《Prisoner 138 {The 100} [1]》Chapter 2: Earth

It's been hours since the group left and I was still annoyed at how they treated me like a child. I kept my distance from the other prisoners, while they did whatever they do. It was dark now and I was sat in the tree I climbed earlier, listening to the sound of crickets chirping and the group of teens yelling by a lit fire.
I sighed, climbing down from my spot and walking over to where the talking was coming from. When I got there, I scanned the group of teens until I meet the gaze of the guard from earlier whose name I heard to be Bellamy Blake. Everyone cheered as he threw a girl's wristband into the fire after he pried it off.
I crossed my arms and watched the process for a while. Bellamy or Murphy, it didn't matter which one, would pick a kid from the crowd bring them into the center of the circle and pry off the metal wrist band that the guards put on us before we were sent to the ground, they would throw it into the fire and everyone would cheer.
It didn't take long before John Murphy was scanning the crowd, looking for his next victim, but I have no idea it would be me. He walked over with a smirk on his face. "What do you say, Ariella? How about we take care of that wristband of yours?" he asked crossing his arms.
I've known John Murphy since I little, his mother used to babysit me when I was younger before she died. The John I used to know was happy and carefree, but after his father died he became cold and angry and he always seemed to look like he was up to no good.
All his friends and everyone around the fire stared at me, silently waiting for my answer but all I could hear in my head on repeat was York's voice saying"Stay alive Ariella, I don't care how you do it but stay alive."
I remember the way York said those words to me, he was almost pleading for me to stay safe. He said he would be watching me, but how. The only way I could think of was through the wrist bands. I looked down at the metal around my small wrist. Something in my gut was telling me not to take it off, if I kept it on then York would know I'm safe.
I look up at John and meet his gaze before shaking my head. "No, I'm good thank you."
He chuckled, shaking his head. "You really want to keep that on? It's a reminder of the Ark and what the council did to us. Hell, they locked you up for a crime you didn't even commit." I opened my mouth to speak but he continued, "Come on Ariella, you really expect everyone here to think that a kid like you actually did something wrong?" he leaned down to my height, whispering, "Don't forget I've known you for a long time kid, I know you would never steal anything. So with that and the fact that the council obviously saw those bruises that covered your body and didn't say a thing, how can you not be mad at them, how could you not want to get rid of everything that reminds you of that horrible place?"
My voice was caught in my throat. The fact that he knew everything about my past, put me on the edge, I didn't want anyone to know, I never wanted anyone to know. I looked down at my wrist thinking, before looking back up at John. I didn't want York to think I was dead but then again I didn't want anyone else to know about my past.

"If I take this off, you have to act like you never met me before, like you have no idea who I am."
He sighed, looking over his shoulder. "You got yourself a deal." He grabbed my arm lightly and turned to the middle of the circle, "Alright Bellamy, we have another volunteer. What's your name kid?"
"Ariell-" I stopped myself, deciding to go with a much simpler name, "Ari. My name is Ari," I told Murphy as I walked into the circle to where Bellamy was.
The tall man with curly brown hair looked down at me confused. "How old are you kid?"
"I'm 12 and I'm not a kid," I said bluntly.
He nodded with a smile. "Alright then." He knelt down beside a rock and I followed his motions, placing my arm down. "So what did a kid-" I sent him a glare before he continued, "A young girl," he corrected, "like you do in order to get locked up?" he asked, placing the long piece of metal between my wrist and bracelet.
"I guess that's the fun part about this situation, trying to figure out what everyone did." He shook his head with a smirk. The piece of metal dug into my wrist, pinching my skin and I winced in pain. It took a few more seconds but my wristband finally snapped off as everyone cheered. I held my arm to my chest, that is definitely going to leave a bruise.
No too long after Wells stormed over to Bellamy, obviously angry. He started yelling and most of the teenage criminals rolled their eyes.
