《A Twist to Our Futures (Killua X OCs X Gon)》Chimera Ant - Chapter 25

"Okay. Three hours. All done." Bisky announced as we finished our Ren practice with ease.

"Huh? Already?" I casually spoke.

"That was easy." Lynn replied.

"And it seemed so fast." Gon added.

"Then I'll give you a 30-minute break." She closed her magazine and smiled proudly.

"Hold on. Aren't we supposed to fight Knuckle?" Gon asked, confused.

"I'll allow the four of you to go once you're fully rested. You can take him on. The chairman's deadline is quickly approaching. You have over one day left, so this may be your first and last chance." She told us, and we all grunted in agreement.

We saw Knuckle with even more dogs, feeding them with all the care he had. When we were approaching him, all of them ran away.

The four of us had our Ren turned on as we firmly approached him, and Knuckle stood with his face showing will power.

"You guys are fired up tonight." He muttered.

Killua, Lynn, and I stopped in our tracks while Gon stepped up to fight him.

"Before we start, I want to know where your partner is." The boy demanded.

"What? You mean Shoot?" He asked. "Why the hell do you want to know about that? I'm about to beat the crap out of you, kid!" He yelled.

"Because we'll need both of your tokens." Gon simply replied.

"You trying to mess with me? If you beat me, I'll answer your question."

"We might not have a chance unless you're knocked out cold." Killua remarked.

Knuckle grunted. "I am not amused anymore."

"Let's see how this goes." Lynn muttered under her breath.

Gon activated his Ren, increasing it as he and Knuckle glared at each other. Then, Knuckle charged at him, but the boy disappeared and reappeared behind him. He threw a punch, but missed. Knuckle gave him a good punch to the back, sending him flying.

"Gon!" Killua and I yelled.

We saw that he blocked his attack with his arms, and Knuckle stretched his arms out and twisted them around.

"Just four or five more warm-up punches, then I'll get serious." He said, surprising me. "You kids better brace yourselves. 'Cause I get warmed up pretty fast."

That punch was just a warm-up? Damn, he must be very powerful!

Knuckle turned on his Ren, and they both got ready to fight. Gon dashed forward to land a punch on him, but Knuckle dodged and punched him again. Then he rushed to him and kicked him while he was flying, sending him back in the direction he was before.

"Behind you!" The man yelled out, and Gon turned around to let himself be hit by Knuckle's punch.

"Ooh..." Lynn flinched from noticing his pained expression.

Gon landed on his feet and panted, staring at Knuckle with determination in his eyes.

"When are you gonna use that technique? You know, that 'Show me Rock' thing?" Knuckle scornfully asked. "It's not like you can use it. It's flawed anyway."

What the heck is he talking about?

"Let me tell you something, kid. You're going down. All because of that flawed technique!" He chuckled and moved towards Gon with a smirk painted on his face.

"If you think you can use that technique in a one-on-one battle, think again! Your technique has two major flaws!" He told him, pointing at him in a mocking, but truthful way.

"Huh?" Killua said.

"What?" Lynn questioned.

Flaws? What kind of flaws were there?

"So, what's the technique called?" Knuckle asked, surprising Gon.

"It's uh...Ja-Janken—" He stuttered, and I collapsed dramatically.

"Wow. Zero effort." Killua commented.

"I thought it would be something cooler than that!" I added.

Lynn sighed.

"Ja-janken, huh? I see. So it's just like rock, paper, scissors. The 'ja-jan' is like a 'ta-da!'" Knuckle pointed out.

"N-not really." The boy mumbled.

"That's a clever name you've got there, kid." He complimented.

"I guess that's okay with me."

"Huh?!" I exclaimed, confused of his effortless decision.

"Really?" Lynn questioned.

"Well, Gon, your Jajanken has two major weaknesses. First, it takes too long to charge. You couldn't be able to stand still for too long, so that means you won't get many chances to use it." Knuckle explained.

"I get it." Gon nodded.

"Second, it's too risky! When you charge your aura into your fist, you'll leave yourself defenseless against your opponents' attacks. If someone attacks you when you're vulnerable, you're dead."

"I know the risks. That's why I've been training the last month to make up with them!" The boy increased his Ren, totally surprising Knuckle.

