《Prisoner 138 {The 100} [1]》Chapter 6: Crazy

I hadn't been out of bed in days. I had no energy whatsoever and I felt as if there was no reason for me to get up. I barely even ate or drank water, not that there was much of either to go around. I stayed in the same spot, wrapped in a blanket just listening as people come and went from the dropship. It wasn't until the afternoon of the third day after Charlotte's passing that I actually sat up and took in my surrounding.

Sitting a few feet from me was a girl who looked about 18 wearing a red jacket who I don't think I've ever seen before. I went to say something but was stopped by a sudden raw and burning sensation in my throat. I could barely open my mouth to speak, it was so dry.

The girl noticed this and turned to face me. "Oh hey, welcome back kid." She smiled before going back to the device she was working on. I sat up a little more, looking around.

Where is Bellamy? I tried to ask, but could barely get one word out. Each time I opened my mouth it felt like my throat was on fire. "I don't know anything, just got here yesterday. You were still out." She said putting a set of headphones on her head.

Almost on cue, Jasper walked into the dropship, and his face lit up as soon as he came in. "You're up!" he said with much joy before bouncing over to me. "How are you doing? Are you okay?"

I nodded, rubbing my neck and trying to talk. "Water," I managed to choke out. Jasper quickly grabbed me a cup of water, handing it to me slowly. I drank it almost all in one ship, not leaving a single drop. I held the empty cup in my lap, circling the rim. "So it wasn't a dream?" I asked.

Jasper shook his head before looking down, not able to make eye contact. "We were told about it the night you guys got back. I'm so sorry Ari, I know you and Charlotte were close-"

"Hey, how are you doing?" Clarke asked walking into the dropship, cutting Jasper off.

I put my hand to my head. "I have a headache."

She nodded, examining my face closer, looking at my eyes to see if my pupils were dilated. "Yeah, you're going to feel a bit light headed for awhile, you haven't drank a lot of water so you're probably dehydrated. It should go away soon and you'll be alright, just keep drinking water and don't got running around." She gave me a smile before walking over to Raven, asking her a few things.

"So, what did I miss?" I asked as Jasper sat down on the bed next to me rubbing his hands together with a smile.

"Where do I even begin?" He said more like a statement.

For the next 20 minutes we sat in the dropship as he told me everything that has happened since we got back.

I nodded as he finished his last sentence. "So, just to summarize, Ravens from the Ark, you guys had to set off missiles to try to get the Ark to believe we're alive, but it didn't work so 300 people were killed to save oxygen. Octavia was taken by a grounder, that same grounder also stabbed Finn, poisoning him, so Clarke had to save him. Then Bellamy took the grounder and has him locked on the top floor of the dropship. Raven fixed some radio from her pod so now we have contact with the Ark. Is that it?" I asked, summing up everything he said.

Jasper nodded. "Yeah, pretty much."

"You sure I was only gone 3 days?" I chuckled.

He smiled, looking down at his lap. "Oh we also collected a bunch of nuts and berries and there are groups going out to hunt too," Jasper said pulling some berries out from his pocket. "Here, you must be hungry."

He held out the handful to me. I lifted my arm up and noticed just how pale I was as he poured them into my small hand. I picked one up and plopped it onto my tongue, the juice filled my mouth as I crushed it with my teeth. This made me realize how hungry I actually was. I shoved the rest of my handful into my mouth, not really caring.

"Slow down there," Jasper laughed patting my shoulder. He stood up and held his hand out to me, "Come on, let's go say hi to people." I reluctantly took it, not really wanted to get out of bed, but I knew I had to. The words Bellamy told me played in my head on repeat, 'Weakness is death.' I didn't want people to think I was weak, they already just see me as this little girl and I hated that.

Jasper helped me up and as I set my legs on the ground, they went numb, stinging a little bit every time I took a step. He held my hand as he walked outside of the dropship.

The sun was so bright to me because I hadn't been outside, I held my hand up to shield my eyes so I could let them adjust a bit.

Jasper lead me over to a table filled with different types of nuts and berries. "Looks who's awake." Monty smiled throwing a nut in the air and catching it in his mouth. I returned the smile and stood next to Jasper, leaning on the table as they both started cracking the nuts open with rocks. "How are you doing Ar?" Monty asked.

I gave him a weak nod. "I'm doing better." Monty smiled and went back to work.

"What do you think they're gonna do with the grounder?" Jasper asked.

Monty let out a sigh, stopping for a moment. "I'd rather not think about it."

I took a nut from the table and threw it up in the air and caught it in my mouth like I saw Monty do a few minutes ago. Jasper looked over and smiled at me.

