《Lustrous》Chapter 13 : Modelling the Right Attire

I stared openly at the twist and turns of the fabric and wondered for a moment, what the hell I was looking at. That wasn't even enough space to put your head through, I pouted in confusion.

Um Sky, I think that's where your arm goes.

Oh. That makes sense.

It was a strange dress.

A disgusting dress.

It was an interesting design.

Terrible design really. The designer must have been extremely drunk or high on some very illegal substances when they drew it out.

It was some type of a wrap.

Like a Mummy.

Only, there were these things.

Kind of like big, ass bulges that made you look fat or like a Mr Men character.

Big bulky triangles for shoulder pads with a diamond shaped neckline that travelled extremely too low for my comfort and the extra padding bulging out of the hips would make even the smallest woman look like they have an elephant hiding in their butt.

And don't forget the colour!

Ah yes, and the colour. It was a deep ugly purple brown colour that looked like something you find in the bottom of a toilet.

"I am not trying this on." I folded my arms across my chest, sure of myself. "It looks like a person threw up on it."

"This is by a top designer, I assure you, you can't get better quality." The sales assistant pressed, her voice sounded slightly insulted as I recoiled at the dress.

I'm pretty sure I can pick up better looking clothes from Target, and cheaper too.

"Stop being over dramatic Sky." Anthony added as he reclined on the circular couch in the store and sipped his complementary soda.

"I am not being over dramatic, this is a travesty on a hanger." I turned to face Anthony.

He rolled his eyes at me and reached down next to him, grabbing a hold of my black beanie that he so graciously stole off my head only minutes ago and throwing it at my head.

"No this is a travesty." He chuckled.

The beanie hit me in the face, the material landing on my tongue as I went to reply.

"Shut up and try the damn thing on before the store closes."

I frowned. "The store closes in five hours."

"And at this rate they will be chasing us out with a mop." It was scary how serious his tone and expression was as he spoke.

"Why do I even have to buy new clothes?" I walked away from the sales assistant and sat myself on the small stool in front of Anthony.

"Because I need you to look like my fiancé, which means wearing clothes that don't make you look like a teenager with no sense of direction and looking like you are actually capable of running a company."

"I'm going to be running a company?" I beamed at the prospect.

"Nope." He put more emphasis on the p. "But they won't know that."

"Can I at least pick the clothes?"

"You think that," He pointed to my current outfit. "Is good styling choice?"

I paused.

I think this is a trick question.

I think so too.

"No?" I all but questioned.

Anthony sighed loudly before he turned over the couch. "Juliana." He called. "We are going to need a few more dresses, maybe some red."

I groaned as I threw my head in my hands in defeat. This was seeming like an endless day.

Juliana selected out a few more dresses and skirts and loaded up the dressing room full of clothes for me to try on.

"Off you go." Anthony waved me off as he ordered a refill.

"I hate you." I muttered as I stood up and walked over to the dressing room, knowing full well that my two sophisticated dresses would hardly get me through his extravagant life and that if I didn't, he would probably force dress me.

Stripping myself of my basic clothes, I pulled the red dress off the hanger and started stepping into it.

"What is taking you so long?" He complained on the other end of the door.

"I'm doing the zipper." I spoke almost in pain as I struggled to pull it up. It didn't help that I was struggling to reach the zipper on my back but the fact that it was extremely tight didn't help me.

The door sung open and almost hit me in the face. "Get out!" I screamed as I tried to hide my figure but since a full-length mirror covered every wall, this action was mute.

"Turn around and I'll do the zipper." Anthony ordered as he closed the door.

"No, get out." I enforced.

"If we wait for you to finally realise you can't reach, I might as well take a nap."

"I'm sure if you ask nicely they'll give you a pillow." I mocked my smile.

Anthony's lips twitched up slightly, clearly he was impressed by my quick come back.

Welcome back inner pride! Did you enjoy your holiday? You look very tan.

Reaching out to me Anthony put his hands firmly on my bare shoulders and turned me around before I had a chance to protest again.

His fingers brushed against the middle of my back as he gripped the zipper and started bringing it up.

"Suck it in."

Excuse you bitch? Did he just call you fat?

