《A Twist to Our Futures (Killua X OCs X Gon)》Greed Island - Chapter 5

We were dashing through the forest on our way to Masadora, with the blonde girl still following us.
"So, what should we do with her?" Gon asked, looking back at the girl running a couple of feet behind us.
"Just ignore her. Once the bandits show up, we'll have a chance to ditch her." Killua coldly stated.
"But that'll be mean!" Lizzy whined, pouting at him.
"What are you talking about? She passed, so she must have strong Nen abilities. She should be able to escape if it gets rough."
I rolled my eyes and continued running along with the boys for a while. The girl was still behind us, not showing any signs of fatigue.
"I didn't think she'd be able to keep up with us for this long. I'm impressed." I said, looking back at the blonde girl.
We suddenly came to a halt, seeing some of the bandits emerge from the trees. They were about to attack us, but ended up bowing down to us.
"Please help us! We beg you!" Some of them coughed, us staring at them in confusion.
A young boy was lying in bed with a fever. The bandits took us to their place to help them, and they started explaining the situation between them.
"Aww. Poor boy." Lizzy whimpered, feeling bad for the sick boy.
"A disease is spreading—" One of them coughed, then continued speaking. "It starts with a mild fever that progressively gets worse and worse until it gets fatal."
"All we can do is use medicine to keep the fever at bay." The elder coughed. "But sadly, the medicine only works for a week."
"It is also incredibly expensive and–" Another one coughed. "We've run out of money. We're all sick, so we're unable to steal anything." He kept coughing, raising my concern of being near them.
"Is it contagious?" I whispered.
"Nah. It's probably just a scenario in the game." Killua whispered back.
"Help us! My son only has two or three days to live!" The father cried.
"Could you be so kind to spare us some money? Every bit helps." The elder begged us.
"This is part of the game, right?" Gon asked Killua.
"Yeah. If we give them money, they should provide us with good items or important information." He implied.
"We'll be glad to give you the money. How much do you need?" I kindly asked.
"80,000 Jenny." The elder coughed.
"But that's all we have." Gon muttered.
"It sounds like they know everything about us." Killua replied.
"We'll each spend 20,000 Jenny. Hopefully they'll get better soon." I said with a sympathetic tone.
"Umm, excuse me." The blonde spoke up, and we turned our heads to her. "I have enough to cover 80,000 Jenny."
"Uhh, excuse me, could you shut up for a moment?" The ex-assassin rudely talked back.
"Killua!" I sharply hissed. He rolled his eyes and ignored the girl's fuming look.
"Okay, got it. We can give you the 80,000 Jenny." Gon happily agreed to help them.
"You will?" The elder cried.
"Oh, thank you so much! You've saved my poor son's life!" The father expressed his gratitude for our help.
"I'm—cold. So cold." The sick boy managed to speak out.
"Oh no! If his body gets any colder, he's going to die before we even get him any medicine! If only we had some children's clothes! Why don't we have any clothes!" He sobbed.

We looked at each other, worried about the poor boy's health.
"I can give you what I'm wearing." Gon offered.
"I'll give you my jacket if you like." Lizzy added, smiling sincerely.
"But Lizzy—!" I tried to protest but the father interrupted me.
"Oh my! Will you, really?" The father cried.
"You're like angels sent to us from heaven! Your words are not enough..." The elder paused, tears of joy streaming down his face.
"To express the depths of our gratitude!" The father finished, his eyes watering.
"Oh, you don't need to thank us." Lizzy raised a hand, her smile lightening their spirits.
You have got to be kidding me, Lizzy...
I showed a sign of disapproval of her decision to give away her cropped denim jacket Grandma Millie gave her as a birthday present to help save someone's life. She did have a big heart, and she preferred to help anyone than being selfish of her own needs.
"How about some information or items?" Killua requested, but they backed away.
"Great. They took our money and your clothes in exchange for nothing." I sighed. "So much for helping out some bandits."
"That boy was very sick! He would've died if we didn't pay them what we have." Lizzy reasoned.
"Well, you didn't have to give away your precious jacket for that!" I retorted.
"It was no big deal. Besides, I have lots more." She kept up her pace with the boys as we were running through the forest. I didn't mind the stinging pain in my arm as I swayed it back and forth.
"We were tricked. And now we're broke." I sighed again.
"But as soon as we get past the mountain, we'll find lots of monsters, right?" Gon asked.
"Yeah. If we catch them and turn them into cards, we'll sell them for lots of cash!" Killua replied with interest.
