《Lustrous》Chapter 45: Happily Ever After

What the hell am I thinking?

This was insane. Completely and utterly in-frigen-sane.

Sky, honey, I thought we already established your level of sanity months ago.

I took a deep breath and nodded.

Although, my inner self began again. If we were to compare your sanity level from now, to before when you were still unemployed and seconds away from hitting your now-fiancé in the nose with your handbag and burning his groin, would you be more or less insane?

I gulped. I don't think I want to touch that thought with a ten-foot pole.

Well then lucky there's no ten-foot poles around!

My cheeks reddened and my body felt like it was on fire. I waved my hand in front of me trying to cool myself down.

Defiantly more insane than before. My inner self concluded.

"Sky are you ready?" Jessie gushed behind me. She was flushed, her cheeks bright red and out of breath. "We are already late as it is!"

Jessie rushed past me in a blur of purple. Her dress a beautiful rich purple, a simple navy blue lace pattern stretched across the bodice to match the men's suits, with light skirts - nothing too elaborate that it would make it hard to sit down or dance. Her heels were bright silver, which matched her jewelry and hairpins, holding her hair in wicked curls.

"The bride is never late, everyone else is simply early." I smiled, twisting a quote from one of my favourite movies.

"Sky, I swear I am going to drag you down that isle kicking and screaming if you don't hurry your ass up!"

Does she seem mad to you?

I pondered the question, tilting my head and taking another look at Jessie.

"Skylar!" She screamed at me one last time. "Move!"

Oh yeah, she madder than a hatter.

My eyes widened in surprise and I quickly stood from the vanity table in my childhood bedroom. My hair was perfectly curled and pined back in a large up-do with a few stray strands perfectly placed to fall down over my neck and face. Perl pins were scattered in my hair making it glisten in the light. A professional had freshly applied my make up - light and natural with a dark brown eyeliner to make my eyes stand out. My lips were a beautiful soft pink, although, at the rate I kept licking my lips, the colour would hardly last until the ceremony.

"I don't know what you're whining about, I'm ready to go."

Jessie paused abruptly. Her eyes blinking rapidly as her mouth opened ever so slightly.

She's speechless! Yeah, that's how good I looked.

"So you're going to walk down the isle like that?" She raised her eyebrows and gestured towards me.

I opened my mouth to say yes when I glanced down. I wasn't wearing my wedding dress. Instead I was dressed in my new lingerie that I had bought for today and my over-sized t-shirt that I had slept in last night.

If you walked down the isle like that, well that would be a wedding to remember!

"I'll just put my dress on." I quickly held up a finger, indicating that I'd only be a moment.

I ran into the wardrobe and quickly pulled out my wedding dress covered in plastic.

Could you imagine if it doesn't fit?

I gulped. Don't say that!

Well, I mean, maybe you lost a bit of weight since a few months ago when you bought it. Or the more likely, put weight on.

I narrowed my eyes at the dress. You better fit.

It's not like you've been doing anything the last 2 weeks but staying in bed and eating junk food.

I was recovering from a bullet wound!

I winced as moved to touch the wound. It was still very tender and covered with a very large Band-Aid. But it was healing nicely and because of it's position it didn't hurt too much to move. To be honest it hadn't been that painful for a few days now, but I did love how Anthony waited on me, bringing everything to me while I 'rested'. Never once did I actually have to get up for anything other than the bathroom! All the while, my inner self was dancing around saying 'this is how queens live!'

I stepped into my dress and got Jessie to do it up. The patterns of lace over silk material fit nicely against my skin now that the alterations had been made. The sparkles on the bodice of the dress glistened in the light and I felt like a beautiful star.

"Ready now?"

I nodded smiling, trying to stop the tears from swelling in my eyes. "I'm ready. Let's do this."

We walked towards the limo's waiting for us out the front of the house. It was just Jessie and Jasmine - both girls my bride's maids and dressed in the same beautiful purple - and me.

The ride to the private park set up behind Anthony's childhood home was mostly silent - except fir Jasmines light humming to the music on the radio. My throat tightened, my body shook and my hands trembled as we got closer and closer.

