《A Twist to Our Futures (Killua X OCs X Gon)》13th Hunter Chairman Election - Chapter 37

It was evening when we got there, and I was so pissed off when I knew we were back at the Zoldyck mansion where Killua's peculiar family lived.

"Are you kidding me?! Do you think I'm going to go through the hell I've been through with your family since the last time I was here?!" I snapped.

"You know my family is nuts over me being the head and how I feel about being their toy. I hate it. But there's someone in my cock-eyed family who I really care about, and we are going to see her." Killua explained and went to open the Testing Gate, and to my surprise, he opened five of the doors.

"What are you waiting for? Come on, we're wasting time." He said, and I quickly went through the doors before they closed. Killua followed me and walked next to me.

When we got inside the mansion, we passed through creepy hallways until we got to a room where a man with long silver hair was sitting down on his chair. There was a huge dog sleeping beside him.

"Hey, Dad." Killua greeted him, and I only bowed down.

"Who is she? Why is she here?" The man who was known as Killua's father asked.

"Oh. She's one of my friends who wanted to tag along." The boy replied, taking a glance at me.

"I'm Lynn Azrelt. It's very nice to meet you, sir." I said, looking at the man in the eyes.

He eyed me closely. "An Azrelt, huh? Quite surprised."

I kept my posture and didn't say anything else. Killua began speaking.

"We need to see Alluka. We need her help." He demanded.

"Killua." His father said.

"We don't have any time for this, Dad. We'll go, even if you try to stop us. Come with us."

"Forget it. No one can control Alluka."

"You're wrong!" Killua snapped. "You and big brother! Alluka is part of the family, not some machine! As her brother, I'm asking her for help!"

The man gave him a suspicious look. "You'll 'ask' her for help? Really?"

So Alluka is Killua's sister. But what does his father mean when he said that no one can control her?

"That child is not human. You shouldn't consider her as part of the family." His father's statement made me gasp in disbelief, and Killua released some bloodlust out of anger.

"What did you just say?" He muttered.

The bloodlust caused the dog to growl at us, and I tensed up. The man seemed like he didn't care about his son's attitude towards his objection.

"That thing...came from somewhere else. Something...from the darkness." He was being serious about Alluka not being human. I wondered what kind of being she was that made her family despise her. If Killua cared about Alluka very much, then why didn't he run away with her when he had the chance?

"Oh. Sit." The ex-assassin told the dog, and it did. I mentally sighed in relief.

"Gon made an awful contract putting conditions on his Nen. Lynn's sister, Lizzy, did the same thing. One Exorcist would not be enough to fix both of them, and if they tried to fix them, they would either be repelled or killed." He bit his thumb and held it out to his father, reminding him of something. "If Alluka hasn't changed, I'm the only one who can help her. I know it. And Alluka's the only one who can help Gon and Lizzy."

I stared at his bloody thumb in awe, and I felt his resolve to see his sister. If she had a power that could heal them, she would be crucial to our mission.

"If my friends are in danger and I choose not to help them, would that mean I'm betraying them?" He asked, and his father hummed in response.

"Come with me." The man stood up from his seat and left the room, and Killua and I began following him.

We went down the stairs and into a tunnel that looked similar to the underground tunnel where the First Phase of the Hunter Exam took place. I remained silent as the man led us through the dim and cool tunnel, and we came across a door. The man entered a passcode and opened the door, revealing another door ahead of us. We walked straight to the door and the man entered another passcode, opening the second door. There was a third door behind it. As we moved to the door, I thought about how Alluka could be so strange and possibly dangerous to the family that they had to lock her up somewhere down here. The security around her was pretty tight, meaning she could be dangerous. But I wasn't going to worry about that. All I cared about was saving my sister and Gon, and like Killua said, she was the only one who could really save them.

When the man opened the third door, there was yet another door he had to open. After he opened that door, another door appeared before us. But the man hesitated to open the fifth door, which I guessed was the final door before the room where Alluka was held captive.

