《A Twist to Our Futures (Killua X OCs X Gon)》Greed Island - Chapter 15

Gon closed his eyes, and Killua lowered the ball in his hands. I could hear him taking deep breaths, concentrating on increasing the power of his ability to eliminate Razor. I saw aura shrouding his body, and it was nice and smooth.

"Ren." He mumbled, and his aura spiked, shocking Tsezguerra and his men. Razor only smirked.

"I think you may have chosen the wrong sport. He has all the time in the world to build up his power. There's nothing like that in the rules. You might want to get out of the way." Bisky explained.

The man hummed. "You're kidding."

He activated his aura, still smirking at the boy who was concentrating.

I observed him as he focused all of his aura into his fist.

"Now, show me Rock!" Gon chanted, charging up his attack. The lights flickered from his raw, immense power, and the court shook a bit.

"Take this, Razor!" He yelled, further increasing his power. "Jan! Ken! Rock!"

He gave the ball a powerful punch with Rock, amazing all of us. Razor focused his aura in his feet and hands to try to deflect it. The blazing ball collided with his wrists, the force pushing him back. This was getting intense. Would we eliminate Razor and win?

The man was sent flying a few feet, bumping the ball up to the ceiling. I watched it as it almost hit the ceiling, and then at Razor, who landed on his feet perfectly.

Damn. This man is very strong.

Gon stopped using his aura, sweating and catching his breath. The next thing I noticed was him growing a big, bright smile.

"That was awesome!" The boy innocently exclaimed.

"It's not all about dodging and catching, but I doubt that tip will help you." Razor stated.

"I don't get it. That ball was as strong as Razor's, but it didn't even reach the ceiling." The man with curly brown hair pointed out.

"That was one hell of a bump, to burn off enough momentum. Now it's directly over him!" The dark-skinned man added.

Just as the ball was about to fall down, Hisoka pulled it back to our side using his Bungee Gum, surprising Razor.

"Aww, that's too bad. You actually have to catch the ball, you know?" He sneered.

"As for the cushion rule, Razor is out! Step outside!" The referee announced.

"Back." Razor smirked.

"Razor has used Back! He will remain inside and play will resume." It stated.

"That was a very good punch there, Gon." I complimented him.

"Thanks. That was much better than the last one." He gave me an enthusiastic smile.

"You doing okay, Gon?" Killua asked.

"Yeah, but I think the next one will be the last. I'll put everything I got in this one."

"All right! Make it good."

As we were talking to each other, I noticed Killua had his hands in his pockets the entire time. He was possibly hiding something we weren't supposed to see, I could tell.

"Time out!" Tsezguerra called out. "Ref, I have a question."

"What is it?"

He stood up and carefully moved toward the referee. "Can inside players choose to move outside of the court?"

"Well, that doesn't violate the rules, but be aware that you can't return inside." It stated.

"Right." He turned to us. "Come here!"

Me, Gon, Killua, and Hisoka stepped out of the court for a moment to have a talk with Tsezguerra.

"Gon, if you step outside the court, I can hold the ball for you. Killua's hands must be totally ravaged by now. I doubt he's in any condition to hold the ball for you. I know a way that'll allow me to apply a lightning-fast coating of aura in order to protect my hands. I can hold the ball, while you take out Razor from here. It's our only way to win."

"I'm afraid we can't do that." Killua rejected his offer, and Gon nodded in agreement.

"Why not? What's the problem with that?"

"It would be a cop-out."

"Huh?! This isn't the time to be thinking like that!" Tsezguerra groaned in pain and coughed uncontrollably.

"Hey, don't overdo it, old man. You took a pretty big hit, and you're only making it feel worse. I'm feeling fine. I'm not hurting as much as you think." The silver-haired boy reassured him.

"Okay, then show me your hands." He commanded.

"I said I'm fine!" Killua tried to defend himself, but Bisky grabbed his arm and tugged on it. The blonde gave him a warning look, leaving him with no other choice. When he pulled his hand out, I widened my eyes and gasped lightly.

It was gravely injured from Gon's ability, almost as if it was about to be burned off. I couldn't believe he didn't use any Nen in his hands when he was holding the ball.

"Just as I thought. I bet you can't feel anything but pain!" Tsezguerra remarked.

Killua yanked his arm out of Bisky's grip. "I can do this! I can take one more ball! Gon, I know I can do this!"

