《Lustrous》Chapter 7: Section C Intimacy and Romance

Saying my goodbyes to Sandra Renner was a difficult task. I would smile and start to leave and she would only keep talking. I was sure it would be rude for me to just walk out mid-sentence but god, I was tempted. I was never one of those people who could just talk and talk or even the kind that thrived at public speaking – no I was more the type to hide in the locked bathroom stall until my class was over and just tell the teacher that I had gotten really sick.
I slid into the taxi and looked over my non-existent notes. Apart from Sandra making a few appointments for cake tastings and venue viewings, there was nothing of importance. I did however discover that the details of this so called 'marriage agreement' was being discussed between me and Renner so that was a positive.
The only positive in that meeting really? But hey, at least you didn't eat a fly.
I shuddered at the thought.
I looked through my diary and added in all the dates Sandra discussed with me and saw that I had a few small jobs coming up over the coming weeks. Maybe I should get this agreement over and done with today? At least then I can worry about other things.
To the building of Lust we go!
"Actually, can you take me to the Lustrous head office please?" I asked the driver giving him my new instructions causing him to make a U-turn. I gave the driver the address as the head office wasn't actually at the hotel and collected my things in the back of the taxi.
Getting out I took a moment to stare up at the big average styled office building and recalled the last time I came running out of those doors after I hit and burned the man I was now going to marry. It was strange how things all ways come back around.
I wonder, did you even break his nose? It looked fine last night. Maybe we can wipe that off your conscience? Hey Conscience!
While my inner self was busy trying to once again locate my conscience, I took the opportunity to enter. Going up in the elevator I came to a stop at the 'Lustrous Company Administration' floor and saw it was just the same as it had been at the beginning of the week – Deep French Puce coloured walls and offices busy and alive with movement. I wondered over to the first reception desk and recognised the lady behind the desk as the women who guided me up here only days ago.
"Hi." I smiled at her. "I need to speak with Mr Renner please."
She looked up at me from her computer screen, the recognition blooming in her eyes. "You do?" She frowned in confusion before quickly recovering her professional composure. "His reception is just through there." She nodded and smiled at me but I could still see the confusion in her eyes – I didn't blame her, a girl he interviewed only days ago coming back unannounced, it was strange.
I slowly turned around on my heel, thankful that my inner self was still preoccupied and opened the door to the narrow reception area just before Renner's office. The new assistant sat at her desk looking up with flirtatious eyes at Anthony as he leaned down and feed her another cheesy pick line that was enough to make me gag. Just as I had suspected, when they said I would have been good to keep him focussed, it wasn't a compliment.

I smirked wickedly as I came up with the perfect idea.
Swinging my hips I walked forward catching both their attentions. The assistant regarded me with confusion but the shock on Anthony's face was so priceless I wanted to pause and take a picture.
"Hi honey, I'm so sorry I'm late." I smiled sweetly as I reached him and rubbed my hand up his muscular arm before letting it rest on his cheek. "Your mother kept me extremely busy with the wedding plans."
He narrowed his bright eyes at me, clearly catching on to my motives as his assistant blushed in embarrassment, her eyes looking down in shame.
"You should see the church it is absolutely darling." I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from laughing.
Anthony, on the other hand, was fuming. He reached up and grabbed my wrist forcefully, pulling me behind him as he stormed into his office and slammed the door behind us.
"What the hell are doing?" He asked as he backed me up into the desk, his body blocking my exist and his height and stance attempting to intimidate me – but sadly I wasn't easily intimidated.
"How is that wedding ring working for you now buddy?" I smiled and patted his chest before spinning around and taking a seat in the guest chair.
"A lot better when I didn't have a monkey attached to it." He said, still standing behind me.
"Excuse me, I don't have a tail." I tilted my head and looked down at my nails. Maybe I should get a manicure or something?
"Then what's this?" He asked rhetorically, his voice a seductive whisper in my ear as he leant down and tugged hard on my ponytail making my mouth open in surprise and my head snap back.
"Ouch!" I slouched in my chair and held my hair. Renner chuckled as he walked around me, his hands now busy fixing his buttons on his suit jacket before he took the seat opposite me.
"What do you want Sky?" He sighed
"I was told to speak to you about this agreement thing?" I asked him pouting and twitching my nose a little.
"Yes, I am having a copy printed out for you now." He sounded bored of the conversation.
"Oh?" I was confused. Had I agreed to some proxy last night? I didn't think so. "But we haven't discussed anything."
"No?" He frowned but I had a feeling he was mocking me. "Oh well," he shrugged. "When it gets here, you sign it and don't complain or your daddy is just going to find you another rich boy to marry."
I was stunned. He was so blunt and such an asshole that I couldn't believe his face even fit in the room. He needed a good beating and I would be dammed if I let him order me around, after all thanks to my 'mentally ill' muttering I didn't work for him.
The door opened and his assistant hesitantly walked in with a collection of papers. She laid them down on the desk in between Renner and I was we both stared at each other, neither one of us backing down. I could see the steam rising from the papers telling me they were only fresh out of the printer and I itched to look through the pages but my challenging nature refused to let me break eye contact. Renner smirked as he leaned forward and pushed the papers closer towards me – not once breaking eye contact.

