《A Twist to Our Futures (Killua X OCs X Gon)》13th Hunter Chairman Election - Chapter 40

We had finally reached the hospital, where there was an empty parking lot and a building constructed for the sole purpose of accommodating the injured Gon and Lizzy waiting for us. Some of our friends stood guard at the area - Knuckle, Palm, Meleoron, Ikalgo, Bisky, Goreinu, and a few butlers. A familiar bald ninja was there and so was a short and stocky woman wearing a hat.

"Anyone inside?" Amane asked one of the butlers.

"Only Tsubone and Canary." He replied.

She drove the car into the building and drove through the hallways and stopped at a corner.

"How's Master Alluka?" She asked as she got out of the car.

"She's still asleep. I'll wait 'till she wakes up." Killua replied, getting out of the car next. I was the last one to get out.

We saw the old woman and the dark-skinned girl standing before us and walked to the door next to them. When we entered through the door, we saw a ventilator that kept our friend alive and breathing. The room was dark and had nothing but the ventilator and a monitor. Killua and I sat down on a bench while the butlers stood next to each end of the bench. Alluka was sleeping on her brother's leg.

Hang on, you guys. Just a few moments before Killua and I save you two.

I looked at the sleeping girl and smiled when Killua's hand stroked her hair. I heard her snore quietly and softly. She had been exhausted from healing Tsubone's hand earlier. I wondered when she would wake up to heal our friends.

"So, we finally made it." Killua started.

"Yeah. After all that we've been through yesterday and this morning. I can't believe it. We'll have our friends back." I replied, looking down at my lap hopefully.

"Right. And we'll make them sorry for twisting our arms with their reckless decisions."

I hummed in agreement. The ventilator noises made my arms shake a bit. But by looking at Alluka's peaceful face, I calmed down. One thing concerned me though. Tsubone was watching us, which meant Illumi and the rest of his family had to be watching as well. They could see Alluka's every move and could possibly hear every word we say to her. I didn't like being watched, especially on live video. Killua's family was rich, so they could afford any technology they needed. They could watch me for as long as they liked. They could tell if I was a good or bad influence to Killua. They could gather information on my abilities, strengths and weaknesses, and my personal life, and use those to their advantage.

I stayed silent for a half hour, pondering about what I would say to Lizzy after she recovered from her coma. It was true that I was going a bit too far on explaining why she couldn't help us take out Pitou's puppets back when we were in East Gorteau, and I knew it was my fault she ended up in the condition she was in right now. I kept worrying and worrying about her when she went missing in the palace and never expected her to give it her all on defeating Pouf and the King. Pouf ended up dead, but the King survived, and from what I heard from Palm and Ikalgo, later died from some kind of poison. I wasn't proud of her achievement, and what it cost her was all of her Nen. She put herself in a burden, and I didn't know how much longer that burden could keep her alive. I needed Nanika to save her so I could express my regretful words to her and mend my relationship with her.

My eyes landed on the dark-haired girl as soon as she started shuffling around. She sat up and rubbed her eyes before turning to Killua.

"Ah, hi, big brother." She said wearily.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" He asked.

"Uh-huh." She replied and looked around the room. "Where are we?"

"In a hospital. A friend of mine is here, and he's very sick." He told her, and she stared at the curtains that surrounded Gon's bed. "If I can, I want to make him feel better again. His girlfriend is very sick, too, so I want both of them to feel better. That's why we're here."

There was a brief silence as she fixed her gaze on the bed.

"Then, you want me to switch with Nanika?" She asked. There was no answer from him, and she puffed up her cheeks, upset. "No fair! When will I ever spend time with you?"

"Don't worry. We're gonna be together from now on. That's a promise." Killua reassured her. She only gave him a questionable stare. "Please."

A frown formed on my face, and I felt really bad for Alluka. Nanika was almost always awake when Alluka was asleep. When we got out of Kukuroo Mountain, Nanika was awake, giving Killua a kiss on the cheek. She requested a fingernail from Tsubone. Alluka was awake when we were in the car and when Illumi attacked us and crashed it. Both Alluka and Nanika were asleep in the airship, and when we confronted Illumi on our way to the hospital, Tsubone fulfilled three requests, and Nanika took over Alluka's body and granted Killua's wish to heal her hand. Nanika fell asleep and woke up as Alluka here in Gon's hospital room. Nanika was awake for the majority of the mission, and Alluka had less time to spend with Killua.

