《The Healer | ✔》4. The Cruise Party.

"I'd climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I've broken
'Cause I need you to see
That you are the reason"
There was a bunch of applause raising in air when I was done. I smiled and bowed down slightly in politeness before mumbling a thank you and walked down the stage. Tiara came up to me when I stepped down the last stair.
"Was that for me?", She asked leaning close to me as her arms enclosed around my torso. I smiled, awkwardly, before slowly nodding.
"That was beautiful, Son.", Mom said walking up to me. I smiled shyly before discreetly pulling Tiara off me and hugging my Mom.
"I never knew you could sing so well, Bhai!", Aarav cheered and I grinned before pulling him for a hug.
"When did you come?", I asked surprised. He was still in flight when we boarded onto the cruise.
"Early enough to enjoy the show!", He shrugged raising his wine glass to toast. I grabbed a wine glass from nearby waiter' tray and made the toast.
"Cheers.", We chuckled before taking a sip.
"Okay enough of the brotherly reunion now. There are some important guests you need to meet.", Dad said patting my back. I nodded and immediately followed him.
I met the guests he was talking about but I was extremely bored and done with it. Many of them already had a judgement about me. I mean, okay I must have been a little rude and cold before. But c'mon, I must not be that bad that they are acting so surprised seeing this side of me.
It was really hard to stay polite when all they were commenting was how changed I am and how I should have been like this before. Was I that unapproachable? I'm sure not.
"Annoyed?", Aarav asked coming to my side. I groaned before taking a sip out of my glass and he laughed. I was now at one corner of hall. Done being the center of attention. I need some peace, away from everyone.
"How was it in London? All good between you and her?", I asked giving him a short glance.
"Hmm. All good.", He nodded.
"What's her name? If you don't mind me asking.", I added immediately to be on the safe side. I don't want to offend him in anyway. We're still working on our relationship.
"Her name, her name is Vanya.", He said with a small smile.
"Hmm hmm.", I hummed in reply.
"And where does she lives? Is she from India?", I asked slightly curious.
"Yup she's from India. She lives in Paddington with her sister.", He answered and I felt as if he was waiting for me to ask more questions. Among Ahana and Aarav, it always seems that Aarav is always eager to have a conversation with me.
"With her sister? What's her name?", I asked although I was least interested. But seeing him so excited made me continue. I think he loves talking about her and her family.
"Rivaah."
I froze for a moment as a feeling of discomfort surged through me. I think I've had enough of this wine. I kept the glass on window pane and nodded. My palms suddenly felt itchy and I took a deep breath to calm my racing heart.
"You okay, Bhai?", Aarav asked as he turned completely to check on me.
"Of course I'm fine. You were telling me about her. Go on.", I said not wanting him to stress more about me.

"About Rivaah?", He asked and the name kind of did an echo in my brain.
"Yeah, about Rivaah.", I said and the name sounded so beautiful in my own voice. It was unique yet familiar.
"She's a single mother.", He added and my brows raised up in surprise.
"What about her husband?", I asked. I don't know how the topic from his girlfriend traveled towards her sister and completely focused on it. But I wasn't complaining. In fact I was strangely interested to know more about her.
"They got separated. He accused her of cheating on him.", He said bitterly.
"Did she really?"
"Of course no, Bhai!", He spat out. His tone was of complete disgust and hatred. As if the mere thought is extremely absurd and stupid.
"You said she's a single mother? That's praiseworthy.", I said and he nodded with pride clearly shining in his eyes.
"You seem to be very close with her. Are you sure you're in love with her sister and not her?", I joked and he playfully glared at me before rolling his eyes.
"She's like my elder sister. I respect her. I adore her son.", He said.
"Her son? What's his name?", The moment I asked this question, Aarav was practically on his heels to feed me about the small kids. He looked so excited and eager to talk about the kid.
"His name is Reyansh. And he's the most adorable, sweet and mature kid I've ever seen. He's considerate, polite and respectful. He's just four year old, but his talks can even put an adult to shame. He's so creative and you should listen to him one day. He'll never let you get bore. He's always so excited and happy. And he-"
"Can I see him?", I asked cutting his blabber off. He sounded overly enthusiastic while talking about the Reyansh kid. So my curiosity to see him increased with ten folds.
"Of course, Bhai!", Aarav jumped slightly and I chuckled at his joyous face. He looked like a child on Christmas eager to unfold the gifts. I even saw a sheen layer of wetness in his eyes but that must be my imagination.
He fished out his phone before clumsily unlocking it. He came beside me and opened his gallery.
For next one hour Aarav and I were busy in watching Reyansh's videos since he was nine months old. He is so cute and adorable that one would never get bored watching him. I saw a video when he mumbled his first word and it was Daddy. Aarav looked over the moon as he recorded the small kid.
"Rivaah must have been heartbroken.", I said feeling pity for the lady. I didn't see her in videos but I'm sure she must have felt so sad after learning that her son's first word was Daddy and not Mom.
"She was right behind him at that time. And she literally stomped upstairs bawling her eyes out when Reyansh said that. I mean it was a huge betrayal from her son's part!", Aarav laughed shaking his head.
"Poor lady.", I chuckled.
"Bhai, I've a request to make.", He said as he closed his phone and shoved it back in his trousers pocket.
"Can I get those videos? I mean if it's not an invasion of privacy?", I asked. I really do want to see him again. He's just so charming and cute.
"Of course, Bhai!", He nodded immediately.
"So yeah you were talking about?", I asked probing him to continue his previous words.

