《the 100: bellamy returns》epilogue

Birds come swooping down for a chance to snatch some vegetables from a garden.

This is not just any garden, though. It is the garden of a new earth. The garden of second chances. The garden of Clarke Griffin and Bellamy Blake.

The ground near the sea was not fit for planting a garden, so Bellamy and Clarke took their supplies and moved elsewhere. They relocated to the area near the bunker where so many trees thrived.

The pair decided to build yet another house in that area to be closer to their garden, and to prevent flooding. It would be terrible if one of their children was unexpectedly swept up by a wave of water.

Clarke is currently swatting away some of the many birds trying to steal the tomato she is holding.

"Birds like these almost make me miss the ark," Clarke says with a sigh.

"Mommy, mommy!" A little girl with brown curls runs towards her as she speaks. "Can I keep one?"

Clarke stares at her in confusion as she asks, "Octavia, do you really want to keep a bird as a pet?"

"Yes, yes I do!" Octavia cries.

Clarke is about to deny her request when Bellamy and Octavia's twin appear in front of them.

"Bell, Octavia wants to keep a bird as a pet. What do you think?" She inquired.

"I want a bird, too!" Little Abby exclaims, her blonde hair swinging all around.

Bellamy thinks about what to say before settling on, "Let's just stick with Picasso for now."

"Pleaseeeee," the little girls cry in unison.

"Well, I-," Bellamy is abruptly cut off by a large boom.

All of the birds squaw loudly as they fly away in a frenzy.

Clarke drops the tomato she is holding before she stands up and surveys the area. Looking towards the sea, she narrows her eyes to try to focus on what she is seeing.

There seems to be a bright light coming from the seashore.

"You girls go back to the house and stay inside," Clarke instructs. "Do not, for any reason at all, come out. Do you understand me?" Clarke questions.

The girls mumble, "Yes, mom," and make their way back.

Clarke looks at Bellamy who motions for Picasso to follow the twins. Picasso gallops after them to ensure they make it home safely.

Bellamy turns his gaze to Clarke and mutters, "I really thought we were done with all of this crazy stuff."

"Me too," Clarke replies. "Well, we better go check it out.

Clarke and Bellamy hold hands as they journey to the beach. Even after five years alone, with the exception of Octavia, Abby, and Picasso, their love is as strong as ever.

The pair finally arrive at their destination. Nothing appears to be out of the ordinary.

"I swear I saw a bright light right here!" Clarke exclaims, looking at Bellamy. "Maybe I'm just-."

Bellamy cuts her off.

"Octavia?" Bellamy asks, disbelief showing on his face.

"No, Bell. She's back at the house with Abby and Picasso." Clarke responds

Bellamy points to a figure in the distance. "I'm not talking about our Octavia, Clarke," Bellamy states.

Clarke spots the woman running towards them. It can't be her, can it? Clarke wonders if her eyes betray her, because the girl looks exactly like Octavia.

Their suspicions are confirmed when the girl exclaims, "We are back BITCHES!"

Clarke and Bellamy laugh with joy and astonishment when Octavia reaches them.

Bellamy reaches out a hand to touch her face, just to make sure she's real.

"O? Is it really you?" Bellamy asks.

"It's me, big brother. It really is." Octavia says, tears filling her eyes.

"I never thought we would see you again," Bellamy says, his own eyes filling with tears.

"Here I am, Bell," Octavia states as she pulls Clarke and Bellamy into a big group hug.

Clarke shakes her head in disbelief. "I can't believe you're here with us after so long," She says with a smile as the group hug disconnects.

"I'm not the only one back on Earth," Octavia says as she points to the spot Clarke saw the bright light earlier.

It's them.

All of them.

The rest of humanity.

Clarke catches a glimpse of Madi and runs towards her. Madi sees her at the same moment and sprints to meet her.

They meet somewhere in the middle and embrace each other with intensity.

"I- I never thought I was going to see you again, Madi," Clarke says as tears stream down her face.

"I never thought I was going to see you either," Madi says, smiling ear to ear.

Clarke pulls away from the hug and looks Madi in the eyes.

"I love you so much. You know that, right?" Clarke asks.

"Yes, Clarke, of course I know that. I love you too," Madi says, still in that shock she is back on Earth.

"How are you even here?" Clarke questions, confusion displayed across her face.

Madi turns back to where she ran from and says, "That's a question for Raven."

Clarke can't believe it. The Raven Reyes is right there on the beach. And it's not just Raven.

Murphy, Emori, Echo, Levitt, Miller, Jackson, Gaia, Indra, Hope, and Jordan are all walking with her.

Even Nikki, her people, and the remaining peoples from Sanctum and Bardo appear on the shore behind them.

Clarke cries tears of joy. She thought her numerous mistakes cost her everyone. Miraculously, Bellamy found his way back to her. But this? This is incredible. More than she deserves.