"Yeah, I'll do it." Alluka emitted dark aura and closed her eyes as she began to switch from herself to Nanika. After she was finished, her face became pale white and both her eyes and mouth turned pitch black. Killua stood up and took her hand, and the girl and I stood up as well. The three of us began moving toward the bed where Gon was resting. We moved the curtains out of the way and stood beside it.

I cast an agitated gaze at the bandages covering Gon's face. There was a mask over his mouth that let him breathe all the oxygen he needed to survive. My breath shook, and I felt my heart thump in my chest as I thought of how he ended up like this.

"Hand. Hand." Nanika said, reaching out for Gon's hand.

Killua slid his hand under the bloody blanket and searched for it. When he pulled it out, I was horrified. His entire arm was shriveled up like a fruit that had lost its moisture under the scorching sun. Blood surrounded it and was on the bandage covering his elbow. Tears were fighting their way out of my eyes as I stood here staring at the horrible sight that scared the shit out of me. Oh my freaking God. If Lizzy were here to see this, she would absolutely break down, blaming herself for everything that happened to him. He would be a reminder of our parents when we lost them, all bloody without their heads, murdered by a Phantom Troupe member who we had murdered for revenge. Since he was the one who wished this on himself, there would be no reason for revenge. He would die if Nanika didn't heal him in time.

Killua gritted his teeth out of shock and looked like he was about to cry his heart out. His best friend, whose body was maimed after what he did to kill Pitou, was haunting him while in his comatose state. He couldn't imagine what would have happened if he didn't save him from Pitou's attack in time. He didn't want him to die like Kite did in their fight. In fact, he didn't want him and Lizzy, his very first friends he made back in the Hunter Exam a year ago, to die and leave him and me by ourselves. They meant a lot to him, and they made his life better every day.

"Please, Nanika. Heal my friend Gon." He desperately said, not wanting to see him like this much longer.

"'Kay." She went to pick up the shriveled up hand and her hands glowed a white light. As soon as she touched it, they stopped glowing. Then, the light spread throughout the room for a moment before it became intense. I gasped and widened my eyes in shock at this unbelievable power. I had never felt anything like this before. This power...I bet Illumi wanted it for himself, and his family had to be watching this right now.

My eyes stayed wide open as Nanika continued to heal Gon. I watched with astonishment as his arm was slowly regaining moisture while Nanika remained in contact with him. I began to think about our adventures together, when we first took the Hunter Exam, when we fought at the Heavens Arena, when we participated in the auction in Yorknew City, when we played Greed Island, when we traveled in the NGL with Kite, up until now. The memories I had were lingering in my mind as I viewed the healing of my friend.

The light began to dim, and eventually, Nanika had finished healing him. Her face returned to normal, and she turned to Killua.

"Killua, how did I do?" She asked.

Killua was silent as he waited for Gon to move. Suddenly, his hand jerked and his body tilted upward. I gave a light gasp as I watched him take off the bandages on his face.

"You were amazing, Nanika." Killua replied, then he took my hand and walked me out of the room before Gon could even take a glance at us. The butlers followed us, and Nanika fell asleep.

"We can't tell Gon I was the one who saved him. So all we have to do is wait for Alluka to wake up again so she can heal Lizzy." Killua stated.

"And how long will that be?" I asked.

"Alluka needs the amount of sleep a normal person would need. That would be eight hours." He replied.

"Eight hours?! I can't wait that long!" I snapped.

"I don't know how much longer Lizzy can hold on. We just have to hope she'll make it."

I was stunned by his response. How could I be sure she would still be alive after eight hours? I could not wait that long, hoping she didn't breathe her last. My eyes began to water, and eventually I broke down crying, covering my face with my hands. I didn't care if the butlers were watching me. They should care about my feelings.

I felt a pair of hands on my shoulders, and I uncovered my face to see Killua with a compassionate look.

"If you want, I can command Nanika to heal her now, even if she's not fully recovered." He told me, taking me aback.

"Can you really do that?" I asked, my voice wobbly.

