《Prisoner 138 {The 100} [1]》Chapter 7: Unity Day

Talking and movement from outside the tent woke me up one morning a few days after the events of everyone seeing things and going crazy. I sat up, rubbing my eyes as I swung my legs over the side of the bed, letting out a yawn before I pulled on my boots, hiding my knife in the laces like usual.
I moved the curtain to the side, only to see Jasper laying on his bed, watching Monty as he sat on the floor mixing together some kind of drink.
I looked over the pair as they froze, turning to me. "I'm not even going to ask." I put my hands up and walked past them, leaving the tent and looking for something to eat because I was starving.
I grabbed a small pouch of berries and nuts, crazy nut free, and made my way over to a group of teenagers who had all gathered around a monitor that was taken from the dropship and set up as a TV, with the Chancellors face on it. He was going on about Unity day and how important it was to everyone, not mentioning it was all a lie though.
The Ark came together only after the 13th station was blown out of the sky as an example to the rest of the stations if they didn't comply. Unity day was built by the deaths of many, just like a bunch of other dumb holidays.
"Monty strikes again!" Jasper yelled running out of the tent, goggles covering his eyes as he held a pot in the air. "We'll call this batch Unity Juice!" Everyone cheered as he began to hand out cups of whatever the hell it was that Monty had made. Jasper handed me a cup and I held it up to my nose to sniff it and almost gagged at the sour stench.
I walked back into the tent were Monty still sat mixing more stuff together, taking a seat on Jasper bed and watching him. "You going to drink the juice?" Monty asked pointing to my filled cup.
I shook my head, setting it on the ground beside me. "After the other night, I choose to not consume things that could alter my thinking."
He smirked, shaking his head. "It won't 'alter your thinking' I promise."
"With you, I'm not so sure." I chuckled.
Jasper stumbled into the tent, his hair all over the place and he was out of breath. "We're going to need more Unity Juice, these people are going crazy." Monty and I exchanged looks before chuckling to ourselves. "Hey, you going to drink that?" he asked. I shook my head. "Alright more for me." He grabbed the cup and drank the whole thing in one gulp, not leaving a single drop.
The day seemed to go by in a flash because before I knew it, the sun had disappeared, replacing it light with darkness and the feeling of recklessness and enjoyment. Everyone was actually having fun, fooling around and talking by the fire, playing a few games they made up.
I, being the loner I am, was sat up in my tree looking over everyone while carving into the trunk. I prefer observing rather than participating, that's just how I am, I wasn't really in the mood for fun anyway. So far I had got half my carving done when I decided to take a quick break.
I looked over the crowd of delinquents, smiling when I saw Clarke playing a game with Fox and Miller. She's been working way too hard, so it was nice to see her loosen up for a change and having some fun.

"Ow." I looked down below me to see Bellamy climbing up the tree before taking a seat next to me on the branch.
"What did you do?" I asked, holding back a chuckle.
"I cut my hand on the tree," he explained, holding his wrist, examining the small cut in his hand.
I gave him a nod. "You'll be fine, it's just a scrape." He laughed looking down at his palm. "So, how'd you know I was up here?" I questioned.
"I was looking for you and Jasper said you would probably be up here. What were you doing?"
"Nothing, just thinking." I lied.
He shook his head, "No, no. You were doing something, you just don't want me to know about it."
Letting out a sigh, I told him. "Okay fine, I was carving into the tree." I pointed to carvings.
He looked over at it, his eyebrows crinkled together. "What are these? Names?" Bellamy asked, reaching his hand out to feeling the carving of each letter as he read them over, only to stop at the names Charlotte and Atom. He frowned and looked over at me. "How have you been doing since, you know?" He asked, not outright saying it but hoping I would get the hint so he wouldn't have to say her name.
No matter how much Bellamy plays off his appearance of a stone cold bad boy, who doesn't care about anyone but himself and his sister, I will always be able to see right past his hard exterior and see him for who he really is. Charlotte's death did take a toll on him, as much as he doesn't want to admit it, it did, he blames himself for her death, believing he could have done more for her. I know because I feel the exact same way.
Bellamy is just like the rest of us. He's a kid that was thrust into the dark reality of life and forced to grow up quicker than intended in order to take care of his sister. He has the same broken and defeated look in his eyes as most of the other teenage delinquents that were sent to the ground to die.
I shrugged, looking down at my hands, picking at the sick around my nails. "I miss her a lot. I miss talking to her and telling her my stupid jokes that she would always laugh at. She was the only other kid my age and we got so close so fast." My voice broke as I spoke.
Bell rubbed my back gently. "You know, It's okay to be upset, Ari." I nodded wiping away a stray tear. "It's alright to cry and miss her, I miss her too."
"You barely knew her." I unintentionally snapped, instantly feeling bad.
"That doesn't mean it hurts any less."
I sighed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean that." I paused for a moment biting my lip, "I just can't help but think there was more that I could have done to save her."
"You can't think like that Ari, there's nothing anyone could have done. We didn't know she was gonna do what she did-"
"I could have stopped her from leaving that damn bunker." Tears began to fall as the memories of that night came flooding back. "If I had just told her to go back to bed and wait it out till morning, she could still be here."
Bellamy nodded his head. "Maybe, but after what she did to Wells, she carried a lot of guilt with her and who's to say she wouldn't have still done what she did a few days later when she was alone." I used the back of my hand to wipe away a few of my fallen tears. "It's not your fault Ari, you weren't even near the edge of that cliff, Murphy was holding you back. If anyone could of stopped Charlotte it was me. I was standing right next to her and I just let her turn around and..." He could barely finish his sentence before his voice broke. I reached for his hand and held onto it tightly. "Can we get out of this damn tree?" I nodded and the two of us climbed down, awkwardly standing in front of each other for a moment, not saying a word.

