《Akatsuki (Magi Ja'far X Fem Reader)》Respite

(Y/n)
Breathing hard, we turn to watch the burning mess that used to be the king's hideout, as well as part of the kitchen, a large office room, a balcony decorated with plants and statues, several bedrooms, and a magnificent carved staircase. Oh, the garden is on fire too.
"We blew everything up...again," I say, stunned. "Yeah..." says Ja'far, staring in awe, horror and shock at the fire. Slowly, we turn to look at each other, then he starts laughing. Then I start laughing too. Before we know it, we are laughing until our sides split like idiotic little kids as we lay together on the roof in our singed clothes.
Yamuraiha
"It's over," I mutter, my knees finally giving way. Just before I hit the floor, someone catches me. "You're welcome," a familiar smug voice says. "So you survived those puppets, huh?" I say. "Yeah. Thanks to my amazing swordmanship," boasts Sharrkan. "Oh, please. I helped you back there," I retort. "Well, I came back here for you. So we're even," he says. I laugh softly, close my eyes, and let myself relax in his arms after that long, exhausting fight.

I take a deep breath before the guards on either side of me open the doors. Seated before me on his throne is King Sinbad, his Eight Generals beside him.
"(Y/n), you have attempted to kill Ja'far, one of my Eight Generals, so that Al Thamen could get to me. Since the time you were "given" to Sindria up to before Al Thamen's attack, you were actually at Judal's disposal. Moreover, you caused a huge fire that eventually spread and destroyed three buildings as well as one of the royal gardens," King Sinbad announced solemnly. At this, he allowed his generals to voice their opinions.

"The fact that you were hiding your dark rukh was unsettling," says Yamuraiha. "Not to mention the destruction you could have caused to Sindria by killing the king's right hand man," adds Drakon. "The fire caused the loss of many valuable weapons, rooms, plants, and my favourite training spot. Again," lists Sharrkan. Even Pisti chimes in, "The fire also caused a lot of birds to leave the island, including those I've trained. It will take time and effort to get them back."
In a grave tone, King Sinbad continues to speak, "Therefore, as the king of Sindria, I am giving you a life sentence." Despite the horrible sinking feeling in my gut, I keep my gaze steady, not looking away from their stern faces. I knew my punishment would have to come eventually. What else could I expect?
"A life sentence of serving the kingdom of Sindria, that is."
What?
"You completely failed that assassination attempt on me anyway, (y/n)."
"You can help rebuild my training grounds so that I can kick you butt again."
"If it weren't for you, those puppets would have killed us!"
"We had a lot of fun with you."
"Chirp!"
"Irie agrees."
King Sinbad stands up. "Welcome back, (y/n). I look forward to you working under me." Blinking back my tears, I answer like I always do. "Hai."

The Laptop Hero (Portal/Isekai LitRPG)
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - April 2022 Silas got summoned to another world—by a group of kids attending magic school who seemed rather unhappy with the results of their ritual. After a brief glimpse of his summoners Silas woke in the town dump. Unable to speak the local language, a misunderstanding escalated and before long Silas wound up in a jail cell, the locals having confiscated all his worldly possessions aside from his laptop, which had formed some strange bond with him. Now he can summon his laptop at will, and he can view his Status, level up, and gain powerful skills and magic as if he were some character in a video game, which is great and everything, but all Silas really wants to do is sit in a dark room and play games on his laptop. Only, life isn't a game, and Silas needs to get his act together because everyone else is playing for keeps. Or does he? Maybe for Silas life is just one big game now, with everyone else stuck playing by his rules. Assorted Disclaimers, in no particular order: I am only posting this on RoyalRoad.com, so if you find my story elsewhere it was not posted by me. Please do let me know! While I do consider this a progression fantasy, and have tagged it as such, Silas's Status improvements will not necessarily proceed in a linear fashion. His RPG stats will have ups and downs, exploits and nerfs, periods of growth and stagnation. Such is the life of a gamer, to be held under the thumb of the all powerful devs, or in this case a certain goddess devoted to the idea of Balance. SIlas himself should learn and grow, improving and progressing in areas where he struggles, or rather, to show such is my goal. The story is told from multiple points of view. While other PoVs will come and go, Silas shall remain the only lead character. The world Silas finds himself on is not a nice place. Expect him to encounter gore and traumatizing content and bad people who do bad things for selfish (or possibly noble) reasons from time to time. Some characters will use profanity, however due to cultural differences the curse words used will differ from those used in our corner of reality, so I'm not including the profanity content warning. Silas himself isn't one for foul language. No explicit sexual content here. This novel is intended for mature readers, however, and will include mature topics, including, but not limited to, sex, violence, death, and taxes. No harem. Might be an eventual romantic interest, possibly even some competitive jealousy, yet as his story begins Silas is too overwhelmed with other concerns to consider long term plans. Musophobics might want to steer clear of this story. Same goes for turophobics. You have been warned. Keep in mind, however, if my other disclaimers didn't make this clear, I only have the faintest of outlines at the moment. This story will take me where it will. My goal with this story is to write it to the end, something of a long-term writing exercise, with the hope others might take an interest in my work and encourage me to keep at it. I've started a number of works before, even finished a few, but this is the first time I've shared any work in a public forum. My temporary cover was made by me, in GIMP using public domain images. If you can do better I'll happily accept your submission and give credit for your work here!

Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.