"I don't know if it will work. Nanika would be really exhausted. Let's wait a while before I can wake her up." He said.

I stared at his ocean blue eyes filled with warmth, my heart rate increasing every second I looked into them. I eventually nodded, and he let go of my shoulders and picked up the sleeping girl next to him. We all got in the car, and Amane drove through a few more hallways before stopping at a corner. We got out of the car and walked to Lizzy's room, where she lied in her bed with the ventilator keeping her alive in this world. Killua and I sat down on a bench, and Alluka slept on her brother's leg.

We stayed silent most of the time, until I spoke what was on my mind.

"Killua. If you can issue commands to Nanika, does that mean I can, too?" I asked.

He sighed. "You haven't been very close to both Alluka and Nanika, so it's not possible for you to issue commands. Only I have that special privilege. If you were the one who commands Nanika to do something, you would suffer the same consequences of the last wish that was supposed to be given. The command itself would not affect the requests."

I felt like breaking down again, but I thought of another thing and said it out loud. "Then let me make the wish."

"Huh?"

"Let me make the wish so I can save Lizzy!" I said, standing up.

"Wait. You're not going to—"

"I am! I'm going to fulfill three of the requests Nanika throws at me!"

Killua was shocked by my response, and I was going to for real. And it was the least I could do to help her out.

"The last wish you made was for healing. You said that Nanika never made a cruel request to anyone in return, right? So I should be fine, unless you have something else to add on to that."

But he didn't say anything else. I turned to Alluka and stared at her sleeping form. "You can wake her up now."

He was lost in thought for a while, then he began to shake her gently. "Wake up, Alluka."

The girl opened her eyes and yawned as she sat up. I stood in front of her and watched her rub her eyes wearily.

"Big brother. Where are we?" She asked with tiredness in her voice.

"Still at the hospital. I want you to help my friend heal her sister. Please." He told her. She stared into his eyes for a moment.

"Okay." She stood up and I took her hand. I moved toward the bed and stopped when I was near the curtains surrounding it.

"Alluka." I said, desperate to save Lizzy. "My name is Lynn. I am ready to do anything you want me to do for you. Please, tell me what you want."

The little girl gave me an innocent stare before parting her lips in a big smile. "Okay, Lynn, pat my head."

Finding that request easy enough for me, I placed my hand on her head and gave her some head pats. She giggled, and I felt like I was patting Lizzy's head for a second. When I was done, Alluka gave me a second request.

"Hey, Lynn! Fly me up high!"

I accepted and put my hands on her hips, then I carefully lifted her up in the air. She smiled as I threw her up gently and caught her a few times. I forced a smile after I put her down, fulfilling the second easy request.

"Lynn, give me a hug!"

All three of the requests were easy to fulfill. Killua was right. I felt ashamed of myself for using Alluka like a machine. But healing Lizzy would be the very last wish Nanika could grant me. After that, she would never come out again.

"Yes, of course." I said and wrapped my arms around her, and she hugged back, giggling and resting her chin on my shoulder. I felt a pang of guilt as I kept her in my embrace, with Killua probably thinking I was anything like his family when it came to Alluka and wish granting.

When I parted from her, dark aura emitted around her. I had fulfilled three of the requests, so Nanika was awake to grant my wish. Taking her hand again, I walked past the curtains and showed her the badly injured Lizzy, whose face was bandaged like Gon's was. The only difference was that it was more bloody than his face ever was. I wasn't ready to see what her body looked like after hours of having all of the Nen wasted. But nevertheless, I had to give Nanika her hand in order to heal her.

"Nanika, I wish for my sister Lizzy to be healed. Please!" I spoke my wish clearly and urgently.

"'Kay." She replied, and then she reached her hand out over the bed. "Hand. Hand."

I took a deep breath and reached into the covers to feel something unusual. I pulled out Lizzy's hand and gave a sharp gasp of horror when I saw how dark and withered it looked when almost all of her life energy was drained out of her. There was a lot of blood around her mangled arm and on the blanket. Tears were forming in my eyes, and only a few managed to escape.

