《My Morphine [Wade Wilson]》[3]

I sat at the table in the dining area and listened to the guys all tell stories about what happened to lead them here, and learned that they were part of some kind of team X, or something. They all also told me about how they came to know that they were mutants. I think James' was the saddest story I had heard. He patted my shoulder when I told everyone about how I found out, and what had happened when I told my parents.
"We came from a different time, it was much worse back then to be something different." James told me.
I nodded. "i'm sorry that it happened the way it did." He nodded and went back to his drink. "Ya know," I began. "When I woke up this morning, I never would have thought I would be sitting here drinking coffee with seven other mutants." I laughed a little. "I never thought I would have been knocked down in the street by starbucks by a man toating two swords, running from his ex girlfriend." Everyone laughed and Wade looked down at the table.
"Well I didn't expect to run into such a pretty girl." He said crossing his arms.
"Oh I apologise you find my stunning beauty a distraction." Everyone laughed and I through my arm around Wade's shoulders. "You know I'm only kidding right." He laughed and nodded.
"So are you all ok with her staying?" He asked the others. The general answer was sure.
Victor was the only silent one. "What we say doesn't really matter." He started. "Its how Stryker reacts when he hears about you bringing some girl here, after he told you specifically not to do something like this." He said. I put my eyes down, Talk about making someone feel unwanted and awkward.
"Come on Victor, It can't be as bad as we think." James said innm y deffence. "Whats he gonna do? kick us out?" He said sarcastically.
"Hardly." Came a strict voice behind us all.
"Oh hell." John said putting his head down.
I turned around and saw an older fat man standing there, looking very disapprovingly. Personally I didn't care if he wanted me here or not, I wanted to be around Wade, hes the first friend I've had for four years. I stood up and he looked at me.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to intrude." I said politely.
he huffed. "Intrude?" He asked with a slight laugh. "You're a mutant yes?" He asked. I nodded. "Blyss Lynn varner?" I gave him a strange look and he laughed again. "Darling, no one comes in or out of here without me knowing who they are. There wasn't much about you though, seems as though you dropped off the radar when you were....sixteen?"

I looked away, he was pushing some buttons, and I had a hairpin trigger. Wade stood up next to me, he tried to grab my hand but jerked away, I didn't mean to burn him. This guy was just pissing me off.
"You had a younger brother." Oh hell no. "Was there any signs of the mutant gene in him?" He asked amused at my anger. Full flame on my hands now, I could feel my blood boiling in every inch of my body. "I wonder if your father had any relatives with the gene, maybe thats why he reacted the way he did. . ."
"You son of a bitch!" I yelled charging him, both hands holding a large flame. I was inches away from him when John teleported beside me, holding me back. his leather jacket began smoking, he was about to let go when James grabbed my wrist pulling it up so I was looking in his eyes.
"thats enough." He said sternly. My fire was burning him, but his skin was regenerating very quickly. "Blyss, calm down." He said in a softer tone. My flames subsides and Wade pulled me into his embrace. "This is William Stryker." he said, then turning his attention to Stryker he apologised and told him who I was. "Wade met her today, she was living out of her car so he offered to let her stay." He explained.
I wanted to rip his head off when he looked back over to me. "Have any combat experience?" he asked.
"Not really." I answered shortly.
"Not really sir." he corrected for me.
I huffed. "Like hell, sir" I spat back. Wade squeezed my arm a little and I took a deep breath.
"You'll respect me, or you'll be leaving." He threatened. "And You will not ever see any of these men again." He wasn't kidding. All the guys seemed pretty loyal to him, especially Victor.
I looked up to Wade momentarily and then back to Stryker. "Sir." I answered.
He smiled a crooked, evil smile. "Good, I'm glad you understand." He said shortly. "James, Wade." Then stood at attention. "I'll entrust you two to train her."
"Yes sir." They said in unison. I rolled my eyes.
"Chris, get her set up in a room."
"Sir," He answered.
Stryker looked back to me. "I hope you'll feel comfortable here. Wade can show you around later." He smiled again, I had to look away. Something about him made me seriously fear him. "Welcome to Team X" And with that he walked out again.
"I'll get your things out of your car for you, alright?" Wade whispered. It made my body tingle. I nodded and he gave me an adorable smile before him and Fred went out to my car. I crossed my arms, holding myself gently. I looked over to James, he looked back and came back over to me.

