"Sir, what do you think about it?" The marketing head asked Arjun after finishing the presentation.

"I'll have to think about it." Arjun stood up from his chair and left the meeting room.

He made a mental note to ask Manav for the soft copy of this meeting because he had not listened to a single word during the meeting. He was too busy thinking about her.

Three months.

Three fucking months.

That's how long it had been since she left. And he still hadn't gotten a hold of her.

A week after appointing Raman after Mayera, he returned empty handed. It was the first time that Raman had disappointed Arjun. But no matter how hard he tried, he got absolutely nothing. The employees file also had absolutely no document or ID proof of her. She went away without a single trace. It was like Mayera Sinha never existed.

How Mayera did it was beyond Arjun's imagination. How can someone hide themself so neatly that even Arjun Singhania couldn't find them?

Every minute without her was like a century. A century filled with sorrow and emptiness that he had to endure.

He made himself a drink. Recently, alcohol has become a constant in his life. He sipped from the glass, slowly looking at the moon as it shone brightly in the night sky, unknown of the fact that sitting hundred kilometers away, she was also staring at the same moon from her bedroom.

Mayera still remembered the day when her father, the most reputed businessman of India, Mr Tejas Singh Oberoi, gave into her zidd to send her to learn work in the real world, without the influence of her surname before she took over her father's business.

But Tejas had one condition. She'd work in the company that he chooses for her. So he called up an old friend, Mr Dev Singhania, and asked for a favour.

Dev told Tejas that his son, Arjun's assistant had resigned and will be needing one as soon as he returns from abroad. It was a win-win situation for both Tejas and Mayera. Tejas will have his daughter under the eyes of his trusted friend, and Mayera will be working under a boss who knows nothing about her being an Oberoi.

Mayera went to Delhi and shifted into an apartment that her father found for her that was safe enough for her, and not too lavish to raise questions. Tejas had also appointed two guards to stay around her, wherever she went. He couldn't let any string lose when it came to the safety of his princess.

She met Dev Singhania and instantly liked him. He gave her the same vibe that her father, Tejas, gave her. And her fondness for her Dev Uncle increased when he promised to not mention anything to Arjun about her family.

Dev personally meddled into the formalities so that she doesn't have to submit any document of hers. They couldn't take any chance of anyone finding out about her. Anyone recognising her from face was a very unlikely thing because Tejas Oberoi had always kept the media away from his children. He didn't want the paparazzi following them always. Even her social media accounts were very private, but she deactivated them before coming to Delhi, just to be safe.

It was genuinely hard for Mayera to adjust into her new lifestyle in the beginning. She was used to having luxurious cars at her disposal, bodyguards following her. But the most difficult one was not shopping every week. Because she was determined to become independent, this also meant leaving behind all her credit cards that her father gave her. And her salary wasn't enough to buy her her favorite designer stuff, which was fine. Because even if she was somehow able to buy them, she wouldn't have been able to use them. Because a personal assistant cannot be seen wearing Louis Vuitton dresses and Gucci heels.

The day when Arjun had walked in while she was talking to Giraffe on video call, she got so scared that he might have seen his face and will recognise him when he'll come for the meeting.

Well, the meeting was a different story all together. She had told Giraffe how she had fallen in love with her boss and he was not at all thrilled about that. In fact, he had thrown a fit asking her if she was sure that he was good enough for her. Even after repeating it ten times that it was just one-sided and she didn't know anything about his feelings, Giraffe still behaved the way he behaved in the meeting.

It was already hard for Mayera to pretend as if she didn't know Kabir at all when they both practically shared their parents, and Giraffe made it even harder by adding his own drama.

He was a rather calm person when it came to work, respecting and understanding everyone's point of view. But that day, he didn't go to the Singhania Corporation as a businessman, he went there as a brother to judge the man his sister had fallen in love with. Indirectly insulting Arjun was a part of his plan to see how he would react, but Mayera understood what he was trying to do and intervened.

Later, Giraffe had gotten a thirty minute lecture from his sister on how he had behaved childishly and mixed his personal and professional life when she went to drop him to the airport.

After coming back suddenly from Delhi, Giraffe had asked her several times if something happened there that forced her to come back, but she only told him that she realised that Arjun will never love him as he didn't believe in love at all and that she didn't want to stress Dad anymore by staying away. She had learnt everything she needed to and now she was ready to start work at her own company. Giraffe was a little sceptical but seemed to buy her story eventually. Her parents, Tejas and Nandita, were too happy that their beloved daughter was back and didn't question her much about her sudden arrival.

She had spent the last three months focusing entirely on her work. Her brain had already been sidetracked once, she couldn't afford it to happen twice.

She just cared about her work now. Or at least she did a damn good job pretending that she only cared about her work.