"It doesn't fit." I pulled away from him, my embarrassment started to eat at me. My cheeks burned a bright red as the rest of my skin began to cover itself in Goosebumps.

Looking up in the mirror I watched as Anthony frowned and then nodded in understanding. His hands reached out again and pulled the zipper all the way down until it was at my butt.

"Dear god woman you call this underwear?" He recoiled as he examined my ass and the small part of my bra that was showing. No matter how gorgeous lacy, sexy underwear looks; it is not at all comfortable for long periods of time unless it was expensive.

"It's comfortable. Now get out." I tried to cover myself up.

Some people like a lot of coverage and those lacy things just give a wedgie.

"Oh relax, it's just a body."

"Yes." I nodded. "My body that is rather exposed in front of a man I hardly know and don't trust."

"I am glad you can state the oblivious Babe."

I sighed in annoyance and thought about ways to shove him out of the door but sadly he was blocking my way to the lock.

Anthony turned and flicked through the dresses that were hanging up on the wall. "Here," he grasped a dark mid night blue dress that looked even tighter than the red one I had just tried on.

"It isn't going to fit." I pressed, each time I had to say the words it pulled at my insecurity.

"It's stretchier in the ass, just try it." He thrusted the dress forward and handed it to me before he leant up against the mirror and crossed his arms over his chest as he waited.

"Um, do you mind?" I raised my eyebrows at him.

"Not at all." He smirked.

"Anthony, out."

"Oh come on, I've just seen your crappie underwear and I am your fiancé so I am going to have to know what all this looks like sooner or later."

"Not today." Or any day, unless I have some serious brain damage.

Sighing Anthony slipped out of the small change room, leaving me alone. Taking a deep breath I let the tight red dress fall to the floor and focussed on the blue one.

It was normally hard for me to find clothes that fit me right. My hips were wide, and my butt held most of my body weight making me a large size below the waist. My waist itself was bigger than any model or the average waist line with a slight jiggle to it and my breast were an average size so it kept my top half with the medium size.

I pulled on the blue dress a little unsure since it didn't have a zipper. Getting it over my head I fell into the mirror making me scream out a little.

"You okay in there?" Anthony called out.

"Yeah fine." I pulled myself back up to my feet and went to pull the dress down but found myself unable to move my arms far enough. "I think I'm stuck."

I'll add incapable of dressing yourself to the list, shall I?

Don't forget loss of all self respect as well. That ship sailed at the beginning of the week.

Anthony opened the door and although I couldn't seem him, he didn't bother to hide his amusement.

"Oh, this is priceless." He chuckled.

"Shut up and help."

"You have really big hips." He commented.

"Shut up judging me or I swear to god I will run you over with my car." I bite my lip as soon the words left my lips. My social embarrassment distracted me from my self-control allowing my inner self to take the reins and run my mouth.

"Relax Babe, I'm not judging. I don't mind curvy girls." Anthony reassured me as he reached up and pulled the dress back up over my head. "You have your head in the wrong hole."

I blushed at my stupidity, and the fact that I was now standing next to him in my black sports bra and my light pink underwear that sat a little awkward on my hips.

Pulling the dress back on, Anthony pulled it down over my figure despite my pulling away. Looking in the mirror I saw he was right, the dress had a lot more give and seemed to almost flatten out all the imperfections on my body like my hips and stomach to make it seem as if I were perfectly toned and fit underneath.

"Told you." Anthony relaxed against the mirror, a self-satisfied smile on his lips.

"Yeah, yeah, I know." I waved him off.

Anthony nodded and then exited the changing room. "Juliana!" I heard him call. "The blue dress fit and can you pick some decent lingerie?"

Oh dear god no. I banged my head into the mirror. "Ow!"

Ah, hard surfaces' aren't thou a heartless bitch.

I stared angrily at the dashboard of the car and violently imagined killing Anthony. It was hardly acceptable to make your fake fiancé try on clothes you saw as acceptable and then make her 'model' lingerie for him against her will. The asshole bought me an entire new wardrobe including ankle-braking heels.

Technically, he didn't force you.

I thought about it. No, he never laid a hand on me except to pull up my zippers, but still, I felt oddly violated!

