As Mirabel walked through the house with the basket of decorations loads of voices could be heard as she weaved her way through the crowd.
Accidentally bumping into people muttering a 'sorry' or 'excuse me' to them. She looked to see a staircase Casita was forming and Abuela's voice saying:
"Lift it higher, higher. Camilo we need another José,"
"José!" Camilo Said as he shape shifts into José.
"Luisa the piano goes upstairs," Abuela said making sure everything was in the right place for Antonio's gift ceremony.
"I'm on it!, oop careful sis!" Luisa said dropping the barrels she was holding then running to get the piano to where it needed to be almost bumping into Mirabel.
Mirabel continued on her way until a sudden gust of wind started to blow at her pushing her back.
"My baby's night has to be perfect, and it's not perfect and people are going to be coming!" Pepa says accidentally making a hurricane around her as she worries.
"Pepa amor the flowers, the flowers!" Félix says to his wife in an attempt to calm her whilst trying to make sure the decorations don't get destroyed.
Pepa makes the hurricane disappear after realising that she could have destroyed the decorations.
"Did someone say, flowers?" Isabela asks as she forms two flower covered vines to pick her up and bring her to the first floor of the house.
Mirabel scoffed at her sister's antics as everyone began cheering for the 'perfect' Madrigal child.
"Our angel, our angel!" Félix repeated.
"Please don't clap!" Isabela said dragging the attention to herself making a bouquet of flowers for her aunt.
Pepa thanked her as Isabela waved it off as if it was nothing sashaying her hair into her younger sisters face making flowers appear out of thin air.
"A little bit of sisterly advice, if you weren't always trying to hard you wouldn't get in the way," Isabel scoffed at Mirabel.
"Uh actually Isa this is called helping and I'm not in the way you ar-" Mirabel started before running into a greenery covered pillar.
She made her way into the kitchen where her mother was cooking.
"Whoa!" Julieta said noticing her daughter carrying a filled basket as she made her way to one of the counters excusing herself to get through.
"mi hija, you doing ok you don't have to over-do it," Julieta told her.
"I know mamá I just want to do my part like the rest of the family," she said struggling to pick up some of the items in the basket as her father came into the room.
"She's right amor first gift ceremony since yours lot of emotions," Agustín said putting his bloated hand on Mirabel's.
"Bee stings!" Mirabel warned her mother pulling her hand out from under his.

"And I've been there when me and your tio Félix married into the family, outsiders who had no gift never ever would. Surrounded by the exceptional it was easy to feel ✨unceptional✨!" Agustín joked helping with the items in the basket careful not to drop them with his bloated hands.
"Ok Papi!" Mirabel agreed with her father.
"I'm just saying I get it," Agustín said with empathy in his voice as Julieta pushed some food into her husbands mouth to heal the bee stings.
"Mira, if you ever want to talk," Julieta began.
"I've got to put out the stuff, the house isn't going to decorate itself," Mira said.
Casita's bunting slacked as they felt sad about what Mirabel said.
"Sorry, you could, you look great!" Mirabel said trying to get Casita to be happy again.
Casita's bunting lifted itself up straight happy that Mirabel said they looked great.
"Corason remember- yea remember- you have nothing to prove -have nothing to prove-" Julieta called after Mirabel as Agustín copied her words.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mirabel put outside of Abuela's door custom candle holders with a name and a design on them representing the members in the family.
She stepped back to look at the collection of photos with Abuela and a madrigal as a child at their ceremony outside their respective door.
"One hour!" Abuela announced shocking Mirabel out of her trance and accidentally knocking down Abuela's candle setting the mat on fire.
Mirabel hurried to put the fire out. Picking it up swiftly and smacking it against the floor whilst stomping it with her foot.
"Maybe you should leave the decorations to someone else?" Abuela suggested.
"Uh no I actually made these as a surprise! For yo-ooo," Mirabel showed Abuela the still on fire candle holder but quickly dropped it stomping it until the flame went out.
"Mirabel I know you want to help but tonight must go perfectly the whole town relies on our family, on our gifts, so the best way for some of us to help is to help is to step aside. Let the rest of the family do what they do best, ok?" Abuela explained.
Violent winds could be heard as Pepa walked on the other side of the railing.
"Pepa! You have a cloud!" Abuela informed her.
"I know mamá but now I can't find Antonio, WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!?" Pepa yelled back in frustration.
"Mamá be nice to Mirabel, ok? You know tonight will be hard for her," Julieta said to Abuela.
