"Daddy!" Amelia screamed, surprising the intruder at how loud the six year olds voice could go. Her and her twin sister Addison were in their bedroom watching a film before bed when the door opened and a man dressed in all black with his face covered came running in. Shawn and Camila jumped up and ran to their daughters bedroom, worried for them.
"Amelia? Addison? You guys okay?" Camila shouted up as they made their way up the stairs.
The parents halted their steps and froze at the sight before them. The adorable funny six year old girl with brown wavy hair and gorgeous brown eyes was held with her back to the mans legs and a knife at her throat. Addison had run over and Camila took her downstairs before going back to the room.
"Daddy" Amelia whimpered
"Shut up!" The man yelled at her
"What do you want? Just don't hurt our daughter" Shawn pleaded
"I'll take what I want and when I'm done getting it all she will be returned"
"Okay okay, go and get whatever you want to take"
The man walked out the room, pulling Amelias arm when she tried to reach for her dad.
"Call the police" Shawn told Camila and handed her his phone. He slowly crept up behind the man who broke in the house and smashed his head against the wall, knocking him out instantly.
He quickly scooped Amelia up as she began to cry into his chest.
"Shhh, shh your okay now Amelia, I promise. I won't let anyone else hurt you"
"Where mummy?"
"Come on honey" he walked them into her bedroom where Camila had just hung up the phone.
"Oh darling, your okay I promise"
Amelias sobs became louder and harsher and Shawn knew that she was beginning to have a panic attack. So he knelt down on the floor where they were and took her small hands in his.

"Amelia baby, look at me, focus on me, that's it good girl, look put your hand here..." he said placing her hand on his heart with his own.
"You feel it beating inside?"
She nodded.
"Focus on that feeling and we're gonna breathe in...Hold it for a few seconds... and breathe out, good let's keep doing that and calm down before we get sick okay?"
"Okay" she sniffled, breathing along side her dad.
While they were doing that, Camila went to get Addison who was patiently waiting on the sofa.
"Is she okay mummy?" Addison asked concerned for her sister.
"She'll be okay honey" Camila reassured.
They walked up the stairs and into the bedroom where Shawn had Amelia curled up on his lap asleep. Shawn opened one of his arms and brought Addison into him.
"Are you okay baby?" He asks the older twin.
"I'm okay daddy"
"Okay, c'mon let's go and get a drink"
Shawn stood up still holding Amelia in his arms and Addison walked next to him holding her mums hand.
Shawn rubbed Amelias back as he felt her tense in his arms when they walked past the still unconscious man in the hall.
Addison sat on the seat at the breakfast bar with the help of Camila as they were the first ones In there.
Shawn followed and gently moved Amelia away from him and onto the chair but frowned when she gripped his shirt tighter.
"Honey I promise I'm not gonna go anywhere, I'll be right over there getting you a drink. You just sit there"
She looked around before looking at her dad and releasing her grip and getting comfy in her chair.
The silence they sat in was interrupted by a loud knock on the door. Shawn got up and walked towards the door and opened it to find the police. Shawn led them to the man who had begun to get up again. They arrested him and Shawn watched as an officer took him away and put him in the back of the car before coming back inside to ask questions.

An hour later Amelia and Addison were asleep on Shawn while he slept and Camila snapped a photo, relieved that they were all okay although she knew and Shawn that the girls would never be the same

The Cosmic Interloper
Synopsis: A cyborg transhuman escapes her corporate indenture and through unfathomably unlikely circumstances, she ends up in a fantasy world of full of unique magic, angry people with sharp implements, and the whole flavor-spectrum of divine entities. Hilarity ensues. Features: - No blue boxes or cultivation, this is not a LitRPG nor about martial arts - Hard-ish Sci-Fi meets hard-ish magic - Generally trying to keep this "rational" Rationale: My primary goal with The Cosmic Interloper is to write something that I myself would enjoy reading. Of course, that’s not the only motivation, but I think it’s the most important one for me to keep in mind, especially as the author. In fact, this whole story came about because after consuming oodles of fiction, I found myself craving a very specific type of story which I couldn’t find many examples of. Then I asked myself, “why not write it myself?” and here we are. Disclaimer: In general, while I’m not writing a comedy, I do intend for this story to be funny and a bit wacky or absurd. That said though, I am using this story as a vehicle to explore some potentially dark topics including (but not limited to) slavery, speciesism/racism, and existential questions of self, consciousness, and identity. Still, I’m going to leave the “traumatizing content” tags off, because I don’t feel that what I’ve written so far (or plan on writing) exceeds the threshold that would be necessary for me to tag it thusly. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way she views the world is not the objective truth (if such a thing even exists).

Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.

Tale of the mage hero [Completed]
so I've been into rising of the shield hero for a while now... a lot of things about it ALWAYS bugged me starting with the fact that the world functions like a game and the heroes are supposed to fight together in a party.... BUT WHERE'S THE ARCHMAGE?! THE BLATANT DISRESPECT TO THE MAGE CLASS IS REAL AND ANGERING! so I decided as a gamer who rather enjoys being a mage and healer, I'd rectify that. and other things. for all intents and purposes this is a self insert but I will be using my proxy OC that I use in my nutty fangirl daydreams. DON'T WORRY! I'M NERFING MY PROXY! this will follow the plot of the anime because..... I want to. and I'm..... LAZY~! and using the manga is too much trouble and the light novel is 800+ chapters long. So FUCK THAT! anyways if you read this and think it's lackluster then I want to see you try your hand at writing tate no yuusha fics! no that's not a challenge or insult it's just a desperate plea for more tate fics... we need some more variety! Alright I'm gonna be honest here. This story is laughably bad. So read at your own risk. The only reason I'm not revising it is because 1 I'm Lazy as fuck and 2 to serve as a lesson on what NOT to do for new writers. So like I said, read at your own risk.
