《A Twist to Our Futures (Killua X OCs X Gon)》13th Hunter Chairman Election - Chapter 38

After Killua called Morel to ask how Gon and Lizzy were doing, he explained everything to me. A lot of people came by to visit them and talk to them, but there was no response from either one of them. Morel suggested to use a Nen Exorcist to lift the burden from them and wait until he and the others back at the hospital could resort to more riskier methods. Killua told him he could save them his own way until Gotoh, the guy who played that coin game with me and my friends back when we were trying to rescue Killua, interrupted the call. Killua didn't tell Morel anything secret, but Gotoh knew he told him that the healing was guaranteed, which was something about Alluka's power. Killua's father was pissed off, so he put him on level 4. Level 4: the target's words and actions were restricted, and to enforce this, multiple butlers and family members had to accompany the target. If a restriction was violated, the target would be immediately captured and sent back home. The level then increased to level 5, where the target could not leave the estate, and if the target stepped outside of the Zoldyck property, they would be captured.

Gotoh also told him the three rules for protecting family secrets. One, no talking or exchanging items with somebody else without permission. We couldn't carry any communication devices, and he already took them away. Two, Killua had to stay within one meter of Alluka at all times. And three, he was forbidden to speak to any outsiders about Alluka's power. Killua explained to me that his father did not count me as an outsider and thought of me as a good, trustworthy friend who would make sure he followed the rules. However, I knew some of the rules of Alluka's ability, and if I were to pass on the information to someone else, that meant I would be captured and immediately killed along with the person I told everything about. That way, no one else would know about her powers. I was worried at first, but if we were going to save our friends, I had to keep that in mind. If either one of us broke the rules, I would be killed, and Killua would be returned home. I really was risking my life to save them.

We met up with Gotoh and Canary, and Gotoh seemed to remember me back when my friends and I were playing the coin game with him, and I remembered when he threatened us that we would never see Killua again if all of us were out. That memory lingered in my head, and I was irritated around him.

"I understand why I'm here, but may I ask why Canary is here?" Gotoh asked.

Killua pointed a finger at him. "Idiot! Alluka is a girl! There's no way I'm letting a stupid dude like you take care of her needs!"

"There is nothing to worry about." Someone spoke from ahead of us, and we turned to see a tall and bulky old woman with two pigtails. She was wearing a black suit and tie and a monocle on her right eye. There was another woman who was younger than her with long black hair and also wearing a black suit and tie.

"We're happy to accompany you as well, Killua dear." The old woman said as she and the younger woman moved closer to us. "Master Silva believed that two butlers might not be enough, so he sent us to help ease his mind."

"Tsubone!" Killua exclaimed.

They stopped right in front of us, and I looked up at the old woman's forbidding face, her appearance freaking me out a bit.

"It's fine. I won't do anything stupid at level 4." Killua casually told her.

The old woman named Tsubone narrowed her eyes at him. "Listen, Killua dear. I'm not as lenient towards you as your father and Gotoh. Any violation, big or small, and you will be sent back home. And your brown-haired friend will receive the death penalty. Resist, and I will knock you out. You should keep that in mind. Are we clear?"

"Uh, yes! Yes, ma'am!" He cried.

I broke into a cold sweat by the sound of her voice. She was way scarier than Grandma Millie when she was about to scold me and Lizzy for a stupid thing we did back at home. She even looked bulkier than her when she was in her 40s. No wonder Killua wouldn't act rude and scornful around her.

Just then, Alluka stepped in front of Killua and stretched her arms out in defense. "Don't bully my big brother, okay?"

Tsubone smiled. "I'm sorry. Alluka dear is so kind, aren't you, sweetie? I won't do it again."

Talk about common sense! This old lady is tough on the outside, but soft on the inside! She always acts on the soft side with younger children!

"You love your big brother, don't you?" She kindly asked the dark-haired girl.

"A whole bunch!" Alluka cheerfully replied, raising her hand.

"And are you going to listen to him?"

"Yeah!"

The younger woman stepped up to Canary, making the dark-skinned girl gasp.

"I'm Amane. It is a pleasure to meet you." She introduced herself to her.

"I'm Canary, and likewise." Canary introduced herself to Amane.

"Tsubone, give me your fingernail. The pinky one." Alluka held out her hands and made a request from the old woman, much to everyone's shock. I gasped. An innocent smile was on her face as she waited for Tsubone to fulfill her request.

I could feel the tension rising in the air as I worried about the old woman, wondering if she could give Alluka what she wanted or not. 'Cause if not, then she would have to survive the next three requests and make a wish. But...a fingernail? Why the hell would Alluka want that? I remembered about the rules. If a big wish was granted, then the next requests got bigger and bigger to the point where one was unable to fulfill them and died immediately.

"Yes. It would be my pleasure." Tsubone agreed. My face contorted with disgust as she pulled out her pinky fingernail without feeling any pain. Blood dripped from it and landed on Alluka's hands. She gave her the fingernail, and I sighed with relief.