They started exchanging punches very quickly, with Gon unable to evade Knuckle's attacks. He blocked most of them, and I couldn't tell what was going on with his aura when he was about to use his attack. Knuckle gave him an uppercut at the right time and sent him flying. He landed on his feet and dashed towards him to deliver a blow, only for himself to be Knuckle's punching bag, earning many punches from the man.

"Damn it." Killua whispered.

"He's reading Gon's aura flow like an open book." Lynn added. "That means Gon's giving away his next attacks."

The man sent him an evil grin and peered at him. "Now it's time for a real punch. Don't blame me if you die, okay?"

"Gon..." I muttered.

I noticed him charging up his attack, and I remembered Knuckle's explanation about it.

"Show me Rock!" He yelled, building up his aura in his fist.

No!

Knuckle stopped him by kicking him a couple feet away, making me realize what he said was true. Gon didn't have the time to prepare his 'Jajanken' attack, and he could die if he got hit by one of Knuckle's punches.

"Didn't I tell you that you weren't allowed to do that? What is wrong with you? Are you trying to mess with me, boy?" He screamed at him.

"Is that everything you've got?" Gon asked, anger evident in his voice.

"Huh?"

"Who's messing with who? This is a real fight. So fight like you mean it!"

Knuckle was taken aback by the anger in his voice. Gon got in his stance and began charging up his attack.

"Now, show me Rock!" He yelled, and his aura spiked up in his fist, scaring Knuckle. "Here goes. Jan...Ken..."

Knuckle took a swing, but the boy disappeared and reappeared behind him. He took another swing, and this time, Gon ducked down and tripped him. Then, he gave him a good punch to the face and started charging up his Jajanken attack again.

"All right, now show me Rock! Jan..."

Knuckle kicked him in the head to stop him, sending him flying. I got it! He had faked his attack to land a hit on Knuckle!

"You were too focused on stopping me from using my special technique. I could tell how and when you were about to attack me with your right." Gon stated.

Knuckle's not using his full strength. Perhaps he's being too soft again. I can tell Gon's getting tired from using all that aura. If he doesn't get Knuckle to use all his power soon, he'll totally lose!

Gon charged at Knuckle and they both got in a hand to hand fight, rapidly exchanging punches to each other. Knuckle landed a hit on Gon, and then another one. He continued to deliver simple blows to reduce Gon's stamina. The boy blocked one of his attacks and got launched back.

"Gon, you told me that I should give it everything I got, but you're still no match for me right now." Knuckle grumbled. "You're just—"

"Now, show me Rock!" Gon interrupted him, charging up his Jajanken attack, much to my displeasure.

No way! Is he gonna use that attack again? It'll be his last attack, I know it! But...why from that distance? Which will he attempt to try? But it'll cost him all of his remaining aura no matter which attack he'll use. Knuckle is still standing, feeling totally fine. If he can take his last attack, then there's no way Gon can ever win with little time left of his aura!

"Jan...Ken...Paper!" Gon shouted and launched a projectile made out of aura straight at Knuckle.

Paper? Isn't that an Emitter attack? Wait, he's an Enhancer, so that means...that attack is weaker than Rock! What was he thinking using that attack against Knuckle?

Knuckle deflected the attack, but Gon appeared behind him now, charging up another Jajanken attack.

"All right! Round two!" The boy called from behind him, shocking him. He did another feint against him!

"Jan...Ken...Rock!" He screamed with confidence as he attempted to deal major damage to Knuckle using the attack. I gasped in shock along with my sister and Killua. I covered my eyes to keep myself from being blinded by the bright light.

When everything cleared, I saw that Gon already passed out from using all of his aura. He didn't even land a hit on Knuckle as I could tell he wasn't affected.

Killua picked him up and carried him on his back. Lynn and I started walking away when Knuckle spoke up.

"Where the hell are you guys going?" He asked.

"We're going back." Killua replied.

"Aren't you gonna fight me? I'm ready for more."

"You can fight Gon again tomorrow. The outcome will be different."

"And after you fight Gon, you'll fight me next. Don't think that you can go easy on me just because I'm a girl. Fight me with everything you've got." I sternly replied.

"And then, Killua and I can fight Shoot." Lynn firmly stated.

