Different people have different meanings of life. For some, life meant having fun. For others, it was finding and giving love. For Arjun, it was his work and just his work.

It might sound boring for some people, but not for him. Office was his solace.

"Can I ever find you not working?" Veer asked Arjun while standing at his office door.

"What do you want?" Arjun frowned.

"You know, with this grumpy attitude of yours, sometimes I wonder why I'm still friends with you?"

"Because you've got no one else apart from me." Arjun retorted.

"That's not true! I've your beautiful assistant, Mayera. If you want me to go, I'll go and hang out with her. I'm sure she won't say no. After all, we're good friends." Veer had a smug look on his face.

An uncertain emotion took over Arjun's being.

Arjun didn't want Mayera to hang out with Veer.

"Where do you want to go?" Arjun asked Veer, closing his file.

"Our usual place," Veer exclaimed.

Forty-five minutes later, they were seated in the VIP section of one of the most famous nightclubs in New Delhi.

A waitress served them their cocktails and gave them a formal smile."Let me know if you need anything else."

She got a nod from Veer and walked out.

Arjun sipped his drink and felt his throat burning as the drink made its way through it.

"Your mom called me today." Veer started the conversation.

"Don't tell me she has found another girl for me and wants you to convince me to meet her."

"Can you blame her? She's an Indian mother with a 27 year old successful son." Veer laughed.

"I am so tired of this marriage shit. Why doesn't she understand that I don't want to get married. Not now. Not ever." Arjun's voice got a little loud.

"Arjun, just because that bitch-of-a-girl broke your heart that doesn't mean that you'll never give love another chance. Your mother cares for you and just wants to see you happy."

At the mention of that girl, Arjun's hold strengthened on his glass.

"I am happy." Arjun said without looking at Veer.

"Oh really? Spending 18 hours in the office is being happy?" Veer questioned

"Work gives me happiness."

"Work gives you distraction. An escape tunnel from the reality of your life. Why can't you just accept the fact that you're lonely and crave love?" Veer shouted at Arjun.

Arjun's anger skyrocketed, "You know what! Even I wanted a family. But she broke all my dreams and no matter how much I want it, I cannot trust anyone ever again."

"Yes, because you don't want to. You're just running away from your pain. It'll never let you heal.

It's been years since she left you. Tell me, in these years, did you even cry once? To move on, you need to accept that pain, feel it and then finally let it go. " Veer's tone was very calm.

Arjun stayed quiet. His mind was clouded with memories of the past.

Suddenly, a text message on Veer's phone broke the silence.

Veer read the message and looked at Arjun, "I'm sorry, but I've to go. A fight broke out between my head chef and the manager in my Delhi restaurant."

"How will you go?" Arjun asked remembering that Veer left his car at Arjun's office.

"I'll take a cab, and have my car picked up from your office." Veer gulped his drink in one go and rushed out of the club.

Even after Veer left, Arjun's mind was still filled with questions and uncertainties.

Why did all these things happen to him?

Is he bottling things up?

Should he give love another chance?

But what if the same thing happens again to him?

All these things became too much to handle and he needed to shut his brain off.

So Arjun ordered five vodka shots.

It was a little past midnight when Mayera's phone rang, disrupting her peaceful sleep.

Arjun's name shined on her screen.

Why was he calling her at this hour?

"Hello," She said, clearing her throat.

"Is this Mayera?" An unknown voice asked her.

She moved her phone away from her ear to check the caller again. It was Arjun's call.

"Yes" She brought the phone back to her ear and replied hesitantly.

"Do you know Arjun Singhania?"

"Yes, he is my boss."

"Ma'am, Mr Singhania is at the club Blue Moon. He drank too much and is not in a position to get himself home. I am the manager of the club, and I found your number on his phone on the speed dial, so can you please come and get him?"

Mayera's mind shut off for a minute. Arjun passed out in a club. That is so unlike him.

"Yeah, sure. I'll be there in half an hour."

She hurriedly changed into a pair of black denim and grey shirt. Booking a cab, she rushed out of her home.

It took less than thirty minutes for Mayera to reach the club. There, she found her boss in a disheveled condition. Getting some help from two of the waiters of the club, she somehow managed to get him in the passenger seat of his car and herself got into the driver's seat.

She found the keys of the car in his pocket.

"Where are we going?" Arjun slurred.

"Home" Mayera simply replied, driving the car towards Arjun's apartment.

She was really pissed at him. How could he drink so irresponsibly? What if she didn't pick up the phone? What if no one came to get him?

"Nooo, I don't want to go home." He whined like a little kid.

Never in her wildest dreams had Mayera thought that she'd see her grumpy, arrogant boss, drunk out of his wits, complaining about not going home.

The whole ride Arjun tried to convince Mayera to take him someplace fun, but she just ignored him.

Reaching his home, she honked at the watchman to open the gate. Arjun didn't live with his parents. He had a cozy five bedroom bungalow in a posh neighborhood of New Delhi.

She drove the car inside after the watchman opened the gate. She came out and walked towards Arjun's car door. She opened it and then leaned in to open his seat belt. Her heartbeat fastened a little as their proximity increased. Then carefully taking his hand, she pulled his body out of the car.

Arjun wrapped his arm around her waist and they started walking inside the mansion. Mayera carefully took every step, trying to make sure Arjun didn't fall down due to his dizziness.

After reaching his room, Mayera lightly threw his body on his bed. She then kneeled down and took off his shoes along with his socks.

"Tum gussa ho mujhse?" Arjun sadly asked her.

She again ignored him and started to move away. But he got a hold of her hand and pulled her towards her. She fell on top of his lying body.

"Batao naa, are you angry?" He asked while he secured her to him by holding her waist.

Mayera could smell him reeking of alcohol, but couldn't find herself to be disgusted by it.

"Nahi," She whispered.

"Toh mujhse baat kyu nahi kar rahi ho?" He tucked her hair behind her ear.

She stayed quiet.

"Please don't stop talking to me. I love hearing your voice."

Mayera couldn't help but blush at his words.

"You're so beautiful." He swiped his fingers over her red cheeks and smiled faintly.

Then exhaustion took over him and his eyes started to droop down.

"You're beautiful" He whispered again before his eyes shut down completely and he passed out, with her in his arms.

Mayera took a moment to admire the handsome man in front of her eyes. His long hair falling on his forehead, his sharp nose, his slightly pink lips, and that light beard just made him so irresistible. She had a strong desire to lean in and kiss every part of his face, but she controlled herself.

She gently moved his arms and got away from his grip. She took the quilt and threw it over his giant body. Giving him one last glance, she walked out of his home.
