《Hunting His Prey》Chapter 5

I couldn't help myself; I usually don't go for the whole stereotype of playing with your prey when you go on a hunt, but when it comes to Penny all bets are off. She's always brought the animal out in me. I don't just mean my wolf; I'm talking the animalistic part of me that imagines throwing her down and showing her the best time of her life.

When we were children, it wasn't sex as we hadn't even known what that was, but she stirred strong emotions within me that I even used to tell off her asshole father. Although, the man is the Alpha of our pack, and could obliterate me, I never cared. I still mouthed off. Hell, I still do, the man had another picked out for his daughter to marry. Some stupid little shit from our brethren pack on the west coast.

Knowing Penny, that's why she ran, she never liked having her life planned out for her by anyone. Good on her because if I had come back from training for all these years, and found her married to someone else. Well lets just say I would be outcast for sure, I wouldn't have cared in the slightest. I would have charged in there, my best friends beside me, fighting our way to get my woman.

Facts are she has always been mine, there has never been any doubt. I didn't train as hard, make the top of every field not to get my woman at the end of this. Her father thought he was clever, his daughter outsmarted and outwitted him. That thought brings a salacious smile to my lips. Lucky for him she did, otherwise he would be dead. I'm no longer the little pup that he and my father can bully and beat.

I'm much bigger than him now, meaning I could kill him with one swat of my paw in wolf form. The only reason he's still breathing is because Penny was smart enough to take off, if she hadn't and she was forced to marry someone she didn't love. I would have made them all pay on my return.

When I go out to kill, I don't make it quick. I would make sure they felt the pain before they took their last breath. Earlier tonight, it was easy to track her, I could smell her lavender lotion and shampoo as well as her natural scent from over twenty miles away. It's been her favorite since she was little, and her mother first introduced it to her.

When her mother passed away, it's the one thing she insisted her father buy. She was always so shy and timid around people, it was so much worse around her father and his most trusted men, but when her mother was no longer here, she grew a bit of a backbone when it came to memories of her. Those were the times that girl would make me proud.

Closing my eyes, I think about the scent of fear that emanated from her skin and the wide-eyed look she had when she saw my wolf for the first time in eight years. Even throughout all these years she still remembers who my wolf is and what he looks like. I hear him howling inside my head and he paces back and forth now. Insisting I go on the chase, he wants her wolf as bad as I want the woman.

In time, we cannot pressure them too much. They are still fragile. He huffs at me causing a laugh to bubble up in my throat. "What the fuck are you laughing at?" Popping one eye open I look over at my best friend Ethan. He's looking at me with an eyebrow raised and his arms folded over his chest. "Just trying to calm down the beast is all." I see him nod his head in understanding.

Ethan and Penny haven't met yet. I only met him when I got sent away for training. I guess you could say he was a nuisance on his own father as well. He's cocky, a smartass, and arrogant. Probably why we became so close. "Anyone want to fill me in here?" I hear Matty ask from behind me. The kid was the outcast wherever he went, so Ethan and I decided to take him under our wing.

"I say she's had a good enough head start. Who wants to join me on a run?" I look at the two of them, both have a sly smile on their lips. "I'm all in. This is fun." Matty cracks his neck from side to side. His adrenaline pumping hard through his body. "Let's not keep our prey waiting any longer then."

The three of us walk right through the crowd, me ignoring all the eyes of the women on us. That's how it always is wherever we go. Both bust my balls all the time because I haven't been with anyone yet. Always asking what my problem is? Telling me I could have any woman I want, but that's the thing. I only want one.

We walk out the door and into the dark hallway. The young woman is standing behind the counter, twirling her hair in a seductive way as she watches us walk by. I briefly hear Ethan say a little something to her, but I pay them no mind. My focus is entirely on Penny. Her and the woman she's with have just made it to their car. I can smell them and a hint of exhaust in the air when I focus on her.

The fairytales about Werewolves are way off base when it comes to things. For instance, we can turn into our wolf form every day if we so wish. The only thing the full moon does for us is heighten everything. Not only that, but when we grow close with someone, human and werewolf alike, we imprint on that specific person. Meaning we can relate with them telepathically as well as dreamscape with one another. Over the years I have done that every night with Penny. She probably doesn't know that I'm there, and she's just been simply dreaming. The visions she has been having, they can happen. She has the same gifts her mother did when she was alive. Her father kept that girl so far in the dark about what she is capable of. Truth be told I cannot wait to show her everything.

Not to worry though, I'm back and he has given me permission to claim her once I have her in my grasp for good. Tonight, I'm just sending a message to her. I will be coming for her permanently real soon and brining her back home. With that thought, we walk out to the woods behind the club, and change into our wolves. He's excited to be set free, but I still must hold him back some. If it were up to my wolf, he would bite and claim her tonight.

As we begin to run, I get an eerie feeling running through my veins. Something is wrong, I can smell a strong scent of fear emanating from her. Not the kind of excitement fear that happens when I'm around. This is different, she is flat out terrified. This causes me to run faster and harder through the trees. Not caring in the least I'm leaving Ethan and Matty behind. When I get a scent of Penny's blood everything in my vision turns red. She's bleeding and now I'm beyond pissed off!