You have to admit, those new bras were the comfortable as.

Yes but I am still annoyed.

And you didn't have to pay for any of it.

What part of 'I am angry about this' are you struggling to grasp?

The 'I am angry' part clearly!

I pouted in frustration as I argued with myself about just how angry I was.

"Stop pouting." Anthony scolded me. "You look like a gorilla."

Are gorilla's cute?

Not really.

"Why are you such a dick?" I snapped at him.

Anthony's face flickered with surprise at my sudden outburst. "Calm down Babe."

"Don't call me Babe!"

He shook his head and indicated to turn off the freeway.

"So what? Now you're ignoring me?"

"Sky, calm down. I don't know why you are so pissed. Is it because you're insecure?"

"I am not insecure."

Liar!

Not Now!

"I didn't think so at the start but as soon as your clothes were off it was a whole other story." Anthony waved his hand to emphasis his point and slowly pulled the car up to a stop.

I climbed out of the car and continued to argue.

"Excuse me, you shouldn't force me to do that!" I shouted. "Of course I was insecure! I was uncomfortable being half naked in front of a man I don't know - where the hell are we?" I frowned as I stared up at the building in confusion.

I love how your attention shifts so quickly.

"Where the hell do you think we are genius?"

I stared up at the large building with the words 'Lustrous' spread across the front of the building.

"Uh, the hotel?"

"Your intelligence amazes me." He mocked me as he started walking into the building holding my bags in his hands.

"Why?" I pressed him as I followed him through the gold plated doors.

The entrance was... sparkly - was really the only way to describe this. Everything was glistening, I almost wished I had sunglasses to stop the reflection and glare from all the surfaces. The reception area - to which Anthony was storming through at an uncatchable pace - was covered by what looked like a mirror fogged with a white cloud, it was shinny and looked very slippery but yet walking on it I didn't seem to be slipping at all.

Give yourself time; you've barely taken ten steps on the floor.

The reception desk was to the side, a simple black desk decorated with busy workers and some red roses in a vase. The main attraction of the place was no doubt the grand staircase with black and gold railings and a red carpet, behind it, a darkly rendered wall with the gold letters of 'Lustrous' spread across it.

"Because I live here." Anthony broke my period of admiration.

"Okay," I dragged out the word as I ran to catch up to him before he reached the elevator, tucked away on either side of the staircase. "I have a few questions but one at a time." I informed him. "You live in the hotel?"

He sighed deeply as he leaned forward and pressed the call button. "My family owns the majority of the company, I am the CEO of the company so it's convenient and a great way to sell it to the investors." He shrugged.

I paused for a moment as we entered the elevator. "I'm noticing convenience is a big thing for you?"

Anthony turned to face me. "You are really chatty today." His face was pulled together as he looked me over. Despite his pressure, I had left the shopping centre in the clothes I had came in with - including the beanie that he is threatening to burn. "Or perhaps someone is getting a little too comfortable?"

Bingo!

"Back to my questions." I shoved off his comment and focussed on the buttons as the flashed each floor we passed. "Why are we here?"

He shrugged. "I needed to pick up and drop off a few things."

The ping of the elevator drew my attention to the door.

Pick up?

I thought you would be more concerned with DROP OFF!

The doors opened and I stepped forward, letting Anthony cut in front of me as he walked toward the front door to the apartment and unlocked the door with a gold key.

I frowned. "Is gold your favourite colour or are you just obsessed with your precious like Gollum?"

Anthony straightened his shoulders and turned to face me, his body still blocking the door. "Gollum?"

Oh my god. He hasn't watched it. How can he have not watched it! It is a classic!

A classic that had you hiding your head behind a pillow every time an Ork appeared on screen.

They are an acquired taste.

And so are you!

I frowned deeply. Are you calling me an Ork?

I inferred it. There is a difference.

If I am an Ork then so are you!

You do realise you are fighting with yourself right?

"Sky!" Anthony called to me, his voice cutting into my inner conversation. "You coming?"

Reigning in my attention I looked up and saw the door was opened and Anthony was nowhere to be seen.

When did he leave?

While you were too busy insulting yourself.

Pushing the door open a little more I stepped through the door and marvelled at the sight in front of me.