"Impossible! Gon, help me convince him." The man begged him.

"I...I already knew." The spiky-haired boy responded, and he slightly widened his eyes.

"I knew...that Killua's hands were messed up. I'm sorry, Mr. Tsezguerra, but I won't move out of court. I need Killua to hold the ball for me. I can't do this without him!"

Both Killua and I were taken aback by his response, never expecting something like that from him.

"If Lynn, Biscuit, or Hisoka held it, I probably couldn't use my full strength. There's only one reason I can focus everything I got on hitting the ball. It's because Killua's holding it for me."

I was staring at him with eyes filled with admiration. If I were to be put in Killua's position, Gon would have never got the chance to hit Razor with the ball. Those two felt such a connection to each other that they could do anything together.

"But if Lizzy was the one holding the ball, I would doubt that she can handle the power of my ability. I could still hit the ball with everything I got. She is my friend after all, and I love her very much." Gon turned to the unconscious Lizzy lying next to Goreinu, his eyes becoming compassionate as he looked at her. "But she's knocked out, so I couldn't get her to hold the ball for me."

He felt remorseful for not being with her in the court when she got hit by one of Razor's throws.

"And that's when I knew Killua would be the one holding the ball for me. I feel most confident when he's there. Because he's my best friend, and like I said, I can't do this without him!"

My mouth was wide open when I heard everything he said about Lizzy holding the ball. I knew he had feelings for her, and how he would have felt more confident if she was there with him, ready to deliver the final blow to Razor.

Killua closed his eyes and smiled. "So, do you get it now, old man? Go get some rest." He said to Tsezguerra.

"I understand. I'm counting on you!" Tsezguerra went to sit down with his men and watch the rest of the match.

"Hisoka, give me the ball." Bisky ordered the magician, and he complied.

"We will now resume the match!" The referee announced as the blonde woman stepped up to the outside of the court, holding the ball in her hand.

"Honestly, I'm not very good at throwing!" She yelled as she tried her best to throw the ball at Razor, then the ball swerved to his left and his last teammate attempted to dodge it, but its leg got hit.

"Now we're even." She smiled, and most of us cheered.

"Brilliant! She hit it at just the right angle so the ball would rebound to us." The man with curly hair stated.

But the creature kicked the ball up high and fell down, preventing the ball from rebounding to us.

"Number 2 is out!" The referee announced.

"That leaves us with..." Hisoka paused, gaping at the purple-haired man catching the ball.

"Razor by himself." Gon finished.

"Okay, we have to regain possession of the ball first." Killua told us.

"Of course." He then realized something. "One sec."

The four of us got together and he explained his plan to us. When he finished, we understood his point.

"I see. That sounds fun." Hisoka remarked.

"Yeah. But I'm not sure it'll work, though." Killua replied.

"If we mess up one bit, it's all over." I added, being serious.

"Oh, I'd love to give it a try!" The redhead exclaimed in delight.

"Let's give it a shot, you guys." Gon urged.

"Okay." Killua agreed.

"Fine by me." I replied.

"I believe that settles it." Being the pervert he was, Hisoka turned away and covered his mouth with one hand, trying to hide his titillating excitement.

"Oh, man." I sighed, placing a hand on my head and the other on my hip.

"Man, you always come up with the craziest ideas, don't you?" The silver-haired boy frowned, and Gon only laughed sheepishly.

"I'm counting on you guys."

"We will now resume the match!" The referee announced, and we all turned to Razor, determined and eager to win.

The man snapped his fingers, and all of his teammates started disappearing one by one.

"What's up with Razor's Nen beasts?" Gon asked.

I see what he's doing. He drew back the aura he dispersed in order to maximize his power. His next throw will be immensely powerful!

Razor focused all of his aura into the ball before tossing it up in the air. Sticking to Gon's plan, I got into my position. I placed my hands on Gon's shoulders and spread my feet apart. I was behind Killua and in front of Hisoka, in which I was slightly uncomfortable at first, but then I got used to it.

Razor spiked the ball with all his might, with everyone watching us as we braced ourselves for catching the ball. Following the plan, I used Ko on both of my legs to keep all of us from being knocked out of the court. I held on to Gon as he strained to stop the ball's momentum. I also strained to keep ourselves in place. Killua used all of his aura around his body to keep the four of us from taking any damage. As my role as a brace, and Killua's as a cushion, both of us have to make a tremendous effort in keeping all of us from sustaining major damage and being knocked out of the court and losing the whole match.