"You think this is a game. You break those off and the Ark will think your dead!" Wells yelled. My stomach began to knot, I knew that was how York was watching me, I knew the wristband told him if I was alive or not and now he's going to think I'm dead. What the hell have I done?
"That's the whole point genius," Bellamy sassed, walking over to Wells. "Down here we do whatever the hell we want, whenever the hell we want. Now you don't have to agree with it. You can try and stop it, try to stop me, even kill me. You know why? Whatever the hell you want." His signature smirk danced across his face as he spoke.
The phrase was catchy which is why Murphy began to chant it, throwing his fist in the air, "Whatever the hell we want!" Soon people joined in with chanting along with him. I yelled and threw my arm in the air, yelling with everyone else.
All of a sudden I felt something drop on my head. I stopped for a moment, looking up at the sky confused. Another drop of water fell on my face, dripping down my forehead. Rain. It wasn't long till drops of water were pouring down from the sky. I never felt rain before, none of us had so it wasn't much of a surprise when everyone began to jump around in excitement.
I looked up at the sky and I let the cold water drops hit my face as a wide smile spread on my lips. I put my arms out and spun in a circle, laughing.
Later that night my white boots became covered in mud and wet grass as I made my way to the dropship to find shelter for the night. I climbed the ladder all the way to the top floor, huddling in a corner. I peeled off my jacket and laid it out to dry due to it getting soaked in the rain. I pulled my bear out of my left boot, after taking them off and held it close to me, the bear was drenched as well, but I didn't mind I still cuddled with it.

I laid on the cold floor and sighed. I still couldn't believe that I was actually on earth. I have never felt this happy before in my life. Being here made me feel so close to my father and I loved that. It didn't take long for sleep to take over my tiny body and even though I didn't want to sleep, I had no choice, today was a very eventful and tiring day and my body just couldn't handle it.
I woke up the next morning suddenly, shaking from the fear that consumed me. Beads of sweat trickled down my face followed by a few tears that I was quick to wipe away. I ran my hands through my thick greasy hair, letting out a breath, before I quietly braided my hair into two french braids and stood up, pulling my jacket on.
I hid my bear back in my boot and climbed down the ladder. Outside the teenage delinquents were running around and messing with each other, pushing and shoving. I rubbed the sleep from my face and made my way over to the tree I climbed yesterday. I slowly got to a steady branch and sat down, observing everyone as they talked and joked.
It was peaceful in this spot and I loved it. I picked one of the violet-colored flowers that were growing on the branch and watched as I spun it between my fingers carefully. A tiny green worm crawled around one of the petals. I smiled and put my finger out for it to climb on me and it did.
The worm inches onto my pointer finger and around crawled on my hand, for a second I had forgotten about everything going on around me. I forgot about Wells and Murphy's constant fighting, I forgot that we were stuck on the ground with no food or water and no way to contact the Ark and I forgot I was surrounded by a bunch of teenage criminals who were locked up for who knows what.
"Wells!" I heard Clarke yell from the woods, pulling me out of my thoughts. Clarke and Finn ran out of the tree line, while Octavia who was very badly injured with three large gashed on the side of her leg, limped leaning onto Monty for support. Once Bellamy saw his sister, he instantly ran to her side.
I looked over the four teenagers again, realizing that someone was missing, Jasper was missing.
"We were attacked," Clarke explained as I climbed down from my spot in the tree.
My heart sank and a bad feeling began to form in the pit of my stomach as she spoke further about the ground, how everything we thought we knew was wrong and there were people living here.
Everyone began to panic, worried about what was out there as I made my way over to the group. I tried to ask where Jasper was, but I kept getting yelled over. Till finally, I mustered up the courage to speak louder.
"Where is Jasper?!" I finally yelled loud enough for everyone to hear.
Clarke turned to look down at me, her blue eyes filled with guilt. "Jasper was hit, they took him. But, we're going back out to find him," she explained. My eyes shot to the ground and I stuck my hands into my pockets. The group of teenagers began to yell again, trying to get answers, shoving each other but Clarke walked away with Monty at her side.
