《Down The Line》~DTL.12~

I was able to get a flight back to L.A later tonight. Darius was being disrespectful and I wouldn't stand for it. Danielle was the one who addressed me. I made sure to say goodbye to Kami and tell her she was going to spend time with her Dad. She was beyond happy, even though I didn't want to stay I wasn't going to drag her along with me.
I got home late at night, I ended up taking an Uber home and going straight to bed. The next morning I decided to go over to Miracles.
I knocked on the door and Miracles brother answered. "Wassup Liyah, looking beautiful as ever" he licked his lips and complimented me.
I rolled my eyes "Don't make me get my sister" I told him.
Maurice was Miracles little brother of one year. He was a sophomore when we were juniors. Maurice and Miracle were very close and he was always around. Last time I checked him and my sister were talking.
He rubbed his hands together "Yea let's not do that. Your sister crazy" he chuckled.
"Is Miracle here" I asked nicely.
He laughed "Yup she in the kitchen. Come in" he waved me inside.
I walked into the kitchen where Miracle was "Hey Mir" I said excitedly.
She smiled and hugged me "Hey Liyah. I thought you were supposed to be in San Diego?" She asked.
I rolled my eyes "Long story, that I need to vent to you. Alone" I emphasized the word alone.
"That means leave Maurice. Go to Ariana's or something" Miracle waved him off.
"Whateva I wouldn't wanna hear about y'all girl conversations no way." He turned around to leave. "Aaliyah don't let my sister convince you to do anything stupid" he smirked.
I shook my head "Don't get beat up" Miracle yelled as he walked towards the door. He turned back and flipped her off.
"So what's up" Miracle asked as she opened her fridge.
I huffed and have her the whole breakdown of what happened. "I would've smacked his lightskin ass." Miracle rolled her eyes.
I laughed "I should've. I haven't talked to him, imma call later though to talk to Kami. But I have nothing to say to him"
"His disrespectful ass. I hope he told his little bitch that when she embarrassed him twice" Miracle commented, I ain't even think about that.
"Whateva no need to dwell on it. I have nothing to do all day so imma relax at home" I said as I got up from my chair.

"Alrighty. Imma probably go to Jalens later." Miracle said as we walked to the door.
I smiled "Y'all getting serious." I questioned.
"Maybe" she blushed. I laughed "Well okay Ms. soon to be Johnson."
"Okay nobody said all of that but we're growing together Aaliyah yes" she smiled. I laughed and walked out the door.
The whole family was sitting around for day two of the reunion, it was a two day reunion. My phone was ringing and it was Aaliyah.
"Hello" I answered her FaceTime call.
She rolled her eyes "Where's Kamryn" she asked with an attitude.
I groaned "Right here"
"Well can you give her the phone" she said in a duh tone.
I just handed Kamryn the phone cause I ain't reel like entertaining her attitude right now. "Hey baby" I heard Aaliyah say.
Kamryn face immediately lit up "Hey Mommy. Am I going to see you today" she asked.
"Yes baby. Your dads gonna bring you back home a little later tonight"
"Yay" she smiled.
Aaliyah and Kamryn talked for about thirty minutes until Kamryn finally handed me back the phone.
"What time are y'all gonna start driving back" she asked bluntly.
"Ion know probably around like two" I responded.
"Great" she smiled sarcastically. "Aaliyah-" I said but she hung up the phone in my face.
I honestly think Aaliyah bring a little dramatic about the whole situation, she needs to learn there's a time and a place to act a fool.
Kamryn went to go play so I decided to go sit with my mom. "Hey momma" I said as I kissed her cheek.
"Hey baby. Where's Aaliyah" she asked.
I groaned "She left yesterday after that fight with Danielle. We got into a argument I told her about herself and she ain't like it" I shrugged.
"We're you being disrespectful?"
I shrugged again "I mean you could say that, I just told her she was an embarrassment to me"
She rolled her eyes and hit me. "Ow momma what was that for" I asked.
"Why would you tell a woman that, that's so disrespectful Darius"
"How?" I asked confusedly.
"I swear" she shook her head. "Because Darius she's the mother of your child and now she feels like that's the way you see her. Your supposed to respect her and value her no matter if y'all together or not" she explained.
When she broke it down like that I could see where she's coming from. The truth is I didn't think Aaliyah was an embarrassment. I might have told Aaliyah I don't love her no more, but I still and always would. I put Aaliyah on a pedal-steal even after everything that happened.