"You were right Bellamy." For the first time in the entire conversation, he looked me in the eyes, seeming a bit confused by my statement. I let out a sigh leaning on the tree and sliding to the ground, pulling my knees to my chest. "It's no one's fault. It's not mine or yours." I looked up at the sky as Bell took a seat next to me, leaning again the same tree trunk. We sat comfortably before I spoke again. "Can I ask you something?"
He nodded, turning to give me his full attention. "Ye-yeah, of course."
Taking a deep breath, I licked my dry lips as I reworded the question in my head a few times before asking it. "This is probably weird to ask but...do you, do you think we go somewhere after we die? Like do you believe Charlotte's in heaven or something?"
He looked unsure of what to say, taking a moment to think before he spoke. "Well, I would like to think that we find some kind of peace after we die. I can't be positive, but I'm sure Charlotte's somewhere nice." Bellamy answered perfectly, putting his arm around my shoulders as a way to comfort me. He wiped away the rest of my tears with his thumb, giving me smile and letting me struggle into his side.
"Thank you," I said quietly resting my head against his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
He responded by rubbing my back and whispering "You're welcome, Kid. Just know you're not alone." I closed my eyes and held him close. We sat like that for a while, just enjoying each others company.
However, it was long before we were interrupted. "Bellamy, can I talk to you?" Clarke asked walking up to us.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes that had grown puffy from my crying just a few minutes before. "Uh..." Bell turned to me, not sure if she should leave a little girl who was clearly still upset about the death of her friend. I gave him a nod, telling him that it was okay. "You sure?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'll be fine. I'm probably just gonna go to bed anyways."
"If you need anything just find me okay," he said getting up from his position on the ground next to me.
I smiled. "I will, I promise." The two walked out of hearing distance, trying to talking in private but my nosy self couldn't let that happen. So after a few minutes of waiting, I quietly got up and went in the direction they did, making sure to keep a safe distance between us. I hid behind a tree as I listened in on their conversation.
Clarke had planned a meeting between her and the leader of the Grounders, to discuss a truce. It was Finn's idea to have Lincoln, the Grounder that we had kept hostage and that Octavia was slowly falling in love with, to talk to his leader about us. He didn't want to bring any weapons to show that we didn't mean any harm but of course Clarke thought otherwise.
"I need you to come be our backup. Bring guns," was the last thing I heard Clarke say before walking off in the opposite direction to Bellamy.
I followed behind Bellamy without him realizing it, watching as he walked into the dropship and coming out with three loaded guns. He looking around to make sure no one was watching, ironically.
I continued to follow him, staying a few feet behind and making sure to be extra quiet. Next, he walked into Raven's tent. I kept a safe spot behind a tree, not wanting to be caught just yet. Jasper was next to walk into the tent, then Finn.
I tried to get closer so I could listen to their conversation but it was no use. I would look suspicious if I stood any closer and from where I was it was impossible to hear their hushed conversation over the loud group of teenagers still celebrating the holiday.
After a few minutes, they finally walked out of the tent, heading for the gate without telling anyone.
I quickly followed them, doing the best I could to catch up. "Hey!" I called out. "Where are you guys going?"
The group stopped, turning to see me. "We're going to try and make peace with the Grounders," Bell explained.
I glanced down at the large guns in their arms. "You're going to make peace with them, using guns?" I asked. They silently looked between one another, not sure how to respond. "I'm coming too," I said standing tall.
Bellamy immediately shook his head. "No way, you're staying here."
"You can't stop me," I snapped as he turned to walk away from me.
"Ari, it's just too dangerous," Jasper explained. "So much could go wrong and we don't want you getting caught in the crossfire." I crossed my arms, sending him a glare."Monty!" he yelled to his best friend who wasn't too far. "Watch Ari, make sure she doesn't go anywhere."
Monty nodded, standing next to me. We watched as the group made their way out of the gate and into the woods.
To hell, if they actually think I'm staying here. I crossed my arms, standing next to Monty. "So..." he trailed off.
"Goodbye," I sassed walking away from him.
"Ari, you're not supposed to leave camp!" Monty called after me.
"Does it look like I care?" I yelled back.
He let out a sigh, looking around him, unsure of what to do, deciding to ultimately let me do what I wanted. "Alright then."
I waited until I thought the group was far enough and climbed over the fence, walking in the same direction they went. It was hard to see in the dark, but I was able to catch up to them while still keeping a far distance.

I like to story build, to craft a universe, so don't expect quick action. Can be a bit of a heavy info read at times so if you don't like that best steer away. Chapters are expected to be at least 1 a week perhaps 2 a week depending on response and how much of an inspiration I get. Credits to multiple authors(too many to count/remember) of both web/light novels and the authors here on RRL for inspiration.