Doubts swirled in my head and panic rose up in me but I did my best to keep them away.

By the time the limo stilled in front of the park I was about ready to be sick.

The doors opened to the park and I took one last breath. I swung my legs out of the limo, being sure to do it in a lady like manor. Ducking my head I smiled as I saw everyone turn to face me. Smiles on their faces and bright colourful clothing flashed in front of me. Here's to a new life...

My foot tripped as I got out of the car and I fell flat on the ground. Oww.

New life, and same old Sky.

My face flushed with embracement and I wanted to just sink into the ground and become grass.

That's a new dream profession. One, you maybe actually able to pull off.

"Shit Sky." Jessie and Jasmine, my brides maids, quickly helped me up and dusted off my dress from grass stains - that were mostly already ruining my dress.

"Take two." I told them and took another deep breath. Plastering a bright smile on my face, I fell into step behind them.

"Sky," Jasmine whispered to me. "Try easing up on the smile, you look like you the joker."

Quick run! Save yourself!

I quickly pushed my lips together. Why am I so nervous? What is happening to me? I such a clumsy mess!

... And this is different how?

I rolled my eyes as we got to the isle. A light tune played on the violin and Jessie and Jasmine both walked down the isle while I slowed my steps, trying not to fall now that they had left me to my own devices.

I looked at our small list of guests.

Anthony's parents sat dressed in fine clothes and bright, approving smiles. Charlene was sitting beside them looking more nervous than I was. I could tell she was scared for me. I gave her a soft head nod, telling her I was okay.

Along the other guests invited was my old neighbour Joshua Miles, Anthony's friends Jordan and his girlfriend Mia, a flash of an engagement ring fresh on her finger. Another friend James and his girlfriend who I hadn't met yet, she was pretty in a youthfully cute kind of way with dark hair and brown eyes. And lastly, Fynn and Charles who I remembered from the engagement party. There were a few other guests invited, friends from work and distant, distant relatives who I hadn't seen in a very long time.

But my attention was captured as soon as my eyes landed on Anthony. He was dressed in a dark navy blue suit with a white shirt and a white tie to match my dress while his grooms men, Jordan and Fynn were wearing blue suits with purple ties. Anthony was looking so handsome; his hair was slick back in a handsome, older style sort of way, his golden eyes twinkling in the soft sunlight and a bright smile spread across his lips.

Don't fall. Don't fall.

I walked myself down the isle until Anthony reached out and took my hands as I reached the podium. He helped me up the two simple steps to the hut where the minster stood waiting with a kind smile on his face. Anthony struggled not to chuckle at me as I took the steps with extra care.

When I reached the top and stood next to him, I imagined he would say hello, or your look nice, but all I got was: "Have a nice trip back there?" He chuckled again.

I tried my hardest not to narrow my eyes at him. "I did actually, your post card is in the mail."

"So glad you thought to send me a post card."

The Minister began his speech and I tried my hardest to listen, hoping I paid attention enough so that I didn't miss my line.

"You look stunning by the way." His smile was contagious and I felt myself giggle a little.

I made a show of looking him up and down out of the corner of my eye. "Not so bad yourself Runner."

He shook his head at the name 'Runner', the same name I called him when I first met him - by accident of course.

"Please say your vows." The minister nodded towards us, encouragingly.

We turned to each other, holding each other's hands. Anthony's thumb gently caressing my hand.

"Skylar Marie Martin. You came into my life in the most unexpected way, by breaking my nose." He chuckled at himself. "You a whirl wind." A small paused for affect - God he was good at this. "But a whirl wind I am happy to get lost in. I look forward to our life together, in sickness and in health, I know I could never get bored of that beautiful smile and personality." He gave me a knowing stare and I smiled. "I love you, till death do we part."

"Anthony Levi Renner." I put extra emphasis on 'Renner'. "I can not promise you the world, I can not promise it will always be easy, and I can not promise you normal." His eyes bore into me with such intensity I felt my heart swell. "But I can promise to love you, in sickness and in health. To try. And to always be there for you, till death do us part."