"Your friend doesn't know this at all, but I'm sure you do. No new requests had been made." The man told Killua, confusing me.

"Requests?" I muttered.

"And who made the last wish?" Killua asked him.

"Milluki did. He wanted the newest computer available at that time, so she got it for him. He did it in her presence, so he couldn't lie." He replied.

"A new computer, huh? Not too bad."

What is she? Some sort of wish-granting machine? No, I shouldn't be thinking of her that way! Alluka is part of the family, and no one has the right to treat her like a machine.

"Kil, I want to go over this again. What are the rules to Alluka's wishes?" The man asked him, curiosity hitting my mind. "As long as your friend here keeps everything she hears to herself, it's fine to explain."

"It's not necessary. I know Alluka better than anyone else." Killua said.

"It is necessary. Have you forgotten how many people have died?" He asked more seriously, and I lightly gasped.

Died? How?

"We've killed more than that, and you know it!" Killua retorted. I frowned, feeling bad for what he had done.

"Kil, calm down. Otherwise, we're stopping right here. Our promise matters to me, because I'm your father. It's natural that I should be concerned. Please, go over the rules again." His father told him. I noticed the look of regret on the boy's face, and to put him at ease, I put my hand on his shoulder and looked him in the eyes.

"Go on. Explain how this works. If we want to save our friends, you have to tell me everything about what Alluka can do. We can't turn our backs on them now." I quietly said to him, and he took a deep breath before starting to explain.

"When three of Alluka's requests are fulfilled, she will grant you a wish. There is probably no limit to what you can wish for. She can do anything. But the bigger the wish, the bigger Alluka's next requests will be. An even trade. The price isn't paid by the one who made the wish, but by the next person Alluka makes her requests from. If those requests aren't fulfilled by that person, they will die along with the person they love the most. That means at least two people will die simultaneously. But the bigger the wish, the bigger the casualties will be when the requests aren't fulfilled. After that wish, 67 people we knew died."

I processed everything in my head and understood why Alluka was locked up here. Just as I thought, she was dangerous. She was also like a genie, granting people's wishes to make life easier for them. Some people make their wishes without caring about the consequences. In Alluka's case, she could kill more people if one person wished to be the luckiest out of all people in the world. That person would be ignorant of their own actions. They wouldn't even know their friends and family were all killed because of the wish they made. Some people say that you have to be careful what you wish for, and Alluka was just the perfect example for that.

The man grabbed the round handle and began turning it, unlocking all of the locks and opening the final door. After the door was completely opened, there was a room filled with stuffed animals and dolls, and sitting in the middle was a dark-haired girl wearing a pink and green dress and a headband with cartoon faces. She had two locks of hair each fastened with four hair bands decorated with the same cartoon faces on her headband.

So that's Alluka.

I walked into the room, and Alluka looked up to see me and her brother Killua. I stared into her blue eyes in awe, my thoughts about her gathering together.

"Big brother!" Her lips formed a cheerful smile at the sight of him.

"Alluka." Killua happily said her name.

The girl stood up and wrapped her arms around him, giggling and full of delight. I watched in astonishment as the two of them reunited with each other.

"It's been so long. I'm sorry I left you alone down here. Please forgive me." He apologized sincerely to her.

"It's okay! I'm so happy!" She buried her face in his neck and took a long sniff. "I really miss your scent."

My open mouth turned into a small smile as I witnessed her joyful reunion with her brother. It was true she might be a mass murderer, but she was still part of Killua's family. The infamous Zoldyck family of assassins.

"I miss you so much." The boy muttered.

She giggled and lifted her head from his neck to see his face, then she noticed me standing behind her brother. She grew a bigger smile while I tried my best not to look alarmed in front of her.

"Who are you?" She asked me innocently, and Killua turned around to face me.

