Yesterday went well having Christmas at Holly's parents. It was our first time but Ethan and Ophalia have been great grandparents to Nicolas over the last year. It is mind blowing they have energy like they do and keep up with him easily, even now that he is basically back to this old self before the cancer.

Today though is a day Nicolas has been waiting for the last week that Jewels called me up when I was at work. All of the nurses and other doctors on the floor are hosting a surprise baby shower for Holly. Nicolas over heard and even has helped Jewels on what to buy because between Holly, Nicolas, and myself has bought things for Eve.

Holly was in tears looking at the small crib mobile last night that Ophalia got for our little girl. I can't wait to see how she is today at the shower and all those gifts for Eve.

The only issue is trying to get Holly to go to the hospital and up to the pediatric floor without panicking out. Nicolas is even stumped on what to say to her, because neither of us want to worry her but we have to get her there somehow without it being obvious.

Jewels sends a text to my phone saying it's time to go over to the hosptial because everything is calm with it being after dinner hours.

I put my shoes on by the front door and walk in the living room to see Holly on the couch with Nicolas reading a book.

"Who wants to run and get some for dessert?" I ask them.

Nicolas closes the book and smirks with his back to Holly.

"You know I'm game." Holly huffs trying to get up. I help her up and she walks to the bedroom to change clothes since she refuses to go out in baggy clothing even though she is comfortable.

"Is it time?" Nicolas whispers and I nod my head.

We are on the road within ten minutes and I start to sweat hoping to pull this off.

"I need to walk in and drop some things off for Dr. Moore."

"I thought you turned in the insurance card last month?" Holly looks at me weird.

Ha! I forgot that and can easily pull it off even though I did tend to that last month.

"It slipped my mind." I park the car.

"Well come on Nicolas. We need to make sure he turns it in." Holly laughs and I thank the stars she isn't mad.

We get on the elevator and Nicolas gets her attention and she never sees when I hit the number for the pediatric floor below the oncology floor.

The doors open and everyone yells surprise. Since we used the providers elevator and I had got a sneak text in to Jewels we were coming up.

"It's your baby shower time." Jewels pulls a surprised Holly out of the elevator.

"Come on you two. Your staying with Tony. Us ladies need the three of you boys." Jewels turns her head calling to us.

Nicolas looks at me. "We are in trouble aren't we Dad?"

I laugh. "I think so but sounds like Tony is in trouble with us."

"Only doing it for Mama and Eve." Nicolas whispers her name.

I smirk and nod my head. We follow in behind.

"Up first before gifts are some games! Holly, you take a chair right here to where you get first view. The rest of us will be able to see and begin serving up the baby food. You three get to sit at this table." Jewels points as another doctor is doing the talking.

Baby food? Oh no!

We sit down and Nicolas gulps. "Only for Mama. Only for Mama." He whispers.

"Don't worry, Champ they aren't that bad. Just think you have ate it before." Toyn smirks.

"Doesn't help now." Nicolas whispers making everyone laugh as they all heard him that time.

Each time they place little containers in front of us with one spoon full. The three of us go about guessing what it is. Holly has had such a huge laughing fit she is wheezing.

The last container I shake my head. "Nope I am not trying that one, it stinks and no doubt peas."

"No fair Jack that's cheating take a little taste. I did try the fruit ones at least. Do it and I'll give you some of this brownie." Holly teases me.

"I'll be honest the peaches weren't bad, but this just looks awful and the smell makes it repulsive." I laugh.

"Taste repulsive too. It just burnt the taste buds off my tongue. That gunk is going to be awful coming out no wonder diapers are rough." Tony gags, making all the girls laugh.

I look over at Nicolas, his is done.

He leans over. "Hold your breath it helps, but Uncle Tony is right. The apples and peaches weren't bad though."

Holly brings over a piece of brownie for Nicolas and holds another plate in her hand.

If my son can do can I. I take the bite and I swear it sticks to my tongue. That is awful! I vow here and now to never put poor Eve through this experience. That crap is for the birds and even they wouldn't touch it no doubt.

Holly sits down a plate in front of me but I don't want to ruin the taste of a perfectly delicious brownie by that baby food.

Letting out a little cough seems to intensify the awful taste.

Jewels walks over with three cups and we all gulp it down. At least the apple juice gets the flavor out. No wonder kids cry with peas.

Thankfully that is over and then Holly is up for the games. All the girls try to guess how round her bump is, which Massie is the one with that answer.

I watch as she is pampered and showered with affection from all the ladies. Nicolas smiles watching Holly closely.

Holly pulls Nicolas and I both over when it comes time to open the gifts, wanting us to all experience it. There is so many things for the first year of Eve's life that we are so grateful for.

It shocks me when they hand a bag to Nicolas and myself.

"Every Daddy and big brother need a little something too." Jewels smiles and everyone agrees.

Nicolas pulls out his own little camera and on the gift card it reads. 'Take many pictures and have them taken of you with your sister and family. Fill the scrapbook full of memories to always remember.'

I open mine and there is a shirt with the world's best dad written on the front. I laugh and thank them all.

"There is still much to have fun with!" Massie walks up clapping her hands and then hugs Nicolas whispering in his ear. His smile grows more and more.

One or two things could happen either really good or Tony and I are in trouble.