"Master Killua, I will go into hiding for the time being. That way, young Master Alluka won't be able to make requests of someone else, especially your friend." She turned back to the silver-haired boy, her monocle gleaming in the light. "Unless I change my mind. Do you understand what I mean? Of course, I will stay near you at all times." Then, she disappeared.

"Aw. I had more things I wanted." Alluka whined.

Oh, God. That was totally unexpected. Tsubone fulfilled one request, and she only has to fulfill two more to make a wish. Now that she's hiding, Alluka won't be able to make requests to anyone else, and that's a good thing. I guess that's another one of the rules I didn't know about until now.

Alluka tugged on Killua's short sleeve, and he turned to her.

"Hey, big brother. Are you mad at me?" She sadly asked him.

Killua only shook his head and placed a hand on her head. "It's okay. There's nothing to be worried about."

His smile made my heart skip a beat. The way he cared about his sister, it was too pure for me to take in. A slight red colored my cheeks, me comparing myself to him. There was no way Killua would let Alluka out of his sight, and I was sure he wouldn't let her go back after she saved Gon and Lizzy either. I wouldn't let them out of my sight.

We were riding in a car on the freeway, with Canary taking the wheel. Gotoh was on the phone with someone, answering "yes" or "no" to some questions. Killua and Alluka were playing on the tablets provided by the butlers, and I watched them with my arms crossed.

"Who was that?" Killua asked Gotoh after he hung up.

"It was—" Before he could answer, the phone started ringing again, and he picked it up. "Hello?"

A familiar voice shouted through the phone, and I jumped and covered my ears.

Leorio? It's been a long time since I last heard your deafening voice.

Gotoh spoke to Leorio and insulted him twice, and I had to deal with his screaming over the phone since I was sitting in between Gotoh and Killua.

"Gotoh." Killua said, and the man sighed and looked down in shame.

"You're right. Sorry for the outburst." He apologized to him.

"Let me talk to him. It'll be faster that way." Killua reached out his hand for the phone, and Gotoh let out a grunt of suspicion. "Don't worry. I won't say anything I'm not supposed to. Wouldn't wanna get sent home and get my friend killed, would I?"

The way he said that last part pissed me off, shown by the irk mark on the left side of my head. The nerve of this boy! He sounded like he didn't care about my life at all!

Gotoh handed him the phone and Killua spoke to Leorio for a little while before I got to speak to him. He was glad to hear my voice again, and he asked to put Gotoh back on the phone. I gave him the phone and listened to him explain the conditions to save Gon and Lizzy. I heard Leorio screaming over the phone, protesting at the conditions. Then by the sound of it, he wasn't on the phone anymore and Gotoh was speaking to someone else. He agreed with them and hung up.

Canary was driving the car up a mountain as the rest of us were watching a clip of Leorio punching a man who I assumed was Ging Freecss, Gon's father.

"Leorio's in third? That's incredible." Killua commented.

"Die, you asshole!" We heard Leorio yell at the man and the crowd of Hunters cheering.

"I have no idea that he wants to be chairman." I replied.

"I guess this clip must have had a big impact. He has no problem using his Nen ability in public." Killua stated.

"Die, you asshole!" Leorio yelled at Ging in the clip again.

"He's an Emitter, I guess." He added. "So, what, do people really hate Gon's dad? 'Cause that got a standing ovation."

"Well, of course they hate him! You know what he did, right? He abandoned his son! That's what pissed them off!" I deduced.

"Wowwee! I don't think anybody could have seen that one coming!" The announcer, a young woman with medium orange hair wearing bunny ears, shouted. Just then, the phone started ringing again, and Gotoh picked it up.

"Master Illumi." When I heard his name, I felt tense. I thought of him as a cold-blooded and manipulative brother who wanted his younger brother to return home and start killing for business again. I loathed him ever since me and my friends had rescued Killua from the hands of his family. I anxiously wondered what he wanted this time, and I seriously hoped he would not come back to try to capture Killua and attempt to kill me.

"Yes, at once. Please wait a moment." Gotoh turned to Killua with a fixed smile, holding out the phone to him. I noticed the boy's agitated and edgy face and Amane's tense expression. I looked at Alluka and she seemed confused of the situation. Killua took the phone from Gotoh and hesitated for a moment before speaking to his brother.

Illumi. You don't know when to quit, do you? Killua is my friend, my best friend, and you don't understand one thing about my relationship with him. He removed your needle and feels better now. So why are you still aiming to make him your puppet, even though he can get away from you easily?

"Hey, Amane. This part, it's really interesting." Alluka showed her the screen and smiled.

I thought about what Killua's father said about her not being part of the family and how he was wary of Alluka's abilities that he had to send Tsubone and Amane to accompany us. He trusted me and Killua to get our job done. If Illumi was planning to do things that would hinder our progress, then that would mean his only goal...was to kill Alluka.

Damn it! I can't let that happen! If Alluka gets killed by that bastard, then Lizzy will die! Gon will die, too! Alluka is the only one who can really save them, and if she's gone, there's absolutely nothing we can do to save them!

"Bring it on. I'll beat you at your own game." Killua spoke in a threatening tone.