Hisoka used Bungee Gum to keep Gon from dropping the ball. But what I believed was that Killua and I were vital to our plan. If I had failed to work as a brace, all of us would be knocked out of the court and we would immediately lose. If Killua had failed to work as a cushion, all of us would take major damage from the ball's impact.

We gave it our all to make sure we got possession of the ball. Smoke filled around us. Everyone outside of the court watched anxiously as they were hoping that we could catch the ball in this formation. As soon as the momentum of the ball had stopped, we skidded to a halt, and the smoke started to clear.

When everyone saw that we had caught the ball, they cheered loudly. I sighed with relief as soon as I heard all the cheering. We parted from our positions and moved on to the next part: having Gon punch the ball to eliminate Razor from the match once and for all.

Killua being careless of his injuries held the ball in front of Gon, ready to endure the pain one last time. That idiot would hear from me after the match.

Gon built up even more aura than before, awing me. I noticed Razor tense up from witnessing the boy's immense power. Gon turned to Killua, who was smiling at the thought of winning.

"Killua, I'm going to give it my all." He stated.

"You better! Or else I'll smack you!" The silver-haired boy threatened.

"Now, show me Rock!" The attack grew more powerful, impressing Razor greatly.

"Jan! Ken! Rock!!" Using this much power, Gon punched the ball as hard as he could, sending it speeding towards Razor. I smirked, knowing that he couldn't catch it or dodge it.

But Razor focused all of his aura in his hands, ready to bump the ball again. That would only give Hisoka the opportunity to catch it again. Or what other strategy did he have that I didn't know yet?

The ball crashed into his hands, and Razor bumped it again. But this time, he bumped it back at us!

"Oh shit!" I exclaimed.

"Dodge it, Gon! You'll still win!" Tsezguerra shouted.

"No, he won't dodge! That isn't how he wants to win! I've learned that much about him during the match!" Razor stated, shouting back.

However, before the ball could even hit him, Gon suddenly fell down, and the ball hovered over him.

"Gon!" I shouted, then I realized what happened.

He must have used up a lot of aura for his attack. That's why he collapsed. He must be so exhausted right now.

"You can take pride in this. You've won, Gon." I heard Tsezguerra say.

Hisoka stretched his Bungee Gum with his hands in front of him. "Not quite yet."

"Why would you do that?!" Tsezguerra yelled at him.

"Only a flawless victory will do. Right, Gon?" The magician muttered.

The ball crashed into his Bungee Gum, its momentum not even tearing his elastic-like aura one bit. I widened my eyes in amazement as he deflected the ball back at Razor at the same unbelievable speed.

Razor tried to deflect it back, but the ball seemed like it was stuck on his hands. Using Gyo, I knew that Hisoka's Bungee Gum was trapping the ball so that Razor couldn't be able to bounce it back to us again.

He was getting pushed back, smoke filling the area around him. Everyone watched nervously as it started to clear, and it was revealed that Razor was outside of the court with the ball still stuck on his hands.

"Catching the ball while the body is outside of the court is illegal! Razor is out! The winner of the match is Team Gon!" The referee announced our victory, and everyone on our team cheered loudly. I smiled widely and stopped using Gyo.

I saw Gon sitting up, and I was glad he did his best to help us win.

"What happened at the very end?" He asked.

"Oh, Hisoka used his Bungee Gum to deflect the ball back at Razor and stick it to his hands so that he couldn't deflect it back at us again. It was a flawless win." I explained.

"Really? So then he clinched it for us."

"Or in the end, he stole all our glory, but that depends on how you look at it." Killua grinned.

"It's because we all worked together. It was a team victory." Hisoka closed his eyes and smiled at us.

"That doesn't sound like you at all." Gon innocently stated.

"Yeah Hisoka, you really don't sound like yourself." I sarcastically replied, and Killua just snickered.

"I lose." Razor spoke up, and we turned to him. "As promised, we will leave town immediately."

"Oh, yeah." Gon said, forgetting that we were trying to get rid of him and the pirates.

"That was the game's purpose." Killua replied.

"And you guys completely forgot about it." I crossed my arms and gave them an amused look.

