Nicolas's first stir caused me to jump up and watch him closely. Hoping and wishing he will wake up soon. Just that one slight stir and moving positions is more than he has done in the last day.

Dr. Calista came in to check him, she even got excited about the news and it was not just to cheer me up. It may have been risky to many people for me trusting her while she is still in her intern time, but it was the best thing I have done so far. Also so much has been done by her than the other actually practicing doctors that are way beyond her years.

I have spoke with Tony and he said he would be by this afternoon after the last shoot is done. Tony was happy to hear and said it is great that finally a doctor is taking it seriously and helping Nicolas, not caring if she was done with schooling or not.

"Daddy." Nicolas whispers.

I jump from the chair and fall to my knees beside his bed, looking at his small face.

"Nicolas? I am right here, son." I whisper back.

His eyes slowly flutter open and his green eyes meet mine. I kiss his forehead and push the call button to the nurses station, quickly. My hands scoop him up from the bed and I stand to hold him, before sitting on the bed.

"Why is my hair wet?" Nicolas rubs his short hair on his forehead.

I chuckle and wipe my eyes, not even realizing that I was crying myself. Then wipe his hair off more.

A knock sounds on the door, before Dr. Calista walks in. She smiles so wide when she sees Nicolas is awake.

"Hey there little man. I am Dr. Calista, but you can call me Holly." She sits on the foot of the bed.

"Your new, but so nice." Nicolas smiles some.

"Can you tell me how you're feeling?" She asks him, with a glance to his monitors.

"Hungry some I think, my tummy is light."

She laughs some with his face scrunching up.

"We can get you some jello. What color is your favorite?"

"Blue!" Nicolas actually bounces some in my lap.

"I think we got that flavor for sure. Can I check a few things before I go hunt down some blue jello?"

Nicolas nods and I go to stand with him but Dr. Calista puts her hands out.

"You can hold him while, I check his vitals. This is the best thing you can do right now is holding your son." She smiles.

Dr. Calista talks with Nicolas about everything she wants to do and he lets her without flinching. He finds it fun when she said it is a game to follow her small light with his eyes only, but I know it is important for her in checking over his health.

You would think she has been around children her entire life with how she talks with him through it all. It amazes me with how everything is, and Nicolas is currently even laughing while squeezing her fingers with her acting like he is so strong.

"Okay, well I am going to keep a close watch on you and those muscles little man. How about I go do that hunt for you?" She stands from the bed.

"Yes, please." Nicolas smiles, resting back against my chest.

Dr. Calista walks out of the room and I wrap my arms around my son once more.

"Daddy, you don't get mushy." Nicolas tries to pry my arms open.

I laugh and let him go. Moving to stand and place him back on the bed. I pull the chair up next to him and sit.

"Do you want to watch some tv buddy?"

"Scooby-Doo!" Nicolas smiles.

"Let's see if it is on." I chuckle and flip the tv on and sure enough it is on.

I send a quick text to Tony letting him know that Nicolas is awake. Tony replies back right away that he is beyond relieved and bringing in some dinner and something special within the next few minutes.

Dr. Calista walks back in with a spoon and jello. "I got you two." She smiles.

"Oh, is that scooby-doo?" She asks, handing him the jello and opening the first one for him. Nicolas nods, as he takes a bite of the jello.

"Easy there little man." She laughs. "I can get you more, as long as this doesn't hurt that tummy of yours." She stands by his bedside opposite of me, watching him.

"This is the best show. You know we got some holidays coming up quickly. Have you made a list out to Santa yet?" She talks to Nicolas.

"Not yet, we still have Halloween coming up. I thought it would be to early for Santa."

"What? No way, it is never to early for Santa and it is good to get that head start so he can read your list many times." She laughs some with Nicolas.

I watch as they communicate and she looks to me several times with a soft smile.

Tony walks in and he has his arms full. He lays it down on the couch and hands me a container of food, then grabs a bag and walks to Nicolas.

"Hey Champ! How are you feeling?" Tony stands by me.

"Uncle Tony, I was hungry and Holly got me blue jello, but I am sleepy some not like before though." Nicolas smiles.

"That is so good. I got you something. It was right there in the store when I was buying some early Christmas gifts and this one can't wait." Tony holds the bag out.

"What is it Uncle Tony." Nicolas smiles and takes the bag.

"You just have to see Champ."

Nicolas lets out a small sound and pulls out a scooby-doo stuffed toy. It makes me smile ten fold seeing him so happy.

My eyes wonder to Dr. Calista who is standing off to the side, and walks to the door. I get up and stop her before she leaves.

"Thank you." I whisper.

"I am just glad to see him awake and so alert. You have a bright little man on your hands. I will come back in a little bit to check on him again and to speak with you on the next steps that we will need to take." She smiles softly, before opening that door and walking out.

I turn and see Nicolas, talking with Tony as they sit on his hospital bed. This means so much to me on what has happened today and right now none of this would have been possibly if it wasn't for Dr. Calista. She has been more than what I could have ever wished for and would love to believe it was my Isabel watching over and helping us.