"Thank you." I said quietly. "I would have burned this place down around him." I said seriously.
He smiled, so handesome. "You're that powerful?" He asked. I nodded. "Well training should be easy for you then." I smiled. "Can you defend yourself with..." he paused. "Fire?" He asked. I laughed and nodded. "Even against something like this?" He asked. He raised his hands and four, lrage, bone claws came protruding from each hand.
I was almost speechless. "Wow..." I couldn't find the words. "Does it hurt?" I asked.
"Everytime." He said a little sad. I could hear it in his voice.
I hit his shoulder playfully. "I should fine against you." I said a little cocky.
He laughed. "We'll see." I nodded. "You get some good rest tonight. We'll show you the training area tomorrow mornign alright girl?" I nodded again and he walked off. Victor was giving me a serious stink eye from across the room, so I did the one thing any adult would do in that situation, I stuck my tongue out at him. [I am the very picture of maturirty.]
Wade and Fred came back in carrying my stuff. Chris offered to lead us all to my new room, it'll be nice living in a place that has plumbing and food [lol] not to mention "AN ACTUAL BED!" I yelled falling back in the sheets.
The guys laughed at me. "I'm glad you like it." Chris said laughing. I gave them all a huge smile."Alright well, you can lock you door if you'd like, you have your own bathroom with a big shower, very luxorious...ya know...to us." we all laughed. "Wardrobe for your clothing, and the tv is in the cabinate, just open and watch." I thanked him, gave him a big hug and he left.
Fred and Wade put my things down and Fred shuffled my hair before he walked out of the room, telling me goodnight. I smiled as I started unpacking my things on the bed. Then I noticed, Wade was leaning on the doorframe watching me. Wearing the gorgeous contented smile. I smiled back and he moved over to me. He was so close now, his body almost against mine, looking down [I only come to his shoulders] into my eyes. My breath grew heavy, I KNEW I was blushing, I could feel it. He smiled running his fingers down my arms gently. I almost fell my knees were shaking so much.
"Blyss?" He asked softly.
"Yes?" I answered, almost breathlessly.
His smile grew wider. "Need help unpacking?" he asked. We laughed so loud as I slapped his arm looking away from him. he hugged me tightly and helped me unpack all my stuff and put it in its designated place. As I was putting my unmentionables in the drawers Wade got really quiet, I turned around and he was now sitting on my bed holding a picture. I sat down next to him, leaning my head on his shoulder.
"My little brother, Bryson." I said smiling at the picture.
Wade smiled. "hes adorable." He said. "You guys were close?" He asked.
I sighed, "we were." I laid back. "Untilmy mother stuffed his head with the idea that I'm a monster, and I'm dangerous. . ." I said closing my eyes.
Wade laid back, laying very close to me. "You know, being a part of this team, we're all we have. They guys seem impartial to me though, and I've been here since the beginning." I laughed a little. "You, you're here for a couple hours and they all love you already." I snuggled up against him and he wrapped his arm around my shoulders securly. "Victor doesn't like anyone though so don't worry about him, Zero too...kind of a dickbag." I laughed again.
"Ya know Wade, " He looked down into my eyes again. "I've laughed more with you in the little time I've know you, than I have in my life ever." He smiled
"Well I'm glad I could do you that kindness." He said kissing my cheek. He pulled away, paused, kissed my other cheek, almost on my lips, pulled away again to look in my eyes. He ran his fingers over my lips softly, I closed my eyes in bliss, then I felt his lips on mine gently. It felt like it lasted forever, but he pulled away after only second. He leaned close to my ear, kissing my shoulder softly, making my shiver and whispered "Goodnight Blyss" against my skin.
My eyes were still closed when he got up off my bed and made his way across the hall to his own bedroom. I opened my eyes and smiled the biggest, dumbest smile in the world. I curled up in my bed, and fell asleep with absolutly no trouble...just one nightmare...

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