"And then we can finally start fighting!" He cheered.
"You bet! Time to see what you've got!"
"Right back at ya! I want to see what you've accomplished during your secret training."
"Oh, yeah! I can't wait to see your abilities!" Lizzy giggled.
We reached a cliff and stared at the rocky area stretching far away. We looked at each other before jumping off the cliff, running on the rocks below. Lizzy, being the clumsy one, stumbled and tumbled her way down. She lightly moaned in pain, and I helped her up, mentally facepalming as we both ran to see some weird monsters emerging from behind the rocks.
"Woah! There are tons of 'em!" Gon exclaimed.
"Oh my God." Lizzy breathed in total shock.
One of them swung its rocky bat down at them, and they jumped back. Gon hopped up and concentrated all of his aura into his fist, then landed a punch on the one-eyed monster. It did nothing, and the monster tried to land a counterattack, but missed.
Another monster swung down its rocky bat at Lizzy and I, and we hurried out of the way before it could crush us. I conjured my rings and activated my earth ring.
"Stone Strike!" I smashed the ground with my aura, causing huge stones to pop up towards the monster, making it stumble and fall down. It eventually got up and dashed towards me.
"Windy Roar!" I activated my wind ring, the wind pushing me upwards. I quickly deactivated it and activated my fire ring.
"Scorching Inferno!" My palm emitted a ball of fire at its face, and it growled in pain. I dodged its punch and landed safely on the ground.

I saw Killua punching another one in the eye, and it winced before turning into a card.
"Guys! Aim for the eye!" He called out to us.
"I got it!" Gon charged up his attack again and landed another punch, this time to the eye. The monster growled in pain and turned into a card.
"Well, in that case...Windy Roar!" I thrust myself in the air once again and deactivated the ability.
"Aqua Spritz!" The water ring lit up, and I squirted its eye with a burst of water. The one-eyed monster roared in great pain before it turned into a card. Smiling, I grabbed the card and summoned my binder to put it inside.
I saw Lizzy manipulating her baton to where another monster's eye was and striking it with it, and that monster also turned into a card. My smile grew wider at her power, proud of how strong she had become.
After fighting a ton of monsters, we kept all of the cards in our binders, except for the one that reverted back into the defeated monster after leaving it alone for a whole minute.
"Alright! We did it!" Lizzy cheered, raising her baton.
"Now, we should focus on collecting cards by defeating monsters and going to Masadora." I suggested.
"All of these monsters come with a built-in weakness. If we stay calm and think, we'll be fine." Killua stated. "Alright! Let's head for Masadora!"
"Yeah!" Both Gon and Lizzy cheered in unison.
But after we'd moved a few steps, a giant purple lizard blocked our way, sticking its bluish-green tongue out.
"You have got to be kidding me..." I muttered.
All of us immediately ran for our lives, Lizzy, Gon, and Killua screaming as the lizard slowly moved closer to us. We then sprinted to a rock and hid behind it. The giant purple lizard stopped to take a look around where we were hiding. It did not spot any of us and left, us sighing in relief.
A fluffy black puffball came into our view, catching our attention. It bounced into Gon's chin, startling us.
"Gon!" Lizzy cried.
The said boy regained his balance and smiled reassuringly. "I'm okay. That didn't even hurt at all. This one's pretty weak."
The puffball bounced around in an insane speed. My eyes couldn't keep up with its movements.
"But it's really fast!" Killua added.
"Let's try to catch it!" I suggested.
We tried our best to catch the speedy puffball, but it was too damn fast. It bounced into Gon's chin again, and then it bounced into the back of Lizzy's head, causing her to stumble and fall down. She whined, flailing her arms and legs around.
After failing to catch it, it got away. We were disappointed, but we continued our way to Masadora.
"Oh, man. We couldn't catch that puffball." Lizzy frowned.
"If the monsters are this weak, we'll be able to reach Masadora in no time!" Killua said.
We continued our path until we saw a horse come out from behind one of the rocks ahead. It released red and white bubbles from its mouth, spreading around us.
"Whoa, bubbles..." Lizzy popped a white bubble, and a loud noise was released, making her yelp. Several more bubbles crashed into us, releasing more loud noises. The horse was gone, leaving its bubbles behind.
Killua popped another white bubble. "It's loud and generates a shock wave. But it doesn't do any damage." He stated.
Gon touched a red bubble, but it didn't pop. "The red ones don't pop when you touch them." He added.