Madi grabs Clarke's arm, steadying her. It's almost as if she can read her thoughts, for she says, "This is what you deserve, Clarke. You sacrificed everything for us, so we wanted to come back and live out the rest of our days with the woman we love so much."

"I still don't understand. How are you here?" Clarke asks.

Raven finally arrives in front of Clarke along with all of the other humans.

"It's because of you Clarke, you and Bellamy," Raven says as Bellamy and Octavia join the group.

"The celestial judges saw how you created a new life on Earth," Raven continues. "A new life made on the basis of love and forgiveness. They saw how you lived peacefully down here with your daughters and Picasso. Speaking of which, where are they?" Raven asks as she surveys the area.

"They're actually back at the house because-," Clarke is immediately cut off by giggles and barking quickly approaching them. She whips her head around and sure enough, Octavia, Abby, and Picasso are coming straight towards her.

"I thought I told you girls to stay at the house," Clarke says, trying to be harsh, but epically failing because of how happy she is.

The four-year-old twins giggle.

"We heard new people," Octavia starts.

"We wanted to see them!" Abby finishes.

Clarke let's out a fake sigh while smiling and says, "These are the best people you could ever meet."

Octavia leaves Bellamy's side and stands beside Levitt. An object, something like a blanket, transfers from Levitt to Octavia. No, not a blanket. A baby!

"We have a lot of catching up to do," Levitt says with a laugh.

Octavia points to the baby. "This is little Lincoln," she says with a grin.

"We definitely do have a lot to catch up on," Hope says as she cradles her stomach that encases the already named baby girl, Diyoza. Jordan looks at her with love sparkling in is eyes like diamonds.

"I second that," Emori says with a laugh, holding baby Monty. Murphy smirks, unsuccessfully trying to hide his utter joy.

Miller and Jackson join hands and smile at the people surrounding them.

Echo shoots a smile at Bellamy, glad that he is alive and happy. Bellamy responds with a wide smile of his own.

The final surprise is Luca. Luca comes up to Madi and plants a gentle kiss on her cheek.

Madi blushes deeply before saying, "Yeah, let's take some time to talk."

The sun slowly begins to set, the sky looking as though it is filled with cotton candy and gold.

Bellamy and Clarke join hands and walk behind the twins, smiling wider than ever before. They're both still in a state of shock, but it is obvious they are beyond happy.

Everyone sits around a newly built campfire that was quickly thrown together by Raven, Murphy, and Emori.

Clarke takes a look around and blinks a few times, thinking that this could just be a simulation. How is it possible for her to have everything she's always wanted? Nothing ever seems to go her way.

Bellamy, possibly thinking the exact same sad thought, lightly lays his hand atop Clarke's own.

"This is it Clarke. We got what we wanted," Bellamy says with glee.

Clarke shakes her head. "I still can't believe it. Are we sure this isn't some simulation or test?" She inquired.

"No, Clarke, I'm not sure," Bellamy begins. "But I would rather spend time with my family and friends, real or not, than speculate." He says matter-of-factly.

"Yeah, you're right, Bell. Thank you," Clarke says as she plants a kiss on his cheek.

Bellamy lightly squeezes her hand and nods.

A clanking noise is heard from the opposite side of the flames. Octavia stands up with a spoon and cup in hand.

"Attention, everyone. Attention!" She exclaims. "I know most of us probably thought we would never see the green grass and blue waters of the earth in person ever again, but here we are. We need to take advantage of this opportunity... start over."

Whooping and cheering is heard throughout the group.

Bellamy rises to his feet. "This is a fresh start for the human race. Let's try not to mess it up too badly this time," he says with a stifled laugh.

All of the remaining people stand up as well, celebrating their return to earth.

"This is a our chance guys," Clarke begins. "Our chance to do better. Our chance to be better. May we make this life better than the last, and build it upon love, friendship, and goodness. Then, and only then, will we be successful." She finishes.

"Cheers to that," Murphy says, with his glass of liquid raised in the air.

"Cheers!" The group collectively says with their glasses raised high.

This was their chance.

Their chance at redemption after the horrible things they had done. This was their hope.

And so the human race continued to repopulate and expand. It may never reach the number it once peaked at, but it is a full earth nonetheless.

Future generations would look back upon the 100 delinquents and their adventures, grounders, the bunker, Sanctum, Bardo, and more with reverence. They would admire the obstacles past humans overcame, and also glean advice from their mistakes.

People of the future would look back upon this little group of people sitting around the campfire as heroes. They were in all the history books, and all of the databases.

Because of their love, bravery, and forgivenes, they were able to survive.

Who knows? Maybe one day they will transcend. Maybe one day they'll be seen as worthy.

But for now, this is all they need.

The flickering flames of the campfire as the sky darkens, and the stars that begin to twinkle above are beautiful lights in the darkness.

The group is reunited with their loved ones on Earth and they couldn't be happier.

For now, this is all they need.

For now, friends and family is all that matters.

For now, they are focusing on the present, not what may happen in the future.

Clarke and Bellamy share a final smile.

Humanity is saved.