"You tell Gon that I will be fighting him and Lizzy for real tomorrow! They'd better be ready to die!" He shouted.

"You sound like you're trying to boost yourself up. Are you sure you can do it?" Killua asked.

"Of course I can! What do you expect?"

"Tomorrow."

"Uh..."

The ex-assassin stopped and turned his head to look at him with his ice cold eyes. "You don't have to get serious, as long as you can win. But, if you lose without fighting at full strength, we won't forgive you."

We continued to walk back to the hotel, leaving Knuckle alone by himself.

"Ever." Lynn finished, and we didn't say anything else to him as we moved farther from him, never looking back.

Gon was placed in bed to rest, and we watched him sleep peacefully.

"Don't worry. I gave him a massage, so he should be able to fight Knuckle in full strength tomorrow." Bisky told us.

I felt like I hadn't done much fighting with Knuckle over the past month, and I was afraid that if I was not strong enough to beat him, I was done for.

"You girls get some rest, okay?" She turned to us, and we nodded and got out of Gon's room to go to our own rooms.

I went to mine and closed the door, and then got my bed ready. I turned off the lights and tucked myself in the blankets, and later fell asleep.

I was running through the forest at night, trying to escape from the flying Chimera Ants that wanted me dead. I looked back to see if they were still there, and I failed to notice the cliff right in front of me, and I fell.

I tumbled down the rocky edge and landed on my front, groaning from the pain I got from fighting some powerful ants. When I stood up, however, all I saw was so much carnage. My breath shook and my eyes widened in shock.

I heard a voice coming from above, and I ran away as fast as I could to avoid being spotted by the ants and to keep myself from throwing up from the stench of blood. How...how could the ants just eat humans without caring about them at all? Why couldn't they just live together in peace and harmony? This...this was just so wrong and messed up!

When I passed all of the lifeless corpses, I breathed in fresh air and continued running. I climbed the rocks as fast as I could and reached the top. I ran through many of the trees in the forest until I reached a clearing where I could see the nest a couple of miles away.

However, my eyes dropped to see a familiar boy in green all covered in bruises and blood. He wasn't moving at all, and all I could do was tear up and think about how he tried to defeat the same Chimera Ant that fought Kite. Not to mention that this was the same place where they both fought and I had to run away with my friends to avoid getting involved in their mess.

Tears spilled from my eyes and onto the ground, my sobs being quiet and that of a little girl. I couldn't believe my eyes. First, I lost my parents and now I lost the one I loved the most in my life. I was all alone, and I bet that my sister and the ex-assassin had shared the same fate as the spiky-haired boy.

Suddenly, a Chimera Ant appeared in front of me and the lifeless corpse. I looked up to see its cat ears and tail, its deadly-looking ruby eyes staring into my soul. Malicious aura was directed at me, causing me to feel the same feeling when I first sensed it.

I trembled in my spot, breathing with total fear as the cat-like Chimera Ant moved closer to me on its four limbs. All of a sudden, it leaped at me, sharpening its claws to tear me apart.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!"

I gasped sharply and quickly sat up in my bed, my eyes wide in disbelief. It was just a horrible nightmare. No way that all of my friends were really dead, and there was no way that Chimera Ant could kill me and eat me.

I looked at my clock and knew that it was two in the morning. I sighed and got out of bed to go to the kitchen to get some water. I did not feel Palm's ominous aura, so that was good. I grabbed a cup and poured water in it using a water dispenser. I took a sip and walked out of the kitchen.

"What's the problem?" I heard a familiar voice, and I nearly jumped when I saw the blonde woman getting up from her chair and walking towards me.

"B-Bisky! Y-you scared me!" I exclaimed, trying to keep my voice down.

"Awake at two o'clock in the morning getting a glass of water to quench your thirst. What brings you at this hour?" She asked.

"Oh, just a nightmare that's all. I don't think I can be able to sleep for a few hours now." I smiled sheepishly.

"Why don't you train for a while? That way, you can be ready to face Knuckle and defeat him." She suggested, and I nodded.

Bisky and I stood a couple of feet away from each other, ready to begin my training.

"Alright, I won't go easy on you, so make sure to give it everything you got." She told me before she started transforming into the big, muscular woman I saw before. My eyes were wide as they stared at her in astonishment.