Nanika grabbed the hand and began to heal her, the white light glowing around her hands for a brief moment before spreading throughout the entire room. I sniffed and wiped my eyes to watch the healing, the feeling of hope building up in me. Her arm was slowly turning back to its normal, healthy state while in contact with Nanika. I couldn't believe what was happening. I was going to get my sister back. All the trouble I had been through during the mission really paid off at the end. When there was time, I wanted to tell her everything that had been bothering me since she used up all of her Nen.

I wanted her and I...to be together again.

I fluttered my eyes open to see nothing but darkness, and I sat up and felt my face to realize it was covered in bandages. Finding the end, I pulled them off and breathed in some air. I looked to see if anyone was around, but no one was here.

Where am I?

Then I looked down to see that I was on a hospital bed, and it had a lot of blood on it. Beside it, there were some machines that recorded data on my condition and made beeping noises. I noticed something bandaged to my arm, and I carefully pulled it out, wincing a bit at the slight pain. I was confused of what it was. Maybe something to keep track of my movements, I thought.

I wondered where my friends could be, so I disconnected myself from the machines and hopped down to the floor. I did some stretches before walking out the door to a hallway. When I found the exit, I walked out the automatic doors and saw a couple of familiar faces waiting for me. Upon laying their eyes on me, their expressions became ecstatic.

"Hey, you guys. What's going on?" I asked, and suddenly, they all cheered, and a certain blonde woman wrapped her arms around me.

"LIZZY! YOU'RE OKAY!" She screamed, and I slightly smiled.

"Hey, Bisky." I said, hugging her back.

"We're so glad to see you in good health again." The man with dark and spiky hair said.

"Oh. Hey, Goreinu." I said, remembering him from Greed Island.

"Man, you got me so freaking worried! You shouldn't do a single damn thing like that ever again, you hear me?!" I heard Knuckle yell at me, and I sheepishly chuckled.

"Knuckle. Everyone." I looked at the Extermination Team members and felt happy they were there for me.

"Lizzy! How ya doin'?" A bald guy in a ninja outfit came up to me and smiled, and I tilted my head in confusion.

"Uh, who are you?"

"EH?! You don't remember me?! The one who beat up Gon in the Final Phase of last year's Hunter Exam?! Do you not remember that time?!" He shouted, and I thought I remembered him.

"Oh, yeah! You're that bald-headed ninja who doesn't stop yammering!" I said, pointing at him.

A tick mark appeared on his left temple. "My name is Hanzo! And don't refer to me as a yammering bald head! Or else I will chop your legs off!"

The threat only amused me and made me chuckle delightfully. "You never change, you know that?"

That got him to cool down and stare at me like an idiot. I kept my charming smile until I heard a familiar voice call my name.

"Hey, Lizzy!"

I perked up at the voice and everyone moved out of the way to let me see the person who called me. As soon as I saw him, my smile grew wide and my eyes became lively. Not wanting to wait for him to come closer, I took off running to him.

"Gon!"

I ran so fast and threw myself at him, and I ended up knocking him down. I laughed as I wrapped my arms around him and laid my head on his chest until I cried tears of joy.

"Lizzy." The boy said, his voice sounding content.

"Gon." I said, lifting my head to look him in the eyes. I planted a kiss on his forehead, making him giggle. "I'm so happy to see you again."

I heard people behind me mutter some things and heard, "Awwww..." from Bisky. Finally, I could be happy again.

After riding a taxi cab to the location of the election, Morel rushed to the doors and burst them open, shouting Leorio's name across the room. When he caught his attention, Morel gave him a thumbs-up. Gon and I looked at each other before stepping through the doors to the election room. I felt awkward being seen by so many people in the room in my hospital gown. I just placed my hands behind my back and gave a somewhat charming smile to the audience. I could see Leorio with a staggered expression staring at us.

"Gon! Lizzy!" He screamed and threw the microphone down to the floor before jumping off stage, sobbing loudly. "Damn it! I was so worried about you two!"

Smiling, I jumped up along with Gon and spread my arms out.

"Leorio!" We shouted in unison and the three of us share a hug together in midair.

"I'm so glad! You...You guys don't have any idea!" Leorio cried before he fell down to the floor carrying me and Gon.

"Was it really all that bad?" Gon asked.

"Bad didn't even come close to it." He cheerfully replied, swinging us around in his arms.
