Mayera looked up at the skyscraper in front of her and a small smile graced her lips.
The moment she'd been waiting for was finally here.
Walking inside the building, the first thing she saw was the giant reception, and behind that a big logo of the company along with the name, SINGHANIA CORPORATIONS.
"Good morning, I am Mayera Sinha. I was appointed as the new assistant of the CEO." She greeted the lady behind the reception.
"Hello, Mayera. I am Kritika Rajpal. Just give me a moment." She gave her a soft smile and started to type something on her laptop.
"Yes, I see it here. I must warn you, our CEO is not an easy man to please."
"I'll try my best."
"Off you go then. 25th floor. Elevators are on the right." She pointed her forefinger towards the elevators.
"Thank you."
It took her a few minutes to reach her destination, the elevator stopped at almost every floor.
As soon as the elevator doors opened at her floor, she was welcomed by a heavily pregnant lady.
"Mayera Sinha?" She raised her eyebrow.
"Yes," I nodded.
"I am Kajal. I am the ex-assistant of the CEO. You'd be replacing me from today. I will stay with you the whole day and help you get a hold around stuff here." She smiled and started leading her in the left direction.
"Thank you. I really appreciate it."
As they walked, Mayera noticed that there were no other employees around them.
"Why is this floor empty?"
"This floor is exclusively for the CEO and his assistant. So there will be no one else here except for you and Mr Singhania."

They reached a brown gate and Kajal pushed it open.
"This is your office."
Mayera looked around the room and saw that the table was pushed against the wall. There were a few shelves over the table, some fresh notepads and an Apple computer on the table. It had a cozy and warm vibe to it.
And lastly, there was a huge window on the left with a few indoor plants around them.
"Do you like it?" Kajal asked.
"I love it." She genuinely smiled.
"Awesome. You can decorate it any way you like. All the important files that you'll be needing are on the shelves and these gadgets are for your official use." Kajal informed Mayera pointing at the laptop and iPad on the table, and continued,"Mr Singhania arrives at sharp 10 every morning, so you'll have to make sure you arrive earlier than him. Early enough to make a cup of coffee because he needs his coffee as soon as he steps inside his office. If you're late, he'll be cranky all day and you'll have to deal with that."
Mayera chuckled a little,"Okay, I'll keep his coffee ready before he steps in."
"Which also includes today. It's 9:55 AM." Kajal smirked.
"Oh, shit. Where do I make coffee? And how does he like his coffee?" Mayera hurriedly asked.
"Black, with one cube of sugar and the coffee maker is at the end of the corridor."
Mayera made a run for the end of the corridor. There she found a coffee maker, microwave and a few chairs lying around. She looked for coffee and sugar and started making her first coffee for her boss.
Exactly at 10, she heard the elevator ping and saw a man in an Armani suit walking out. From where Mayera was standing, she could only see his back as he walked away from her, into a room with a huge black door.

Calming her nerves, Mayera started walking in the same direction. When she reached those black doors, she took a deep breath and banged her fist on them.
"Come in," A strong voice came from behind the door.
She slowly pushed the door open and looked inside. Arjun Singhania was sitting on his chair. A few files were open in front of him and he held a black pen in his left hand.
Is he lefty? She thought.
"Kajal, where are the files of the Prism Project?" Arjun asked without taking his eyes off the file in front of him.
"Umm, I've to check. I'll bring it to you as soon as I find it." Mayera answered him, while taking careful steps towards him.
His eyes, his big black eyes, shot up as soon as those words left her mouth. And her heart skipped a beat. Sure, she'd seen his pictures online and knew how extremely handsome he was, but his pictures didn't do justice to him.
Mayera saw confusion cloud his face, "You're not Kajal!"
"I know." She tried her best not to be intimidated by his extremely good looks, and kept his coffee on his table.
"Who are you?" Arjun raised his eyebrow.
"I'm Mayera Sinha. I'm your new assistant since Kajal has resigned."
"But I don't remember hiring you." He had kept his pen down and, now she had his undivided attention.
"That's cause you didn't hire me. Mr Dev Singhania, your father hired me while you were in London last week."
Arjun kept looking at Mayera for a few seconds, making her shift her weight from one leg to another in nervousness.
"Very well, Ms Sinha. I hope someone must have shown you to your office and given you the basic induction here." He leaned back on his chair.
"Yes, Kajal is here with me today."
He nodded, "Now that you'll be working with me, you must understand that I'm a workaholic and a perfectionist. I don't tolerate any tardiness. Are we clear?"
"Absolutely, sir. I will try my best to be perfect in my job and to never let you down." She said with determination in her voice.
"Welcome to Singhania Corporations, Ms Sinha." He said to her with no smile on his lips, whatsoever.