"Oh, I..." I breathed lightly and tried to compose myself. "I'm—"

"Hey, Alluka! Wanna play with me?" Killua interrupted me and asked her, and I was annoyed that he did.

"Oh! Okay!" She replied.

"Excuse me? What was that, snow head? You trying to be rude to me?" I snapped, and he gave me a small scowl.

"Just shut up and don't do anything. They're watching us." He muttered.

"I don't care if they're watching us! You stopped me from saying my name to Alluka for no reason! That's not funny at all! Let me introduce myself to her, damn it!" I pointed at him accusingly.

"You're such an idiot." I heard him whisper, and a tick mark appeared on the side of my head.

"I told you to not call me an idiot!" I yelled.

"And I told you to stop calling me stupid names!" He yelled back.

"I don't remember you telling me that! That means I can call you whatever I like! Your hair looks so weird that I can make up any name I want! Like Cloud Puff or Snowball or maybe even Lil' Shiro! You have a cold heart, too, so I can call you Icy, Captain Cold, Frosty Brain, I name it! You can't stop me!" I crossed my arms and turned my head away.

"Unless if I knock you out cold. Then you won't say anything else embarrassing!"

"And how are you gonna do that? Hit me like it's nothing? Huh? I'm afraid you can't do that, young man. You know the rule. And Alluka won't like it if you hit your friends. I bet you don't even have the guts to make me cry my little heart out!"

"Oh, yeah?"

"Yeah!"

"Big brother! Come play with me!" Alluka cried, stopping our amusing squabble.

"Okay." He turned around and went to play with her while I gave him a glare. They got on their knees and faced each other. Alluka clenched three of her fingers and left her index finger pointing at Killua and thumb facing up.

"Big brother, die." She said, and Killua smirked at her.

"Okay." He nodded.

"Bang!" She mimicked a gunshot noise and shot him, causing him to fall down on purpose. She laughed at his 'dead' body, and my eyes turned back to normal. I wondered how Killua could handle her requests like that one. Pretending to die is an easy thing to do depending on how you do it. And you've got to have good finesse if you want to make it look real. Killua could play dead if Alluka asked him to, and he could play dead for as long as she wanted. I'd got to say, he worked really well keeping his relationship with her through fulfilling her requests and having fun with her. Just like I was with my sister Lizzy back at home. I'd do anything for her, but without the cost of my own life. This mission was a whole lot different. I was risking my life to save her, so I had to be careful around Alluka or else she would make her requests from me.

"Okay big brother. You can wake up now." She said, and Killua's body slowly rose up. She let out a surprised gasp.

"Boo!" His head popped out of his collar, and she cheered and clapped.

"You're really good at this." She complimented him.

"I really am, aren't I?" Killua said.

He isn't even scared of her one bit. Me on the other hand, she gives me the creeps. I don't even want to think what will happen to me if I don't fulfill all three of Alluka's requests. Oh God, I hope you're still keeping my sister and my friend alive. Don't take them away from here.

"Big brother, let's play word games." Alluka said.

"Okay. That's a good idea." He replied.

"Then...how about...hmm...Last letter in 'Alluka!'" She held up a finger.

"Let's see...Apple!" Killua answered.

"Hmm...Easy!" She said.

"You."

"Umm...let's see...Under!" She exclaimed.

"Ring."

Gon.

"Uhh...Oh, girl!" She replied, and I mentally sighed.

Lizzy.

"Low."

What am I gonna do? What am I gonna do if Alluka makes requests from either one of you after Killua and I save you? Will you be able to fulfill them?

"Wish!"

"Home." Killua replied.

If Alluka makes requests and one of you fulfills all three of them, then she will grant you a wish. But that will mean the other person will have to pay it back, if Alluka's next requests aren't fulfilled. If the other person does not fulfill those requests, that person will die as well as another one. Their lover will be the one to die along with them. If Gon were to be the one who failed to fulfill Alluka's requests, then he and Lizzy would die. There's nothing I can do to stop Alluka from making tons of requests from strangers.