Illumi, I will—

Suddenly, a car and a truck appeared before us, and I was thrusted back into my seat when Canary sped up the car and drove up the mountain. The truck and the car crashed into each other and were set on fire below us. Then, five more cars drove up the mountain to try to destroy ours, and Canary managed to elude them all before they fell off.

"Master Killua! Hold on tight to Master Alluka!" Gotoh ordered him.

"Yeah, I've got her!" Killua yelled.

"If you two are more than a meter apart, Amane will capture Master Alluka, and Tsubone will take you home by force! I will capture your friend and kill her!" He warned him.

"Oh, great! Now you're saying it for real!" I shouted, thinking about the last time he put my life on the line playing that coin game.

The car jumped up to the upper lane and landed, but another truck hit the front, causing me to gasp and panic.

"Watch out!" Gotoh grabbed me by the waist and pulled me to his side right before some long red iron bar-like structures smashed through the car. One of them almost hit me, and if it weren't for Gotoh's quick reaction, I would have been skewered.

Then, I felt myself falling down inside the car while Gotoh still got ahold of me. The car tumbled over the mountain, and I was feeling dizzy from the intense motion. I squeezed my eyes shut and continued to panic as the car slid down the mountain and into the forest. There was an explosion, and my eyes abruptly opened to find the entire car on fire.

"Get out, now!" Gotoh ordered me, and I did. Fortunately, I had no serious injuries. Everyone else survived unscathed, including Alluka, which was a good thing. I looked back at the burning car and put on a look of resentment, thinking that Illumi did this by manipulating the drivers.

Suddenly, I felt his bloodlust coming from the mountain, and that filled me with tension. I turned and did not say anything.

"It's okay. Big brother's got you." Killua assured Alluka. "Keep your eyes closed and don't let go of me!"

"Uh-huh." She gave a little nod.

"Try to stay away from Master Illumi. If he knows the route we're taking, it's best to change directions." Amane suggested, and so we did.

"I agree, but...it's hard for me to trust you." Killua said. "You do realize that, right?"

"My grandmother and I are not your enemies." Amane told him.

"Not right now. But that could change if my dad's mood changes."

"Master Silva and Master Zeno are not your enemies as well. Our mission is to bring you home safely, no matter what happens."

Her words caused Killua to halt, and me, too. Killua turned on his Nen out of anger.

"If that doesn't include Alluka and Lynn, then all of you are my enemies." He coldly stated, then he turned his head to me. "Get on."

I stared at Amane for a moment before realizing I would never be alive even after I got Alluka to save Lizzy and her loved one. So I hopped on and wrapped my arms around Killua's neck and wrapped my legs around his waist. He activated his electricity, mildly shocking me everywhere and messing up my hair.

"Godspeed! Speed of Lightning!" He shouted before taking off into the trees, leaving the three butlers behind. I held on tightly to him as he ran around the forest carrying Alluka in his arms. To be honest, I would really like it if he wasn't using his ability to carry me around. I couldn't stand the shocks all over my body and the way my hair looked somewhat of a mad scientist's. But I wasn't going to complain, otherwise I would be pushing Killua to his limits.

After a while, he stopped running and disabled his ability. I saw the smoke rising from the burning car far away from us.

"Okay! We're really far away now, so let's take a little break." Killua said. "You can get off now."

I was too distracted by his warmth as I stared at the view in front of me.

"Idiot! I'm talking to you!" He snapped at me, and I gave a small scowl.

"Stop calling me that." I said spitefully and got off of him.

We started walking through the forest, me feeling slightly paralyzed from the shocks. I dragged my feet along the ground and focused my attention up front.

"Big brother." Alluka said, catching her brother's attention.

"Huh?"

"Am I...a nuisance?"

Her question caused him to stop in his tracks. I stopped after him and laid my eyes on the dark-haired girl.

"If I were gone, would you all get along better?"

Killua put her down and placed his hands on her shoulders. "Alluka. If...I were the only person in the world who loved you very much, would that make you sad?"

She gazed into his eyes for a moment, then she became ecstatically happy and gave a wide grin.

"I'm so happy, I can't stop smiling!" She giggled.

"Okay. I'll always be there for you no matter what happens. I promise." Killua hugged her, and she returned it. "You don't have to worry about anyone else."

He became wary of his surroundings and looked around to see if anyone was near. I couldn't see anyone in the trees, unsure if Illumi or Tsubone was hiding somewhere around here. Whoever it was, we couldn't let Alluka near them.

"Let's go." He said after parting from her.

I felt my heart pounding inside my chest from looking at his smiley face. His smile showed that he really cared about his sister and that he would do anything to protect her. He would get her to the hospital to save his best friend and my sister and give her her freedom. He really was a good big brother to Alluka, just like I was a good big sister to Lizzy.

If I wanted to bury the hatchet with her, I had to risk everything I had, including my life. I needed to reach her and keep her from joining my parents in heaven. I needed to save her and Gon, because without him, she would never be happy, even if I apologized to her.

It is on, Illumi. It is on.