I ran towards her and attempted to land a hit on her, but she only punched me a few meters back. A bruise formed on my cheek, and I stood up on my feet holding on to it.

"So, tell me, what exactly happened in that nightmare?" The muscular woman asked, her voice as deep as it was.

"I...I was trying to get away from some flying Chimera Ants while trying to reach the nest in the NGL to save Kite. I fell down a cliff and saw tons of dead bodies of soldiers, all of whom were slaughtered by Chimera Ants. I didn't have time to think about the horror of people getting killed, so I continued running." I explained as I kept trying to attack her, and she blocked all of my attacks and sent me flying by punching me in the face again.

"And...as soon as I saw the nest, I was confident to go in there and save Kite when I saw a horrifying sight on the ground before me."

"And what was it?" Bisky asked.

I slowly stood up and stared into her narrow, pink eyes, ready to say my next words.

"Gon...he was lying on the ground all lifeless and filled with bloody wounds. He must have fought a very powerful Chimera Ant and lost, and death was what he earned. I was crying helplessly, and I was all alone. Lynn and Killua probably died by losing to other ants, and I was the only one to escape while fighting an ant more powerful than me. I didn't have any idea how weak I was until that same Chimera Ant who fought Kite appeared in front of my teary eyes. Its Nen was so malicious that I couldn't bring myself to fight or escape. I was petrified. The last thing I saw was its creepy red eyes, and after that, I was gone from this world, and I joined my friends in heaven. That's all that happened in my dreadful nightmare."

The muscular woman felt bad having me to go through this mess in the middle of the night. She took a couple of steps towards me and looked down.

"If you don't want that happening to you on the mission, you have to be strong. Both physically and emotionally. Don't feel pity for the deaths of many people and keep fighting with boldness. I know your friends are very important to you, and you never wanted to leave them behind to die. But, if you can't defeat Knuckle by the day of the deadline, you will have to leave their side for good. I'm telling you this not to motivate you to become stronger, but to help you overcome your doubts and harden your spirit to fight for the ones you love and defend humankind. Someday, you will take pride in your accomplishments and remember those who have helped you become a better fighter. You have a bright future waiting for you up ahead, and it is your job to make sure nothing stands in your way of achieving your dream."

I looked up in wonder, feeling inspired by her words coming out of her mouth. She had a reason to ask me about my nightmare, and that was to help me get rid of my sensitive feelings towards the pain and suffering of people. I should not be thinking about many people losing their lives to the Chimera Ants. Instead, I had to get over it and continue to fight with everything I had.

"Thank you, Bisky." I spoke up and smiled softly.

She returned the smile and walked back to where she was before.

"Alright, let's continue training." She said, and I nodded.

"Osu!"

I had been fighting her for almost an hour and a half, and I earned more bruises on my face and some parts of my body after she punched me many times. I grew tired, but I didn't give up, as I wanted to be strong enough to force Knuckle to go all out and fight like he meant it.

"All right, you're done for now. Why don't you go back to sleep and we'll train more in the morning, okay?" Bisky told me after changing to her younger form.

"Yeah. But there's one more thing I need to ask you." I replied, and she tilted her head in confusion.

"What is it?"

I took a deep breath, getting my thoughts together.

"Will you teach me how to use En?"

She widened her eyes, realizing that I was being serious. I wanted to learn the technique so I could be as good as Kite when he used it. It'd be a big help when tracking down an enemy from a far distance.

After a moment of silence, she nodded, and I grinned with determination.

- In the morning -

"Whoa! What happened to your faces?" Gon asked in surprise when he saw me and Killua's bruised faces.

"I was training with Bisky." He replied.

"Me too." I added.

"Lizzy, you look like you haven't slept at all." Lynn pointed out.

"I've been training all night, and I'm so tired because I've been using so much aura to learn En." I replied, and they looked at me in surprise.

"En? Isn't that the technique Kite used to keep track of those ants?" Gon asked, and I nodded.

"It's going to take me a couple of weeks to master it, so I'll have to keep training." I stated.

"Anyway, how are you feeling, Gon?" Killua asked him.

"I'm feeling fantastic! I used up all of my aura, so I expected myself to be worn out by now, but look!" He looked at his hands enshrouded in aura.
