《Christmas Wish (Completed)》Chapter 25

My phone dings and it is Mom letting me know that the Christmas party for us will be tonight. Along with Jewels number is attached, and I hear her groan when she reads the message from her phone.

"I thought it was still a day away." She lowers her head.

"Apparently we got the dates wrong to what Mom is wanting. At least I shopped yesterday and didn't wait until after work today since now the party is a day early." I sigh.

The CT scans just come in with the results and I read over them. A smile graces my face because this is wonderful news.

"Well my shift just finished and I have spoke with the night nurses. I'll head on out because I have to pick up a few things still and then rush to get dressed." Jewels sighs and grabs her purse.

"I will see you there in just a bit." I grimace.

Jewels leaves out and I walk to Nicolas's room and knock on the door.

"Hey little man." I smile after closing the door.

"Hey Holly. Coming to say goodnight?" Nicolas smiles.

"Yes but also the results are in from your scan from earlier today." I sit on the bed and Jack stands on the opposite side of Nicolas.

"We will not be needing to do any more chemo. This scan came back much better than the first ones that was done before the chemo and the transplant. Which means your blood work has been showing the right signs in your counts becoming better."

Nicolas and Jack hug each other and then pull me into one with them. My heart burst for joy that he is on the right path to being healthy again.

We pull away and I smile to them. "You guys have a nice relaxing night for me. I have to go get ready for my parents Christmas party with Jewels."

"I thought that wasn't until tomorrow night?" Jack laughs.

"Jewels and I got the wrong date we are guessing." I laugh a little.

I clock out and head out to my car. Getting home is quick and I rush inside taking the shortest shower of my life and throwing on an actual dress. I do a little makeup and it feels so foreign to me but it is something I do every year for our little party. It will only be my parents, Jewels and I there but still we like to make it nice.

The drive to their house takes a little time with them living a few towns over but I still make it with five minutes to spare on when Mom asked us to be here by for dinner. Jewels is already here and grabbing gift bags from her car.

I get out and pick up the packages I had wrapped for them and we walk up to the door. Mom throws the door open and kisses our cheeks.

"My baby girls are home."

"Hi, Mama." I smile.

We go to the living room and Mom has us sit down. We pass out each others gifts and open them up first before ever eating. They love the things I got for them. Jewels got me a new watch that is fancy looking in silver.

"Now we can go eat." Mom smiles and we help to put the food on the table.

"This looks delicious Mom." My mouth waters at the smells.

Jewels and I listen to all the tales from their recent travels. One day I hope to travel and see the world, but first I want to work and help people.

"So Holly, any guys you are seeing?" Mom pipes up, while we are clearing the table. "I didn't get to have any girl chat with you at Thanksgiving since you were working."

"She has absoutely no time to be frolicking with men. Those boards are coming up and she won't have focus if all she can think about is some guy." Dad speaks up from his chair.

"I can still date and focus on the boards Dad." I sigh.

"Not the smartest thing to do." Dad shakes his head. "I didn't date until after my boards and that is when I met your mother."

"That is great Dad, I am glad it worked for you that way. At the moment, I am not officially dating." I get cut off.

"You won't date. Not until after the boards." Dad stands from the table.

"I am a grown woman and will date if I want too. Along with whoever I want to date." I whisper.

"Your not Holly Calista!" Mom exclaims shocking me and almost makes me drop the plate.

"Not what?" I look at her confused.

"You fell for a patient." She looks at me.

"I am in pediatrics Mom so no I didn't fall for a patient." I deadpan and try to back out of this conversation.

"Still then the patients father. Is it the one that Jewels brought food for when it was Thanskgiving?" Dad looks to me.

I nod my head. Both of my parents let out long sighs.

"That is how you two met though. Mom was your patient before you found out she was a nurse in the hospital." Jewels comes to my rescue.

Mom and Dad soften their looks towards me.

"I am being careful and nothing to jearpordize my career. I know you both are looking out for me but I know what I want too." I whisper.

"We just don't want to see you hurt again either. You have worked hard to get where you are in your life Holly." Mom pulls me in for a hug.

The last break up was messy but I wasn't tore up like they alway seem to believe I was for some reason.

I give Jewels a hug and let her know I will see her at work tomorrow. Right now, I just honestly want to get out and go home. It is not often that my parents and I bicker but this made me feel like a child that was just in the wrong when I know I'm not.

Getting in my car, I drive all the way home. My mind still going over how Christmas dinner went and then took a major turn. Putting my car in park, I look around me and notice I am in my spot at the hospital.

I laugh to myself, while I was watching my driving I didn't stop and think of going home but instead had Jack and Nicolas on my mind. Needing some happiness back in my life that only they can bring.

Within no time I am knocking on their door and wait until I hear Jack announce that I can enter.