Once the guys had finished opening the nuts we walked back to their tent. "Earth is scary," Jasper muttered walking into the tent behind me.

I gave him a confused look. "Earth is amazing. Fresh air, trees, nuts." Monty rambled. I took a seat next to Jasper on his bed. "These nuts taste better than usual, right?" he asked, popping another in his mouth. "I'd like to give earth a giant hug." He layed back on his bed with a sigh.

"You're acting weird," I said truthfully.

Monty nodded, "I feel weird, but in a good way." He winked.

"I'm gonna pee," Jasper said and walked out of the tent.

"We didn't need to know that," I yelled after him.

Monty got up from his bed and grabbed a fuzzy hat that sat on a pile of stuff, placing it on his head while mumbling on about how amazing the earth is. "Are you okay?" I asked as he almost lost balance standing up.

"I'm great." He smiled.

Jasper ran back into the tent a few seconds later. "I think I'm going crazy, or the grounders are here," he said, pretty shaken up.

"Okay just slow down, what happened?" I asked holding his shoulders to try and calm him.

"I saw a grounder," he whispered.

"I'm sorry, you saw what?"

He looked out of the tent and pointed to an open spot. "Him."

I looked out the tent, seeing no one standing there. "Jasper there's no one there-"

"Right there!" he yelled pointing to the empty spot. "We have to run, now." He said grabbing my shoulders.

"Woah Jasper, calm down."

He ran his hand through his hair. "We're all going to die," he said going to place another nut in his mouth but I took it from him.

"Is this all you've eaten today?" I asked.

"Yeah, but what's it matter?" he said, his voice cracking, "we're all going to die

"You're drugged," I said as he breathed heavily. "Um, okay just stay here." I set him on his bed slowly and he began to rock back and forth. "You too Monty, stay." I ordered before climbing out of the tent, looking for someone to help. Octavia was sitting by the table of nuts, sorting them. I ran over to her, "Octavia, Jasper and Monty are going crazy. I need you to talk to them, Jaspers seeing things," I explained.

She got up, looking at me a little confused. "What?"

"Jasper and Monty ate these nuts and now Monty's talking to himself and Jaspers seeing things," I explained.

"Where are they?" she asked. I led her in the direction of the their tent, taking the time to also look around the camp. This is when I noticed it wasn't only Jasper and Monty who seemed to be going crazy, everyone in the camp were roaming around in a daze, mumbling to themselves.

Monty suddenly ran up to me, grabbing my shoulders and started rambling about some kind of physics and the moon. I just smiled, nodding my head and walking past him.

Jasper had moved outside of the tent and started rocking back and forth on the ground. "Grounders, there are grounders everywhere," he mumbled.

"What's he on?" Octavia asked turning to me. I shrugged, not really sure, I just knew he ate the nuts. "Alright, um here take this," she said picking up a stick and handing it to Jasper.

"But it's just a stick," he voiced, confused.

Octavia shook her head, "No Jasper, its and anti-grounder stick. If you hold this, a grounder can't get you."

"Oh makes sense." Jasper took the stick and held it close to his chest.

"Okay, yeah makes perfect sense. Ari, watch him." Octavia ordered, walking away before I could protest.

I let out a sigh, taking a seat next to Jasper. "How'd you get your hair like that?" he asked touching my braid.

I swatted his hand away, letting out a breath. "This is going to be a long night."

After a while, Jasper had finally fallen asleep in a seat that was taken from the dropship, cuddling his 'Anti Grounder' stick. It was beginning to get dark out and supposedly, a little while before I woke up, Clarke and Bellamy left to look for some bunker the was full of stuff that was supposed to help us survive winter, but they should have been back by now.

Finn was sat by the fire dumping out the small pouches of nut into the flames, while people were still seeing things. I walked over and sat next to him as he seemed to be the only other person who wasn't drugged. "You seeing things too kid?" he asked.

I shook my head. "Nah. I didn't get a chance to eat as many nuts as everyone else." He nodded his head and dumped another bag of nuts out.

"How are you doing, with everything?"

I sighed. "I wish people who stop asking me that. I'm fine, people die everyday."

"Ari, you didn't get out of bed for three days, you wouldn't eat, drink or talk to anyone. It was scary, we were worried about you," he explained truthfully.

I looked down at my hands, picking at the skin around my fingers. "I'm sorry," I said, almost in a whisper.

"You don't need to apologize. You and Charlotte were close, it's understandable that you were going through a hard time, just get that people are worried about you because they care."

Those words hit me hard. I've never really had people who truly cared for me before, not to this extent. People who cared enough to take the time to make sure I was okay, and I was just writing it off.

I turned to Finn and wrapped my arms around his waist. "Thank you."