"Did you even talk to your sister about her role in this whole altercation. It wasn't just on Aaliyah"
"Nah I ain't even talk to Danielle about it. I just sort of blamed it on Aaliyah and ain't say another word about it" I admitted.
She shook her head "I swear even if you get older your still as dumb as you were when you were 10 years old" she laughed as she rose from her seat. I laughed and waved her off.
"Danielle" I yelled catching her attention and I waved her over to me.
"Hey bubs." She smiled and sat next to me.
"Hey Danny, I need to talk you about to fight with Aaliyah"
She groaned "That ugly hoe, I see why you not together with that bitch"
I put my hands up "Aye don't do that. At the end of the day Aaliyah broke my heart years ago and that got nothing to do with you. Not saying I don't appreciate you sticking up for me but imma grown man and you can't do that shit no more"
She rolled her eyes "Darius-"
"I'm not done. Also that fighting shit is dead. Your not going to be disrespectful towards her or call her out her name no more. Y'all both grown and at the end of the day y'all both gonna be in my life forever, if y'all like it or not"
"Fine Darius. Whatever you say" she crossed her arms.
"I'm serious Danielle"
"Okay"
I smiled "I'm glad we have a understanding. love you" I kissed her cheek and got up. She chuckled.
"Mommy" Kamryn screamed as she walked into the house.
I picked her up "Hey baby. I missed you" I said as I kissed her cheek.
She smiled "I missed you too baby."
I put her down "Did you have fun with your dad" I asked her in a smile.
"Yea a lot of fun"
"Okay stink go upstairs and get ready for bed" I told her, she ran upstairs.
"I talked to my sister" Darius said when Kamryn ran upstairs.
I scuffed "Want a cookie" I rolled my eyes.
"I mean it be nice" he said sarcastically. "Well you dropped Kamryn off so you can go" I said rudely.
"Aaliyah I'm sorry for what I said yesterday. I was out of line and I realized that"
"Did you now, took you long enough"
"Aaliyah stop with all the attitude. I said I was sorry"
I rolled my eyes "Okay I guess I accept. I apologize for fighting when you asked me not to"
"Nah no need to apologize I know my sister was out of line. I apologize for her behavior"
I slightly smiled "Can I confess something to you" Darius said making me pay attention.
"Sure" I crossed my arms. He took a deep breath making me raise an eyebrow.
"I broke up with Jamera a couple weeks ago. I just haven't said anything, that's the reason she hasn't been around" He admitted.
"Oh. I'm sorry" I responded. I didn't really know what to say. Him and Jamera breaking up has nothing to do with me but I guess it was nice to know.
"It's all good. She wasn't the one. I guess I continue the search" he chuckled while looking down.
"Well I hope you find that lucky girl." I smiled.
The room fell quiet. "I always thought it be you" He looked up and stepped closer to me.
I remained quiet not knowing what to say "If you didn't break up with me, we would've stayed together and been happy"
"Darius we don't know that." I looked away.
He gently grabbed my chin making me face him again "You were my world Aaliyah. I walked on the ground you stood on."
"Were Darius, past tense. You don't feel that way anymore and that's fine." I tried walking away.
He pulled me back around and stared at me for a second before planting his lips on mine. His lips were soft and the kiss felt natural and I had butterfly's in my stomach like it was our first time. I wrapped my arms around his neck while he wrapped his around my waist.
Letting the kids continue for a little while longer, I finally broke it. "I'll always feel that way Aaliyah. You're my first love"
"I...I don't know what to say D" I stuttered. He laughed "It's okay I didn't expect you to say anything. I just wanted you to know. Goodnight Aaliyah" He kissed my cheek and left.

For Grass and Glory
Being old is difficult. But losing the love of your life to natural selection and being left in the dirt is even harder. Join Walton in his final journey as he figures out if his principals are just as important when there is nothing left to lose. Combating hypocrisy, youth, bad diet practises and a general lack of respect towards humanity, Walton's struggles are the true adventure of the everyday man. A story about unlikely friendship, being old, unexpected beauty, and the obsession of kicking a round leather ball in the best way possible. A story about a new world, and its possibilities. A story about the grass, and let us hope, a small bit of glory? Author note: This is a project of mine I started in 2016 and recently been writing for again. Writing for me is something I love to do, but can't always find the time for. This is also the reason I have not finished (or come close to) Ethereal Space yet. I get distracted. I started this novel intending to create something else, to break a bit with the current go to's story wise in the litRPG or virtual reality communities. So, this is my attempt at "Something different" I would love feedback or just your general opinion. But most of all, I hope it entertains. Enjoy!

Shrike
He wants to play the latest and greatest VRMMORPG game, but he can't muster up the cash for the fancy new proprietary hardware and membership license. After months of saving up cash and arduous work, he has built a behemoth of a machine relying almost entirely on seedy old technology and a DIY guide by some dude named "Jimmy Bob." This is the story of his entry into the game. This is also a story of intrigue, exploration, introspection, batshit crazy game design, and unintended but entirely predictable consequences. This is G.C.O. Undergoing a total re-write, mostly because I think things were too rushed rather than any content or direction changes. If you are one of the few who tried Shrike when it was briefly updating, consider giving it another shot. Of no relation to either The Great Crusade or the recent (in 2017 lol) Shrike book for Warhammer by Games Workshop. All similarities in these cases are superficial; please don't sue me. Feedback welcome and encouraged, never be afraid to review or comment. HQ/Kindle-Grade cover art. Book Cover 2.0: "From the Dark"
