《Down The Line》~DTL.2~

Darius had been standoffish for the last couple of days and I couldn't figure out why. Darius usually had a bad attitude it was just who he was.
"Jamera can you check all my voicemails on my phone" Darius asked coming into the room shirtless.
"Yea babe sure" I responded grabbing his phone off the nightstand.
I went through the messages, they were all about meetings and ideas for new products for his clothing line.
"Darius it's Aaliyah..Aaliyah Colemon. We need to talk. Call me back" the unfamiliar voice repeated through the voicemail.
I didn't recognize the voice but a damn sure recognized the name. Aaliyah was Darius ex—girlfriend he always rambled on about early in our relationship. It took forever for us to actually make it officially. Since it took him so long to get over Aaliyah.
I didn't know who this girl was but there was obviously nothing important for her to talk to Darius about since she hasn't talked to him in years. I didn't need her coming in ruining the life we have.
I quickly deleted the voicemail and set his phone back on the night stand.
"Any important messages" Darius asked walking back into our room.
"All the ones worth listening too we're kept. All the non important ones were trashed." I smiled scooting to the edge of the bed while he sat down.
"Aight." He said lotioning his body, getting ready for his work day.
I kissed him, smothering him in kisses all across his jawline. "I gotta go Mera. I'll see you tonight" he stood up.
"Darius I'm tired of this. Now I can't even show you affection" I stood up crossing my arms.
"Man I gotta go to work. Ain't nothing personal" he responded putting his clothes on.
I smacked my lips "then give me a kiss"
He walked towards me giving me a petty peck on the lips. "There I'll see you tonight" he put on his yeezyz and walking out the door.
I just rolled my eyes in annoyance. This man is really irking my nerves.
It had been a week since I left the message of Darius phone. I don't know if he gotten the message and didn't care to respond or just didn't wanna talk to me. I really didn't know. I could've told him about his daughter over the phone but it didn't feel right. I wanted to tell him in person.

"I don't know what you expect me to do. I called him, I tried." I shrugged my shoulders while talking to Miracle.
"He's a busy man, he probably ain't get it." Miracle defended.
"Why are you so hell bent on me telling him like you get something from it?" I asked suspiciously.
"I'm not but as Kamryn's god mother I think it's important for her well being that's it"
"Okay, so what you want me to do" I asked grabbing something to drink out the fridge.
"Go to his office, see if he's there and tell him there" she responded.
"So you want me to go to his work place and barge and there and say hey I know I haven't talked to you in four years but you have a daughter surprise" I said sarcastically rolling my eyes.
"Well don't put it like that asshole." She rolled her eyes. "But you were going to tell him in person anyways. So why not" she questioned.
I mean she was right, I obviously had called him in order to schedule a time to tell him in person. He needed to find out, that wasn't such a bad idea.
I got dressed and prepared to go to his office. Kamryn was staying with my parents for the day. So I had enough time to go and see Darius.
We finally had arrived to the big building that read
"You ready" Miracle asked while grabbing my hand.
"Yup I'm ready" I looked at her and walked in.
We walked to the front desk where the receptionist was. "Hi" I smiled.
"Hello Ms may I helped you" the small peppy white girl asked.
"Umm yes I'm looking for Darius Boweman" I responded.
"Actually Mr.Boweman is in a meeting right now. I'm unsure when he'll be out. Can I leave a message" she asked smiling.
"Umm no thank you" I said preparing to walk away.
Miracle pushed me out the way "yes you can. Tell him Aaliyah Colemon came by and he needs to call her ASAP. It's important" Miracle said writing down my number.
"Of course. I'll tell him right away" the receptionist smiled.

"Thank you" I waved off goodbye.
"No problem" she waved back.
We walked outside to my car and hopped in, getting ready to go.
All the meetings I had were finally over and I just wanted to get out of the office as quickly as possible to get home and sleep. Even though Jamera ass has been annoying been lately. She's been so needy and clingy lately I don't even know why.
I was walking out the office when my receptionist called my name. "Mr.Boweman" my receptionist called waving me over to her.
I slightly groaned and walked over to her "Yes Sarah I'm tired and I'm ready to go" I said with a slight attitude.
"I'm sorry sir but you have a message from" she looked for the message in her files. "From Aaliyah Colemon She said call her ASAP it's important" she repeated giving me the number she left.
"Aaliyah Colemon" I asked in surprise. I haven't heard from her in years why now.
"Yes sir. She said her name was Aaliyah Colemon" she reassured.
I took the note "okay thank you Sarah. Have a great night"
"No problem sir and you too" she smiled as I waved and walked away.
I walked to my car and just sat there in silence and surprise. "Aaliyah?" I kept asking my self. "My Aaliyah" I said in disbelief. Why was she trying to get in contact with me. I mean after all the years. What could she possibly want from me.
Maybe she knew I had money now and wanted to pop up into my life. Maybe she wanted to get back together. Maybe she wanted to apologize. There were so many possible reasons running through my head. I ain't know what to think.
I put the number in my phone dial. "What do I do? Come on Darius make a decesion" I told myself.
"Are you going to call? You don't wanna regret not calling
I sat on my couch with Kamryn waiting for him to call. Maybe he wasn't going to call. Why would he. I left his ass high and dry and I know he still held a grudge over it. That was his personality he held grudges.
I heard Kamryn yawn "You tired Kami" I asked rubbing her head.
She yawned again "Yea a little" I smiled at her.
After awhile she just fell asleep. I turned off the tv where she was watching Doc Mcstuffins, and took her to her bed.
I took a hot shower and decided to just go on my phone and relax while having my tv on in the back. I wasn't even watching it but I liked hearing the noise.
I slowly dosing off until a unknown number popped up on my phone. I sat up picking up the phone.
"Hello" I said into the phone.
"Aaliyah" Darius voice said through the phone.
"Darius" I said in surprise that he called.
He didn't respond he just sat in silence. "Darius we need to talk. Can we meet" I asked breaking the silence.
"About What Aaliyah" he asked with a attitude.
"I can't tell you over the phone. I'll send you a address where we can meet tomorrow. Kam-" I cut myself off as I almost over shared.
"Kam?" He questioned. "Who's Kam. Aaliyah what's going on"
"I'll explain tomorrow Darius. Please I know you don't owe me anything just meet me" I begged.
"Fine tomorrow. You better not be playing games with me. Send the address I'll see you tomorrow" and with that he hung up.
I was excited to see him, I hadn't seen him in years. I was also afraid how he would react when I tell him that he has a four year old daughter and I ain't tell him about. I mean at least I have her his last name. I gave him that much respect. Tomorrow was going to be the day.

Instead, she curses him with cowardice, limiting his combat and magical potential. Little does the goddess know that nothing can stand in the way of Perry's sheer will. Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.
