《Hunting His Prey》Chapter 8

The trail ends at the skid marks on the road. When I look at the area, I can see the railing is completely demolished, telling me the girls are on the side of the mountain somewhere. How the hell did that happen? I growl out the words in my head. Who the fuck knows, but we need to help them. I can smell a lot of blood. I had forgotten entirely about being in my wolf form until I heard Ethan answer my question.
Looking to my side, I can see him and Matty are sniffing the air. My brain is in so much of a fog I want to kick myself for not doing that first myself. I'm going to call for Fang and Hunter. His yellow eyes make their way to me, asking permission to call the last two wolves of our pack. If I'm being honest, I couldn't give a damn what they do, my ass is going to help Penny.
He must see my answer clear as day, because without another word he pulls his head back and howls out into the night. Matty following suit. Knowing my pack will take care of whatever is going on up here, I jump down the side of the mountain. It takes me all of five seconds, to see the girls' car, it had hit a tree, that being the only thing stopping them from driving down the entire side to the bottom.
Thank goodness for that tree, who knows what would have happened had they made it all the way down. I take a deep breath through my nose to calm my nerves, the smell of Penny's fresh blood has my legs moving that much faster. I can see her deep emerald eyes, looking out the back windshield. She catches sight of me, and the first thing I see on her face are many cuts, and pieces of glass sticking out of her beautiful porcelain skin.
The second thing I can not only see but smell as well is the fear pouring off of her. She bites her lip, as a lone tear falls slowly down her cheek. Her emotions are getting the best of her at this very moment. Once I make it to the back of the car, I change my appearance. That way I can use, my full strength as a human and pry open her passenger door. Walking to her side, I watch as she wipes away her tears.

Studying the door at her side, I see its so jammed it'll be easier if I just break the window. "Cover you face," Her brows furrow with confusion as she looks up at me. "I have to break the glass of the window, and I do not want anymore to get imbedded in your skin." She nods her head solemnly, turns to her human friend, telling her what I have said. Once both girls have their hands and arms protecting their faces and heads, I throw all my might into the punch with my fist.
The sound of the glass breaking makes her hiccup with a quiet sob, that my dear Penny can't hold back. "Hey, little wolf it's going to be okay." When she keeps her face hidden from my view beneath her hand, I find it irritates the hell out of me. "Penny, look at me." I command of her. Ever so slowly she drops her hand to look at me. I can't hold back, not touching her is making me antsy. My skin feels as though its on fire.
I place my hand below her chin, rubbing her cheek with my thumb. "Listen to me little wolf of mine, I am not going to let anything else happen to you tonight." I look her dead in the eye, all playfulness set aside. Showing her the ferocity behind my words. I mean every word I say to her right now. Ever so slightly, she nods her head at me, showing she understands.
"Now, I need you to climb over this window and into my arms." She looks from me to the window. I follow her line of sight, seeing just what she's looking at. The window is broken, but there's still shards on the side. "Hand me that sweater behind you." She does as I ask, and I wrap it around my arm. I place my arm in the hole in the window, I break the rest of the glass off all around the window.
"There, now get your ass over here." I don't mean to sound angry, but I need her out of this car as soon as possible. Seeing my mate in this predicament, is causing me to see nothing but red. I want to tear the throat out of someone. She looks over to her friend and looks back at me "Not until you get Claudette first." A growl works its way up my throat and out of my mouth.

Gaining both girls attention. Her friend, Claudette's eyes are wide, while Penny sits there with her arms folded over her chest, glaring at me. "I mean it Penny." My voice comes out deathly quiet. She says nothing, only raises an eyebrow. The stubborn little wolf isn't going to give in until I do as she asks.
Laying my head back, looking up at the sky, I close my eyes and take a couple breaths. Cracking my neck from side to side to loosen up my joints, I look at her once more. "Fine," I bite out at her as I make my way around the vehicle. I'm so pissed off; I don't bother with the window. I simply grab a hold of the door and pull with all my might. Ripping the door clean off the hinges.
Claudette's wide eyes go from the door that is now in my hand, to my very naked body. I have forgotten about my nudity until I see where her eyes go. If I thought they were wide before, it was nothing to how they are now. "Holy shit! Is that a cobra?" She says more to herself than either of us as she bites her bottom lip with her teeth. When her eyes make their way back to my face, I can see the seduction hidden deep within.
I give her my most devilish smile, "I promise he won't bite you." I give her a wink, causing a low growl to come from the passenger side. She looks from me to Penny and throws her head back on a laugh. "Calm down girl. I'm only playing." She touches Penny's shoulder with her hand and gives her a playful shove. "Here, I cover my eyes so I can't see your man naked." She places both hands tightly over her eyes.
I see Penny roll her eyes, as she grumbles under her breath. Saying something along the lines of I'm not her man. I want to tell her how wrong she is, but I don't have the time right now. I reach for Claudette and swing her clear off her seat and over my shoulder. "Don't worry my eyes are still closed." She yells to Penny. As her arms hold onto my hips so tightly, I can feel her nails digging into my skin.
I go to turn, so I can make my way to the passenger side now that I have her friend, but Penny stops me mid motion. "Take her up to the road so I know she is safe." I bend to look at my little wolf. "Don't look at me like I'm crazy." She huffs at me as her chest puffs out. "You have lost your mind if you think I'm going to leave this vehicle with you still trapped inside."
She opens her mouth to say something when the wheels of the car groan out. She looks at the tree that is in front of her where the windshield used to be. "Just hurry please. The tree is breaking." The sound of true fear coming from her mouth has me not thinking about it, simply running as fast as my legs will carry me up the mountain.

Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent

Amir: A Short Horror Story
"My throat became dry; my tongue felt like sandpaper scraping against the top of my mouth. My mind became fuzzy. I had no chance of survival against this, this thing, and It was toying with me. It seemed to see the fear in my eyes and laughed, the metal sounding voice screeching like nails on a chalkboard.