I watched them play the word game until Killua won by saying the word 'tree' and Alluka using the word 'easy' again. The girl whined and pouted at him while Killua made a cat face to celebrate his win. I tried to smile as much as I could to forget about the consequences.

"Big brother, give me a hug." She requested, and Killua nodded in agreement. She jumped into his arms and buried her head in his chest. He gave her some head pats which pleased her very much. This reminded me how good of a sister I was to Lizzy, always giving her head pats and being there for her when she needed me the most. As the years of my life with her passed, she became more outgoing and was able to make her own decisions without me interfering. She grew more and more confident in fighting for the ones she loved and cared about. She and I had worked together with our friends to defeat many enemies throughout our adventures together. I cared about her feelings for Gon and tried to support her as best as I could.

But this situation involving her and Gon had brought shame to myself. Failing to help her and failing to protect her were the two main reasons I felt this way. I wanted to fix that and the way I thought about her. She wanted to be strong so she could be able to protect as many people as she could. When she used up all of her power to try to defeat the King and his Royal Guard however, she had to sacrifice hundreds of lives and risk hers to get the job done. Without any Nen, she would be defenseless in a fight involving Nen, and I was afraid she would not survive in that kind of fight.

I noticed that Alluka fell asleep, and Killua picked her up and slowly stood up. He was smiling, feeling happy that he got to see his sister again after leaving her to be confined in this room.

"Let's go." He said to me, and I realized he could make his wish right now. I was confused about why he wanted to take her out when he could save our friends right here and right now.

He stopped at the door and looked up at the camera above it. "Dad, open the door."

"No. Make the wish in that room. I cannot let any of you out yet." His father's voice played over the speakers. I kept silent as I did not bother to ask questions.

"I am definitely your son." He spoke. "You called Alluka 'something from another place.' I call the black-eyed Alluka 'Nanika,' meaning 'something,' the same way you guys call her."

Nanika? There's another side of Alluka? What is she, really?

"We're leaving. I'll pay the price there is." He turned to the dark-haired girl in his arms. "Nanika, if we don't get off this mountain together in 30 minutes, I want you to kill our mother."

I gasped and widened my eyes in shock at his threat. He couldn't go that far, could he? His own mother, a sacrifice to our mission?

"But if all of us are able to get off the mountain together, I want you to kiss me on the cheek." He added. "Got it?"

The mysterious girl's head creaked toward the camera, astonishing me by her appearance. Her eyes and mouth became pitch black and her skin became more pale. There was some dark aura around her too.

"'Kay." She gave a succinct answer in a soft voice.

What the hell? I never knew she can change like that when she's about to grant a wish. And that aura, it's frightening! So is her appearance when she's Nanika! Can I really save Lizzy like this?

I looked back at the camera to wait for an answer from Killua's father. Nothing yet.

"So Dad, open the door." Killua told him.

After a moment of silence, he complied and opened the door to let us out of the room. We started walking back through the tunnel and up the stairs to a hallway that led to a huge room and finally walked out the front doors. The sun was rising in the sky, making it look beautiful to watch. I walked next to Killua who was carrying Nanika—now turned back to Alluka.

"Nanika is really good at breaking things, but bad at fixing them. In order for her to heal, she needs to make direct contact with the target or her power won't work." He explained.

"Oh. So that's why you wanted to take her with us to save Gon and Lizzy. Her power is the only thing that can heal them both." I stated.

"If we want to save them in time, we have to let nothing get in our way of going to them. We can't turn back and run away either. No matter the cost, we will save them!"

The determination in his voice made it clear that he meant it. I would help him get Alluka to the hospital so she could use her incredible power to heal our friends and save them. I would risk my life if I had to.

I heard Alluka giggle and remembered the demand he made earlier. She pressed her lips against his cheek, and I smiled with happiness.

Don't worry, you guys. We're coming.