The Minister signaled us to put the rings on. "I Skylar Marie Martin," I reached for the black and gold wedding band with the words 'Hers, Always - S.M.M' and I gently slide it on his ring finger "Take you Anthony Levi Renner to be my lawfully wedded Husband". Anthony grabbed there other ring, which was identical to the one he now wore; only there was a small, simple diamond in the middle, and the engraving 'His, Forever - A.L.R'. "I Anthony Levi Renner take you Skylar Marie Martin to be my lawfully wedded Wife." He slid the ring on my finger and everything fell into place.

"You may kiss the bride."

Anthony didn't wait for the Minster to finish his sentence before he pulled me to his chest and kissed me deeply. My heart erupted in fire works. His kiss was full of promise, of commitment, and most of all, of love. With one kiss every doubt I had disappeared, every voice in my mind fell silent until there was nothing but him kissing me, his arms wrapped around me.

Safe and warm.

The ceremony lasted far too long and I found myself almost falling asleep right there and then. "If you fall asleep, I'm not beyond drawing on your face." Anthony threatened next to me, whispering in my ear before he grabbed my hand and started pulling into yet another dance. My feet hurt and I could hardly keep my eyes open. I leaned against Anthony, my head on his chest and I let my eyes close as he swayed. It was soothing, almost like he was rocking me to sleep.

He kissed my head lightly as the music played, switching between James Arthur and John Legend. "I love you Sky."

"Hmm." I muttered against his chest. Why did he insist on speaking?!

"You know you can't call me Runner anymore."

"Hmm."

"Because you're a Renner now too." He teased even though I never changed my last name.

I looked up at him through tired eyes, my lashes becoming very heavy all of a sudden.

"And you're stuck with me." I gave a small smile, locking my arms around his neck.

"Forever." He whispered as if it were a secret, the gleaming in his eyes showing his excitement for what laid ahead.

"Let's get out of here." He whispered again, his lips grazing against my ear, tickling and send shock waves through my body - and suddenly, I was no longer so tired.

I rolled my eyes at him, playfully and let him lead me away, behind a pillar by the door to the function room and out into the main foyer. We entered the elevator and I didn't have time to think before my back hit the wall.

"You awake yet?" His voice was husky and rippled with desire.

"Yes," I moaned and tilted my head up giving him better access to my neck.

He left small kissed along my neck on too-quick elevator ride up to our apartment. As the doors pinged open, he gripped my hand and led me into our room. I turned to kiss him, but Anthony had other ideas, pushing me down on the mattress and hovering over me.

His kiss was like a fever. Hot passion and cold breeze nipped at my skin, his hands attempting to move along the dress - attempting being key.

I laughed as he pulled away from me. "How in hell does this monstrous thing come off?" He waved the layers of skirts away from his face. "I don't even think I can find your legs in here!"

I laughed, throwing my head back and easing myself into the matters. "Don' tyou dare go to sleep."

"Why not? I could get a quick nap in by the time your work out how to get this off." I winked at him.

"I will rip it."

My eyes widened and my mouth fell open. Eyes narrowing. "Don't you dare."

His eyes twinkled with a challenge. I pressed my foot against his chest and pushed him back until he fell slightly off the bed. Smiling so much my cheeks hurt, I rolled off the bed and ran for the door. Anthony was too fast, grabbing me by the waist and pulling me back towards him. "Don't think you're getting away that easy!"

"Wouldn't dream of it." I pushed him back until he fell back down on the bed. "Clips and Zips." I told him, turning my back to him, giving him the biggest hint possible.

"This is absurd. You would think they'd design these things so that they come off easy." Anthony's fingers went to work, unclipping the clips and then finally dragging the zip all the way down until the dress fell off my shoulders and piled on the floor.

He ran his fingers across my back, following the line of my spine, tickling me - making me shiver. Gripping my hips, he moved me back to stand in between his legs as his lips pressing small butterfly kisses along my back. It was slow, tentative and teasing. I could myself ache. My heart. My body. My loins. Desire rushed through me, pulling at my senses and awaking every muscle within me.