"But first, I will answer your question about Ging, and I will tell you everything I know about him." Razor sounded serious when mentioning Ging, sparking a hint of curiosity in Gon.

"OW!" Killua winced from the stinging pain of his bruised hands. I watched Bisky wrap some bandages around his injuries. My arms were already patched up, still hurting like hell.

"Honestly, you were so reckless! No wonder your hands are all messed up!" She scolded the poor boy as he stared at Gon and Razor talking. "Hey, are you even listening?!"

"A total idiot would've gotten an injury worse than yours. You're just lucky that your hands didn't burn off like I expected." I scowled, my arms crossed over my chest.

"Excuse me?! Your arms were hurt because you were careless enough to use them as a shield!" Killua screamed.

"Well, at least I used my Nen to protect them!" I countered.

"That doesn't really matter to me! We wouldn't have won the game if I held Gon back from taking out Razor!"

"At least no one died, including you. If you want to be reckless like Gon, go ahead and try, but don't let me try to stop you." I closed my eyes and turned my head away in contempt. Killua gritted his teeth and growled, an irk mark on his head.

I heard Lizzy groaning as she woke up, clutching her head. Her bruised cheek was patched up by one of Tsezguerra's men after she was out.

"Lizzy! Are you okay?" I worriedly asked.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine." She grunted in pain, holding her right cheek. "What happened? Did we win?"

"Of course we did. But you," My tone became dead serious. "You were so heedless of the consequences that you got yourself injured by attempting to use your ability on the ball! You could've been killed for God's sake! I was so worried about you, you know!"

She hung her head down in shame. "I'm sorry. I didn't have any idea if my ability could work on fast-moving objects. Well, now I know."

I sighed deeply.

"Lizzy! You're awake!" Gon beamed as he ran to her.

"Oh, Gon. I—" She was cut off by the boy wrapping his arms around her.

"I'm sorry that I couldn't be able to protect you. I was so focused on beating Razor that I didn't have a chance to be with you all the time while playing."

"No, it's okay."

He parted and stared at her emerald eyes, then Lizzy spoke up.

"So, what about Ging? Tell me, is he here on Greed Island?" She asked, burning with curiosity.

The dark-haired boy closed his eyes. "I'm afraid not."

"Oh." She frowned.

"But don't worry. We'll find him, I promise." Gon grabbed her hands and lifted them up to her face. I eyed the two of them closely as they gazed at each other's eyes, feeling nothing but devotion to each other.

She smiled with determination and nodded. I felt like they could make a great pair someday.

We met up with the female NPC from before and she took us up to the top of the lighthouse.

"This is the place." She gestured to the window, us seeing the wonderful view.

"A window?" Bisky asked.

"We can see the shore from here." Tsezguerra pointed out.

"So, how do we reach Poseidon's Cavern from here?" Goreinu asked.

The lady turned on the light, and the ray shone at a specific point in the ocean.

"Whoa..." Lizzy breathed in wonder.

"Directly underneath that point, where the light shines, there's an underground cavern. But you won't find any treasure, because there isn't any there. I'm terribly sorry for deceiving you."

"There isn't any treasure?" Goreinu asked.

"It's sacred ground, so only a few fishermen know the exact location. All other stories you've heard were just rumors, including the stories about treasure. But Razor and his pirates wouldn't believe us. Those who live off the sea can never defile it. That's what they said, right before they were all killed, and buried with their secrets." She solemnly explained.

"Hey. Don't forget, this is a story within a video game, okay?" Killua told Gon, who seemed to be lost in thought.

"Ah, I can finally see the ocean from here again. The rising sun, the boats returning with their hauls, the water sparkling in many colors. To me, this is the greatest treasure of them all." The woman turned into a card, earning us the Strip of Beach card.

"Yes! We finally got Strip of Beach!" Gon exclaimed.

"Alright!" Lizzy cheered.

"Let's use Clone and make two more copies!" Killua suggested.

"We're fine taking the copies." Goreinu stated.

"Yes, you deserve the original." Tsezguerra replied. We then noticed Hisoka walking down the stairs.

"Are you sure you don't want anything Hisoka?" Gon asked.

"Nope, I've had enough fun." The redhead replied.

"Hey, why don't you join us?" Killua offered, and I know why he wanted him to stay with us.