The red bubble popped when it came into contact with a rock. "It does pop when it comes into contact with something else." I stated further.
"Let's keep going." Killua said, and we nodded.
We encountered lots of monsters including a worm monster, slime monster, and a weird flying one-eyed monster, all of which we couldn't defeat with our physical attacks and Nen abilities. We were now face to face with a suit of armor that moved on its own.
"Wow! This one looks a lot tougher!" Gon exclaimed.
"Can we actually beat it?" Lizzy asked as the suit of armor moved closer to us.
"Gyo!" We heard the blonde girl shout, and we turned to see her standing on top of a rock. "C'mon, keep your eyes on it! Use Gyo! Don't you know how?"
We all did what she told us and used Gyo. "See? The armor's just a puppet, so attacks won't work against it!" The girl shouted.
The armor attacked us with its sword, and we dodged it. I followed the path of aura and found out that a rat was controlling it. It turned into a card, and I collected it and ran back to the others.
"I got the card!" I proudly asserted, holding up the card. I summoned my book and placed it in a free slot.
The blonde girl jumped down from her spot, a knowing look visible on her face. "So you guys and girls can use Gyo. Why didn't you use it before? Huh?" She scolded us for our mindless thinking.
"Uh, well I..." Killua trailed off.
"We, uh..." Lizzy scratched the back of her head.
"Yeah." Gon nervously chuckled, and I was silent.
"You forgot, didn't you?" She held up a finger, and we just stared at her in utter confusion.
"Don't just stand there! Use Gyo!" She yelled, and we immediately activated Gyo in our eyes. We saw her aura shaped like a number 1.
"What do you see?" She asked us.
"The number 1." We answered simultaneously.
"Very good. Now, listen up. When I lift my finger, I want you guys and girls to use Gyo. And then you yell out whatever you see. If you ever sense anything suspicious, use Gyo. Got it?"
"Hold on. Why are you ordering us around?" Killua snapped, but the girl ignored him and lifted her finger again.
"Oh, I see the number 5!" Gon pointed at her aura shaped like a number 5.
"There! The number 5!" Lizzy exclaimed.
"I, too, see the number 5." I replied.
"Correct." She pointed at Killua, who didn't even bother to answer. "You, drop and give me 200 push-ups." She ordered him.
"Huh?"
"It's your punishment! Get to it!"
"Hey, what the hell? Why should I?" The ex-assassin retorted, getting pissed of her demands.
"Got a problem, young man?"
"You bet!" He accusingly pointed a finger at the blonde. "Just who do you think you are, huh?"
"Oh, I forgot. I haven't introduced myself yet. I am Biscuit Krueger, and I am a Pro Hunter. I first learned Nen 40 years ago. Now, I'm going to use my knowledge and experience to coach you boys and girls. You all should be grateful." She smiled proudly.
"You learned Nen 40 years ago?!" Gon screamed in shock.
"Wait, so you're...you're..." Lizzy stuttered out.
"You're an old hag!" Killua insulted her, and she gave him a good punch to send him flying like a rocket.
I blankly stared at the blonde woman, who got herself together. Looks can be deceiving...
"Like I said, I am Biscuit Krueger, a professional Hunter. I don't like being formal, so you can just call me Bisky." The girl now known as Bisky introduced herself once again. "In return, you must obey every word of what I teach you. No questions asked."
"Ugh. No way and no thanks. We're not desperate enough to beg a total stranger to train us! Am I right Gon? Girls? Say something!" Killua roughly spoke, turning to us for our word.
"The thing is, we already have Mr. Wing teaching us." Gon innocently stated.
"He taught us all the basic Nen techniques and some of the advanced ones too." Lizzy added.
"Yeah, that's right! We already have a master, and we're not looking for anyone else to teach us!"
"Did you say Wing? You mean the little boy with the messy hair and glasses? The one who never tucks his shirt in?" Bisky described him.
"Wait. You know him?" I asked.
"Well, of course I do! Wing's one of my students, or he was." She stated.
"Wow! That's awesome!" Lizzy cheered.
"What a coincidence, huh?" Gon giggled.
"So he's become a master now, has he? I guess time really does fly. Does that mean you four are professional Hunters?" She asked.
"Yeah! Well, just the three of us here." Gon said, and Lizzy and I nodded.
"Did you pass the secret exam too?"
"Uh-huh." Lizzy nodded.
"That really takes me back." She thought of something for a second, then smiled. "Well, I am essentially your master's master, so we'll get that out of the way and let's start training, shall we?"

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
