Work lasted just a little longer than orginially planned but my customer had a wiggling little one making the shoots a little harder to get because with them paying you want the best you can get. Walking in the house though was nice to see Holly's parents made it.

Although, it was hard to steam a couple of laughs because of the way Nicolas would react. I could tell he was nervous but he has done great with his grandparents. Even though Ophalia's energy is equivalent with Tony's on the days he drinks way to much caffiene.

"So I hear that Holly helped out Nicolas is how your both met?" Ethan asks the question I have been waiting on him too all evening.

"Yes. Nicolas was basically comatosed and the oncologist that was on his case before she came in for rounds with the interns under Dr. Marshall, he was fading and quickly. Holly came in and just seem to know what he needed done to help him. Dr. Marshall agreed with her and somehow she got put on his case. I knew that she was an intern and it was her first solo case but I am very grateful for her."

Ethan smiles. "Holly has never been scared to call someone out especially if it is to help someone else."

"I have learned that. She is serious when it comes to helping and doing her job. If it wasn't for her Nicolas wouldn't be here today."

"I am glad she didn't listen to me and followed her heart. I can see how happy she is with the both of you. It is thanks to you that both of my girls are happy."

"Dinner is ready." Holly calls out from the kitchen, while Ophalia is placing things on the table.

Nicolas gets up and goes to wash his hands and then sits at the table. I help make his plate while Holly grabs drinks for everyone.

We all sit down and talk lightly about the wedding while we eat. Nicolas beams when we talk about the wedding, bouncing some in his seat.

A phone starts going off and Holly jumps up running to her purse. I can hear when she answers and her tone takes a professional sound. Next thing I know, Holly runs to down the hall and into the room. I get up and follow her.

"Everything okay snowflake?"

"No it's not. I have to go in to the hospital now. I have a patient in critical state and I have to be there." She rushes out throwing her shoes on.

Holly runs out and kisses Nicolas's head and then me real quick before she waves to her parents grabbing her bag. I watch her get in her car and leave.

I walk back to the table and Nicolas looks up.

"I hope Mom can help them." He whispers.

"She will buddy." I rub his back and he goes back to eating.

This is the first time that Holly has had to run out on a call. She had warned me that it could happen at times and I know she needs to be there and help her patients.

"There are some patients that you have to be the one to tend to and no other doctor can because there is a set course of treatment that only you can provide." Ethan speaks up.

"Holly mentioned you were a doctor."

"I was a primary care. So I seen many different things but I was never into a specific field since I enjoyed it all." Ethan nods.

"Made for some long work days at times though because you had to over see the patients getting put into the care of a specialist which took time." Ophalia laughs.

"What is the school like to become a doctor?" Nicolas pipes up.

"Well depends on the type of doctor you want to be some specialities will be longer to go more in depth. Mainly you will go through college and get the basic courses before you start onto the medical courses. Then there is many test to take and go through that you have to pass to be accepted into an internship where you work as a provider under a experinced doctor to get hands on learning."

"Is it more than if I was going into construction?" Nicolas looks at him curious.

Ethan chuckles. "Yeah little dude it is definitely more schooling than it would be if you went for construction."

Nicolas hums a little and finishes his food.

"Is that something you like to do with building things?" Ethan asks Nicolas.

"I really do. After I help Daddy clean up I can show you some of my stuff." Nicolas smiles.

"Oh sweetie, you men go ahead. I will get all of this cleaned up and dishes done." Ophalia chimes.

"I couldn't let you do it all. Please let me help." I stand and start to gather the finished plates.

"Nonsense, I enjoy cleaning up after meals. You men go have some fun with Nicolas and I will join you in a bit." She smiles and shoos us away.

Nicolas walks to his room and Ethan joins him with me trailing behind. I listen and watch as Nicolas is in his own little world explaining everything to Ethan, who nods and smiles at him.

I walk back to the kitchen and Ophalia is placing things in the dishwasher and humming along to herself.

"Are you sure I can't help? They are in their own little worlds." I laugh.

"Sure if you really want to but I was serious about enjoying this." She laughs.

I help finish up the cleaning and Ethan walks out of the room grinning like crazy.

"That is one smart young man in there. Most of the talk went over my head but I learned alot from him with how to building things." Ethan laughs.

"Never to old to learn dear." Ophalia laughs and I join in.

"I honestly don't know where he gets that from but it is something he has enjoyed since a toddler with just building all types of things. Holly and Jewels got him building puzzles that are shapes."

"Oh I have seen those in the stores. They don't even look like puzzles but they are cute." She laughs .

"My thoughts exactly." I chuckle.

Ophalia and Ethan stay for a few more minutes before bidding us a good evening. It is late and I hadn't heard from Holly yet, but I am hoping it means she is being able to help her patient.

Nicolas comes out of his room from playing an hour later. The last time I checked in on him, I could tell he was slowing down but I don't say anything until he is ready. I help him ready for bed and close his door too.

Sitting on the couch, I turn the tv on to a random movie until Holly gets back home. It feels all types of wrong to be sleeping without her in bed with me now.