I turned in his embrace, now facing him. He looked up at me now, his golden eyes like dark dying suns - beautiful and enchanting. A smirk slid across his lips.

I rolled my eyes as a smile took hold of my own lips. I pushed him down further onto the bed and joined him - Saddling his hips and bringing my lips to his in a desperate need.

My heart was beating so hard that it felt like my chest was about to burst any minute. Could he hear it? My face burned with a deep flush and he quickly flipped me, pulling me under him and pushing himself between my legs. He pulled back and stared at me, his hands still lightly dancing over my very much-exposed skin. He was tickling and teasing. I closed my eyes briefly, absorbing his touch, loving the way he made me feel. I opened my eyes again as his hands felt me. He was busy taking off his shirt and loosing the button on his slacks. I reached up and ran my hands over his chest for only a minute before he pushed me back down on the bed - using the same rough force I used on him.

I waited for his kiss but it never came. His lips barely grazing over my plump swallow lips before he quickly turned his attention - and his lips - to my neck. His warm skin made me shiver as he started nibbling and licking my ear, wrapping one of his hands around my waist to hold me still at the same time. Wait, what? "What are you doing...Oooh!" I moaned as he bit my ear. I shut my eyes so fast; keeping them closed and wrapped my arms around his neck, holding him to me as if I was holding on for my life. He moved towards my neck and pressed his lips above my collar bone. My thighs squeezed together involuntarily, as best they could with his body between them. I could practically feel his grin against my skin.

Wait, where are his hands going? One of his hands trailed along my stomach down to my hips, feeling over the super thin lace that separated him from my bare skin, while his other hand made its way to my chest. He continued his way down to my outer thigh and under my knee and then lifted my leg up; all while trailing wet butterfly kisses up my neck to my jaw. He held my leg beside him.

His hand caressed my thigh while his other had subtly moved to my cheek. He deepened the kiss, licking my lower lip as if to ask for permission. And I gave it to - willingly. At first our tongues battled for dominance, I wasn't going to let him win so easily. But then I felt his hand move over my breasts and it made me make an unsightly sounding gasp. He grinned and used my confusion to begin using his tongue to explore my mouth, moving everywhere from the back of my teeth to the underside of my tongue. His hand started moving again and travelled slowly from my thigh to my lower back, lifting me up and pressing me against him. I tried to say something but my words were muffled due to his mouth covering mine - I couldn't even remember what I wanted to say. I raised my hand in a sudden movement and found myself caressing his cheek, feeling his surprisingly-not-so-prickly stubble, and then moving to his hair. It was soft as I intertwined my fingers in it.

All I could think about was that he had me exactly where he wanted me, underneath him, pressed against him, my fingers in his hair as if begging for more, but that wasn't important right now. What's important is that I like it.

It was just the two of us, and nothing else mattered, just us and this moment.

He pulled back again. His golden eyes darkened with desire as his gaze slowly scanned down my body and back up again, were it resided on my lips. I parted them in an effort to get more air as I felt all of the oxygen leave my lungs. With every slow trace of his eyes along my skin, I felt my body begin to respond: My body heating, a tightening in my stomach and an elevated heart rate as every inch of my body clenched with need.

He got off of the bed. What did I do? He stood in front of me in all his sexiness holding eye contact. I pushed myself up onto my elbows to get a better view of him. I can't help myself but bite my lips in awe, his hard muscles all clenched, board shoulders, a hard stomach... It was only then that I noticed he was undressing - that's why he stopped. Oh good! Pulling down his slacks and briefs he stood their confident in all his naked glory and he definitely had good reason to be confident. My jaw dropped ever so slightly as I gaze at his impeccable figure; he gave me a seductive smile before covering my body with his once again.

Using his elbows to support himself he began to kiss me, covering my mouth with his. This time I didn't fight for control. His kiss was sweet and tender yet full of passion and desire as it said everything it needed to. He began to trail his kisses down my body, sucking and nipping as he went; down my neck, in between my breasts, along my stomach to my navel, leaving a fiery path of hot desire in its wake. I barely noticed him pull off the lace as I was too concentrated on my body bucking from his assault on my skin.