He smiled and rubbed my back. "You're welcome kid."

-

"How was your night?" Monty asked as we walked over to Jasper who was still sleeping soundly, cuddling his stick.

"My head hurts from watching all of you going crazy," I said with a chuckle.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I ate a pine cone... because it told me to." I couldn't help but laugh.

"He's gone! The Grounder's gone!" Miller, the one who was supposed to be watching the Grounder, yelled coming out of the dropship. This woke up Jasper and he, still holding his stick, quickly walked over to Miller. Everyone began to gather around him.

"What if he brings other Grounders back?"

"They'll kill us, or worse." Someone called out.

"Let the Grounders come!" Bell yelled, walking over to the group of worried teenagers. "We're afraid of the Grounders, why? Because of their knives and spears. I don't know about you, but I'm done being afraid." He and Clarke each dropped a bag full of guns. "Tomorrow we start training and if the Grounders come, we'll be ready to fight." The teens cheered, before taking for a bit and the crowd soon disbanded and everyone went back to talking to each other.

I sat in front of a fire and watched the flames dance as a slight gust of wind blew past and I shivered. "Here." Bellamy rested an orange blanket over my shoulders, taking a seat next to me.

"Thanks." I smiled and pulled the itchy fabric closer to me.

He rubbed his hands together and let out a huff. "So, you're up. How are you?"

I gave him a nod. "I'm better than I have been. I was able to get up so that's a good thing."

"Yeah it is. I'm glad you're doing better. You actually kind of scared me Ari."

"I know and I'm sorry, I won't do that again." I gave him a weak smile and moved closer, resting my head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around me. We sat like that for a few minutes in a comforting silence.

"Hey Bellamy, can I talk to you?" Clarke asked walking up to us. He looked over at me and I nodded getting up to leave the two alone. I sigh and made my way over to the tree I had grown fond of. I held the blanket and began to climb up the trunk effortlessly before taking a seat on a branch that looked over the entire camp.

I watched for awhile, observing the teenage criminals. Till a thought came into my head. I pulled out my small knife that I kept in the lace of my boot and began to carve into the tree,

I had four letters carved when I suddenly heard movement below me. I looked down to see Jasper climbing. "Hey," I called out.

He let out a groan, "I don't know how you do this all the time."

"How'd you find me?" I asked sliding my knife back into my boot.

"I followed you," he explained taking a seat on a branch opposite of me, a bit out of breath. "What you doing up here?"

I shrugged. "I like it up here, plus there's really nowhere else for me to go. I don't have a tent and the dropship is basically claimed." I explained. "This is kinda where I go to get away from people. Charlotte and I would come up here sometimes." I said smiling at the memory.

"I see why, it's quiet and you can see the whole camp from up here," he paused for a moment, biting his lip as though he was thinking of what to say. "If you want, I know a place you can stay." Jasper began to climb down the tree and I watched him confused for a moment. "You coming?" he asked. I tied the blanket around me neck and followed the boy with the goggles.

Once we got out of the tree he led me to his and Montys tent. "What are we doing at your tent?" I asked. He smiled and walked inside. I let out a sigh and continued to follow him.

Inside the tent, Monty was standing in front of a piece of the parachute the was hung up, adjusting it so it was covering whatever was behind it. "Oh hey." He smiled turning to face Jasper and I. He moved out of the way to revel the hanging piece of fabric, if you could even call it fabric. "Surprise!"

"What am I looking at exactly?" I asked.

Jasper rolled his eyes. "Well go look behind it you goof."

I walked over and moved the parachute flap to the side, looking behind it to see a little area with a makeshift bed. They had made a little room in their tent, just for me.

"Do you like it?" Jasper asked, seeming a little worried.

I turned to the boys, a smile on my face and pulled them into a hug. "I love it. Thank you." We pulled back and the worry on their face seemed to subside. I went back over to the bed and place down the orange blanket Bell gave me, smoothing out the wrinkles. I took off my jacket and set it at the end of the bed before sitting on the edge and lying back.

The bed, that was made out of leaves and a few blankets was surprisingly comfortable.

"Well, we should get some sleep," Jasper said, "It been a long day." I nodded, taking off my boots and picking up the small brown bear I kept tucked inside.

I crawled under the blanket and pulled the small curtain they hung up, closed. I love that they thought to put it up to give me my privacy.

Jasper and Monty both went to their beds to go to sleep but before I let the darkness take over me, I had to ask them. "Why did you guys do this for me?"

Jasper rolled over and looked at me. "Why'd you cut me down from the tree when the Grounders hung me up as live bait?" I smiled and so did he. I close the makeshift curtain and laid there looking up at the wall of the tent until sleep took over me.