Taking a deep breath I picked up the warm papers and gave Renner one last glare before looking down and seeing the agreement. Here goes nothing...
'This agreement entails the marriage agreement between Anthony Levi Renner, here by known as 'The Husband' and Skylar Marie Martin, here by known as 'The Wife'.'
Well geez, so glad they put that in at the start, I never would have known! My inner self was back. Damn.
Both individuals agree to live together, under the same roof in a complex agreed upon by both parties.
Said parties are to receive the lifetime plan and schedule of the other and are expected to adjust their lifestyle to the other. (See Appendix one.)
No pets are to be purchased by either individual and bought into the living space. No exceptions.'
No pets? Who didn't like puppies? Was he allergic or something? That would be a great way to kill him if you ever needed to.
Both parties may work if they wish. If, in the event Children are produced 'The Wife' is too retire for a minimum of five years and provide full time care with the assistance of a nanny (if required) before returning to the workforce.'
Excuse me. Where the hell is his sacrifice?
'The Wife' will receive an allowance given each week by 'The Husband' This allowance is to be spent on anything 'The Wife' wishes provided it does not exceed the limit.
Any and all large purchases (See Appendix two) must be discussed between the couple and agreed upon or else the purchase is not to be made.
'The Wife' is disqualified from working in or around any companies owned or financed by 'The Husband' and is not allowed to interfere in any work proceedings.'
I take it he doesn't want you working for him. He is probably under the impression you'll just knock him out with your bag on a daily basis.
The couple will have 'date night' once a month. This is to be agreed upon by both parties at any given time. (See Appendix three for suitable options.)
'The Wife' shall accompany 'The Husband' to any and all functions and outings deemed acceptable by 'The Husband' and vice versa.
The couple shall display affection and intimacy towards one another in socially acceptable ways and at appropriate times, ie. Support, Attraction, Comfort, ect. (See Appendix four.)
'The Husband' is permitted to have one alternate sexual partner at a time, other than 'The Wife' who must remain faithful 'The Husband.''
Oh like hell!
I stopped there. I didn't need to read anymore to know that I was never signing this. Looking up I saw Renner waiting patiently for me to finish.
"Sign it." He all but ordered me.
"No thanks," I smiled and pushed the papers back towards him, enjoying just how quickly his face fell as he registered my words. "As you put it, I think I'll wait for the next 'rich boy' to come along."
Picking up my bag from the floor I left his office, being sure to slam the door shut as I walked out making his new assistant jump. "That asshole is all yours honey." I smiled at her and continued walking to the elevator. As I waited for my feet to hit the ground floor once again I pull out my phone and texted my father the news;
"Taxi!" I called once I got out of the building, waiting only a quick minute before one of the ugly yellow cars stopped for me. Sliding into the back seat I told the driver my address and relaxed into the seat. The taxi was about to pull out into traffic when the door opened and Anthony slid into the back seat next to me, making me move over. "What do mean no thanks?"
"Exactly that, no thank you." I rolled my eyes and apologised to the taxi driver.
"What is wrong with these terms?" He asked as he shoved the contract into my face once again.
"Uh well the fact that you are allowed to have one other sexual partner other than your so called wife at any given time while I must stay faithful!" I informed him, appealed. "If you get to mess around then so should I."
"We can change that."
My eyes widened as I turned around and gaped at him. "No."
"But you said..."
I held up my hand cutting him off "I know what I said but the fact is, you, no doubt have been treated for ten STDs in the last five years, I however would like to stay problem free in that area and so there is no way in hell I am agreeing to the whole bit on the side scenario."
"Fine, I will agree to those terms, provided you sign an agreement stating just how many times a week you have to give me sex – with a special clause in there saying that if I get bored then it's over." He rationalised with me.
"What kind of sick human being are you?" I asked thinking how the hell he could wake up in the morning.
No doubt it was with a hangover and a one night stand on his arm.
I hated men who slept around, so much so that I thought for a moment about castrating him here and now.
"One who doesn't want to spend the better part of his life trapped in uneventful boring sex." He answered truthfully – which surprised me.
"He is right, there is nothing worse, trust me I know." The Taxi driver put in his opinion from the front seat.
"Excuse me, a little privacy here." I snapped at the driver.
"If you wanted privacy you should have just stayed in the damn office." Anthony said dragging my attention back to our conversation.
"Why so you could hit on your new assistant who probably doesn't know the difference between a paper clip and a staple." I muttered as I crossed my arms and looked out the window deciding to just ignore him until I got to leave the car.
"You're just jealous I didn't give you the job." He muttered as he mirrored my actions.