Quickly, I followed behind them. "Hey. I'm going with you guys, to find Jasper." I said, my hands still in the pockets of my jacket.
Clarke turned to me. "No, like I said yesterday it's too dangerous, especially now that we know about the grounders."
"You can't stop me," I said crossing my arms.
The blonde rolled her eyes at me. "Just stay here," she ordered, turning around, leaving me in her tracks. I shook my head and followed a few feet behind anyway, waiting against a tree for Clarke and whoever else was going on the adventure to find Jasper. I was not giving up that easily, I was going with them whether they liked it or not.
After a bit of waiting, Clarke, Wells, Bellamy, and Murphy all began walking down the path where I was. I waited for the perfect moment to come out from behind the tree and popped out right in front of them, making a few jumps. "I'm coming too," I stated.
Clarke let out a huff shaking her head. "No, you're not," she said, sounding annoyed and rolling her eyes as she walked past me, followed by Wells and Murphy.
"Why don't you go find some dolls to play with, kid," The oldest Blake teased before walking past me.
I took a deep breath, turning to them. "Whatever the hell I want," I said, knowing I would get Bellamy's attention.
He stopped in his tracks, turning around to face me with his signature smirk dancing across his face. "Alright then Kid, let's go," he said and I let out a breath of relief.
Clarke rolled her eyes and started walking really fast ahead of us.
"Hey, what's the rush. No one could survive a spear through the heart anyway," Bellamy voiced, pulling his gun out from his pants and waving it around a bit.
"Why don't you put the gun down," Wells snapped.
"Why don't you do something about it." Murphy chuckled as he pushed Wells, starting yet another argument. I let out a sigh this is going to take a while.
"Jasper screamed when they moved him. If the spear struck his heart he would have died instantly. It doesn't mean we have time to waste," the blonde snapped at the two criminals, getting their attention.
She turned to continue walking but Bellamy stopped her by grabbing her wrist, pulling her so she was facing him. "As soon as you take this wristband off we can go."
Clarke glared at Bellamy and pulled her arm back with much force. "The only way the Ark will think I'm dead is if I'm actually dead," she spat.
The older Blake chuckled, looking over all of us before turning back to the blonde. "Brave princess," he teased.
"Why don't you find your own nickname," Finn said out of nowhere as he walked up to us, "You call this a rescue party. You have to split up cover more ground. Clarke, come with me." And just like that the two of them were gone, just walked off without a second thought.
Realizing if I didn't follow them, I would have to deal with Murphy and Wells' constant fighting and that was the last thing I wanted, so I quickly followed behind without anyone noticing.
I climbed up a close-by tree, using the branches to move around. Once the two stopped I sat above them listening to their conversation closely.
"I've been thinking about Mont Weather," Finn began, "How come they didn't attack till Jasper crossed the river?" I rolled my eyes, climbing down from my spot, dropping to the ground with a thump.
They both jumped in fright, turning to me. "They waited for you to cross first. The river's a boundary," I spoke turning my back to them and walking ahead. "Which means Mount Weathers off limits," I finished.
"You have to stop doing that," Clarke said walking behind me. "How are we going to get those supplies? What are we gonna do for food?" She asked Finn. They followed behind me for a little bit until we came across a beautiful waterfall, that flows right into a lake.
"At least we don't have to worry about water," Clarke commented and walked over with Finn to get some water to drink.
I stayed on land and watched the two. I never was a big fan of water, to drink was fine, but on the Ark, we were only allowed three showers a week in order to preserve it for drinking and growing up I had a fear that the drain would suck me up and spit me into the endless darkness of space.
Finn jumped in the lake area and pulled Clarke in with him, they splashed each other and just acted like a teenager, making me smile. I had a feeling that with everything that has already happened, we weren't going to have a lot of time to just be normal teenagers very often.
I took a seat on a rock with a sigh, a slight smile on my face as I watched the two, but that smile was quickly faded as I turned my head to see on the rock next to me was a splatter of blood.