"If the gift ceremony dosen't go well this time tonight will be hard for us all," Mirabel heard Abuela warn Julieta as she walked to her 'room'.
Sitting down on her bed she looks out of the open window to the town below seeing towns people prepare. Her Tia Y/N could be seen walking towards a lake and she could hear Tio Félix yell for Antonio.
She opens the drawer below the window to reveal a box with multicoloured yarn wrapped around it. She pulled it out closing the drawer setting the present down on her lap.
Taking a deep breath in she says "everyone's looking for you," waiting for response before she starts again lowering the present to under the bed.
"This present will self-destruct if you don't take it in three...two...one- oop," she felt the present being grabbed from her hand.
She crawled under the bed where she found Antonio there staring at the present sadly.
"Nervous?" She asked the boy.
He didn't respond.
"You have nothing to worry about your going to get your gift and open that door and it's going to be the coolest ever I know it," Mirabel stated.
"What if it doesn't work?" Antonio asked quietly.
"Well in that impossible scenario you stay here in the nursery with me forever, and I get you all to myself," she joked.
"I wish you can have a door," Antonio wished.
"You know what, you don't have to worry about me! Cause I have an amazing family and an amazing house and an amazing you," Mirabel told him.
"And seeing you get your special gift and your door that's going to make me way more happy than anything!" She sighed "but alas I am going to miss having the worlds best roomy!" She said as she pulled the gift in front of Antonio.
He slipped the yarn off of the box and opened the lid to see a plush jaguar.
"I know your an animal guy, and I made this so when you move into your cool new room, you always have something to snuggle with!" Mirabel explained slightly hugging Antonio.
Casita's floorboards began moving making the two aware it had something to say. Casita quickly moved a clock to show it was time but the clock fell on its side and Casita made their floorboard fling it up to sit right.
Mirabel nodded their head making Casita move the clock away.
"Alright mi primo you ready?" She asked.
Antonio nodded and Mirabel began to crawl out from under the bed.
"Sorry I Need to get one more squeeze!" Mirabel said quickly grabbing Antonio's smaller frame hugging him.
Casita started to move the floorboards up and down to roll them out from under the bed. They both laughed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Someone lit two sparklers and gave them to the kids to enjoy themselves with running off onto a wagon. As everyone in the village walked towards la Casa Madrigal candles littering the houses.
Luisa saw someone on a donkey and immediately went to give them a ticket helping them off and then putting a ticket on the donkey. Picking the donkey up along with another donkey tied to a wagon.
Camilo greeted people at the entrance turning into them to give them a hug.
"Cecilia up top!" Camilo said before jumping up turning into the girl then high-fiving her before turning back.
Casita moved the tiles at the main entrance to give off the illusion it was playing music. Cecilia moved her hand up to high-five the tiles before looking in.
She saw people partying and the candle up top on a window ledge. Enticed by all of this she was shocked when the tiles under her fathers feet moved to bring them to where hats were being kept. Her father put her down before she threw her hat onto one of the tiles and Casita moved the hat into its spot.
~~~
Casita moved tiles to make corn on the cob nice and evenly cooked before flinging them up onto someone's plate.
Luisa walked with food in her hands with two kids on her back she looked back confused but decided not to take them off as it didn't effect her.
Mariano took a piece of the food Luisa was holding looking at Isabela playing with kids as his mother fixed his hair.
Two kids walked up to the new staircase that Casita made earlier that lead to Antonio's glowing door ready for his gift to be unveiled.
The two looked at eachother and began climbing up the stairs before Casita made the steps tilt downwards like a slide.
They laughed before going again, Casita launched the two in the air before tilting the steps again making them more like a slide again.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Mirabel and Antonio go down the actual stairs of the house and Antonio's family notices them.
"Ha, ha, ha there you are!" Félix Said happy that his son was found.
"Look at you all grown up!" Pepa says a cloud of rain forming above her head.
"Pepa amor your going to get him all wet," Félix warned Pepa making the cloud disappear.
"Go and make your Papa proud!" Camilo said as he shape shifts into his father but a shorter version and mocking his voice.
"I don't sound like that," Félix said about his impression.
"I don't sound like that!" Camilo mocked.
"Abuela says it's time," Dolores informs the rest.
"We'll be waiting at your door," Pepa says before walking off.
"Ok, ok guam, guam, guam!" Félix says hushing everyone out.
"Ok, ok guam, guam, guam!" Camilo mocks.
"Stop!" Félix told Camilo.
"Alright I'm done!" Camilo says while getting picked up by his father.

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
