'll never bring the topic-"

"No, pup.", She gasped at the nickname. His memories might be erased, but not the feelings. She immediately ran into his arms and hugged him tight. "I'm sorry, darling. I'm sorry that I ruined your relationship. But know that you deserve much more better than a man who moved on so quickly. I love you but you need some time to yourself. This bitterness needs to be removed completely and that'll happen only when I'm not around. But I promise I'll come back. Just not soon.", He said gently before kissing her head. She sobbed quietly in his arms. He opened his arm for his mother who stood crying silently. She slowly came in his embrace. Couple of minutes later, even his father and brother joined them.

As they stepped out of embrace everyone chuckled softly. After years of keeping everything inside, now the free smiles are spreading their wings.

"Is Reyansh fine though? It is not extreme right?" He personally had no idea how much extreme it is. But not to worry them, he shook his head with a small smile. "Nothing that treatment can't cure."

"That's good to hear.", Ahana sighed in relief.

"But is it necessary for you to leave?", His mother asked sadly.

"You all need to heal yourself without me. And I need to heal myself and my family. Once everything falls back at it's place, we'll return back.", He said and received nods of agreement.
