《Baby Batty》28

Kenzie POV
"So what is the plan for dealing with the leeches?" I ask sitting in Brenton's office.
"Well they seem to be regrouping. We put up more of a fight than they anticipated so we have a little breathing room. Landon is looking into properties that match the general description if the house Gilly lead us to. We're hoping to find out where they are hiding but if that doesn't pan out it's down to shoring up our defenses." He explains. I don't like being on the defensive.
"Do any other packs have any helpful information?" I ask.
"Not really... it seems like we are the only one with a vampire problem." He answers.
"Sorry."
"It's not your fault little bat." Brenton says pulling me onto his lap to cuddle.
"It is... they want me." I respond.
"Did you choose to be a bat? Did you force the vampires to hate you for no other reason? Did you pick a fight or harm them in any way?" He asks and I look down.
"No." I whisper.
"Then it is their fault not yours... we will win. Don't worry little one. How about you go color until I'm done? No more Luna duties today." I feel myself start to slip as soon as he suggests it. It has been stressful today.
"Gilly?" I ask and he chuckles.
"I'll call Landy and ask. No promises." Daddy answers and I smile listening in on his phone call.
"Hey Landon, our little Luna needs a play mate. Gilly busy?" He asks.
"She's very busy complaining about how bored she is and how she can't wait to get a job so she can get out of my office, or as she calls it "the super boring box of doom." Landon responds.

"Daddy I wanna go!" I hear Gilly yell obviously listening in on the conversation just like I am.
"I don't know, Tadpole... you were just starting to have some fun here." Landon teases her.
"No! Boring! Wanna see Kenzie!" She yells and he chuckles.
"If you send an escort for her Gilly can come over." Landon says to Daddy.
"I'll send..." Daddy pauses when someone knocks on the door. "I'll call you back Landy."
"What's wrong?" I ask looking at him strangely as he moves toward the door. He'd usually just say come in.
"Go stand over there." He whispers pointing to the corner furthest from the door. I comply only because he seems so serious. I don't wanna stand in a corner... well at least it's not a punishment.
"What's your business here?" Daddy asks as soon as he opens the door.
"May we come in Alpha?" A voice asks.
"We have much to discuss." Another adds.
I look at the couple standing at my door. I wonder how they got in the pack house. Someone isn't doing their job.
"Your kind don't discuss things. They attack. I won't put my pack and my mate in danger leech." I growl and I hear my baby gasp.
"We aren't like them." The woman says.
"We mean you no harm. Please our people want to help." The man adds.
"Ine wrong move and I will remove your head." I threatened them before opening the door. "Have a seat."
My little girl runs to me as soon as I sit at my desk and makes herself at home on my lap. I can tell she is nervous.
"You have nothing to fear. My people refrain from human and shifter blood." The woman says seeing how scared my mate is.

"Just tell us why you are here." I respond.
"The group we live with are peaceful. We have been fighting with the same group you are for generations. They give vampires a bad name. They even kidnapped our daughter. We want to help you finally put an end to them." The man explains.
"Why should we trust you?" I ask and he pulls out a photo and hands it to me.
"That is me, my wife, and my daughter. That was 16 years ago. She was 3... this was one month before Winston took her... we don't know if she is even alive but he is a collector. He likes to show his power through owning rare or special people. His greatest enemy's child would fit in his collection... I have to hope he collected her instead of killing her. I want my daughter back. I will do everything I can to take him down. You can trust that." He answers as I look at the photo.
I feel Kenzie lift her head from my chest to look at the photograph. She cocks her head to the side before pulling my head down to whisper in my ear.
My jaw drops and I look at the photo again then at the vampires in front of me.
"Excuse me, I need to make a call." I tell them before picking up the phone.
"Landy, come home now. Bring Gilly." I tell him.
"I'm kinda busy cousin." He responds.
"It's important Landon. Come now." I order him.
"Yes Alpha." He says in a serious tone.
"What was that about?" The man asks.
"You'll see in a moment." I answer.