"Oh right! Will you let me record a video of you for Reyansh?", He asked and I frowned.
"Why?"
"Uhm, he really wants to meet you."
"Me? He knows me?", I asked pointing towards myself.
"Uhm yeah. He does. Because of me. And he really wants to meet you." He said with a small, nervous smile.
"Oh okay then.", I shrugged shifting awkwardly on my seat. Why would a four year old want to meet me?
"Let's do this!", He cheered.
"Wait! Right now?", I asked a little shocked.
"Yeah. Later when will we have time?", He asked before he told a waiter to get his camera from his room.
"Here it is, Sir. Do you need anything else?", The waiter asked when he came back fifteen minutes later.
"No thank you.", I mumbled as Aarav was busy in switching his camera on.
"Okay it's on!", Aarav smiled as he turned the camera towards me. I seriously felt as if I was told to talk on a gun point.
"Wh-What should I say?", I asked sheepishly as I scratched my nape.
"Anything. Just say his name and he'll be happy.", Aarav mumbled, his brown eyes shone with happiness.
"Okay. Hey, Reyansh. I'm Kabir. I heard you want to meet me? Well just now Aarav showed me your videos and photos and believe me when I say you're the most cutest kid I've ever seen. And I would really love to meet you one day. I-", I stopped as Aarav mouthed something at me. "Huh?"
"Say I love you.", He whispered lowly.
"Oh okay. Also, I love you, Reyansh.", I smiled and nodded at Aarav.
"Say something more please.", He urged me to continue.
"Uhm-"
"Kabir, what are you doing here? I was finding you from last half hour. Your dad needs you to meet someone. Aarav you too. Get done with this childish things and come there.", Mom chastised us before turning around and walking away.
"Okay I think this is it? Goodbye, Reyansh. I hope we'll meet soon.", I grinned and waved at the camera before getting up.
"C'mon!"
"Yeah you go ahead. I'll follow you soon.", Aarav said with heavy voice.
"You okay?", I asked worriedly.
"I'm fine!", He smiled looking up at me. "Go ahead. I'll join you quickly.", He said with nod for me to leave. I smiled back and headed to where Mom and Dad stood waiting for us.
"He'll be so happy.", I heard Aarav whisper on my way to my parents.
Dad regarded me with a nod when I joined them. Not long after, Aarav too came and we were indulged in business related talks.
The party was slightly boring and slightly interesting. But I did enjoyed it. May be because I got to spend more time with my family and also a part of me was happy to know about that small adorable kid. He looks and talks like he can heal someone with just his words and lovable glances.
When we got back home, I asked Aarav about the videos and he immediately agreed. He even transferred the videos from his pendrive to my personal laptop.
"Thanks!", I smiled when he kept my MacBook down on the coffee table.
"No problem!", He grinned before bidding me goodnight and walking out.
I slept a little late that night. Hundreds of thoughts ran around my mind in a loop.
First was Tiara.
I need to end this with her as quickly as I can. I can't pretend to be in love with her anymore. I mean, I tried to have feelings for her but it was nothing more than protectiveness. I feel like I need to protect and see to her safety but not like a boyfriend, instead like a brother. I tried to think of her in that way since last five years but I can't do this anymore. And I need to put full stop to this soon. I can't play with her feelings anymore.
Next day, Karthik, my secretary toured me around the office. He made me familiar with all the important floors and their staff. How the work is carried out and every other important stuff.
"And this is your office.", He said as he opened a large mahogany door.
"This is huge.", I commented as I looked around.
"This wall looks new?", I asked as I walked up to the freshly painted wall that was to my right.
"Um yeah, Sir. It was a glass wall before.", He said and I noticed him shifting on his feet.
"I don't mind glass wall.", I shrugged as I studied the paintings hung across the newly made wall.
"It was not just a simple wall, Sir. It was a convertible glass wall. You could turn it to see through and still maintain privacy. Also it could make the noises from other side audible for you.", He said and I frowned.
"That must have been creepy for other person. Why did I had a wall like that in my office?", I asked as I wandered around the large space. I stepped up the pair of steps to have a closer look at my desk. It was clean and spotless.
"You wanted it, Sir.", He shrugged.
"And who used to work on the other side of the wall?", I asked as I stood near the glass wall, looking at the city. Mumbai looks beautiful from here.
"Your personal assistant. It was a store room at first but you turned it into office for her.", He said and I nodded.
"Where is she now?", I asked as I traced the wordings of huge billboard through the glass wall.
"She resigned long ago, Sir.", He answered and I sensed a hint of hesitation in his voice.
"Okay. I shall head home now. Everyone must be waiting for me at lunch.", I said before turning around. He nodded and walked to door, opening it for me.
"I hope we'll work hard together?", I asked when he opened car's door for me.
"Of course, Sir.", He nodded with a smile and I thanked him before settling inside.
After lunch I busied myself in re-reading some important documents, old deals and our statistics. I also tried to dig in more of our business mates. How our relationship is with them and with whom we've had slight arguments.
It was already night when Mom came to call me for dinner. I postponed rest of the work for next day and retired off to bed to sleep.
I had a sudden urge to see Reyansh so I opened my MacBook and directly went for the folder in which his videos and photos are stored. I connected it with projector and enjoyed the kid's adorableness and his slight mischiefs on the big screen.
I didn't realized when I fell asleep that night.
